I have these 2 doorbells. The fact the battery one, even when its wired, starts recording the person very late is a deal breaker. Especially if the person approaches from the side. It only picks them up when they have pretty much already walked by. Where as the cheaper wired doorbell has some sort of preroll feature. I'm returning the battery one.
If the camera (the battery) is turned on the power, is it always turned on?
Just picked up the wired version on Prime day. Agree the battery version seems better based on your review but couldn’t pass on the sub-$50 price tag. Happy with the wide viewing angle and sound is acceptable for our needs and super easy to install. We use our Alexa Echos for notification. Great job on this video, as well as the others. Keep at it and you’ll increase your subs for sure!
i love my spotlight camera. No infrared white/black you get pure color with a light and an alarm siren! nowadays with porch pirates we need the spotlight color version.
I have the battery powered version of this camera and I am satisfied with its performance.
I have the battery powered version. Works well when it works... seems that after some weeks it slows down on alerts and then starts missing events completely. The ring customer service is very good. Had to call them several times in the last 3 months. We set up the adjustments repeatedly but it still slowly stops working as advertised,. Eventually they are just sending me a new unit. Hope this one works.
a few months later and 2 replacements. i gave up. Very late alerts, no alerts, having to reset devices every day, even a few times a day to keep it working. I think Ring doesn't work well with older phones, even if they meet the requirements. Frustrating. Just could not get it to work. Got the Eufy doorbell and it works! Same phone and Wifi. Ring seems to work for the majority of people. But it did not work for me.
I just bought the battery version and it’s working great.
Question: How often does the unit have to be charged & will it notify me?

Bought the battery version and wired to the existing chime and it's working great.
Wired version definitely shows faces somewhat better, but that's about it...
The last thing I want to do is remove the camera bezel and the camera and take it inside to recharge. The quality isn't that much different for the majority of applications.. I have the wired version and never had a single issue with it. Both are quite capable of producing very close to same resolution and the 15/fps vs/24fps is insignifcant unless you are watching something zoom by blistering fast crossing the camera. Also with either and say you lose power to your house - neither will capture or work because your wi-fi internet router has no power either.
Does it matter what one u get because they both work the same to me the only difference is one battery one wired
Do you have to have the chime?
So I can use the plug in wire for the wired camera?

Thank you for this video, I am looking to use the wired camera as just that in my rental home in the carribean,. There is no preexisting doorbell, will this still be possible?
I brought both one for another location. Great review because I thought I couldn't use the battery one even though it has wired capability.
I don't want to have to charge the doorbell though. how long does it hold a charge for?

the camera picks up the image /motion
quicker before it is in view/alerts you sooner also,that is what i got from the video,This is very important when they are there to steal or breakin, the quicker you are alerted the better,.What he did not say ,can this be contected to your phone for alerts,or not, ,guess not or he would have mentioned it.,if i am wrong ,someone will correct me.
Maybe you can compare the ring battery version to the Wyze pro doorbell camera

I live in an apartment complex that doesn't allow drilling. Just bought the ring (2020) battery powered doorbell camera. I'm looking for
-anti theft
-door mount
-my door is like an inch + thick so not too thick
-my door swings OUT
-I also have a door skirt
I am having the hardest time finding what I'm looking for
Have you tried getting the doorbell boa adapter device? It makes it so you can use the ring cameras without mounting and it’s in a protective casing so it can’t be stolen.
Audio sounds way better on the battery camera
