Black widow is nowhere close to deadliest spider in the world. Brazilian wandering spider, all species of funnel web, and six eyed sand spider are all more deadly. Besides, black widow are extremely docile who only bite when pressed against skin.
I got bit by a western black widow a couple of weeks ago…. @@splendedmelody5076 I wasn’t wearing any clothing. I was chillin as nature intended, & when I went to adjust my booty a bit to get a little comfier, that’s when I got bit.
I love how gentle and sweet you were with her. I mean she’s a person too and deserves respect just like anyone else. I like that black widow spiders are docile and don’t bite unless their life is threatened. When I was a kid I thought that a bite from a black widow would kill you right away. But now that I’m grown up I know that death by a black widow bite is rare.
LOL. It did not look very gentle when he was coaxing the poor spooder to bite. I was worried it would get injured. Glad it was okay. We have both black widows and brown widows, "allegedly", here in Ohio. I have lived here my entire life and I don't believe I have ever seen a black widow. I see spiders similar to brown widows, but I honestly believe those are false widows instead. What we do have in spades though, are yellow sac spiders. EVERYWHERE. Especially in the fall. They like to come inside and each fall I have to do an entire sweep of my house and look in the corners and along the walls of every room. They make very small sacs that they hide in and it blends with the walls. Those have a nasty bite similar to the brown recluse and I have a terrible reaction to their venom. Unlike widow spiders or recluse spiders, yellow sacs are not afraid of humans and are very defensive and fast.
Major props man. I’m a 4th year biology student getting ready to graduate and I’ve always been skeptical learning about the different species of snakes and spiders. Like it got to a point of having vivid dreams of snakes and spiders swarming every orifice. I would wake up and cower in the corner until my mother would come to wake me up for school. I felt like such an idiot for so long. I decided last year that I would look past my fears and try to learn more and maybe gain insight or closure as to why I was so scared of them all these years. I decided to start with snakes, as I was more scared of spiders. I’m proud to say that I am no longer scared of snakes and am even contemplating a career in herpetology. I specifically enjoyed learning about the effect Burmese Pythons have had on the Florida Everglades, and I would love to get involved with re-homing them instead of killing them. As you can probably tell already, I’ve began my research into class Arachnida. I was just wondering if you had any tips or anything to help me befriend these creatures and who knows, maybe find passion in studying them. I know both of these types of animals get bad reps and that’s part of the reason that I’ve decided to do this, but man I just cannot seem to get passed how creepy they are😂
Best way to overcome fear is to become familiar with them. Research, study, and search for them in their natural habitat. The fear may never go away, but the respect and fascination can easily take its place.
First let me say I really enjoyed your video. I know many people have misgivings about these particular spiders, however since the aftermath of the bite is painful for a health grown person I believe that’s where the stigmatism comes from; I would go out on limb and say there has to be some people who could be potentially allergic to their venom, even though the amount of venom they inject is relatively small the usual side effects for a healthy person are exactly what you experienced. Someone highly sensitive that couldn’t combat these immediately may experience a life threatening reaction in short period of time. The risks/possible consequences or just pain outweigh the nonchalant behavior towards them. As you said no one should be picking them up, but you don’t have to freak out either if you see one outside your house.
Absolutely! Allergy to venom is definitely a large player in many horror stories we hear from our friends and family. I honestly still stand by stating they're just not dangerous. Even at 4 times the dose a normal bite I wasn't in immediate danger and bites are incredibly uncommon. They're certainly not out to get you and that's really the only message I try to convey in my videos.
Seems to illustrate that this venom, while extremely powerful, is much more adapted for quickly subduing insect prey than for defense. The pinprick is probably not going to make the rat go away and even if the neurotoxin sets in in 15 minutes on a rodent size target the spider has probably already been eaten. Wasps have the other end of the spectrum, instantly very painful but not particularly toxic at least on a single envenomation basis.
I have a brown widow infestation out my window and was looking for videos of people getting bit, no clue how you aren’t popular at all, thanks for the vid
I beg to differ. My mom got bit but a black widow and her skin started to decay and her heart gave out. They had to put her in emergency surgery and took out a large chunk of her skin where it began to decay. I wouldn’t ever tell my mom a black widow bite can’t kill her or aren’t dangerous.
