    Hi Tihana! I've been following your channel for a while and I'm moving to Seoul in august to study a year abroad at Seoul National University. I have a few questions:
    1. How much did you spend each month buying food/going out?
    2. what is the best tip in terms of meeting Koreans/making friends in Korea?
    3. What are your top 5 favourite things to do in Seoul
    4. Is learning Korean beforehand crucial or can I get around by speaking English?
    5. As a woman, did you feel safe in Korea? especially during late hours?

    • @tihanaMae
      @tihanaMae  2 роки тому +34

      Hiiii😁
      1- I received approx £9000 (split into 3 payments across the year from the U.K. government) and still had lots left over so I can’t exactly tell you how much I spent per month. And I did go out and spend a lot on food and nicknacks and plushies so that should kinda give you an idea of the finances.
      2- Since you’re going to SNU I think it will be easier to meet Korean people by joining the SNU buddy system that’s exactly how I met and made lots of friends, not just Koreans but also Korean people and a bunch of international students too! They go out on trips and dinners a lot so you’ll meet people and then if you become good friends, you’ll meet THEIR friends etc
      3- Eat Thai food, Walk around in Hongdae and find random shops and food stores, eating out in general is really good in Seoul, Shopping in the shopping/luxury districts is lots of fun, going on long walks at night and hanging out in parks at midnight!!!
      4- I think knowing even the smallest amount of Korean is essential. If you can just about read Hangul and can say please/thank you/hello/where is the *insert place or thing* then I think you’ll kinda be okay if you have a good translator app (Papago) as well. But honestly I think people should know some Korean before going, just to show Koreans that you are making an effort to be mindful and respectful. Lots of young Koreans can speak English but the older generation don’t often know that much so consider that too.
      5- Yes, I felt very safe in Korea. I used to walk around in the dark all the time but because Seoul is so well lit and also has a 24hr culture, people were always up and out on the streets.
      I hope my answers helped! Let me know if you have any further questions!!!

    Hi, I actually have a few questions for you? The following are my questions, i hope you will answer. 1: were you in korea with a korean government scholarship at SNU?2: is the scholarship money enough for a single(no roommate )room at the dorm?3: are engineering courses taught in English for international students?4: how much extra money(scholarship money excluded)do i need to have in order to live a humanly life, do i need to wait for 1 month after arriving in Korea to receive my first scholarship money installment?5: Do unionpay cards or Mastercards work at the ATM machines in korea?last question: Do scholarship students receive guidance from someone from their university if they are not familiar with some things in korea?

    Heloo, loved your video was informative, am moving too in feb,
    I wanna know about quarantine in airbnb how did u book what things you look for and things to keep in mind?
    Sry for long ques, Thankyou so much:)🧡

    • @tihanaMae
      @tihanaMae  2 роки тому +1

      Hiiiii thank you! I’m glad you liked it💕 When getting the AirBnB for quarantine, I TRIPLE CHECKED my visa and the embassy’s website if I was allowed to stay in the AirBnB for the period. Then I looked for places not too far from the student dorm building because I didn’t have much money so I didn’t want to have to pay a large price for the taxi journey. I then, once I had an idea of the areas I wanted to potentially stay in, I messaged all the AirBnB Hosts of the places I wanted to stay at and asked them if they were okay with me using their place as a quarantine space. 1 of them ignored me, another one said NO and then another one said yes! So then I stayed with them! You MUST print out the address of your Airbnb in Korean and English to show the people at the airport so they know you actually have a place to stay and also you need to put the Korean version of the address into the quarantine app. Hopefully this answered your questions!

    @8:19 omg I was studying at Hanyang Uni in Seoul campus and ofc the business building was on top of a mountain. Kind of thankful to covid that I had to go to campus only 3 times to do my final exams. Otherwise I would have died if I had to hike there everyday :'DDddd
