To many, the black widow and brown recluse are harbingers of death, spiders to both fear and despise. In reality these spiders are happy to be left on their own, never to cause harm to any person, let alone kill. These two spiders in the U.S. have a nasty reputation for being deadly venomous, when no verified report of death solely attributed to them has ever been documented. It will hurt A LOT but the average healthy human being should be able to process a defensive envenomation without going into critical condition. These spiders may pack quite the punch, but just remember to respect them and their space and you'll find they mean you no harm! Below are the links to my videos I referenced in today's special.

@Cup soup, I used to hate spiders and I would kill everyone I saw ,Then one day I was watching a video similar to this content and , I then understood what these creatures are about and what they
Ile to eat. These creatures eat other insects primarily and also on the menu are mosquitoes. If know about mosquitoes they can and do spread diseases that can be deadly , so after learning what spiders eat , when I see a Spider Spinning a web on my porch or on one of my rose bushes I let them be , I tend to think of it this way , that spider may have saved my life or one of my family members life by catching and eating the mosquito that was Going to bite me , if if this isn't or wasn't the case I look at this way . if you have never seen a spider start from ground zero and make a big target shaped web , its certainly a sight to see., long live the arachnids .

Got tagged by a recluse that I didn't see, and laid on. Caused some good damage on the back of my neck. Almost every bite from them occurs because they get smooshed while trying to hide in couches or beds. They always try to run if you see them in the open.

Anyone with a spider bite such as the recluse bite here, with *_visible necrosis,_* should see a doctor immediately.
I do think it's important to keep in mind that everyone's body is different. Young children, the elderly, people with underlying health conditions (of which they may be unaware) etc all may very well have significantly worse reactions to these bites.

    • @catpoke9557
      @catpoke9557 4 місяці тому

Yeah, you're not supposed to see a sore. If you have a sore from a brown recluse bite that usually means you're having a bad reaction to it or you might be getting an infection. Most brown recluse bites are like a regular spider bite. They're red and raised. They aren't typically full on visible necrosis like in this! That said, he lets these animals inject him with WAY more venom than most people, so I think that's why he developed a sore. He probably was reacting normally to it but just got really inflamed because of the sheer amount of venom.
Anyways rule of thumb for brown recluse bites is that if a sore develops, see a doctor. You may develop an infection otherwise. I am going to go against the grain and say it's a bad idea to go to the doctor before developing a sore because like I said, most brown recluse bites are harmless. Not worth bothering the doctors over it.

Yer tryin' WAY too hard kid.
I have been up close and personal with 4 different individuals in my 54yrs whom were the unfortunate recipients of recluse bites.
Of the 4, three were happenstance, most likely bit the one time upon disturbing the arachnid.(all were in various outbuildings of property owners) The 4th however, happened while sleeping on her couch in her living room.
    The previous 3:
The two youngest suffered about what you did.. But they DID bitch about it hurtin' a bit.
The 3rd older guy had one get stuck in his hair and ended up biting his back from him flailing trying to get away from something neither of us knew until AFTER the jump. LOL. His got pretty necrotic, though not a black gaping hole by no means(I've seen all the pics too) it DID get nasty tho and reminded me very much of when my father was in an explosion in 76 (I was only 8) and spent the better part of a year in the burn ward at Holy Cross. After his daily debribement, I would watch them re wrap him. THAT bite, in its worst state, looked like my father's freshly debribed 3rd degree burns. So not black and rotten but NOT good just the same. Purple as hell around it.
Now the 4th one. Mid 20s aunt of my ex. Woke up one morning made us all breakfast, complaining of her ankle hurting. Before the end of thaf day, it was the size of her calf. The next morning, she was slightly fevered, ankle was darkening with a VERY DARK scab like spot DIRECTLY on the back of her lower ankle.
Over the next weeks, it was I that took her to her to the ER then the few follow ups at her docs.
He surmised it likely became trapped under her foot when she moved in her sleep and bit her repeatedly until it could get free OR until it died.
Over those weeks I ABSOLUTELY WATCHED THIS WOMANS ANKLE BECOME NECROTIC WITH BLACK STINKING SKIN AND ALL!!
All told, she had 3 surgeries removing necrotic flesh. The gaping frigging maw in her ankle WAS a sight to behold.
It DID and DOES happen. It's all about the circumstances.
To this day some 30 plus later....
It doesn't look like her left ankle should even be functional, she lost THAT much mass around it. Def disfigured.
So, while I recognize the enormity of your berries through my arachniphobic eyes....thou art foolish and quite bombastic.
Cuz zat shit DOES happen yo!
This video is recklace in every way and you are MUCH too young to apparently recognize the vast difference in peoples individual reactions to any one thing!.

