Excellent material. Todays churches can no longer put off or deny the special covenant relationship God has with the Jewish people through Yeshua. Presentations like Dr Brown's need to be in every church. Amen.

As you can see knowing or not the beautiful name doesn't translate, translation is a new thing, and also because is blasphemy according to the 10 commndments, and also it was made by hate against Jewish people, because for Christian in that time can't stand the Hebrew original names, Because fir your people Yeshua:Hebrew equal Jewish people and all Christian knowingly or not hate Jewish people, I recommend you to stop following a false Messiah and convert to Yeshua Hamashiak, nit the son of Zeus Jesus, and the worship if the sun god Jesus in 25 of December. *Isaiah 52,10*
The Lord will lay bare *his holy arm* in the sight of all the nations and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.
    *Isaiah 53,1-12*
1 Who has believed our message and *to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?*
2 *He* grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. *He* had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
    [...]
12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and *he was numbered with the transgressors;* and he bare the sin of many, and *made intercession* for the transgressors.
    *Isaiah 59,16*
And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that *there was no intercessor:* therefore *his arm* brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.
    *Luke 22,37*
It is written: *‘And he was numbered with the transgressors;* and I (Jesus) tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.”
    *Isaiah 33,2*
*O Lord,* be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: *be thou their arm* every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.
    *Mark 4,39*
And he (Jesus) arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm
    *Psalm 89,8-11*
*8 O Lord God of hosts,* who is a strong Lord like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee?
*9 Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.*
10 Thou hast *broken Rahab in pieces,* as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with *thy strong arm.*
11 The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them.
    *Isaiah 51,9*
*Awake, awake,* put on strength, *O arm of the Lord;* awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath *cut Rahab,* and wounded the dragon?
    *Isaiah 40,10*
Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and *his arm shall rule for him:* behold, *his reward is with him, and his work before him.*
    *Matthew 16,27*
For *the Son of man* shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then *he shall reward every man according to his works.*
    *Rev. 22,12-13*
12 And, behold, I (Jesus) come quickly; and *my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.*
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, *the first and the last.*
    *Isaiah 48,12-16*
12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; *I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.*
    [...]
16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: *and now the Lord God, and his Spirit, hath sent me.*
    *Isaiah 51,4-5*
4 Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.
5 My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and *mine arms shall judge the people;* the isles shall wait upon me, and on *mine arm* shall they trust.
    *John 5,22*
For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son
    *Isaiah 33,10*
Now *will I rise,* saith the Lord; now *will I be exalted;* now *will I lift up myself.*
    *Isaiah 52,13*
Behold, *my servant* shall deal prudently, he *shall be exalted* and *extolled,* and *be very high.*
    *Mark 16,6/19*
6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: *he is risen;* he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

63 And the high priest tore his garments and said, “What further witnesses do we need?
64 You have heard his blasphemy. What is your decision?” And they all condemned him as deserving death.
    *Daniel 7,13-14*
13 "I saw in the night visions, and behold, *with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man,* and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him.
14 And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.

    Isaiah 53
I understand that a large number of rabbis (perhaps most), state
that the verses in Isaiah 53, refer to Israel/Israelite's. When the *Hebrew
Scriptures refer to the Israelite's, it characterizes them as a "she"
and "her" (e.g., Jeremiah 3:8). In Isaiah 53, it refers to a
"he" and a "him", and not to a "she" or a
"her"; which would to my reading be more appropriate. Also, in the
Hebrew Scriptures, from most of the Books from Exodus to Ezekiel, it frequently
states that the Israelite's were an obstinate, stiff-necked, and disobedient
people; this doesn't sound like the scripture (Isaiah 53) pertains to the
Israelite's as a whole, but to a “someone”.

