It’s always mind blowing how German engineers can make something that on first glance is plain simple. But as you begin to look at it it just radiates a quality that’s hard to explain in words
For me the Fleiger needs to be either the A Dial or the B Dial. If I were to go small seconds with that awesome movement I would choose the Marine Original
Good review, Jody. Hope you enjoy it. I got a flieger (not a Stowa), and what you don't really take in until you have one on your wrist day in, day out is how beautiful the blued steel hands are.
These Stowas are excellent. They do the case grinding in-house, and in person you can tell that the bushing and lines on these are a step above many other watch cases.
No way I can afford this one. I only watched this video to hear him say, "Hello and welcome to just one more watch," and "So, there you have it." Also to see Jodi's tshirt of the day. Thanks Jodi, you're my favorite watch channel!
A beautiful Fleiger! I own a less expensive version and I love it. You are right about seeing the face in the daylight. It is instantly legible for time telling and can only be topped by seeing it at night in all of it's Lume glory.
i bought one in 2019 and sold it last year, i regret selling it now it was such a beautiful watch and timeless. I now have an itch that i need to scratch again, think i will end up buying another !!
I have the 2017 limited edition version with the the old radium style lume dial. It has a great presence on the wrist and just oozes quality. This watch is perfect!
Currently have a Parnis GMT with a clone of that Pocket-Watch Movement. For just $60. USD, It works well & I LOVE it. Knowing now that I didn't have to folk out $1,200.USD for an original... I LOVE it even MORE!
I have a 44mm Chinese special with a seagull movement it cost about $60 including a new leather band. The movement is gorgeous and the watch fantastic quality.
I love hand winding movements Edit: furthermore this is a real German watch with those massive single block bridges. Great work all around and really the only descriptions is it's very German.
Omg, so much good here, no date so perfect symmetry, no writing plastered all over it! Please please other manufacturers stop writing ‘Automatic ‘ on dials. Only neg is shame no lume on the seconds.
Automatic is the most annoyingly pointless dial text. It reminds me of cheap brands in the early 90s who thought they could appear high end by having a sweeping seconds hand “like a Rolex”
ahh finally some pilots. I love a good pilot, tisell as I'm sure you know does a decent pilot watch as well. the laco and aristo is good as well. I prefer the stowa, and laco traditional styles.
Nicely done. I am starting to get into watches a lot more and really like these Fliegers and chronographs. I also think the Domasko, Longines are nice too!
I just had a look at their range on their site and the Chronograph 1938 bronze would be my pick. The Flieger looks great too especially that movement just beautiful
Great review, thanks. I have a slimmer wrist than you, so my choice would be their Flieger Classic 36 model. I just have to save up the money to pay for the Watch, the Import Duties, and the Australian GST!!
Man. Just as I was all set to pull the trigger on the Antea Klassik 41...now I'm second guessing myself! I really love the case profile on the Flieger.
Jody, it's a beauty! Speaking of beauty, you keep mentioning Mrs. Jody. I would enjoy hearing her take on the watch world and the insanity that ensues.
Nice review on a fine watch (although I'm not too keen on the subdial). If you have $1200 to spend on a Flieger, Stowa is the watch to buy. If you have $400, buy a Laco Augsburg auto. You get the same "experience" of a Flieger for 1/3 the price. The Laco has a sapphire crystal and is rated at 5ATM. All stainless and 42mm.
It's a great looking watch. I can't afford it. German watches with Swiss movements do not come cheap. I think this is one of the best examples I have seen. Plus the way it wears it does not seem too big like many of them are. Tisell makes something similar but I don't know the price and it is always sold out when I look. Great review though. I love where they put the second hand.
I have a similar flieger watch by Parnis (44m, domed crystal and quite thin) and it's one of my favorite watches, which cost me just 65 bucks. I 've paired it with a handmade strap from Etsy and my wrist enjoys it like another watch. P.s. I lol'ed when you said you are in love with a German pilot ^^
😍😍😍I love Stowa, Sinn and my grail a Damasko. The Germans seem to just get it right, lusted after a Sinn 103 for years then tried it on to find it way too thick. The Stowa I lust after now is the Marine Original but I pretty much love them all that Type A been another winner. They should be twice the price, if IWC still make one it will be for sure. Will it be twice that watch... I doubt it! So glad you appreciate them too Jody.
I love the original fliegers and Stowa is arguably one of the more desirable manufacturers of these time pieces that is somewhat affordable. For me, the ultimate is the IWC Big Pilot (but far, far beyond my means). As you said Jody, the Stowa is not cheap either. What to do for a teacher-flieger fanatic? Last year, I bought a Laco 42mm Aachen (type B, under $400 on sale at Long Island Watch) and a San Martin (38mm type A, $120), both sporting sapphire crystals. While I agree that the Stowa is more striking and contains a far-superior movement to the Miyota 821-sourced Laco 21 and the NH35 in my Type A, both my watches were less than half the price of the Stowa. The bronze San Martin is aging beautifully and, given the sterile dial, garners much flieger-type interest. The Laco offers much of the same authenticity and quality as the Stowa, even though I do like the look of the Stowa even more than the Laco (which I adore). My favourite Pilot watch? The Hamilton Day Date Pilot (a-la Interstellar). After all, it has gone where no other pilot watch has ever been! 🙄😁
Your video is like a detox from videos & articles about those luxury watches from Baselworld I've been watching for past couple of days 😁 you bring me back to reality 😅😅 I like the design, but I'll like it even more if they have smaller case size 😁 i have small wrist
It would be interesting if you could have a look at a Dekla. They are a novel german company that makes fliegers. Cases, heat blued hands and dials are apparently done in-house, and theres a choice of 2824-2 or 2801 all for under 500€. Great deal if they are any good, but there are few opinions online on them. A WUS topic reports a very reflective crystal, but who knows, maybe they have improved on that.
P.S. When buying a Stowa, you can send them any vector-art design/image and they will laser etch it onto the large winding wheel (or rotor, for automatics), for not-that-much-extra.
I can certainly understand why you're smitten with it. Never had a desire to own a manual-wind watch until I saw this. And then there's the price... 😳 Just One More Watch: helping me decimate my bank account since...! 🤣
I was SO with you...until I heard the price. There's quite a few watches I could buy for that price that are on my short list and offer a lot more...stuff, for lack of a better term. Or maybe quite a few watches that altogether cost as much as this one! I know, I know. Dream big or don't dream at all.
Nice review. Are those screws on the movement genuine blued too? Talking of genuine, for that money you could fill a shed with Parnis Fleigers and have enough left over to rent yourself a Luftwaffe uniform (if that is what floats your uboat).
Couldn't decide either. Looked around some more and went for the Tisell B-flieger instead... sterile dial, great specs, checks all the boxes. For a good price!
thanks for another great review, I really got a thing for these classic fliegers (have always been into WW2-aviation and that era's style in general). However I would always go for the Laco Leipzig. I love the see-through of your Stowa here and some other variations on the topic, but the Laco is closest to the 'original'. If I go for such a watch, I go for 'the real thing'...well almost ;) (and the Laco is yours for 'only' around 1.000 Euro)
thanks for this. I've been bouncing around different mfgs to see which would be the best proper flieger for a reasonable price. Hard to deny Stowa has one of the strongest propositions given its history and build.. and the ability to customize if you so choose. I was also considering a non-traditional flieger style watch. I've seen so many classic A & B dials, you really can't tell one brand from another..so, to be a little more distinct and add a little character, I was also considering a small seconds hand also. If not from Stowa like you have here, Archimede makes a pretty cool one in nearly the same fashion.. but, what I did like about the Achimede was it was not only less expensive, but I believe all (or more of) the details, including the small seconds, are lumed. And, it's made of a good steel quality and from Germany.
It looks great. However, it is way too expensive for me. By the way, I would like you to give me another piece of advice on my next purchase. I am in between two "invictas." The first one is a grand diver 3045, and the other is a Pro-diver 9404, which one should I buy?

