Unfortunately, the Post Mil crowd, which by far does not represent the entire Calvinist crowd, does not acknowledge this concept enough, if at all. It's something to be constantly upset by. I agree with you, it's an honor and a sign you're of Christ to get spit on for being a Christian.

The apostles told the Jews they killed their Savior. They slaughtered the prophets Sent by God. God wrote them a bill of divorce. However, He said He would graft them in again if they would return. God did NOT write them off. They LOST their land, city and temple and religious system. THEY did all this by disobedience. This is TRUTH NOT ANTISEMITISM.

Dr Brown, I’m praying hard the Lord will graft them back into their Olive Tree again soon. We were wild and grafted in after they were broken off. However, Paul tells us not to boast against the broken branches. Sometimes Christians mock and boast against these broken branches. We should never do that. Remember they are not just enemies but BELOVED ENEMIES. THEY WILL BE GRAFTED BACK IN SOON. LUV YOUR SHOW

Immediately after being born again, I had a desire for Israel to be saved and in general, a budding love for Jews that I couldn't explain. It wasn't because someone taught me in a church or seminary. Rather, it was the Holy Spirit. It's actually hard for me to imagine a believer not having a love for the branch that was removed so we could be grafted in, from simply reading the scriptures.

Thank you, Dr. Michael Brown, for addressing Jeff Durbin's video on the topic of 'Jews as God's chosen people'. While I have great respect for Jeff's ministry, I was disheartened by his theological stance on this issue, especially as a Jew myself. After watching the Jeff Durbin video, Jeff could be both right and wrong i suppose. Jeff is focused on the fact that the Bible clearly teaches us that the true believers in Jesus Christ, no matter if one was Gentile or Jew, if they believe in Jesus Christ as the Messiah, and put their Faith in Jesus, then they are the true desecendents or as Paul wrote 'Abraham's seed'. Abraham believed in the future Messiah and clearly during the ministry of Jesus, many many Jews knowing the promise of God, believed in Jesus as the Messiah, but obviously most did not. So in that sense, the Jews of today, that do not believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are not the Spiritual descendent of Abraham.

I remember a time earlier in my walk with the Lord, as a teenager, that I too was like Jeff Derbin-- skeptical about the Jewish people, their faith and their identity; in fact, it got to a point where I was actually prejudicial towards them. But glory be to the Almighty God, as I grew in my walk and started studying God’s word, my perspective changed. Today I recognize that God’s promise to restore Israel both physically and spiritually still stands, thus the reason why I’m always in prayer for the Jewish community worldwide. I believe in the word that God spoke to Abraham, that in Abraham’s seed all the nations shall be blessed. Thank God for people like Dr. Brown whom the Lord is using to expound His word to us.

Outside of the state of Israel, the Jewish people are at the mercy of the gentiles they live among. Christian support for national Israel is not because we believe God's word demands a modern democratic nation as His way of working in the world. Rather we support Israel because we recognize it is necessary as a means to safeguard the people of God's covenant to Abraham. His election of Israel is not contingent on the Mosaic covenant, but rather the Abrahamic covenant.

      Hi Curious!
I appreciate your response especially considering the fascinating time in which we are living. I first would like to just clarify that Dr. Brown, myself and those that hold to our particular understanding of scripture are not saying that all those who comprise what is known as modern day Israel (from its establishment in 1948 till now) are ‘God’s people. That would be preposterous to assert because as we all know and agree one is saved inwardly, by grace, through faith in Messiah Jesus. The vast majority of Jews in this world, let alone Israel, are blind to the truth and reject the Messiah Jesus (same way they rejected Him 2000 years ago while He was here with us). We don’t deny that and we are keenly aware of it.
With that said, my position, along with Dr. Brown and countless other Christian’s on earth today is that the regathering of the Jews from the nations back into what was once their God ordained covenant land (of milk and honey) in 1948 had NOTHING to do with their repentance and belief in Jesus. DESPITE THEIR UNBELIEF, God re birthed the sovereign nation of Israel for one reason and one reason alone………….FOR HIS NAMES SAKE!!! It has NOTHING to do with anything other than God fulfilling His promise and GLORIFYING HIS NAME!!!
From 1948 until the Messiah comes again, Israel will never again cease to exist as a nation and its people (Jews) will continue to flock to it (be gathered). We glorify God for the simple fact that He fulfilled His promise and produced the miracle of modern day Israel (1948).
We bless Israel and we (Christian’s) seek to ‘provoke’ the Jews to jealousy/envy through our love today by our support for them and for the very place in which Jesus will reign during the millennium. Until that day comes (by the way things are shaping up it might not be too far off), Israel will face many trials, wars and persecution. Most Jews will continue to be blind. But there is coming a time of revival, and many Jews will look upon Him whom they pierced and that is when the scales of their eyes will fall and they too will be gathered along with us into the true ‘Israel’ as you put it😎👍
Israel is the catalyst for our Lords return………….!! The last I checked, the coming of our Lord couldn’t happen unless or until there was a regathering of Jews from the nations into a re established nation/homeland of Israel?🤔 it’s my contention that we are living in the terminal generation and the ‘birth pangs’ are becoming ever more increasingly strong.
With all due respect I can’t help but think there is a misunderstanding/misinterpretation on your part regarding our view on what constitutes as being Gods ‘chosen people’ and the role in which modern day Israel plays in the history/story of Gods redemptive plan? I hope I was able to clarify a little better for you what exactly our stance is? I’d be happy to continue this conversation if you feel at all led.
A Great battle is coming………and at its climax, our Lord will once again touch down upon the mount of olives, enter through the eastern gate and establish His kingdom from the very place that is at the center of the worlds attention right at this moment. Until that day comes, I , along with countless other Christian’s, will continue to love and bless Israel weather it be through word or action and will continue to look forward to that day in which we will ascend Mt. Zion and bow our knees in humble praise to ‘Israel’s’ Savior🙏😎🇮🇱