Isa 53 servant of the Lord is Israel. Same contextual subject as chapter 52 and 54. In chapter 52, for example, Israel is described as “oppressed without cause” (v.4) and “taken away” (v.5), yet God promises a brighter future ahead, one in which Israel will again prosper and be redeemed in the sight of all the nations (v.1-3, 8-12).Chapter 54 further elaborates upon the redemption which awaits the nation of Israel. Following immediately after chapter 53’s God’s servant

@Screaming Mimi's Objection #2: Israel is not innocent and the servant is righteous / innocent.
This is the #1 problem that Christians have with the Jewish interpretation of Isaiah 53. They claim that the servant in Isaiah 53 is innocent and so cannot be Israel because we all agree that Israel was in exile due to her sins. This objection has two parts to it, so let me address each one.
Israel is not innocent: Here they bring many verses like Isaiah 1 among many others. We have, of course, agreed that Israel was not sinless. However I pointed out in part two on the verse 53:10, the use of the Asham indicates that the servant was suffering in atonement for his OWN SINS, and not for others. Obviously the servant was a sinner. Likewise when discussing the Asham, I pointed out that this does not show that the person was sinless or perfect, as that was not a requirement of the animal itself.
The Servant had to be righteous: This is backed up by the words of Isaiah 53:4-6 indicating that the suffering was for the sins of others. But this does not change the facts that 4-6 are the words of the nations, and the view the Christians take on these verses is one that is false. As I showed in article three it is the nations, taking this view, who do not understand God’s purpose in allowing the servant to suffer, as I explained in article two.
Sometimes verse 53:9 is mentioned but that refers to the servant being innocent of the suffering caused by the nations. Israel was to be in exile, but the persecution of the nations was not part of it, as I pointed out in the beginning of the third article.
Objection #3: Israel is not righteous because they have sinned.
The main problem is that many people are called righteous even if they have sinned; there is no contradiction in that. In fact Ecclesiastes 7:20 says that there is no one who is righteous who does not sin. Even John the Baptist’s parents are called righteous in the New Testament and no one claims they were sinless.
With regards to the verse here we need to recall that God refers to Israel as being righteous in comparison to the nations as we see from the words of the prophet Balaam in Numbers 23:21: “He has not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither has he seen perverseness in Israel….” Does God lie?

@@romeostojka7232 Isa 53 is not about NT Jesus. I have I already addressed your question above.
'God Himself reviewing the previous 2 verses and confirming what he has said:
53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion from the many, and the mighty he shall divide as spoils(שלל); because he poured out his soul unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of the many, and for the transgressors he prayed.
This verse has six parts to it, and it is useful to look at each one of them:
      1. Therefore will I divide him a portion from the many,
      2. and the mighty he shall divide as spoils(שלל);
      3. because he poured out his soul unto death,
      4. and was numbered with the transgressors;
      5. yet he bore the sin of the many,
      6. and for the transgressors he prayed.
The first two points in this verse are usually ignored, but give significant supporting evidence to the contention that the servant is Israel.
That Israel will have an increase in physical possessions appears in many verses, especially in Isaiah 40 - 66. However there is some specific language here that indicates that these possessions will come as spoils or plunder, not as a natural increase of wealth.
However, we do find some passages where these possessions will be acquired as wealth taken/returned from the nations:
Isa 33:21. But there, the Lord is mighty for us; a place of broad rivers and streams, where a galley with oars shall not go, and a great ship shall not pass.
      22. For HaShem is our judge; HaShem is our ruler; HaShem is our king; He shall save us.
      23. Your ropes are loosed, not to strengthen their mast properly; they did not spread out a sail; then spoils (שלל) were divided from the many; the lame takes the booty.
      24. And the neighbor shall not say, "I am sick." The people dwelling there are forgiven of sin.
Here we see the same idea; when the redemption from exile comes, Israel’s sins are forgiven and she will have the spoils from the nations. Likewise we find in Zechariah 14 after the horrible wars that come before the final end of the exile:
14:1. Behold! A day of the Lord is coming, and your spoils (שללך) shall you share amongst yourselves.
14:14. Judah will fight against Jerusalem! And the wealth of all the nations round about-gold and silver and apparel-will be gathered in very great abundance.15. And so will be the plague of the horses, the mules, the camels, the donkeys, and all the animals that are in those camps, similar to this plague.16. And it will come to pass that everyone left of the nations who came up against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to prostrate himself to the King, the Lord of Hosts, and to celebrate the festival of Tabernacles.17. And it shall be that whoever of all the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to prostrate himself to the King, the Lord of Hosts-upon them there shall be no rain.
And again we see described the same period in Ezekiel 39 after the war of Gog and MaGog:
39:9. Then the inhabitants of the cities of Israel will go forth and make fires and heat up with the weapons, the bucklers, and the encompassing shields, the bows and the arrows and the hand staves and the spears, and burn them as fires for seven years.
      10. So that they shall carry no wood from the fields nor cut down any from the forests, for they shall make fires from the weapons. Thus will they spoil those who spoiled them, plunder those who plundered them and says the Lord God.
      11. And it shall come to pass on that day that I will give Gog a place there as a grave in Israel, the valley of them who pass along the east side of the sea, and it will then stop those who pass along. And there shall they bury Gog and all his hordes, and they shall call it the Valley of Hamon Gog [the masses of Gog].
From these three passages, and others I could bring we see what was meant by:
Therefore will I divide him a portion from the many, and the mighty he shall divide as spoils
The ideas of 3 and 5 have already appeared in the previous verses so they should not be new. Israel is suffering in the exile and is persecuted by the nations who sinned by doing that:
because he poured out his soul unto death … yet he bore the sin of the many,
“and was numbered with the transgressors” appears as part of the ‘confession’ of the nations in verse 4, where a similar idea appears. I will discuss that verse more in the third part, when I discuss what the nations have to say about Israel’s suffering and compare it to what God has said about it.
The final point is also an unusual one that many do not seem to understand. But it is explicit in God’s instructions for the Jewish people in exile as it appears in the prophet Jeremiah 27:
27:5. Build houses and dwell [therein], and plant gardens and eat their produce.
      6. Take wives and beget sons and daughters, and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to men, and they shall bear sons and daughters, and multiply there and be not diminished.
      7. And seek the peace of the city where I have exiled you and pray for it to the Lord, for in its peace you shall have peace.
This is what it says at the end of this verse; “and for the transgressors he prayed”, for the wicked nations who have sinned by oppressing Israel, Israel is required to pray for them.
Here we have seen that every point of this verse is reflected in other passages and promises from God to Israel and only to Israel.'