Cool watch.A pair of Luftwaffe flying goggles and a JU 88 to play with and your laughing? Actung Spitfire!!!!!!!!!! Sorry .They bombed our chip shops the swines! I must grow up? Cheers as always .Len.
Listen, don't mention the war! Now, that's two egg mayonnaise, a prawn Goebbels, a Hermann Goering, and four Colditz salads. Wait a moment, I got a bit confused because everyone keeps mentioning the war....
Jody. I recently purchased a watch that is not sold in the USA. Blade intrepid model 10-3431gss. I found it being sold on Let go. The seller said his uncle sent it to him from Dubai. He never wore it and it still had the plastic on it. Couldn't find to much about it online but emailed A dealer in Dubai to confirm it was real. Do you know anything about the company or watch itself. I paid $40.00 US dollars. I think I got a good deal. Thoughts?
Beautiful piece but I'd still want it nearer to original size .I get that 55mm is a dinner plate but least 46 mm for me .Type B would be my choice of dial ,just love the minutes on the outer dial .p.s I presume this one hacks .dont think you mentioned it ,
It’s always mind blowing how German engineers can make something that on first glance is plain simple. But as you begin to look at it it just radiates a quality that’s hard to explain in words
For me the Fleiger needs to be either the A Dial or the B Dial. If I were to go small seconds with that awesome movement I would choose the Marine Original
I do agree with you..
"If you need instructions for this one, you got issues" Jordy killed it
I love how the dial is oversized, simple, and easy to read. I hang mine on the wall and use it as a wall clock.
Glad to see they keep using a handwound movements. There is something about winding your watch in the morning. And get a clear view of the movement.
Good review, Jody. Hope you enjoy it.
I got a flieger (not a Stowa), and what you don't really take in until you have one on your wrist day in, day out is how beautiful the blued steel hands are.