Did Durbin say that there are zero future plans for Israel? I would be surprised if he says that from a blanket statement point of view. I am just assuming, but I have to think Durbin when addressing the end times teachings on Israel, he is focused on the 'remnant' of Israel, as this group chosen by God will turn and believe in Jesus Christ, and it is this group that will return to the land of Israel in the end times. Again, I am just assuming here as I would be surprised if Durbin dismisses the old and new Testament verses depicting this.

So the comments he made here didn't come as a surprise. So they completely overlook Romans 11 and read verse 25 as ...that blindness in part has happened to Israel (in their teaching this is the Church) until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. That replacement make no sense in meaning and the argument of the chapter.

Romans Chapter 11: In its New Covenant context... There is no Plan B of salvation outside of the New Covenant Church in this passage. Plan A is found in verses 23 and 24.
In Romans 1:16 Paul said the Gospel was taken "first" to the Jews. This time period can be found in Matt. 10:5-7, and Acts 10:36-38, and Gal. 1:14-18. Many try to claim God never gave the Jews a chance to accept Christ, so there must be some Plan B of salvation before or during the Second Coming of Christ. Romans 1:16 proves they are wrong, since Paul said the Gospel went "first" to the Jews. Many ignore the fact that Peter addressed the crowd as "men of Judea", and as "men of Israel", and as "all the house of Israel" on the Day of Pentecost, when about 3,000 Israelites accepted the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary. The Gentiles were not grafted in until several years later. This passage proves Paul was right about the Gospel being taken "first" to the Jews.
Were all of the Israelites "partially" hardened in Romans 11, or were part hardened and another part were not hardened? The answer is found in the "remnant" of Romans 11:5.
Paul reveals two different groups of Israelites in Romans 9:6-8. There is an Israel of the promise, and an Israel of the flesh. This is part of the context of Romans 11.
Paul speaks about the "remnant" of Israel in Romans 9:27. This is also part of the context of Romans 11.
Paul starts Romans 11 with two different groups of Israelites. In verse one Paul reveals he is still an Israelite, even after his conversion. Then Paul refers to two different groups of Israelites during the time of Elijah. There were the Baal worshippers, and there was the faithful "remnant". In verse five Paul says there is also a faithful "remnant" of Israelites during his time. This must be the Israelites who have accepted Christ, as on the Day of Pentecost.
Paul uses the two olive trees as a symbol of the New Covenant Church made up of believing Israelites, and believing Gentiles grafted together into the same tree. The unbelieving Israelites have been broken off but can be grafted back in through faith in Christ in verses 23-24.
Verse 26 is the problem for many modern Christians. What does the verse actually say, and how is it changed by many in the modern Church.
I have heard two of our nations famous preachers say the following.
"And then all Israel will be saved..."
I have heard another say the following.
"And all Israel will be saved..."
What does God's Word, recorded by the Apostle Paul actually say?
Rom 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
The English word "so" is translated from the Greek word "houto", which is an adverb of manner, instead of an adverb of timing. Some have changed the word from "so" to "then", in order to change the meaning of the verse.
How will all of the "remnant" of Israel from Romans 9:27 be saved? The answer is found in the verses that precede verse 26 and are found below.
Rom 11:23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.
Rom 11:24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
Paul quoted from the OT in referring to the Deliverer coming out of Sion to pay for sin. Did this happen at Calvary, or will Jesus die again for His people in the future?
Rom 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
Verse 28 can only be understood by looking at how Paul started the passage. He started with two different groups of Israelites and he ends the passage in the same way. There are two different groups of "they" in verse 28. One group of "they" reject Christ and are the enemies of God, and another group of "they" are the election which accept Christ through hearing the Gospel and faith.
Rom 11:28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.
Based on Luke 21:24b-28, the times of the Gentiles comes to fullness at the Second Coming of Christ. This agrees with what Paul said in Romans 1:16 about the Gospel going “first” to the Jews.

