In this episode, I share with you my thoughts of this epic 600HP Big Turbo LS Holden Commodore SS. Built from a long line of great Australian made economy cars, the SS was the sportiest of models from the Holden sedan line up offering a thunderous 5.7L V8 LS1 from General Motors at the heart, the car was a force to be reckoned with. However, with a big turbo thrown into the mix, it has been completely transformed... Find out what I think of this car in the video!

I really wanted to convey how car’s felt in these big power builds to viewers but struggled to figure out what would show G-Forces well on camera. We were trying to capture cinematic footage and then this idea came up haha. Thank you guys!🔥🙌

Holden vehicles are crazy popular here in the states. An alternative to jdm cars.
@hudson Not from what I've seen. And even if we could get them over here they would be ungodly expensive. Think of an AMG Germany only car trying to be exported to Australia. It gets super expensive.
@hudson We do have a few Commdores with serious mods on them though. There is a silver one that runs around the city I live in and that car is a BEAST. Sounds like a t-rex screaming when it revs and has a wild lumpy idle due to a wild street cams😂👍
@hudson I also think Dodge Chysler has taken that torch from GM because we have a shit load of hellcats and demons all over the place. Street racing in the states are out of control now. Just in Nashville they confiscated hellcats and demons and few fast imports for racing on the highways looping the city.
@hudson it's out control. It's to the point that you have slightly fast car the cops will profile you. I currently have a 2003 Lexus is300 sport design.

^ Caring about HP should come second to the brakes, suspension, transmission and cooling and breathing system you've got running your car. Turbo injectors cam heads durrrrr cave man shit, especially when it's obvious you care more about numbers than balance.
Numbers in regards to HP, not money. Money is a non topic to anyone that's old school and or building their motor. Talking about HP, and about money just tells me one thing about you. But hey, at least you made an effort to comment on something that says that you understand that 'balance' needs to come into it.

Got a VE SSV with cold air intake, 2 1/4 headers(I think, better measure that lol) then 3inch xforce with muffler delete (sounds mad) and dyno tune from Hallam performance. 252rwkws. God I want forced induction ASAP.
Decent set of tyres on a bigger wider mag & you would gain a lot of traction but blowing the tyres off so easily would be fun
For a 12-13sec street car. (Shame Clay can’t afford a $220 Dragy to prove it) Has lots of personality and awesome sound.

Hi clay is it a LS1 5.7 .like mine in UK but we don't get 4 doors .just the 2 door Monaro vxr .Stock here is 387 bhp Great Vid as always mate . Cheers from UK
The hsv gts/ gtsr had the ls1 5.7 v8. Slightly older but nice cars. 340 /410 bhp if my memory serves me right.
@@kristianspencer1978 the VS gtsr have the 5.0 bored or stroked to a 5.7. Not an ls1
This is a hot house green 2002-2004 VY SS LS1 5.7 not a HSV gts/gtsr, the first holden with the 5.7 was the series 2 vt 1999 what you have peter is the monaro coupe that was exported to uk in 2001 or 2002 and badged as Vauxhall vxr 5.7 ls, and yes the 1995 vs gtsr with a 5.0 was stroked/bored to a 5.7 making it the first 5.7 but only a few hundred was made

Honestly for an LS1 with 16 lbs that's got a cam package it's a bit of a donkey 🐴 must have stock pistons and rods must be scared of breaking the standard aluminium block
Na their fine mate...go and have a look at Street built racing and what they do with the stock LS stuff

Wayne Ireland so true, especially in Victoria, where it was 98% fords, 2% Holden taxis. Toyota Camry Hybrids have been far more common than Holden commodores in the last few yrs. Commodores were more common as company cars over the last decade than ford falcons.

Was even surprised to see thw Ford Territory diesel to be used as a taxi.

Depends how much work you do to improve the springs , struts, bushes etc , yes these cars are bouncy from the factory however there are massive improvements to suspension you can do to stiffen them up

Man I’m an Ozzy and who gives you these cars, my LS1 naturally aspirated was ‘relatively’ close to these figures (is the FORD dealership allowing you to take out trade ins)? The figures should be double that in which you speak of, seriously. You want to review some real cars - maybe you’ll respond. Smaller cubed LS engines react better with a blower pushing 1000 kW at the shoes. I’m impressed you’ve worked out the general was all over it, Bathurst told the story. You can turn them up, until they’re undriveable, so these are fairly swift cars. But rest assured there are some animals hiding in the suburbs; the guy you need to speak with is, Mr. Chevrolet - lovely bloke (Chev’s Performance) in the SE Melbourne area. The TOG’s love him 💔 Do be in Dandenong (Princess Hwy) on a Friday evening. Tell Chev the big fella sent you ✌🏽🇦🇺

I agree, I would've thought a turbocharged SS would have higher numbers at the wheels. Maybe it's has a very conservative tune for the street. I've lived in and around Dandenong my whole life and I believe there are some monster Holden's and Ford's in the south eastern suburbs. Hopefully Clay Wong does meet Mr Chev, could be an interesting video.

@UCzO_KpPRGNqF-N9aLhTGFtg I know what a ricer is, it's how you modify a car and Holden owners are the king of rice oversized wheels, lower height at the rear, they paint there interior trim the same colour as the outside I bet that's what you you have done to you're car lolol imagine going around corners in a Holden.

From the factory yes these cars are bouncy however with huge suspension upgrades, struts , springs , bushes strut mounts etc ... you can improve them a lot
