The only reason the AE86 was the fastest car in Initial D was because of the circumstances of street racing. None of them could really push it to the limit, but Takumi could use the 86 to its maximum potential because it's such a driver's car that he could control unlike any else. Street racing also explains why drifting was, in fact, the best technique for the drivers in the series to corner, because it allows a much more predictable slip angle and in turn, more control. This is similar to why the drift in rally and was even explained in one episode. The abundance of drifting also lead to an advantage to Takumi and the 86 because it lost demonstrably less speed in a drift compared to other cars such as the RX7.
Very good comments, but drifting can never be faster than racing, racing is about efficiency, you need to be going the slowest you can and still be first. Spinning tires get hot an lose traction, they lose efficiency and cohesion. I love the anime and Tak is amazing but nature of drifting will never beat racing . Ultimately the fastest way around the track is to be fully in control of the car at all times. The fastest times on a track never ‘look fast’, they look smooth. Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.
@@ahsanfarooqi5854 I know, I meant the start, I thought you meant the intro music, not the outro. The running in the 90s was obvious when I heard it. Any clue what the remix is called?
9:13 is a pretty good time though. I have a car that compares to the AE86 (110hp to 800kg C Kadett), fastest I've managed so far is a 9:30. Not all to familiar with the track yet though (it's fairly expensive to go around) and I had a passenger. The other problem I have is that the car is geared far too short, I top it out on a lot of the straight sections and taking the carousel around the bottom is a no go because the car will bottom out on every plate. I'm hopefully going to look into a longer final gear, maybe some bigger 14" wheels and then I'll go around again, see where my time compares.

Could be the ones built by TRD, which are rare these days and probably also hard to get by at the time in the story of IniD. A bit too expensive for regular Tofu shops as well.
You should lap the Nordschleife in a stock GT86
Awesome vid as always Jimmy! What about a 2018 Honda Civic Type R lap to try and beat the front wheel drive lap record..
Jimmy is so fast compared to most of us, even more so seeing onboard and footwork, but damn the WR is 8:56:801
Now, Jimmy May I give some sugestions? Since you'll do more street cars.. I'd love to see how a Porsche 959 would do in the Ring, also could be fun watch you struggle to get a lap in a American Muscle around the Green hell. Love the content cheers from Brazil

NANI!?
I was just about to get my Anorak out and show how much of an intial D nerd I am by dishing out facts and figuers and how the car was never standard and this isn't a proper representation of takumis car ect.. but screw all that nonsense. Gr8 video Jimmy thanks for sharing was fun to watch
Could you do a Audi RS6 or something ? Like the road car theme!
Not about speed, it is about how fun this car is around EVERYTHING!!!
thanks for another awesome video jimmer
i always preferred the skyline GTR (every model). looks, engines and sound ... their bloody gorgeous cars.
I have fully memorized this circuit because of how much it is used in online lobbies
Nah
I didn't know what I've wanted from life until I've seen this video ... why can't I like in millions :D
Coolest drivers car out there, thanks Jimmer
Lap the nordschleife with that one iconic BMW from NFS games
You need to check out the videos of finnish Toyota Corolla GT's rallying. Such a glorious screaming engines 😍
Great video. Please do the most powerful racecar ever build, the Porsche 917/30 next!
Running in the 90s! That's what your theme is! Jeeeeeez it's been bugging me for months because I recognized it and couldn't peg it.
Isnt it Deja Vu?
@@mr.thiccdaddy3576 I just realized it's not always the same theme. This one is a heavily modified Running in the 90s.
@@ahsanfarooqi5854 I know, I meant the start, I thought you meant the intro music, not the outro. The running in the 90s was obvious when I heard it. Any clue what the remix is called?
@@mr.thiccdaddy3576 ooooh. I've never paid attention to the opening music. No idea what the remix is.
You need to try the Nissan GT-R V spec on nordschleife it is pretty fast..
Great drive enjoyed watching
It actually sounds pretty close to the anime's engine sound! Nice :D
You made Bunta proud, Jimmy
Happy New Rigg
Nice rev usage and great gutter technique jimmer, bunta would be pleased.
Jimmy: i think it's an open diff
Ae86: *laughs in live axle*
I have been waiting for this
*EuroBeat Kicks In*
Where is the cup of water jimmer? Great job as always. Something so sweet about this car
I agree, he needs it to race for Project D tommorow night.
Just tried this and got a solid 9.59. Lots to learn!
Easy quick formula for guaranteed UA-cam entertainment: Jimmer + AE86 + Nordschleife + Eurobeat = fun fun fun!!!
Jimmer could you try lapping the Zonda R around the ring (if you haven’t already)? Love the channel and love the Nurburgring series!
Step 1: Turn on eurobeat playlist
Step 2 : Change video speed to 2x
Excellent, you got real lap time !
ONLY 122hp? From a n/a 1.6 inline 4 built in the 80s I'd say that's pretty good. Anyway, as always, great driving Jimmer!
The AE86 trains the driver after all
Nice driving Sir!
Hey Jimmer. Big fan. Weird question. Is there any possible way you could upload an actual VR video if its not too hard? That way we could use a VR headset to experience these amazing hotlaps first hand.
actually the GT Apex model of the '85 Corolla did have individual throttle bodies
i literally listened to eurobeat while watching this video, greatest experience ever