Who is really teaching “Replacement Theology” ?
(Did God fulfill His promises to the Jewish people at Calvary? Matthew 26:28, John 19:30)
The advocates of modern Dispensational Theology often accuse others of promoting “Replacement Theology”, or some may even say “Antisemitism”. What does the Bible say about their accusations?
      1. Who is replacing Christ as the seed of Abraham through which all the families of the Earth would be blessed in Genesis 12:3, with Abraham’s modern descendants? (See Paul’s interpretation in Galatians 3:8, 3:16.)
      2. Who is replacing the one people of God in John 10:16, with two peoples of God ?
      3. Who is replacing the one seed (Christ) in Galatians 3:16, with the many seeds?
      4. Who is replacing the children of the promise in Romans 9:8, with the children of the flesh?
      5. Who is replacing the faithful “remnant” of Israelites in Romans 11:1-5, with the Baal worshipers?
      6. Who is replacing the word "so" in Romans 11:26, with the word "then"?
      7. Who is attempting to replace the Church made up of all races of people, with one made up only of Gentiles? Why did Peter address the crowd as “all the house of Israel” in Acts 2:36, when about 3,000 Israelites accepted Christ on the Day of Pentecost?
      8. Based on Hebrews 9:15, the New Covenant cannot be separated from the Messiah’s death. Is the covenant in Daniel 9:27 connected to the Messiah’s death in Daniel 9:26. Is the covenant with the “many” in Daniel 9:27 the same covenant with the “many” in Matthew 26:28? If it is, some have replaced the New Covenant in Daniel 9:27 with a future covenant made by an antichrist not found in Daniel chapter 9. (See the 1599 Geneva Bible used by the Pilgrims.)
      9. Those promoting the Two Peoples of God doctrine of Dispensational Theology often accuse others of teaching “Replacement Theology”, but are they the masters of it? Are they promoting a form of Dual Covenant Theology based on race? (See “genealogies” in Titus 3:9) Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis?
      10. Watch the UA-cam video “Genesis of Dispensational Theology” to see the origin of this man-made doctrine, which is less than 200 years old. It was brought to the United States about the time of the Civil War by John Nelson Darby. The doctrine was later incorporated into the notes of the Scofield Reference Bible, and then spread through much of the modern Church.
Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas Texas was created in part to promote John Darby’s Two Peoples of God doctrine of Dispensational Theology.
Lewis Sperry Chafer, the first president of Dallas Theological, had the following to say about the difference between Israel and the Church:

“The dispensationalist believes that throughout the ages God is pursuing two distinct purposes: one related to the earth with earthly people and earthly objectives involved which is Judaism; while the other is related to heaven with heavenly people and heavenly objectives involved, which is Christianity.”
Lewis Sperry Chafer, Dispensationalism (Dallas, Seminary Press, 1936), p. 107.
Chafer states that, ‘Israel is an eternal nation, heir to an eternal land, with an eternal kingdom, on which David rules from an eternal throne,’ that is, on earth and distinct from the church who will be in heaven.”
Lewis Sperry Chafer. Systematic Theology. 1975. Vol. IV. pp. 315-323.
John Walvoord, another prominent voice of Dallas Theological stated…
"...it is an article of normative dispensational belief that the boundaries of the land promised to Abraham and his descendants from the Nile to the Euphrates will be literally instituted and that Jesus Christ will return to a literal and theocratic Jewish kingdom centred on a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem. In such a scheme the Church on earth is relegated to the status of a parenthesis.”
      John F. Walvoord, The Rapture Question.1979, p. 25
      -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are there two peoples of God in John 10:16? (See also 1 John 2:22-23, 2 John 1:7-11.)
What is the land promise to the Old Testament Saints in Hebrews 11:15-16?
(See what Joshua said about the Old Covenant land promise in Josh. 21:43.)
Based on 2 Peter 3:10-13, is this earth “eternal”? Will it be replaced by a new earth?
Based on Acts 2:36, and Romans 9:6-8, and Romans 11:1-5, and Hebrews 12:22-24, and James 1:1-3, can faithful Israel and the Church be separated into two different groups?
Who is the New Covenant promised to in Jeremiah 31:31-34, and is it fulfilled by the blood of Christ at Calvary in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 12:18-24?
Will modern Orthodox Jews ever be saved outside of the New Covenant Church, if the New Covenant is “everlasting” in Hebrews 13:20? (See also 2 Thess. 1:7-10) If the New Covenant has made the Old Covenant “obsolete” in Hebrews 8:6-13, why would God go back to the Old Covenant system during a future time period?