@@romeostojka7232Isa 53:8 my people, is referring to the nations, since that is who is speaking. A comparison of 52:15 and 53:1-3 shows that they express the same idea from two different perspectives. 53:1 is in the first person, so the speaker there is the same one referenced in 52:15. The subject in 52:15 is the kings of nations. This means that the speaker from 53:1 is the nations. Can't conflate the speaker of Isaiah 53:1-9, the leaders of nations, with God. What the nations say right after realizing they erred, is only their opinion.

Throughout Isaiah it is Israel who will be exalted and vindicated on that day and her enemies that will be shamed (Isaiah 26:2; 29:23; 30:26; 34:8; 41:11; 54:17; 60:2,14,15; 62:2;).
In the Levitical service, Asham is only offered by the perpetrator of the violation for their personal transgression. Asham is never a communal offering in the Levitical service. The servant in Isaiah 53:8 acknowledges their own guilt. But NT claims Jesus never sinned, so the passage is not about such a person that supposedly never sinned. A person who never sinned is a contradiction of scripture. Eccl 7:20 there is no righteous man on earth who does good and sins not. 1Kings 8:46 there is no one who does not sin
Offerings are brought up, according to the torah, can’t give an offering for someone else, and a human is not a valid offering for a guilty offering, so Jesus offering himself for others is ruled out, whilst the servant recognizing his own guilt is in line with the torah.
The only other time God has pleasure in affliction is in Deut Lev 26, is about Israel.
The word ‘deaths’ is plural in verse 9
There is no reason to say this is not about Israel, since in each generation the whole people die in exile. There is no verse which tells of a resurrection. They need to manufacture this, because unless we are talking about an eternal people, who can be killed and suffer and still endure, the verses make no sense. This point is made clear in Psalms 44:23: “For your sake we are killed every day”. Nobody but an eternal people can be killed daily and still exist. Only if we are talking about a people as a whole can we say they suffer and die, and yet endure.
‘the Land of the living’ in verse 8 means death. There is no problem with assuming death in that verse, but the correct translation of the Hebrew ארץ חיים is ‘the living land’. The same word as here appears in Ezekiel 26:30 where it refers to “and I shall set glory in the living land” (i.e. the land of Israel) It is a clear allusion to the exile by the nations, who are the speaker in that verse.
NT Jesus does not meet the criteria set for the servant of Isa 53 in the phrase "had done no violence." NT Jesus's violence violated others' property and livelihood. Moneychangers, pigs, fig tree. Falsehoods are found, out of Jesus' mouth. NT contradicts torah and claims Jesus never sinned.
NT Jesus does not meet the criteria set in Isa 53:10. Jesus did not admit to have ever sinned. Jesus did not see his offspring, nor have prolonged days, nor was Jesus successful