Black widow venom is not necrotic and doesn’t cause tissue damage like you are claiming. Likely the true medical condition was misidentified as a black widow bite.
I got bit by a black widow six weeks after I had a baby. At first I didn't realize I had been bitten (I sat on it so it bit me in the butt) but then the bite began to burn. After maybe half an hour the pain was radiating like fire around my mid section. Then it just spread and by the time we got to the hospital I was writhing in pain. I had just had a baby naturally and this pain was worse. It felt like my spine was going to snap. They didn't do much for me at the hospital besides giving me morphine (which didn't last very long) and prescribing Valium (which I don't think did much). The next four days I was in awful pain. Some of the worst pain that lasted those several days after the initial muscle spasms subsided was actually in my breasts and I wonder if this had anything to do with the fact I was lactating. It was awful and I was utterly miserable. Of course there is zero information anywhere on black widow bites in lactating women so I pumped and dumped and didn't breastfeed my baby while the pain lasted because I had no idea if any of the venom could get to my baby. I tried to research black widow bites but there really isn't a ton of information out there and definitely not many people who have been bit to talk to! I had no long-term effects but it sure was an awful few days!
Very underrated channel! I have seen about 10 black widows outside of my house this past week and I was curious if I was going to die haha. I’m a little bit relieved but they’re still very very intimidating to me
I was watching another youtuber some months back who wanted to let a giant desert centipede bite him. So he caught one and kept it in a glass box in the sunlight for a day before he let it bite him. When they got to the bite; he got an extra dose. Likely because the animal was so stressed/annoyed from this person screwing with it and keeping it out in the open before the actual bite. I wonder if perhaps that's why the Black Widow gave you such a high yield on this one, a little too much stress/aggravation on the animal. Glad you pulled through another bad bite. I honestly would never let a widow or a recluse bite me because I'd be the one to who takes care of the injection site and still gets necrosis, neurological issues. xD
Serpens Ignis - Was that Coyote Peterson? I think I remember the video you’re talking about. He has been bitten by all sorts of insects but this one really took him out, and I was kind of disappointed. He had to use the venom extractor. I think under normal circumstances he would have been able to absorb the bite, like with the bullet ant and tarantula hawk.
God after you explaining the black widow spider I realized they’re totally terrifying and a huge threat at all really. I use to be absolutely petrified of them and the idea of them before this, its so insane how allll that fear I had was literally just created by myself and not by the spider, almost feel silly for being scared of them🤯😂😂.
Thanks for the video. I've been having some anxiety & a few nightmares after discovering a BWS in my boat storage locker. I've found them before but it always creeps me out & makes me paranoid. Its good to know that its not a life threatening bite if it does happen one day.
My symptoms lasted 2 days. Took a few hours to set in. The worst part lasted around 12hrs(cramps/convulsions/pain), the rest just felt like I'd tumbled down a mountain(sore as hell with back pain and muscle pain from the cramps and convulsions) took a few hrs to set in from the time of the bite. Initially it was just 2 pinches after it fell down my shirt. I didn't really have any major localized pain. It put me out of commission for 2 days but that's about it. After being bitten, I actually feel a lot more comfortable around them. I'd take the widow bite any day over a rattlesnake bite.
With the amount of times I was bitten I was surprised I didn’t have any other symptoms other than bodily pain and soreness. I did not experience any convulsions.
@@JacksWorldofWildlife you got lucky then. Either way, as you've demonstrated, these beautiful creatures aren't the threat everyone makes them out to be.
Just subbed and liked my guy! Big kudos for an informative yet absolutely crazy video on getting hit by a southern black widow. Female at that. And let it latch on for quite some time. Looking forward to checking out the rest of your catalog
True story that happened three days ago. I am a fan of your channel. I have learned a lot from you. I live in Florida out in the country. I went out early to mow my front yard. I have a Bird bath in the middle of the yard. I did not notice the single long strand of spider web from the tree branch to my bird bath. This strand was at least 10 feet long. As I was mowing I walked thru the strand which wrapped around my body I didn't think much of it and tried to remove it as best as I can and kept mowing. I felt something on the back of my neck which I thought was sweat and rubbed it. Bite number one. I then smacked the back of my neck and got bit twice. The two bites are halfway up the back of my neck just slightly to the left of my brain stem. The swelling was bad and my head felt like a oversized balloon with one of the worst headaches I've ever had. Just about every joint cracked and bad lower back pain. It was bad. The location of the bite was probably the worst place to get bit. I did not go to a doctor or hospital but took care of it myself. Kept it clean and applied antibiotic cream. Took me down for days and at times pretty painful but I'm making a slow but steady recovery It was a black widow and she had babies. I found one of her babies on me after I got bit The funny thing is I had just watched this video two days before I got bit.
