Very thorough and helpful. My only comment: the 1.2 meter height is a suggestion. Had you placed it one cm higher or lower, you could have avoided mounting into the mortar. In your case, one cm lower would have shown a little more of your front porch (to better see your packages) and a little less distant skyline. (No loss) I would encourage installers to tape the doorbell in place and check the camera view in the app to see if you’re getting the shot you want. Cheers!

Quick question, is there anyway to link this to echo audio devices so they alert you when someone pushes the bell or is it just the echo show devices with screens plus your iPhone/ iPad etc?
I’m certain it’s mentioned- however It’s very much dependent on your home, and where it is positioned, and what options you have set. If you live on a busy road with tonnes of cars, people, etc passing all day everyday, then it will run down faster, if you live in arse end of nowhere it will last a LOT longer. Things like HDR, colour night vision etc all uses battery life too.. Ring say it’s around 3 months, I’d say maybe a month with all the options I want turned on. HOWEVER, if you use the solar charger (I’ve made a video about it) you’re looking at 2-3 months - but again, that also depends on the position of your house, where in the world you live etc..
This probably sounds like a stupid question, but in order to share the device with someone else, they presumably already need to have the Ring App installed on their phone?
Will the battery life last at least a week before needing to change, note there are a lot of traffic on my block so I am sure the camera would probably alert me when cars pass by or a person.
Battery should last longer than a week. I’d also recommend looking at the solar charger I showed in a recent video that will prolong the life more too!

@@kiphakes thanks for reply. I just finished chat with customer support there is no removable protective film on the lens. My previous ring bell which was older model either had one or it was some kind of defect. I finaly removed it but lens surface got damage. It affected video quality

Hi Kip . This might sound like a stupid question but if I where on holiday abroad and had not paid for any subscription would I be alerted on my phone of someone at my door…
My understanding is You only get real time live footage, so yes it would notify you that someone is at the door, and you could go to the live footage to see and speak, however, if you missed the notification and tried to look back at who was at the door it wouldn’t show you.
I like the look of this one! Does anyone have it connected to a 5ghz wifi router? Quick look, and it seems that it won't connect. Any suggestions for an alternative?
@@kiphakes Hi, thanks for your reply! I actually forgot to delete this comment as after some research I found my router was a duel band and offered a 'guest' connection that I could set to 2.4ghz. I purchased the Doorbell Plus from amazon and hope to install it today!
what you could do to improve sound on a windy day is glue a section of womens tights to the cover infront of the microphone, maybe double the layer of tights, that will reduce wind noise a bit like a pop filter, the problem with manufacturing these days is make it cheap as the consumer wants, which means skimping on better quality items like a better microphone, or removing things like a pop filter from the product. which then defeats the one thing you really want to do is hear who is at the door.

Well I’ve not removed any 😂
@@kiphakes thanks for reply. I just finished chat with customer support there is no removable protective film on the lens. My previous ring bell which was older model either had one or it was some kind of defect. I finaly removed it but lens surface got damage. It affected video quality
You neglected mention that the new one can pick up the Northern Lights!!! 😳
Great vlog. i am getting this ring doorbell.
I’d maybe consider holding off until Prime Day if you’re getting it direct from Amazon.. reckon it will have a discount. 👀
I had a hard time removing the face plate so just slide a thin credit card or clubcard into the gap around it and it will pop off
Great tip 🙌🏻
Unsure I need one for front door and have the doorbell 4 at front so unsure as not keen on how fisheye looks any advice
If you want a wider field of view - fisheye is the way forward
@@kiphakes if I have a 4 at front door will this just be able to go in it’s place and use the 4 at back door as need more view at front
@@jamiefinlay6674 yes, I think the mounting holes are the same
What about a side wall mount?
I can’t show every combination of mounting hardware, but you should be able to get a side mount from Amazon
@@kiphakes so if the door is in front of you , the right side wall is perpendicular to the front door .. that’s where my doorbell is closer to the corner of the two 😕
Maybe something like this might help? amzn.to/3N59jfX
@@kiphakesthank you
Thankyou for an informative and useful video. very helpful.
You’re very welcome x
I never added, we are an older couple, who needed to check everything out, first, whilst awaiting the delivery of our bell. We knew nothing of the installation, or anything else, really. Your video has certainly helped with that. Very well explained and down to earth instructions. Showing everything, not just a few steps with blank inbetween!!! Thanks again
Absolutely brilliant review. You cover all aspects properly. One question though, why do you chew your fingernails? Keep up the good work.
Haha, because I’m socially awkward! Thanks for watching!
Can one ask when it is wired up, does the light on the front stay on all the time or go off after a certain time please
Can’t help, mine isn’t wired
Does one know of anyone that has wired there ring doorbell
I think i missen it how deus the storage work is it payed monthly always whit the ring doorbells ones?
I literally cover that.
@@kiphakes oke i missed it what time do you talk about it?