Then you said deaths are plural that doesn’t prove any thing cause Ezekiel 28:10 uses plural for singular subject then Jesus offered himself to others therefore is not valid. Man do you even understand what Christian believe we don’t believe he offered himself for others. He offered himself to god for us . Everyone sinned that backfires actually you because if everyone sinner therefore everyone need asham in Israel which then how then Israelite can be asham then for Israel since everyone needs it? Isaiah 53 does not say the Servant is God (YHVH). On the contrary, the Servant is clearly differentiated from God (YHVH). "Behold, My servant shall prosper" "by his knowledge shall My servant make many righteous". "It was the will of YHVH to crush him" "the will of YHVH shall prosper in his hand" "Therefore I will divide for him a portion among the great/many".

My post is for my fellow Jews to see it. Do not let Christianity mislead you. Here is the truth about Isaiah 53, This whole chapter referred to the "descendants of Jacob"" as the "Suffering Servant" or "He/Him" as Jacob READ the Context please! Here is why. Well, our patriarch Jacob was named "israel"after he became blessed by Hashem when he fought the angel of Hashem. So, Isaiah 53 refers to Jacob (He/HIM) as ISRAEL. Isaiah 41:8,9 ; Isaiah 44:1,21 Isaiah 45:4 Isaiah 49:3 -6 Now compare it with Isaiah 52:5, 6, 9,10 ,13 ; Tell me who has been oppressed, despised, tortured, murdered, as exiles to the nations over 3,000 years? Israel right? According to the Biblical context and throughout history has been the Jewish people as a whole. Christianity ( represented by all the nations in a religious context) has been the main enemy of Israel by massively murdering , despising, afflicting the Jewish people because they refused to convert into Christianity. So when the wrath of God comes to the nations in the end times , Isaiah warned the nations as the audience...what excuse would they have by oppressing God's people??? Isaiah is making a big statement not only for the nations but also to the remnant of Israel who were dispersed among the nations giving comfort to his people that Israel will be exalted among the nations for all the oppression and suffering Israel went through as exiles among the nations. . Hashem will redeem us Jews from the nations as mentioned multiples times in the book of Isaiah as the main context of chapter 53. God will send his people to be the light to the nations as well as His dedicated anointed Servant. Isaiah 49:5,6 , Isaiah 42:19 who is blind not to see that? Israel are the anointed witnesses and Servant of the Most High Almighty upon this earth. Isaiah 43:1, 3 -7, and 10 verse 4 God said that he will give people in exchange for Israel as a ransom. ? exactly. Hashem will turn the table in the end times against the nations. Isaiah 53 has absolutely nothing to do with a human blood sacrifice by a Jewish man AKA “Jesus” as the atonement needless to say to replace the covenant of Israel for a new one. As matter of fact, Isaiah 53 never mentioned nothing about a human blood sacrifice to atone for sins in order to receive forgiveness. What verse says that? Word for word.
who has read the prophecy about the tribe of Judah/ house of David in the end times? We will be the strong arm to fight the religious strongholds and nations for who will come against Israel. Hashem Most High will be glorified through Israel for his vindication , all the nations will see it. Zechariah 12: 6-9 The world is not ready for that.

In the Isaiah passages you cited, the servant is Israel, the Jewish people. This did not stop rabbinic interpreters from identifying the servant in Isaiah 53 as the Messiah (Targum Jonathan; b. Sanhedrin 98b; Ruth Rabbah 2:14). It is a legitimate Jewish interpretation to understand the servant in Isaiah 53 as the Messiah who is the representative of Israel.
Concerning blood sacrifice, read Isaiah 53:10 where the text indicates that the servant will serve as a an אָשָׁם (guilt offering) and compare that to Leviticus 5:16. The concept that a righteous person’s death can function as an atonement is found in Jewish literature outside the New Testament. For example, in 4 Maccabees 6:27-28, the Jewish leader, Eleazar makes the following statement before his execution by Antiochus IV,
“You know, O God, that though I could have saved myself I am dying in these fiery torments for the sake of the law. Be merciful to your people and let our punishment be a satisfaction on their behalf. Make my blood their purification and take my life as a ransom for theirs.”
His words hearken back to Lev 17:11 - where one life atones for the life of another. There is no Temple to perform sacrifices, including the sacrifices on Yom Kippur which makes atonement for sin. So Eleazar offers his life as a substitute to these sacrifices and asks that his death would bring atonement to Israel.
Neither Isaiah 53, nor the New Testament teaches that God replaced his covenant with Israel.