New Covenant Whole Gospel: How many Christians cannot honestly answer the first three questions below?
Who is now the King of Israel in John 1:49? Is the King of Israel now the Head of the Church, and are we His Body? Why did God allow the Romans to destroy the Old Covenant temple and the Old Covenant city, about 40 years after His Son fulfilled the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 in blood at Calvary?
Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart.
Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36)
We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24.
God is not now a "racist". He has extended His love to all races of people through the New Covenant fulfilled by His Son's blood at Calvary.

Go to Gaza City and spend some time with Christian Brothers and Sisters in Christ, if you want to understand what it means to be threatened. Why were two unarmed Christian women shot by Israeli snipers while going to the toilet at their church in Gaza? Why were Christians killed while they were taking shelter at their 800-year-old church in Gaza City, when an IDF bomb hit beside their church? How many of their homes have been turned to rubble? How would you feel if armed drones were constantly flying overhead, while you are without food? Why was Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu-Akieh shot by the IDF before October 7th? These people were not killed by Hamas. Why have these people been ignored by most Christians in the U.S.? Are the Christians being killed in Gaza “Semites”? Could some of these people be descendants of "the twelve tribes", who were the "brethren" in the "faith" of James in James 1:1-3? Who was James talking to in this passage?

@@danielbelteshazzar-mg7rb How dare you judge someone? Have you heard one's groans in this life while talking with the Father or the struggle one has to keep up against this world and be faithful to him? Should God break his literal promise to the patriachs? BE HUMBLE! You have received the promise because God let his people for a time hardened their hearts. Listen to Paul as he answer your questions precisely in Romans 11:
I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah-how he appealed to God against Israel: “Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”? And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace. What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain. The elect among them did, but the others were hardened, as it is written: “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that could not see and ears that could not hear, to this very day.” And David says: “May their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them. May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever.” Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious. But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their full inclusion bring! I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them. For if their rejection brought reconciliation to the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches. If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble. For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either. Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree! I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, and in this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written: “The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob. And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins.” As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable. Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience, so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now receive mercy as a result of God’s mercy to you. For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all. Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?” For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.
      Romans 11:1‭-‬36
You are indeed blinded by your Replacement Theology, did on the 1st coming in the cross, nations attacked Jerusalem? NO! Zechariah can only be explained through Romans 11, the proper exegesis.
"On that day the Lord will shield those who live in Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the Lord going before them. On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem"

IN ACTS 13 PAUL A JEW IS TALKING to his fellow jews and some gentile believers. You are not a Child of Abraham, you are only grafted because of Jesus Christ.
“Fellow children of Abraham and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath. Though they found no proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed. When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the cross and laid him in a tomb. But God raised him from the dead, and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to our people. “We tell you the good news: What God promised our ancestors he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm: “ ‘You are my son; today I have become your father.’ God raised him from the dead so that he will never be subject to decay. As God has said, “ ‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.’ So it is also stated elsewhere: “ ‘You will not let your holy one see decay.’ “Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed. “Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses. “ ‘Look, you scoffers, wonder and perish, for I am going to do something in your days that you would never believe, even if someone told you.’” As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people invited them to speak further about these things on the next Sabbath. When the congregation was dismissed, many of the Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who talked with them and urged them to continue in the grace of God. On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy. They began to contradict what Paul was saying and heaped abuse on him. Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “ ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. But the Jewish leaders incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region. So they shook the dust off their feet as a warning to them and went to Iconium.

