The “clans” experiment was the second most recent video of the Russian channel this channel is translating. Until more of that content is uploaded onto that channel (foo52ru), it is unlikely any new English content on that experiment will occur.
There isn't an *exact* equivalent, but the way Experiment #6 went is at least *somewhat* reminiscent of the kinds of plants you get in places where there are a lot of wildfires, where sometimes seeds literally have to burn before they even *begin* to sprout. Not exactly the same situation of course, but it feels at least somewhat like how that species doesn't grow up until the fog layer has passed far enough.
If you want to know, all these videos are translations from this channel: www.youtube.com/@foo52ru. So as long as that channel doesnt upload, this channel wont as well. It sounds like this guy makes them, but he doesnt
I think a gene that's sorely needed is one that allows a cell to be "mirrored". That is, activating the gene allows the left and right of all its genes to be swapped. This would give rise to more complex structures, and allow much greater adaptability with a minimal increase to genetic complexity.
Wow, #6 is such a good example of how evolution works, and how with enough "runs" (read simulation, or in the real world generations) enough lucky accidents absolutely can happen.
Is there a way to manually create a tree from the ground up, so to speak? Manual control of each genome could open up a whole new set of tests for you to run. It would be a fun challenge to see if you can design a tree that survives energy levels 6 or lower
I love this project. The genome system is simple but intresting. Maybe with more genes or new "blocks". Maybe 1 block type for the leaves, 1 for seeds, 1 for the trunk part, 1 for the branches, 1 for the roots. The leaf need for the Sun energy and the roots for the water underground. I have a lot of other ideas😂 now i want start write something. Not like this, i want write my own system completly different with different genome system. Too curious to see what will happen.
#6 was cool, first they populate the full map and when hard times hit (fog) the best survive as high as posible to let the seed fall as high as possible to win time from the fog.
I think the trees would have had a better chance of surviving even at a low energy level if the fog had been combined with the day/night cycle from the last video, since it would have already regularly had periods of low energy against in the simulation as a result.
I like this. Just any other Christians watching this realize that he set the mutation rate and time passing super high, plus assuming trees start out of nowhere. Ignoring that, cool.
have you made any moving organisms? I imagine it would be similar to the non moving ones but they get their own grid, instead of just being placed statically in the world grid. These grids could move and subgrids may be created via "joint cells". It's just an idea of course, I have no idea how it would act in practice.
I have an idea. You can add mountains and when the short-lived plants spread through the map, they will differentiate according to whether they are on a mountain or not.
Make it a game, I would play for hours. With us by your side,, imagine how many info we could gather, helping us understanding the mechanism of Mutations, Imagine if your experiment would be done, with one more gene. Please, make it a game. Kindly Josie Teckart
This is pretty cool! I have noticed the simulation chugging a little bit when there are many trees. Are you thinking about optimizing the code so that it runs better, or are you generally satisfied with the performance?

Now I'm hoping to see more videos about the "clans". I want to know if there is a way for them to co-evolve without a natural disaster.

Best trees video yet! I'm sure you want a break from trees for a long time, but I think they'd be really cool in 3d
Such interesting trees with the early fog experiments…
Awesome, thought-provoking work. Thank you for putting this out there for us all. 😊
Worthy mention, he now has a Patreon in the description and you can get access in the higher tiers
This has been a super cool series! very excited to see what you do next!
This series was so cool! I can't wait to see what you show us next!
Damn, found out about this series to late. Couldn't suggest adding leaf cells which are more efficient at absorbing sunlight in time.
I love how you present these experiments.
I’ve subscribed, so I can’t wait to see more!
I wish experiment with fog moving downwards was made as well
Also a lot of seeds died off when fog was on the ground :(
Loved this last episode. Already hyped for the upcoming ones!

can you please make it so that we can play and experiment with the simulation ass well? / Make it a game.

What do the genomes themselves look like? What kind of information do they encode, and how?