Bargain!
Thanks for your comment! Just grabbed one too lol
Hi what drill bit did you use for the plugs?
The answer is in the comments somewhere!
I enjoy watching you play with ure ring 👀
😅
what do you do for rainy weather?
Nothing? It's fine in all weathers! :)
Thank you so much for your informative video it was so helpful.😊
You’re so welcome xx
what Mount are u using for it I have the Corner one and I hate it
It’s now mounted on a solar charger, I made a follow up
@@kiphakes so Solar works with this doorbell

Thanks alot of help with set up
Hi can it be connected using a phone hotspot?
In theory, yes, but I don’t think it would be reliable at all.
Ok thanks and thanks for your quick reply 👍
I have set my Ring to take a snapshot once an hour, but I cannot see how to view the snapshots?
As you scroll along the timeline and it moves like a stop motion movie, those are the snapshots.
can you see this going on sale before Christmas
They generally have a few price drops during the year.. keep checking the prices
@@kiphakes £119 now Iv placed a order
Hi dose the plus doorbell work with 5g on your phone as I cant find any information on it
It needs to be connected to WiFi, the phone app will send you notifications over WiFi or cellular data.
I like the look of this one!
Does anyone have it connected to a 5ghz wifi router?
Quick look, and it seems that it won't connect.
Any suggestions for an alternative?
Can’t help with an alternative, however a lot of doorbells use 2.4ghz because although it’s not fast these days, the range is VERY good still
@@kiphakes Hi, thanks for your reply! I actually forgot to delete this comment as after some research I found my router was a duel band and offered a 'guest' connection that I could set to 2.4ghz.
I purchased the Doorbell Plus from amazon and hope to install it today!
is this a good upgrade from Doorbell 2
Yes, absolutely, that’s several generations older now
what you could do to improve sound on a windy day is glue a section of womens tights to the cover infront of the microphone, maybe double the layer of tights, that will reduce wind noise a bit like a pop filter, the problem with manufacturing these days is make it cheap as the consumer wants, which means skimping on better quality items like a better microphone, or removing things like a pop filter from the product. which then defeats the one thing you really want to do is hear who is at the door.
Great tip!
yes, your video was very helpful, thanks
Ahh thanks! Pleased to hear it 🙌🏻
Nicely done
Thanks!
Door Bell Plus has night color vision, you should enable that!
I mention that, and show footage of it!
How long do the batteries last
Battery lasts about a month.. however, if you look at my video on the solar charger for this.. it’s a game changer!
Will Ring ever do USB C for charging
Maybe in the next Generation?
@@kiphakes I thought the charging station is USB C
Ridiculous they used micro usb lol
did you use the Corner mount with it?
I didn’t
@@kiphakes ah ok Im not used to it because im coming from Doorbell 2nd Gen where the mount is completely different. what mounts are like Doorbell 2nd Gen for the battery plus
@@scottybee8 I don’t have any experience of those
@@kiphakes ah ok well im currently changing mine to make it like Doorbell 2nd Gen
Will Ring do a 4K camera
Maybe? 4k cameras would require a lot more processing power, battery power and cloud storage space
@@kiphakes ah ok
Thanks
If all screws hit the mortar surely you could of raised the position of the doorbell a little bit and all 4 would of hit brick
I wanted the unit to sit above the mortar line underneath it, it’s fine. 👌🏻
will they ever put Sirens into the Doorbells
Unlikely!
@@kiphakes definitely need one
