ദൈവം ഉണ്ട് എന്നതിന്റെ മറ്റൊരു തെളിവ് ആയി ഞാൻ ഇതിനെ കാണുന്നു. കാരണം, കഴിഞ്ഞ 40-45 വർഷമായി കേരളത്തിൻറെ തെക്ക് വടക്ക് യാത്ര ചെയ്യുന്ന എനിക്ക് വളരെ വ്യത്യസ്തമായ എത്രയെത്ര സീറോ മലബാർ ബലിയർപ്പണം കാണേണ്ടി വന്നു. അന്നെല്ലാം മനസ്സുരുകി ഈശോയോട് ചോദിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. I attended the holy mass today, with a tormented heart at St.Antony's Church Kizhakkambalam, Ernakulam. The vicar did not accord to the synod. So sad.

An excellent and well informed presentation that can go a long way to bring unity in the Syromalabar Church.
We are much worried about the situation of our church. Honorable Bishops should act with prudence. Equerestic celebration must be simple meaningful and inspiring. Both groups must respect and obey the pope. Otherwise it will be the beginning of the end of the syro Malabar church. Our clergymen are sometimes worse than politicians. They are preaching big things and doing entirely different things. we laity are totally helpless now. Both groups should conduct a referendum among the clergymen and laity. Let us forgive and forget the mistakes. Otherwise what happened to western church will be happened to Syro Malabar church.

Unity is more important than direction. That is what the synod is trying to convey. The synod is trying to inculcate elements from both versions of Mass. It doesn't matter to God in which direction you are standing. God is beyond space and time. But as a community we need unity in atleast the most holy worship of all. We should not quarrel in this matter and give chance to satan. The essence of holy communion as the word implies ' in union with God and Brothers'. May God bless everyone with the spirit of unity. Amen

As per Bible, priest should the face of priests to madubaha, not their back... Priests, bishop should show the character of Jesus Christ, not the wordly or Satans character. God will punish who acts against God, s commandments.
Where in Bible it is written like that? Jesus instituted the sacrament by sitting round a table. In acts of apostoles also we can read that they remembered Lords supper by sitting together. If you want more clear picture please go and read the books of early church fathers .

Please understand this.
Correct. For over 2000years,till 2nd Vatican Council, priests offered Holy Mass facing God, people behind joining in offering the sacrifice of Jesus. Priest is Vicar of Christ here. Moreover, showing one's back to God is not proper, as we know, even before an earthly king one walks backwards when leaving from the king's presence.

The syro malabar church was once a part of the Indian Orthodox Church. Celebrating Mass facing the congregation is a Latin practice which started in the early 1960s after s decision to that effect by the vatican. The syro malabar church must return to its orthodox roots. Those who want Mass with priest facing the congregation should join the Latin church.
Syro Malabar Church was never a part of Malankara Orthodox Church. It is evident from the liturgy of both churches. Syro Malabar Church uses Chaldean (East Syriac )Liturgy while Malankara Orthodox Church uses Antiochian( West Syriac) Liturgy.

Chaldean Catholic Patriarchate was established only in 1553.Before that, the Chaldean Patriarchate was Orthodox only and NOT Catholic.

The relevance here is that the Chaldean Patriarch and the Prelates who ruled the Marthoma Christians before the advent of the Portuguese were not Catholic and the liturgy imposed by them was not Catholic.The Oriental congregation and the SMC synod is trying to catholicize this Nestorian liturgy. If the Latin tradition is foreign,the Chaldean tradition is equally foreign. Why don't the SMC synod develop an indigenous Theology and Liturgy of their own?

In fact all were complaing about the ignorance and persecution from the Portugese and the Latin Church. 3rd,the Christianity established in Malabar by Thoma Sliha had an organic connection with the Chaldean Church from the very beginning, because Thoma Sliha is theirs also.4th,for over 2000years from the Apostles' s time, priests stood facing God while offering Holy Mass, people joining from behind, because priest is Vicar of Christ and the Qurbana is offered to the Heavenly Father. 5th, Holy Mass is not the remembering of the Last supper around the dining table at Sehion; Holy Mass is Jesus' miraculous way of making present to us in our time His Sacrifice on the Cross at Calvary- only it is a LIVE presentation, only a true God can achieve. 6th, only after the 2nd Vatican,these kinds of wrong steps in the name of modernisation have started.Lord Jesus is eternal son of the eternal Father; no change or modernisation for Him.Jesus is the same yesterday, today,and tomorrow. 7th,further,even before an earthly king ,it is disrespectful to show one's back; one leaves his presence walking backward. Another thing, where is it written in the Council document that the priest should be facing the congregation during the Holy Mass?

The so called Marthima christians may be better called "Marthoma Hindus".They were Christians only for the name sake and even didn't have a Theology or Liturgy of their own.Even if,for the sake of argument, we agree that the Latin missionaries divided the Marthoma Christians in to Catholic and Non Catholic factions,who divided the Non Catholic factions into the several splinter groups like the Orthodox ,Jacobite,Marthoma,Evangelical etc.etc.churches and the innumerable Pentecostal groups ?.Quarrelsome nature and groupism are the genetic traits of the Marthoma Christians( much like the Kerala Congress Party).

@@Leo-do4tu OP didn't even talk about the subsequent divisions that you pointed out, let alone blame the Portuguese for those. All they mentioned was about the FIRST split in the Church. It's obvious how black a spot that is on the syro malabar catholic conscience, considering how quick you changed the subject to the later divisions without uttering a word about the atrocities committed by Menesez and co. to our ancient Church.
And we all have heard the recent stance of syro malabar historians that Diamper was not a canonical synod. In Malayalam, we have a saying.. പാലം കടന്നപ്പൊ കൂരായണ.