@@ChosenPeopleUSA the temple will be restored and it’s clear by how descriptive Ezekiel is in Ezekiel 40-48.
How could Jesus atone for all sins when the sacrificial system will be restored during the messianic age.
In Ezekiel 45 the prince brings a sin offering for himself. Where is that in the New Testament? Why would Jesus bring a sin offering if he dies for everyone’s sins?
“Also one sheep is to be taken from every flock of two hundred from the well-watered pastures of Israel. These will be used for the grain offerings, burnt offerings and fellowship offerings to make atonement for the people, declares the Sovereign Lord. On that day the prince is to provide a bull as a sin offering for himself and for all the people of the land.”

Isaiah 53 Who would believed our (Yah-Sar-El’s) report? and to whom is the Arm of YAH revealed?
2 For he (Seed of David) shall grow up before YAH as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground (no knowledge of YAH): he (seed of David) hath no form nor comeliness; and when we (Yah-Sar-El) shall see him (seed of David), there is no beauty that we should desire him (seed of David).
3 He (seed of David) is despised and rejected of men; a man (seed of David) of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we (Yah-Sar-El) hid as it were our faces from him (seed of David); he (seed of David) was despised, and we (Yah-Sar-El) esteemed him (seed of David) not (as YAH’s Servant).
4 Surely he (seed of David) hath borne our (Yah-Sar-Elites) griefs, and carried our (Yah-Sar-Elites) sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he (seed of David) was wounded (shot/GSW) for our (Yah-Sar-El) transgressions, he (seed of David) was bruised for our (Yah-Sar-El) iniquities: the chastisement of our (Yah-Sar-El’s) peace was upon him (seed of David); and with his (seed of David) stripes & welts we (Yah-Sar-Elites) are healed.
6 All we (Yah-Sar-Elites) are like sheep have gone astray from the Law of YAH; we (Yah-Sar-El) have turned every one to his own way (taking refuge in idols); and YAH hath laid on him (seed of David) the iniquity of us all (Yah-Sar-Elites).
7 He (seed of David) was oppressed, and he (seed of David) was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth (when he was incarcerated):in his thinking he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he (seed of David) openeth not his (seed of David) mouth.
8 He (Seed of David)was taken (bailed out) from prison and released from judgment (praise YAH): and who shall declare his (seed of David) generation? for he (seed of David) was bared from entering the land (Israel) of the living: for the transgression of My people (Yah-Sar-Elites) was he withheld.
9 And YAH will make his (seed of David’s) grave like the wicked ( no headstone or whereabouts of the grave), and with many riches in his grave; because he (seed of David) had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his seed of David) mouth.
10 Yet it pleased YAH to bruise him (seed of David); YAH hath put him (seed of David) to grief: to make his soul acknowledge the sin of many generations, he (seed of David) shall see his children’s children children, YAH shall prolong his days of life on earth, and the pleasure of YAH shall prosper in his (seed of David) hand.
11 He (seed of David) shall see of the travail & troubles of his life/soul, and shall understand it all: by his (seed of David) wisdom, knowledge, & understanding shall My righteous servant bring judgement & justice to many; for he shall bear their (Yah-Sar-Elites) iniquities.
12 Therefore YAH will divide him (seed of David) a portion with the great, and he (seed of David) shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul nearly unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors (Yah-Sar-Elites); and he bare the sin of many (Yah-Sar-Elites), and made intercession/prayers for the transgressors (Yah-Sar-Elites).