This is simply stunning. Grail watch bucket list for me.
I have the 2017 limited edition version with the the old radium style lume dial. It has a great presence on the wrist and just oozes quality. This watch is perfect!
I love my Stowa Flieger. It's my most accurate mechanical watch, and the movement is beautiful.
What a watch, clearly you can say you went for her "PERSONALITY"
Gem of a watch.

There’s also a Blue Dial version. Either way, I don’t think you can go wrong... what you’re getting for the price 😉
You can also get a bronze one on eBay for less than a $100
This channel always surprise me. That's a beautiful watch
Personally, I prefer the Type A with the traditional seconds hand and a darker strap.
With that movement, you have reviewed my grail Fleger. Thanks!
I love hand winding movements
Edit: furthermore this is a real German watch with those massive single block bridges. Great work all around and really the only descriptions is it's very German.
Yes... Fliegers really are awesome... The bronze pieces are beautiful also. 🧐
Very Nice Flieger! Love Stowa watches! On my list
Nice and really does look like a Flying Instrument.
Brilliant review JOMW.
Actually it was. It even had a flight instruments number
An amazing time piece....all you need....
I love how it does so much by being so simple. Great choice Jody
My favorite movement, simply stunning each time you see it!
I love the style of the pilots watches. I just bought a Seiko SRP619 which draws some cues from the fliegers but would love a proper one.
Hello, that one is on my short list for my first manual wind, and real pilot and German watch so it checks 3 boxes!!
Omg, so much good here, no date so perfect symmetry, no writing plastered all over it! Please please other manufacturers stop writing ‘Automatic ‘ on dials. Only neg is shame no lume on the seconds.
Couldn't agree more Harry, so unnecessary. Cheers!
Automatic is the most annoyingly pointless dial text. It reminds me of cheap brands in the early 90s who thought they could appear high end by having a sweeping seconds hand “like a Rolex”
I have a white Flieger from Stowa and it’s an awesome watch I can highly recommend them .
I would love a large flieger with a B type dial
Great video again as usual
ahh finally some pilots. I love a good pilot, tisell as I'm sure you know does a decent pilot watch as well. the laco and aristo is good as well. I prefer the stowa, and laco traditional styles.
One of the best looking watches you’ve reviewed so far.

Absolutely beautiful Jody. One of your best reviews.
Beautiful watch. Too bad they didn’t try to lume the seconds. Still a very nice watch.

what extremely beautiful packaging...my Flieger (Type B) came in a cardboard box....
Great review as always!!! You are definitely in love with this German fräulein!
Man. Just as I was all set to pull the trigger on the Antea Klassik 41...now I'm second guessing myself! I really love the case profile on the Flieger.
I have the Antea Klassic 41 and get a lot of compliments on it. Good choice. I will however, probably buy a Flieger handwinder too someday.
Jody, it's a beauty! Speaking of beauty, you keep mentioning Mrs. Jody. I would enjoy hearing her take on the watch world and the insanity that ensues.
Gotta love the beautiful simplicity of a Swiss Unitas movement. 👍⌚😎
Great video Jody. And a nice Stowa. Simple definitely has its advantages.
Nice review on a fine watch (although I'm not too keen on the subdial). If you have $1200 to spend on a Flieger, Stowa is the watch to buy. If you have $400, buy a Laco Augsburg auto. There is a Steinhart with a unitas handwound movement for around 500 pounds cheaper than this
Great watch - wonderful video

