Let's sit down in the Diner with Clara and The Doctor, let's listen to the story of a thousand years...
I tried to concentrate on The Doctor's family and on the horror of the time war ( I hope I didn't fail, because this was fun research...
I included some classics, but not many... You know they weren't in the Time War so xD
What can I say about this song? I had to use this, because this song contains so much emotions: laughter, anger, pain, screaming. You just want to do everything while listening to it
so this thing inspired me so much to make this kind of video... at one point it might seem a little weird one xD
Because in the end some stories might become a song...
Thank you for your attention and for everything people !
and as always Stay Awesome !!

Hundreds of billions dying and being reborn over and over again. Timelines being rewritten so people never existed, people being converted into horrors, histories mutated into terrors unending.
Time lords being erased from history into the neverwere outside of time as crossing peoples timelines forcing them from existence.
I love the concept of the time war and the open potential for proper sci-fi horror stories in it.

the books, comics and audio add so so much too it. There is so much lore that people don't know about. The horror.

Unfortunately, without John Hurt, we cannot fully explore the Time War. It can be fleshed out in other media such as Big Finish but we'll never get the full story and no matter how good a voice actor they get, he won't be John Hurt.

I wonder how John Hurt slaughtered his enemies. It's implied that he rarely resorted to using a gun but we do see his Sonic Screwdriver blast away a Dalek in Day of the Doctor, albeit with the help of two other Doctors. Smashing through them with the TARDIS is a crude way of fighting but that also worked.

Hmm. Yeah this comment aged horribly. I was pretty okay with Moffat’s limited usage of Gallifrey. He brought it back and then solidified it’s return in hell bent and said he was done. I was really looking forward to how future writers would use Gallifrey going forward. Like in classic who it opened again so many new avenues for stories. And then Chibnall happened. He somehow managed to destroy Gallifrey TWICE in series 12 AND abuse its return. It wasn’t even destroyed in a way that made sense or had any impact. Am I really supposed to believe that after managing to last until the last day of the time war and then being saved by all 12 Doctors, and then being in a parallel pocket dimension, and then being lost, and then being found 4.5 billion years later; that Gallifrey got completely destroyed and all timelords killed by the Master? The same master that both had a redemption arc and had the most definitive death to date the last time we saw them? The same master who got his drums cured and was slightly less insane? The same master that RAN AWAY FROM THE TIME WAR?!!! I’m just waiting to wake up from this nightmare and find out that we’re still on series 10 (I really wanted Peter Capaldi to stay for 4 more series as he was my favorite, but I can’t say I do anymore). Can Moffat just please come back and postpone the series 10 finale until series 11? I desperately need my dream team back (12, Bill, Nardole, and Missy personal favorite tardis crew in the revived era).

Lyrics to the song in the background - Adapted because this video changed the original song and phrases that I believe to strongly relate to Doctor Who are written in bold.
*When the words weigh heavy on the heart*
*I am lost and led only by the stars*
    *Cage me like an animal*
*A crown with gems and gold*
    *Eat me like a cannibal*
    *Chase the neon throne*
    *Breathe in, breathe out*
    *Let the human in*
    *Breathe in, breathe out*
    *And let it in*
*Plants awoke and they slowly grow*
    *Beneath the skin*
    *So breathe in, breathe out*
    *Let the human in*
*The air is silk, shadows form a grin*
    *Cage me like an animal*
*A crown with gems and gold*
    *Eat me like a cannibal*
    *Chase the neon throne*
    *Breathe in, breathe out*
    *Let the human in*
    *Breathe in, breathe out*
    *And let it in*
    *Cage me like an animal*
*A crown with gems and gold*
    *Eat me like a cannibal*
    *Chase the neon throne*
*If I could only let go*
(Yes, I can find a viable reason that strongly relates all of the lyrics to Doctor Who in some way or another.)

I think this is my favourite video you've made. I absolutely adore how you pick out different characteristics/plotlines and then order them to tell a story (this is The Doctor's past, his loss family, then leads to the Time War, then what he had to do to end it, and finally coming back home, all wrapped up in him just telling his memories like a story (or a song)). But everytime I watch the bit where it's building up to The Doctor making his choice and cutting to "Can I have a lemonade?" and we see the Tenth Doctor still, with the gun, waiting for the 12th Doctor to continue recounting the tale to fit with a slight lull in the song is just incredible.

Idk about any of you, but when I see him the doctor I feel that is what I'm for, to be good and decent and above all just kind, no big powers no weapons just him in a way when we die here we change form and go on so in a way we are more like the time lords than we know, let's be a doctor? Why not, it's all just a good show, scary, happy, sad but a jolly good show indeed, be kind be happy

These are really nice. One idea I had was a "What happened to those who travel with you" companion specific video. I think it would be cool. You could show the rise and fall of some of the best companions, and the deaths of a few, because as the doctor put it, "some died." Just a random thought.

Bless John Hurt. Such a stellar career. I can't imagine something more memorably heroic than Day of the Doctor.

    • @tomnorton4277

I wasn't very familiar with John Hurt before Day of the Doctor. I saw him as Ollivander in Harry Potter but he didn't leave much of an impact on me and in V for Vendetta, he was just a screaming tyrant throughout the film. However, I feel like I saw him at his best in Doctor Who. Can you imagine the pressure he was under? He was 1) the oldest actor to ever play the Doctor, 2) retconned into existence because Chris Ecclestone refused to return, 3) required to convince us that he was the Doctor with no development and only two very short scenes of buildup before the 50th Anniversary, 4) in danger of being overshadowed by Matt Smith, David Tennant and Tom Baker, the 3 most popular Doctor's of all time and 5) required to respectfully cement his Doctor during the biggest milestone in Doctor Who history. Despite being under more pressure than any Doctor since Patrick Troughton, Hurt somehow managed to pull it off. If Peter Capaldi had been in that position, he would have buckled under the weight. Capaldi's not as good an actor as people make him out to be but Hurt 100% deserved his legendary reputation.

You know what this made me realise? The Eleventh Doctor really doesn't talk - explicitly - about the time war. In the new who, nine and ten voice their anger, their annoyance, much more openly, and twelve, with the knowledge of the fiftieth, does so as well, though with a different tone. But Eleven, well, he shows his pain, his memories of the time war with actions, with looks and glances, with the hatred buried beneath the surface. I think this is talked about sometimes, but this video really illustrated the difference for me, and it was great and frightening.