Thank you so much Dr. Michael Brown for doing this. I am a supporter of Apologia, but their position on the Jewish people as demonstrated by their podcast is completely unbiblical and indefensible. I think that many in the reformed camp have adopted an accidental, soft anti-semitism. It is also grievous that Martin Luther has more in common with Muhammad, who persecuted the Jewish people and slaughtered them because they would not accept him as prophet. And I don't care what other people say, but I do try to apologize for what has been done in the name of Jesus to the Jewish people throughout history which has no biblical precedent at all whenever I speak to a non-believing Jew. They need to know that Yeshua would condemn with the strongest words possible the actions of those that have perpetuated violence and hatred upon his people because of their unbelief. They must still live by this high standard of the Mosaic Law if they are to be saved and Bible and history will tell us how that turned out. Durbin is also right in that the believers of Jesus Christ, the followers of Christ are also Spiritually, Abraham's seed. They are indeed the true definition of Jews aka Saved People of God. As Dr Brown points out, even the Jews of today are not saved if they do not believe in JEsus Christ. If one was to be in a group, as a Christian, we obviously want to be spiritually Abraham's Seed and that type of Descendent than a physical, ethnic descendent of Abraham.

but did he? While Dr. Brown can still correctly say Jews of today are still the 'chosen people of God' per the Old Testament, Durbin is also correct in that the chosen people of God of the new covenant or those that are true believers in Jesus Christ and are Abraham's seed spiritually. The saved people that is in the Body of Christ. The Jews of today that do not believe in Jesus (as many are Christians), they themselves are outside the body of Christ, while still being ethnic Jews and living under the Mosaic Law still.

Jesus says in Mark 10:19 that we must keep the ten commandments in order to inherit eternal life. Mosaic law applies to everyone. Paul ageees in Romans 3:8,31. John agrees in 1 John 2:4.
The fact that faith must come before obedience to God does not mean faith replaces obedience.

    • @danielkim672
      @danielkim672 Місяць тому

@@PETERJOHN101 I do not want you to believe me, but I hope you will study the Scriptures deeper and deeper. I have much to learn as well. I am not saying Faith replaces obedience, but it is WHOSE Obedience? Ours? Of course not. Our works could not earn salvation, nor keep it. It is the obedience of Jesus Christ that as a human, Jesus kept the law to the fullest, the only human in history to do so.
Read Mark 10:19 and also the entire chapter. You are correct in the sense that if a person follows the law of MOses their entire lives, without transgression even once, they will inherit eternal life. But Romans 3:23 clearly says all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. Jesus teaches that here to the Rich Young Man. This man was a close follower of the Mosaic law and he felt pretty good about his own righteousness. He replies to Jesus in kind, saying he has followed ALL of the law. But did he? Of course not. The rich young man following the law as best he can, he falls short. Only Jesus fulfilled the entire law.
You cite 2 verses in Romans 3, yet skipped verse 23 which I shared above. Readh through chapter 1 and 2 as well of Romans. Paul is destroying the concept that the Jewish people of the time could follow the law 100%. The Jews did not want to see that Jesus is the Messiah as they were proud of their own works, their own righteousness in following the law. Yet they did not keep the whole law. These Jewish leaders judged others like the gentiles, yet these Jewish people wouldn't even be able to stand to their own judgement, so how could they stand before God and demand to God that they are justified in front of the law? Romans 3:21-31 is a teaching by Paul that we have righteousness in God's sight by Faith ONLY, not by works of the law. Look at Romans 9:30-33 as well.
I am so surprised that you feel 1 John 2 is stressing obedience. How do we even have obedience? It is because of Jesus. Jesus work saves us and allows us to have obedience to God. Verses 1 and 2 "My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world." - It is because Jesus Christ is our advocate to the Father, that we have righteousness before God and can obey God's words. Through Jesus, not our works.
Here is James on following the law and says it very clear and succinctly. James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.
That is it in a nutshell, those who believe they must keep the commandments in order to inherit eternal life. If you miss EVEN ONE, YOU ARE GUILTY OF ALL OF IT.
      Praise to Jesus Christ!!.

Thank you Dr Brown for discussing these issues surrounding Israel and God’s promises to the Jews. I hope these ridiculous statements from apologia were just hot takes for views and not sincerely held beliefs, but either way, I pray that they study God’s Word and seek His heart toward His people and come quickly to the truth. I always appreciate your compassion and gentleness in correction. Much love to you and your ministry.

Dr Brown, one of the most important things you pointed out was right at the beginning. You emphasized the brotherhood between Jeff, James, and yourself in spite of some theological differences. This is so vital in our lives when we run into fellow believers who we may disagree with. It is important to have mature, responsible, respectful discussion during those topics that aren't necessarily salvific issues.

I would be surprised as well if Jeff said God has no more future plans for Israel. From watching Jeff 's video, he clearly makes a point to say that Israel today, is not a saved people, they do not believe in Jesus Christ and per the Bible are disobedient. The most important aspect of being a Jew, a descendent of Abraham, is the Spiritual one, to be saved through Jesus Christ. If Jeff believes that in the future Israel will not be saved, then that is wrong. Israel of today might not be but in the future, they will.
