Really? I haven't given Death Magnetic more than a once through and even though heads above anything they've done since the 80s, nothing on it really grabbed me to make me think of the good 'ol days of Metallica. This new album does that for me big time.
His double bass is so fake and touched up with studio tricks lol. Listen to the original version and hear how sloppy his double bass is in that version, the one that didn’t get the studio treatment this one got. THAT’s how Lars naturally plays double bass these days. This isn’t.
I don't think people realize how amazing it is that these guys are still around, still touring, and still making music. One of the most influential bands in history, a group that's changed music as we know it, and they're still thrashing. It's fucking incredible and I'll never forget the all the times I was able to see them live \m/
This song is actually pretty positive. It talks about finally enjoying the great things that summer has to offer after a long cold and lonely winter, and partying to celebrate this widely loved season.
Thanks Metallica. I got clocked doing 157mph. on Interstate 65 listening to this song. Who knew a supercharched 1966 Buick Wildcat could do that? Thanks Metallica.
This is a MUCH better version than the one released in 2014. Edit 7/2/2021: This comment never deserved more than about 10 or 20 likes at most. You guys are a bunch of clowns for giving me any kind of positive attention if any kid. Anyhoo, I’d like to clarify that I’m fully aware that the reason this version is superior to the 2014 demo version is because… well… that was a demo, without any editing or mixing that makes a song sound listenable. Its basically comparing a rough initial beta build of a video game to its final completed release. I think what I was really commenting on back then was the stark contrast in fan reception between the two versions. I mean, from what I remember, the 2014 demo was pretty much despised by everyone; all of the comments on that upload were insanely negative and quite a few said that Metallica had “completely lost their way and are releasing utter crap now.” I actually always thought it sounded great, like a true Metallica tune; possibly the closest they’ve been to their ‘83 to ‘89 heyday sound in decades. As such I’m just so glad that the song was edited, sound-mixed, and given the professional Tallica treatment it deserves. Plus I’m really happy that other fans are now recognizing how great and true to Metallica’s roots it is - a very stark, but welcome contrast to its initial reception as a demo.
I've always connected metallica with fast car rides, drinks with my friends, and summer fun. This song has a special place in my heart because of that.
Honestly that’s what I think they intended with this song and your explanation is to the t. I love the energy this song gives. It’s like breathing air in to a dying fire and watching it roar back to life. They’ve always been a kick ass band.
As a bassist, I love the bass mix. It sounds great. And I love the thud of Lars' bass drums, kinda has that ...AJFA feel to them, just not quite as flat soundwise.
I'm not the only one who got the 3 disc version of HWTSD just for this song right!?I totally dig this song!!and I was hoping this song would be on the new album! and I got a even better then the older 2014 version to boot!!\m/\m/
Ricky Taylor Jr I got it for this song as well and there is like a whole cover/live album worth of songs on that disc \m/ !! I would have liked this to be in the tab book though but I will learn it from ear / other videos \m/ \m/

Its not really on an album. It was thrown into the deluxe version of hardwired but its not technically part of that album. Its just a standalone single that they did prior to hardwired.
Watching this video, the carefree joy and elation on their faces...Metallica seems to be all out of fucks to give and are just loving their lives. They've been through so much, from the rift with Mustaine to Cliff's death to James' alcoholism. They've overcome it all. Congrats to them.
Surprisingly, this is now my favourite song on the album. When I heard the live version I actually didn't think it was that good, but this version is pretty much perfect.
I've heard this song many, many times, and even this rerecorded version. For some reason, it just hit me how absolutely fantastic thing track is. Really, really good job, guys.
Yeah, i know, good album, but you know it does´nt feel like something new. I have listened to that album at least six times and i still don´t remember any lyrics or riffs, nothing new or exciting, only the same. But yeah Slayer it´s great. If something´s not broken, don´t fix it.
Really depends on opinion. But also, go check out spit out the bone. Very AJFA style, yet mixing the very modern sound. Perfect song to represent gen 3 metallica.
Also, all the riffs from this song are kick ass, especially the harmony bridge, but really, the verse riff really sounds like a recycle of the whiplash riff, and the post solo riff sounds like metal militia.
Really, I would love if kirk would have put the effort he did atleast with DM. Cause other than a minimum few solos, like spit out the bone, this album didnt really have that many great solos.

One of their best songs. I've purchased the Demo version on 2014 but this is much better. Metallica please never stop playing Thrash music. Thanks for the new album, specially thanks for Hardwired, Moth, Spit, Lords and Atlas!

My perfect track listing: Hardwired Atlas Rise Now That We're Dead Moth into Flame Dream No More Halo on Fire Lords of Summer Here Comes Revenge Confusion Spit Out the Bone All on one disc. The album would have been perfect.
I think this, followed by Confusion, Am I savage (I love the Megadeth chorus and the Gojira breakdown), and then Spit Out The Bone would have been perfect, maybe add a song from disc 1 so that they are balanced, probably Dream no More before Am I Savage, since both are very heavy.