Please start with Isaiah 41. You will conclude that the suffering servant is Jacob-Israel as a nation. The Catholic, protestant, and charismatic church doctrines will teach you that this is a clear reference to Jesus. If you read the references I have listed, you may conclude differently.
"But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham, my friend; you whom I took from the ends of the earth, and called from its farthest corners, saying to you, “You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off.” ~ Isaiah 41:8-9
But now hear, O Jacob my servant, Israel whom I have chosen! ~ Isaiah 44:1
Remember these things, O Jacob, and Israel, for you are my servant; I formed you; you are my servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by me. ~ Isaiah 44:21
For the sake of my servant Jacob, and Israel my chosen, I called you by your name, I name you, though you do not know me. ~ Isaiah 45:4
"Go out from Babylon, flee from Chaldea, declare this with a shout of joy, proclaim it, send it out to the end of the earth; say, “The Lord has redeemed his servant Jacob!” ~ Isaiah 48:20
"And he said to me, “You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified.” ~ Isaiah 49:3

Article: *“Jewishness and the Trinity”* by Arnold Fruchtenbaum |April 23 2018
      Source: jewsforjesus.org/publications/issues/issues-v01-n08/jewishness-and-the-trinity/
      *(1) The Shema*
Deuteronomy 6:4: Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!
Deuteronomy 6:4, known as the *Shema,* has always been Israel's great confession. It is this verse more than any other that is used to affirm the fact that God is one and is often used to contradict the concept of plurality in the Godhead. But is it a valid use of this verse?
*The very words "our God" are in the plural in the Hebrew text and literally mean "our Gods.”*
On one hand, it should be noted that the very words "our God" are in the plural in the Hebrew text and literally mean "our Gods." However, the main argument lies in the word "one," which is a Hebrew word, echad. A glance through the Hebrew text where the word is used elsewhere can quickly show that the word echad does not mean an absolute "one" but a compound "one." For instance, in Genesis 1:5, the combination of evening and morning comprise one (echad) day. In Genesis 2:24, a man and a woman come together in marriage and the two "shall become one (echad) flesh." In Ezra 2:64, we are told that the whole assembly was as one (echad), though of course, it was composed of numerous people. Ezekiel 37:17 provides a rather striking example where two sticks are combined to become one (echad). The use of the word echad in Scripture shows it to be a compound and not an absolute unity.
There is a Hebrew word that does mean an absolute unity and that is *yachid,* which is found in many Scripture passages,2 the emphasis being on the meaning of "only." If Moses intended to teach God's absolute oneness as over against a compound unity, this would have been a far more appropriate word. In fact, Maimonides noted the strength of "yachid" and chose to use that word in his "Thirteen Articles of Faith" in place of echad. *However, Deuteronomy 6:4 (the Shema) does not use "yachid" in reference to God.*
*(2) The Three Personalities in the Same Passage*
Nor have the Hebrew Scriptures neglected to put all three personalities of the Godhead together in one passage. Two examples are *Isaiah **48:12**-16* and *Isaiah 63:7-14*
Because of the significance of the first passage *(Isaiah **48:12**-16),* it will be quoted:
"Listen to Me, O Jacob, and Israel, My called: I am He, I am the First, I am also the Last. Indeed My hand also has laid the foundation of the earth, and My right hand has stretched out the heavens; when I call to them, they stand up together. All of you, assemble yourselves, and hear! Who among them has declared these things? The LORD has loved him; he shall do His pleasure on Babylon, and His arm shall be against the Chaldeans. I, even I, have spoken; yes, I have called him, I have brought him, and his way will prosper. Come near to Me, hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, I was there. And now the Lord GOD and His Spirit have sent me."
It should be noted that the speaker refers to himself as the one who is responsible for the creation of the heavens and the earth. It is clear that he cannot be speaking of anyone other than God. But then in verse 16, the speaker refers to himself using the pronouns of I and me and then distinguishes himself from two other personalities. He distinguishes himself from the Lord YHVH and then from the Spirit of God. Here is the Tri-unity as clearly defined as the Hebrew Scriptures make it.
*In the second passage (Isaiah 63:7-14),* there is a reflection back to the time of the Exodus where all three personalities were present and active. The Lord YHVH is referred to in verse 7, the Angel of YHVH in verse 9 and the Spirit of God in verses 10, 11 and 14. While often throughout the Hebrew Scriptures God refers to Himself as being the one solely responsible for Israel's redemption from Egypt, in this passage three personalities are given credit for it. Yet, no contradiction is seen since all three comprise the unity of the one Godhead.

