- I had an older Ring doorbell (1st generation) and decided to upgrade to this one. Went from 720P with a scratched lens to 1080P and it made a big difference. I also got a wedge mount for mine so that I could see everything from the side. The Ring doorbell is pretty easy to set up and install - you do have to pay a monthly fee if you want to keep the recordings however. I have same issue...in wanting to replace 1st gen doorbell with 2023 version. I want to move the old version to my porch location. Could you cover on how to update or delete so to change device locations at the same address. TY! 😊
Installed this using the battery option but changed to hard-wire option a few days later. With the battery, notifications are received on the Ring app almost immediately (in real time). There's a definite, noticeable lagging with the hard-wired option. The doorbell will ring but you won't receive the notification on your phone app till maybe 15 seconds later.

I'm a little confused. You didn't want real time updates? I'm only asking because I don't have a door ball to wire too.
Can you install it without the security screws? My box came without bag B which should contain them..and the box also didn’t come with that sticker

My kit which is 2nd generation only came with 1 wedge which is fine & is flat one side & hollow the other ! Do I attach to wall on flat side so that mounting plate on back of phone can be screwed into it ? What attaches mounting plate to phone? Is it using the single security screw that is tightened with supplied blue screw ?driver

We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.
Humm. Some reason it seems like it will fail due to power issues. He did not change to 24v as required. Nor did he changed the chime wiring.
wow i didnt even know abt the wedge mount and it obs is not capturing certain areas of my property, Would this work on ring battery-meaning once mounted, am able take the bell off to recharge?

Can you set it to see the bottom of the door where your door draft blocker is under front door and where packages are left directly in front of door on the floor AND THE PERSON LEAVING PACKAGE?? I want to be able to see the floor directly in front of my door and the whole head to toe image of anyone standing in front of or to the side of my apt door. Is this possible?
The second generation ring cut the height down of the picture. You might have to use the tilt down bracket along with this to point it downward along with angle it
I have found that alien double sided tape works great. But I need to know if and how I can have two ring door bells work off of one wifi as I have two front doors that receive delivers.

When I connected my ring my ringer inside house do not work
I don't think everyone have issue about install and activation but to prevent from thieves, how do you prevent from thieves since the mounting install is not too secure
It has screws to keep the ring to the mount and the mount itself has screws to keep it connected to the wall. A thief would be going through a bit of trouble to get it off.
@IansTech What about the charge of battery, how long does it last and does it need to remove from the wall to recharge?

Do you mean the existing chime plus a doorbell ring on the ring itself? If so then yes, you’ll have the ring make a noise but you’ll hear the chime inside when connected.
Is the battery version really better then hard wired?
One question: what’s to keep an idiot from just stealing it? That’s my big worry! 😂
I’m here because I want a ring doorbell but here’s my dilemma I live on the first floor but I have 2 flights of steep steps my house is on a slope and front door is right at the top of the steps so I did a test with a GoPro mounted where I’d want the bell to be and did a test to see if the GoPro could see me in front of it the first test I had it too low and only got shots of my neck so I moved it up and i finally got the perfect height to see my face so I marked the spot I’d put the ring at but here’s the thing I won’t be able to see anyone approaching till they get to the top of the steps how could I angle the ring doorbell so that I’d be able to see someone approaching from the sidewalk and coming up the steps before they even get to the top
i believe they have a wedge that goes up and down instead of sideways

That’s not a Ring 2. Ring 2 has removable battery.
This is the Ring Video Doorbell 2nd generation. The naming scheme they use is very confusing but it is a 2nd generation.
I have this model and although it has the battery, there's also the option to hard-wire.
Have you a abo for the bell?
This is so ridiculous ... last time I buy Ring. I am just going to attach it to my wall using Velcro and use the battery

This is my 2nd one& it is irritating and won't set up..I wish I.could return it...to.argos.i paid 200.00 for 1st one yo be set up..he was useless..I paid 50.00 for more help...did.not.last ...bought a new one for 59.99 and I cant set.it up...never again. Waste of money..

Good video, but you must have been on a caffine high. You rushed through it very fast. Please consider going a little slower with your videos, since they are for instructional use.
You can control how slowly you hear the video by clicking on that little silver cog in the upper right corner or your UA-cam screen.