It's funny how Metallica fans give them so much credit just because they now have an average drummer. FYI I'm not accusing you of doing that, just making an observation about how some of their fans act.
I mean, as long as a drummer can keep the beat, is he not a good drummer? Does hitting more stuff mean the music is "better"? I don't think so. Saying he is a bad drummer isn't very fair. He hits the things just fine.
AuGratin Look, I'm not trying to say he has to be doing blast beats all the time. In fact I think bast beats are over used in modern metal. But a good drummer knows how to serve the song. Lars's beats are repetitive, and I think sometimes he doesn't serve the song very well because the beat that would sound best is to hard for him to play. Of course that's just my opinion. And if you get enjoyment out of his drumming, that's great.
Lars' drumming is sort of a two-headed beast, on one side he could be doing more tom fills and you have half the "fans" saying he's doing too much. On the other he could play like he does in Atlas, Rise! and the other half of the "fans" will bitch about no tom fills and the lack of drawn out double bass sections. Let's face it, he's good for what he is. His 80's style will never return unless he goes back to his old ways, expands his kit drastically and plays hopped up on cocaine. He is far from the best, but not the worst. The worst critics are the jamokes who compare him to Dave Lombardo... in other words they're comparing two completely different drumming styles. Lars was far more versatile back in the day. He didn't need to rely on speed and double bass solely. Lars' best work was on ...AJFA, but even that shit was too complicated for the band to play live. Sure they played much of the album when they did the Damaged Justice Tour, but look at how many of those songs survived the years into today's setlists? Blackened, One and Harvester of Sorrow are about it. Hell, not even the title track or The Shortest Straw survive. I'd rather they put out something skillful and powerful, but not so complex that they just abandon it and leave it in the dark because they can't even play it without it being too demanding, physically and mentally
+Eric Cartman I have listened some solos where he sometimes uses fast tapping with wah, im not saying is executed the same way but at least it sounds similar a bit. Don't take my comment too seriously
for me Hardwired (the official opener of the concerts since 2016) is much better, it's so strong, ultra hyper mega faster, etc. Is the perfect opener for Metallica concerts
Solo is a masterpiece wtf Only Metallica can write a song that doesn’t make an album that’s better than any song played on rock music radio stations truly the most gifted band and happened to all meet each other to form it is almost impossible
Heard this the first time live and I could already hear it had potential. It's much better than I remembered. HArdwired is the best Metallica album since Metallica, released in 1991. Ofcourse load, reload and Death Magnetic were all good albums too. Even Saint Anger has its moments.
I think theirs no one better than the mighty Metallica and can't hardly wait to hear their new album coming out in April 2023 and theirs no one better than the metallica family ❤️ ♥️ 💜 😀 all over the world may GOD bless you all and the metallica band member and their road crews
This new album is amazing
Completely awesome, beyond my hopes
I can't wait for the release!
Awesome Bomb 03 i agree, but the death magnetic is better, in my opinion

Really? I haven't given Death Magnetic more than a once through and even though heads above anything they've done since the 80s, nothing on it really grabbed me to make me think of the good 'ol days of Metallica. This new album does that for me big time.
Don't know why, but when Lars does double bass, it's always special.
Probably because its rarely audible.
Estonian hello!
Because it reminds him and all of us fans how he played back in the day when they were in their prime.
Yea weird how he can only do it on a digital recording where it's easy to ctrl+c ctrl+v
@@ManletStrength not knocking Lars, I been a fan since 83. Probably cause he just remembered he had 2 bases! Lol

I generally agree but I wish they kept the "Lords of summer, Bring the sun!" lyric. I loved that.

