Very true. These earthly things we care about mean nothing. It's all a distraction. Peace and enlightenment come from hard battles within not finding comfort externally

People, in my opinion, including myself, often tend to struggle identifying the fine line between when it's necessary to actually care and when to just let go. Stoicism definitely has useful insights in this regard. The recurring theme of non-attachment across Buddhist and Taoist scriptures seem so vital, it sometimes surprises me how these are not mandatory subjects in every school and other educational institutions.
@@chriswilliams8159 I hit the jackpot when I finally stumbled across some basic Stoicism. Practicing the simplest techniques saved my life more than once since then. The amount of control over life's toll on my emotions alone was/is like night and day. Still it's unfortunate it was well into my adult years, and out of desperation to survive overwhelming mental anguish. I'm more suspicious than surprised it's not a basic mandatory school subject. It's been my observation that narcissistic people still always try to frame it as some kind of callous form of malicious bigotry with their sick, endless fight for control to tell us what to think. I used to try to argue in good faith with them. Now I just agree with them as I back away 🪨👍
I had this same realisation when I was i history class. To me, it was when we learnt about the Jews during Hitler's control of Germany. I learnt they were put into ghettos, where they were confined to this one area of land. They had tight living conditions, not a lot of food, were separated from friends, and weren't even able to go on vacations anywhere. Learning about this, I immediately decided in my mind that these people must have led such sad, unfulfilling, painful lives. But then, I learnt that actually, they simply went about their life as usual! People helped give food to the poor, and they created their own society within that place. Even in such limited conditions, people accepted their situation, embraced it, and managed to find their own purpose and happiness. And that was when it hit me, that happiness doesnt depend on outside objects. Happiness is just about perspective. Its just the belief that I have enough, and I dont need anything more for this life to be complete. Happiness truly comes from within, since it isn't dependent on anything else. Mindblowing at the time, now i wonder why I ever thought differently.
Gosh I love these videos. They are so calming. I feel ancient texts are so valuable, because they expose the simplistic ways of living and thinking that used to exist but don't any more in the modern world. Coming back to that is really valuable.
We live in capitalist consumerism and as a child they condition us to want more. It's important to share this wisdom to the youth so they do not become mentally ill.
It is assuming that "rich" people are discontent, and poor people are happy. Not true. It is a state of mind. You can be happy with everything or nothing.
I see as whether you are rich or poor, if you care about material things to give you joy or desire/obtain them to show others “you can afford them” or get in a trend, then you are not going to be happy. “Money cant buy happiness, but i’d rather cry in a Ferrari parked in a 2 million dollars home” 😂
I have found that Ashwagandha helps me "not care." I would note, however, that taking too much can result in not caring to the point of loss of motivation.
I chose this path before I ever knew what philosophy was, now the only worry is health and income, even a small amount to provide shelter, nourishment & warmth, although I am blessed with minimal worry compared to many.

I've begun to care less at work, and everyone listens to what I have to say now. So I'm actually doing better now at work by caring less. WTF, but whatever. Physical appearance and mental health are about as good as they have ever been though thanks to gym dedication...that might have something to do with it also.
The less stones in your emotional sack, the further you can fly, and therefore see. Having no stones in your sack is also its own type of burden though. But all that means is that one should choose the stones in their sack wisely
It s not the less you care, it makes a clicky title but it is not the case. It is closer to Friston's Free Energy, when we stop with the expectations and embrace all that the universe offers, then we are truly free. Much like the Amor Fati and the Eternal Return of Nietzsche.