I live in Phoenix Arizona I’ve been bitten multiple times by the female black widow it hurts so bad trust me in this video you have to fill it in person which you don’t ever want to fill a black widow bite you because it’s very very bad news bears for you very painful 😣 Your heartbeat goes crazy your breathing everything a bit me on the hand the pain was so unbearable I had to go to the emergency room so I’m not making this up very painful he is very very brave
Ive been in my shed a few times and encountered Black Widows, once in my bedroom, every time I freaked out and got. Far away from it as possible. Now I don’t exactly get scared by bugs, I love most every spider, kept them as pets, have ant colonies etc. but Black Widows have just always been different, I would see them and think, that is death, I will not tempt death. But now, despite your adverse reaction to the venom, I understand it wont kill me, it probably wouldn’t even hurt as bad as your bite did, seeing as you got a very large dose of venom. And all of that is of it even bit me, which I now see is highly unlikely. You have changed my attitude towards these spiders, congratulations.
My mom got bit in 5th grade at the playground at school. She has always explained it the same way. It first felt like a fire ant and then progressed to a bee sting and worse and worse. Then later at a piano recital, she fell off the piano bench and was rushed to the hospital. Large amount of antivenom, muscle relaxers and pain for the next 3 days. She said she couldn't breath because her diaphragm was contracting so much that she was in a ball. Crazy to hear this from you mother. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her treatment at the hospital...
This video basically confirmed what I already suspected about black widows-their venom is unlikely to _kill_ you, but it _will_ leave you in agony for some time thereafter.
@@JacksWorldofWildlife Thank you for doing this, though-many people think of spiders as being dangerous, but even the venomous ones are unlikely to bite unless provoked. They have _way_ more reason to be afraid of us than we have to be afraid of them.
Do you seriously fear anything?? I mean, any insects or animals? I wish I'm that brave! I'm surprised you're not a million subs youtuber, you deserved more subscribers!!!
Animals demand respect, not fear. There are animals I am more careful around, but most species would rather continue on their way than attack a human being for no reason.
He took a solid bite, allowing it to stay there pumping it in. The problem is the longer he allowed the venom to take effect w/o seeking medical attention.
Nothing medical attention will do other than what I’m doing. Antivenom is not needed (especially since it’s super dangerous to administer) and all they would give you is an IV and pain killers. Just stay hydrated and you’ll kick the symptoms in no time!
@@JacksWorldofWildlife At the same time, that probably wasn't the most severe bite you could've taken. There was a guy in a Nat Geo doc on black widows from the 90s who brought a blanket inside that was drying on a clothesline and it had a BW on it. It was pressed on his chest for hours unknown to him and kept biting into him. Or even a situation where you crush down on the BW. I've had 2 scenarios where I came close to doing that, one large BW was behind the lip of a painting in a painting class that was leaning against the wall and I turned it around and it ripped from the wall. I looked over the top and was weirded out to see a BW there, another big one was in a garbage can handle I had my hand in earlier. Those have to be the worst kinda bites if it actually nails you. There was also an Aussie guy on a venom docu I saw who got 4 bites from a redback to his wrist during some ordeal where he had to scratch thru a patch of virgin bush at night because his boat motor died. To get to the parking lot, he had to scratch thru that stuff and he slipped in mud and ripped off a redback in a tree as he fell and it bit him 4x and he eventually passed out. He thought a snake bit him. If you got one of those accidental worst scenario bites, A) how much worse would it have been and B) would you recommend hospital?
@@JacksWorldofWildlife Btw, I would like the pain killers, haha. That's the prob. However, they are much stingier than ever before w/ those for obvious reasons, so I woulda preferred to take my bite 20 yrs ago as opposed to now. ;-)

@@JacksWorldofWildlife so real
Why arent you more popular? Youre extremely informative
No idea 🤷♂️
^
Oh hell yeah! He needs his own Netflix series
It’s got a much faster effect rate with smaller mammals, but yes the primary use of the venom is to instantly kill/paralyze prey! 👍
My uncle got bit by black widiow and his whole left arm is permanently palized. They can causes serious permanently damage for sure.