If Dr. Brown is right about Isaiah 53 being about Jesus and that Jesus was the Messiah, then God was and is a liar. As He did with Abraham, God told David and his son, Solomon that the Messiah would come thru their "seed" (zera). However, Paul says "Let God be true and every man a liar." If God did not lie to Abraham, then He didn't lie to David. So let these writers and the good doctor be liars. Dr. Brown is wrong. Similarly, those , who say Isaiah 7:14 is about Jesus are equally wrong. In fact, Deut. 13:1-5, and 18:20-22, Numbers 23:19, Jere. 16:19 and Zech: 8:21-23, together, destroy Jesus and his claims, Christianity and the New Testament. It was not prophesied anywhere that the Messiah would come from heaven and start, in defiance of and in the face of God, a new religion (Christianity) and then, in effect, pull a coup against God with his: Mat. 28:18, "All powers in Heaven and Earth are now in my hands." What did God do, retire with his 401K and IRA? If the truth matters, then let it be told.

How can you get DNA evidence of Jesus when Allah put the likeness of him on someone else (Sura 4:157)? Since Allah has tampered with the evidence, according to Islam (this must be your belief since only Muslims would ask such stupid questions you ask), this would not be possible. If we're to believe that if that Isaiah 53 is talking about the messiah. Are we then supposed to believe that Jesus had children as verse 10 says "Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes[c] his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days,? I think the more logical approach is the prophet was speaking about Israel as a nation not an individual.

    • @Road2Redeemer
      @Road2Redeemer 6 років тому +4

Hi Tony, Dr. Brown has responded to that objection in Objection 4.17 in his third volume of "Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus." Let me summarize. First, the Hebrew says that the Messiah will "see seed" (יִרְאֶ֥ה זֶ֖רַע). This is the only occurrence of the phrase in the Scriptures. It does not say "see HIS seed" (that is an interpretive gloss), so it need not refer to the servant's own offspring. Secondly, the word for seed, zera, is often used literally of semen, and often used literally/figuratively about one's descendants, but these are not the only uses of the word. Isaiah himself uses zera in a figurative way in Isaiah 1:4, 14:20, and 57:3-4. In these passages it can refer to "community" - thus, the servant will see a righteous community after his death. Psalm 22:30-31 also uses zera figuratively, referring to a future generation. Thus this usage would mean that the servant will see a future generation after his death.
So while it is plausible that this is talking about physical descendants, it is not a necessary interpretation, and when combined with the evidence elsewhere for an individual/Messianic interpretation, we believe the figurative understanding fits best.

Thank you for your reply. I am neither Christian or Jewish, I'm a descendant of the American Indian. When I enter the spirit world to talk to the Creator of the universe. I thank him for all that he is created and all that he is given us. I have studied most of the religions of man, and enjoy listening to discussions of the Creator and what other people believe.
Christians claim to follow a Jewish messiah, but their actions to not seem to follow the instructions of their leader. And in all fairness as the same could be said for the Jewish community who claims to have heard from the Creator and yet do not follow his instructions.
I am not impressed by what people say they believe, as their beliefs very seldom follow their actions. When I believe that the Creator of the universe and this world will judge all men by their knowledge and actions. It is the duty of the Elders to teach the young ones a respect for nature and people. Most importantly, to worship the Creator in spirit and truth. That find nothing the matter with the teachings of Christianity and Judaism. Without trying to be too judgmental most of the Christians and Jews do not live by the instructions handed down by either God.
If somebody is going to try to convert me to their religious beliefs, then practice of their religious beliefs is what I expect. To believe it is written in the Christian bible in the new testament but if you'd love God you will keep his commandments. And I believe it also says that the Jewish bible. If neither of you Christians or Jews followed the instructions of your Creator (your God), I find it almost laughable that you expect others to believe you have heard from the creator, and we should following your beliefs and religion.

I think a better question is....Who else's life is capable of being an "Offering for Sin" as it says...I only know of One who is capable. Israel the Nation is full of Sins, they cant carry another persons sins that's absolutely ridiculous !! Sin offerings are pure and sinless....That's the Rashi theory he invented in the 11th Century to reject Jesus.....Jesus was despised and Rejected Rejected Rejected as the verse says by his own people.

Can there be a greater stumbling block than Christianity? All the prophets spoke of Mashiach as the redeemer of Israel and their savior who would gather their dispersed and strengthen their observance of the mitzvot.