Well, here's what I think Jack: Although I've been black widow bitten several times, and not suffered as serious symptoms as you have, it seems reasonable that holding the spider down for the full nine yards is the difference.(duh) Pretty sure my bites were bite and run. What have we learned: don't hold venomous spiders down. Unless you're doing important educational videos.

I have been bitten by both the recluse and the widow, and I can honestly say, a wolf spider bite hurts more and made a bigger bacterial mess of my arm. The black widow bite just gave me an overall feeling of unwellness, hard to explain, but in a nutshell, I felt like five pounds of s#it in a two pound bag, best way to put it. Nothing that kept me down, just felt like a cross between being overworked and hung over at the same time. The recluse bite didn't even cause any bruising, but did make a small hole that scabbed over and just went away in short order. Again, the wolf spider was way more heinous, that bite sucked.

@@meganbaker3598 Wolf spiders do have a mild venom. It mainly causes itching, mild swelling, and slight pain unless you're allergic to it. The biggest risk with a wolf spider bite comes with infection. If you don't keep it clean while it heals, bacteria will have a field day with the wound. Again, everyone reacts slightly differently to venom, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I learned that just because one is bitten, lets say by a king snake does not mean they will live because they are non-poisionous. It is determined if one is allergic to the venom or the bacteria that may be transmitted, for instance. Just like a bee bite may not kill you BUT if one is allergic to bees or wasp, etc, it definitely may. I learned this by getting bit by a king snake by accidentally stepping on it and sent to a scientific venom doctor at a medical center that I worked at that retains venom for poisonous bites. So one can die from an insect bite if they are severely allergic to that venom or gets a bacteria that turns septic.

I felt terrible the rest of the day but I didn’t go to Dr or hospital because I wasn’t sure what happened. I went to sleep with the help of sleeping medicine and when I woke up the nightmare started! I didn’t wake up….. my wife woke me up and my toe was Red….. like red red. I was soaked in sweat. Anyway I didn’t end up going to hospital till 3 days after and till this day my right testicle is 6 inches larger than my left. The man in the middle suffered the worst! He is now 14.5 inches which is 1 .5 inches larger than before the bite! I’ll never forget that morning but because of what I went through all my friends now keep there shoes outside!

@@JacksWorldofWildlife I've followed his work since I was young as, like you, I love the misunderstood and dangerous animals as opposed to the "cute" ones. When I see a Great White preying on a seal, a Black Widow eating a cricket or a Wolf taking down a caribou, I'm like ...ohh how sweet. I've fed spider's about my property and made habitats for a wide range of predators. Anyway, Jack stay safe and I can't wait for your next video.

    Can I just say,
My abusive step mom , when I was a child, made me clean out cellar around a well that went to our house (on our property, we had a farm & 36 acres too )
But anyway she was all mad , and just started throwing the cinder blocks off a pile they were in
We had 1 tiny flashlight, no phones back then
And she screamed (to her credit I will say this bxtch caught the spider in a random mason jar lmao)
But she got bit by a black widow lollll
She had to go to the hospital & was basically out of commission for 2 days
I just want to say , for younger me, thank you widow spider 🕷️ 🖤

The infection from a bite site not being cleaned properly is the real danger. I think most people probably don't even know how to properly keep a wound clean. They just pop a band aid on it and leave it. Maybe clean it once then when the band aid falls off they start picking at it.