True.& Im sorry to hear that man
I have a brown widow infestation out my window and was looking for videos of people getting bit, no clue how you aren’t popular at all, thanks for the vid
This guy: 😝
Coyote Peterson: aaaAAAAHHHHHHH AAAAAA AAAAAAAAHH
When he was in the bath he knew then and there that he screwed up
I love it how he says " awer your so cute come give me a hug'
Wow! Sounds like a terrible time! These bites are no joke! Thanks for the comment!
Great Video! I’m afraid of spiders but since I’ve been watching more videos like this its been helping me get a lot more comfortable with them.
Glad to hear it! 😎🤙
It’s not that bad. Followed by “it’s 6am, everything hurts, I can’t move”
😭 ohhhh nooooooo ,🤣💀
I just came across your channel the other day and I’ve seen at least 40 videos now it’s been quite the binge
😎😎😎 out here doing the good work I see! Thanks!
This man just took a bite from a black widow for your entertainment. Give this man a like help him get that money. Subbed.
Very underrated channel! I have seen about 10 black widows outside of my house this past week and I was curious if I was going to die haha. I’m a little bit relieved but they’re still very very intimidating to me
She's just like any other spider. You handle her hand over hand, and there's no real danger.
Appreciate the bite being done in one take. Much better than these hyped up shows.
the 'Texas Crazy'...is strong in this one. sheesh. Ok, Ok...we 'get it'. you're ...'Fearless'. Jesus....
Thanks for the video. I've been having some anxiety & a few nightmares after discovering a BWS in my boat storage locker. I've found them before but it always creeps me out & makes me paranoid. Its good to know that its not a life threatening bite if it does happen one day.
The balls this man has. If I was his mother, I would horrifically terrified. Yet proud as hell. God damn.
People have actually died from black widow spiders but not since 1983
Haha. I relate to this guy so much. I keep all black widows I find as pets. They are super gentle and careful
Can we appreciate how he sacrificed himself to get bit by a black widow, one of the deadliest species in the world, king 👑
Hyphine XD not quite as deadly as people think but thank you! I’ll be taking this 👉👑
I love this guy too… but If you Will see deadly Tim Freide Black mamba bite more than 200 bite

I love widow spiders, especially how they look so beautiful with those mechanical looking legs, it''s an evolutionary killing machine.
You got heart man just be careful out there in the wildlife
My symptoms lasted 2 days. Took a few hours to set in. The worst part lasted around 12hrs(cramps/convulsions/pain), the rest just felt like I'd tumbled down a mountain(sore as hell with back pain and muscle pain from the cramps and convulsions) took a few hrs to set in from the time of the bite. Initially it was just 2 pinches after it fell down my shirt. I didn't really have any major localized pain. It put me out of commission for 2 days but that's about it. After being bitten, I actually feel a lot more comfortable around them. I'd take the widow bite any day over a rattlesnake bite.
michael worona it’s a rough few days but yeah I’m with you on that 😂 fingers crossed I don’t ever have to deal with a rattlesnake bite.
@@JacksWorldofWildlife did you get the exorcist convulsions for an hour? That was about the only part where I got nervous.

I lived in Sahuarita Arizona and use to find them in the garage. Never been bit though but I think they look cool
So I guess we can call you spiderman lol
I’m mad you don’t have more subs

😂 welcome to the big leagues
This video basically confirmed what I already suspected about black widows-their venom is unlikely to _kill_ you, but it _will_ leave you in agony for some time thereafter.
Indeed 😵💫
@@JacksWorldofWildlife Thank you for doing this, though-many people think of spiders as being dangerous, but even the venomous ones are unlikely to bite unless provoked. They have _way_ more reason to be afraid of us than we have to be afraid of them.
I admire this man for his knowledge and bravery but I’ll tell you what, I’ll stick to staying away from venomous spiders still.

However, they are much stingier than ever before w/ those for obvious reasons, so I woulda preferred to take my bite 20 yrs ago as opposed to now. ;-)