WHAT A FUCKING COMEBACK!!! I AM BEYOND STOKED ABOUT THIS ALBUM! THEYRE BACK
im just happy that these days metallica still has some energetic and powerhouse concerts
Finally a music video I can watch without wondering what the hell im observing lol
Metallica been hitting it hard last 2 days
LOVE IT!
I love this song so much, but I never noticed this official MV until today!!😱👍❤️
It's sounds way better from some regular songs of the album and it's not on the album.
Agreed, should've included it on the track listing
actually, this is the excuse for the 3 disc Deluxe edition, is the first song
yup I preordered deluxe it showed up a day early.
I preordered on amazon and it told me it's delayed until the 28th!
JJordan1012 mine is delayed also from amazon. Im going to take a 30 min drive to a record store after work to grab a copy.
I really dig this song because not only does it sound exciting, but it's about celebrating! Something we don't always hear from Metallica...
Its about time. They finally made a kick ass album and are back to their roots.Hope they stay there.
Feels like 1986ish again,no?
I definitely like this track.
impatiently waiting those 4 lords in Moscow!!! \m/
Eric Cartman fatass
Kevin Luper shut up jew
K
I love the riff that starts at 4:30 it just makes you wanna break something.
4:28 that riff!! Perfection!!
And then 5:20 fucken wipe me down!! 😅
What? That's a big change on the song! Now the song is awesome? YES!!!!
I waited 27 years for a Metallica track like this
Metallica are the lords of everything.
How is this a bonus track? It is amazing!
man if they replaced ManUNkind with this song, and then had it open the second disc followed by Confusion... Disc 2 would be fucking killer
Absolutely!
Michael Huynh Why does everyone hate Manunkind? Much better than Confusion and Murder One imo.
Michael Huynh manUNkind is a fucking awesome song
Coltallic Manunkind is fucking amazing!
This is probably one of the best Metallica songs I've listened to in a long time
It should be on album.
but it is in the Deluxe version :v
deluxe edition cover suck :o well , normal edition too lol
This song is the reason i got the deluxe edition of the album on my birthday today :)
Eccentric Emolga hi there
okay then wasn't expecting a response like that
Fuck !! I got it to last year for my birthday , my wife give it to me.
I wasn’t settling for the 2 disc set because the 3 disc set had this song.
I'm glad you came back to the roots .... this is Metallica ... now you will find the best ....
Metallica thank u for making my year complete this is real metal
the lords of metal have returned!
I hope this sound is incorporated into more future material. It fits James' voice so well. It's a really clean metal sound. Plus, it kicks maxium ass.
GRACIAS METALLICA!!!
Sight
Pale riders into the night
Galloping harder and faster
Through your dreaming
Wake
Walk towards the fire innate
Frost bitten soul below zero
Excitation
Are you remembering the sound?
Recall the shaking of the ground?
Pounding
Pounding
No Remorse
Lords of summer set on course
Pushing
Pushing
Horsemen Ride
Lords of summer, undenied
At last the thawing has begun
Come trade your darkness for the sun
Melting the chill of winter’s turn
So celebrate and let your fires burn
The Lords of Summer have returned
Straight
Light passes through, penetrate
It’s been a long lonely winter
Illumination
Bright
Bathe in the volume and light
Reanimated by fire
Transformation
Become the nexus of the sound
Become the shaking of the ground
Pounding
Pounding
No Remorse
Lords of summer set on course
Pushing
Pushing
Horsemen Ride
Lords of summer, undenied
At last the thawing has begun
Come trade your darkness for the sun
Melting the chill of winter’s turn
So celebrate and let your fires burn
The Lords of Summer have returned
Whoa, Pounding
Pounding
No Remorse
Lords of summer set on course
Whoa, Pushing
Pushing
Horsemen Ride
Lords of summer, undenied
Undenied
At last the thawing has begun
Come trade your darkness for the sun
Melting the chill of winter’s turn
So celebrate and let your fires burn
The Lords of Summer have returned

This is one of my favorite MetallicA songs.
when lars plays well and does double bass it makes the whole song better
It's funny how Metallica fans give them so much credit just because they now have an average drummer. FYI I'm not accusing you of doing that, just making an observation about how some of their fans act.
I mean, as long as a drummer can keep the beat, is he not a good drummer? Does hitting more stuff mean the music is "better"? I don't think so. Saying he is a bad drummer isn't very fair. He hits the things just fine.
AuGratin
Look, I'm not trying to say he has to be doing blast beats all the time.
Nadie, repito: nadie ,,, Y justicia para todos 1988, sólo se Lars .
5:39 - 5:46 holy crap that sounded like Buckethead playing in Metallica
mark my words, I'm gonna be the one to take his mask off!
Ofek Gabbay some things are better left undiscovered
+Eric Cartman Lol I've been playing guitar for 5 years now, I just have been listening to BH last months and I noticed a similarity on how it sounds
+Eric Cartman I have listened some solos where he sometimes uses fast tapping with wah, im not saying is executed the same way but at least it sounds similar a bit. Don't take my comment too seriously
David Hdz. The only 7 seconds on the album Kirk doesn't get his solos from his ass.
Underrated song. Metallica should Open every concert with it. Awesome.
for me Hardwired (the official opener of the concerts since 2016) is much better, it's so strong, ultra hyper mega faster, etc. Is the perfect opener for Metallica concerts
Pura Metallica vida! Costa Rica presente!
Dig the energy from the band and audience in this video. Great tune.
Solo is a masterpiece wtf Only Metallica can write a song that doesn’t make an album that’s better than any song played on rock music radio stations truly the most gifted band and happened to all meet each other to form it is almost impossible
this one sounds much better 2014 version . Really good , sounds awsum now
Viva Metallica! Viva México!
Marco Antonio Soto Leo Lim ¡La música es vida!
Heard this the first time live and I could already hear it had potential. It's much better than I remembered. HArdwired is the best Metallica album since Metallica, released in 1991. Ofcourse load, reload and Death Magnetic were all good albums too. Even Saint Anger has its moments.
Totally agree. But I feel really warm feelings to "Load" and "Reload", maybe because these albums were first of Metallica I heard... And I love them.
this song is better than i remember it
stoltobot wayyyyyyyy better the difference is crazy
Still kicking ass for life
Actually the Lords of metal have returned
My favorite song this spring ☀️🔥
I think theirs no one better than the mighty Metallica and can't hardly wait to hear their new album coming out in April 2023 and theirs no one better than the metallica family ❤️ ♥️ 💜 😀 all over the world may GOD bless you all and the metallica band member and their road crews
