I always maintain the idea that the time war, any time war, becomes part of the same event. There isn't more than one time war, jus the moment that first temporal bullet gets fired it picks up the last war right where it left off. It's the old saying of Peace is the time between wars, except you remove the Time between part. You can't have peace when you get bombed by someone from 20 years later. etc. Though the fourth mediocre time war was pretty funny, with all those hats and dance offs.
Despite Paul McGann not doing much as the 8th Doctor when it came to live TV, his Doctor was the one who had to make the most difficult decision in all the Doctor's lives. One that would lead to consequences because there was no other way. A landmark moment.
"Great Men are forged in fire, it is the privilege of lesser men to light the flame." Sounds like a romanticized version of "weak men make hard times, hard times make strong men..."
As history looks at it, it's the other way around. Hard men always look to prove they are hard. While it's the people left behind who have to fix things.
@@josephstahl9119 I mean, thats not true either. Pick up any list of medals give for valour, VC, MoH, GC, CGC, DSC, and you'll see a list of extremely hard men who often wanted nothing but to not be there, but they had a job to do.
This was epic. I understand the Doctor's pain of destroying his home. But as he said himself, he had no choice, it was destroying Gallifrey or watching the universe collapse from the Time Lords' return. Good thing that's not what happened in the end.
Galifrey has survived the challenges brought to it after the Great Time War. Now instead of staying in one fix moment of time. the Time Lords have to send Galifrey on a series of paths where it is traveling across time itself. Now the Time Lords are preparing the next race who will become one of the masters of Time Travel. One Time Lord was chosen to help the race to become what seems to be the successors of the Time Lords. Yet the same race whom the Time Lords want to be their successors are learning that they need the the help of the Time Lords. Esp. to prevent another Great Time War. As the Time Lords learn of their successors wanting to be their partners, the Time Lords began to accept the challenge of helping their new partners. One Time Lord had help to save his people more than once. Sometimes never noticing it on occasion. Now it is up for this Time Lord to start a long search to find the person who he really is. If the Doctor is going on a long search to find himself, he needs to find time to answer a question which has prevented him from understanding how he became one of the greatest saviors in the Known Universe. The question which the Doctor needs to answer is "What happen to my own family?" Now the Doctor looking for his family. For the Doctor, he wants to find a few answers to the troublesome question.
The unfortunate reality is that the Doctor may have ended the war but he didn't win it neither did the Timelords the Daleks won because the Emperor's ship survived and the Cult of Skaro escaped in the Void ship so all the Timelords died for nothing
Though if the war didn't end there and then imagine how much worse it would have been even if he could change his choice he couldn't or u could say anniversary not using the weapon saved the daleks too

The fatal flaw with time travel fiction is however big a mess is made of things it must have been fixed / never happened or you wouldn't exist to fix it. Except if you fixed it, there's nothing to solve. So why did you travel in time to recruit yourself......
Genesis Of The Daleks was the Timelords attempt to win the war before the Daleks became a threat. Remembrance Of The Daleks is when Davros made his intentions towards the Timelords apparent, and The Doctor tricking him into destroying his own planet didn't derail them.
Wasn't that kind of the point though? An endless war where literally every second of history from the beginning to the end of reality has been used to try and defeat the enemy? Never ending slaughter, no respite, no hope, no change. Seriously fucked up stuff really.