Wow. Beautiful watch. I see it didn't take you long to flip it though.
OK that was weird. My F91W beeped at the exact same time as your intro beep. Sounded the same.
Classic by name classic by nature... Magnificent piece. 👌👌👌👌💯🎯😍. Oh, and don't anyone dare comment that it glorifies war.
😍😍😍I love Stowa, Sinn and my grail a Damasko. The Germans seem to just get it right, lusted after a Sinn 103 for years then tried it on to find it way too thick. Lovely piece Jody, outta my price range sadly
That view from the back. Oh my. ❤️❤️❤️
Stowa ist echt der Hammer !
Nice review. Number on the side is not the serial number, but the luftwaffe's spec sheet reference.
Hellooooo from MALAYSIA.. Breakfast now and watching this nice as always review.. Double Thumbs up mr.JODY
Lovely watch. I like the movement too! There's a nice Maplin And Webb and a Tissot Anti magnetique with this movement.
Very nice, very round.
I love the original fliegers and Stowa is arguably one of the more desirable manufacturers of these time pieces that is somewhat affordable. My favourite Pilot watch? The Hamilton Day Date Pilot (a-la Interstellar). After all, it has gone where no other pilot watch has ever been! 🙄😁
I’ve got a Laco Cuxhaven. Functionally the same watch, aesthetically totally different. Great watches both of them.
Price aside (or especially in light of it), it seems like a simple watch with a hand-winding movement could be a bit thinner.
Brian G this to my understanding is a movement that is as made to be used in pocket watches. Stowa has other models that are thinner, 8-9mm.
Too large for my girly wrists, otherwise just about perfection. 10ATM water resistance would be nice though.
Your video is like a detox from videos & articles about those luxury watches from Baselworld I've been watching for past couple of days 😁 you bring me back to reality 😅😅
I like the design, but I'll like it even more if they have smaller case size 😁 i have small wrist

Great watch, great review. Nice work as always Jody.
I have one on my wrist right now.... its perfect! I actually have the next watch off the line than the one you are reviewing... #744!
Relatively new to your channel ..
I must confess I had not heard of t his brand but now I need this one .
I can certainly understand why you're smitten with it. Never had a desire to own a manual-wind watch until I saw this. And then there's the price... 😳 Just One More Watch: helping me decimate my bank account since...! 🤣

Muy bonito. Quizá me lo compre pronto. Thanks, Jody

Nice review. Are those screws on the movement genuine blued too?
Talking of genuine, for that money you could fill a shed with Parnis Fleigers and have enough left over to rent yourself a Luftwaffe uniform (if that is what floats your uboat).
Yep, they’re thermally blued as well.
Quite resembles a pocket watch with a wrist band. I love the look! Rounded crown gives an elegant touch. Price...not so much
Congrats! It’s yours, I assume? Stowas are almost bespoke.
Thanks for having the price in Aussie dollars.
I have a Parnis that looks just like this one. I guess mine is a fake. I love it.
I'm convinced. I've been looking at fliegers for some time, Laco vs Stowa. I think Stowa is the winner, since IWC Big Pilot is out of range.
Couldn't decide either. Looked around some more and went for the Tisell B-flieger instead... sterile dial, great specs, checks all the boxes. For a good price!
@@johandebondt5749 Thx. The Tisell looks like a great value!
STOWA schön. gut. wahr. / beautiful. good. true. 👍👍👍
Why not blue the second hand if it's not lumed? Love the movement but would prefer it with a more traditional flieger dial layout.
thanks for another great review, I really got a thing for these classic fliegers (have always been into WW2-aviation and that era's style in general).

Hey Jody, have you checked out the Parnis pilot watches? They make one with a 6497 or 6498 that can be found for about $60 USD pretty easily.
I just love some of these German brands have a Sinn 104 but could get another one!
Very nice watch! Good review!
Its not the serial number engraved on the side...Its the RLM spec. starting with 23 designating that this is a B-Uhr.
It looks great. However, it is way too expensive for me.
By the way, I would like you to give me another piece of advice on my next purchase. I am in between two "invictas." The first one is a grand diver 3045, and the other is a Pro-diver 9404, which one should I buy?
I got the extra cheap version, Parnis with ST36 I think, the Sea Gull hand wind, seconds at 9, loving it for under $80 AUS.
I have one of those and it is a fantastic watch for the price
Nicely done Jody. I think you're going through a pilot's infatuation period, I had one too, but then I finally realized that I preferred field watches more 😻... I like the new channel's logo, it's a Tudor Blackbay inspired, right?? 🤣
Ha! Yes, a couple of people have compared it to the Baselword Tudor! And yes, I'm fully in my "Fleiger Phase" atm. Cheers mate. Jody
