The Stowa 40mm hand winding, no date, no logo was the first watch in my collection to break the $1000 mark. I was super nervous not just about the price but buying one without seeing it in the metal. After a couple of years with it, I have no regrets. It really is beautiful.
The first, but was it the last? I've just ordered the 36mm version in bronze and it's my first watch to be over £1000. Am similarly apprehensive and wondering if this will be the watch that completes my collection or simply be the 'gateway' to just spending more money!
I just took delivery of one of their 40mm Marine Classics with a custom brushed case for a milestone birthday. I ponied up the extra cash to get the ETA 2824-2 rotor laser engraved. They did such a fantastic job.
I was shocked by this youtube video as I saw both watches here are fully lumed. Recently I email with the CS of Stowa, and they replied that they no longer provide full lume type A 40mm. What a shame~
Cut costing measures in Germany. Still waiting for mine. If the minute indeces are not lumed, I'll flip it instantly! I think the Verus line as the minute indeces lumed.
I own the sister watch, a Stowa Marine 36 Manual. Its one hell of a great watch, it absolutely oozes quality. I can highly recommend it. Im planning to purchase a 36 Flieger Manual, later this month.
@Dust E app 16.5cm. It fits really well, but the strap design is more important than with larger watches, as you simply see more of it. Nearly all of my watches are chrono autos, so Im used to larger watches. But the Stowa doesnt seem to small in any way at all, even when being used to larger watches.
Great video. I'm in the market for a 36mm Classic for my 6-3/4 wrist. Rob- can you confirm that the newer version with the Sellita movement DID NOT have a ghost position whereas the older ETA version did?
I’ve been crushing on one of these manual wind stowa models for awhile now! And boom every time u make me want it even more now!! 😉 lol Awesome video as always
Think the box is a kinda sad downgrade.. think I lean more towards the Laco Pro, looking more authentic with the case as well as having 20 bar water resistance
Swatch Eta embargo ripple effects in action. It used to bum me out but now I think it’s better because we re starting to see more competitors jump, making their own 2824.
Have the 36mm automatic version for over 12 years great watch and no problems since ownership. Older came in a steel box and mine has a sterile dial.. If you're going to have a the model number on the dial get it sterile with no Stowan logo and definitely no date. I own several Stowa's.
I know I'm weird but I kinda want to have a Flieger Stowa as my dress watch (in 40mm diameter manual-wind of course).. Just to assert dominance and be different when the ballroom gets dark 💪
Absolutely love your videos. You are my favorite UA-cam channel. I have a question I wanted to ask you about. I got the Stowa Flieger 40mm bronze version. The leather strap is decent but I would love to get a nice grey nato strap on it to change it a bit. But I don’t know where I could find one that have buckles that matches the bronze of the case and. Could I remove the buckle from the leather strap and use that one on a nato strap? If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. I abselutly adore my Stowa flieger bronze. It’s just amazing. Perfect dimensions
I got the bronze. It’s just amazing. You will definitely not regret it. The bronze is a mix between normal bronze and steel and it looks absolutely amazing.
If you hold one in your hand next to a archimede or a laco you wouldn’t say that. It’s just so much better in every sense. Just love mine. Probably my favorite watch. Only problem i have is getting a strap that fits the bronze case
Agree, most of us need a chronometer or dive watch for all the track and field events we participate in along with the monthly ocean diving excursions. It’s just a matter of time before the FBI, CIA or MI6 requests us to assist in a secret mission. This is just too basic, plus who wants to assist zee Germans?

Was the customs and import taxes substantial?

Such an amazing piece. I have the aged bronze version of this watch..no logo with ETA movement. The winding is awesome! Zero regrets.
Any issues with it or the movement?
@@Ferien7 zero..it's been flawless and one of the most satisfying winds!
I just received my hand wound Stowa Classic 40 mm and the minute markers are not fully lumed like this video. What a jip, you bum-doped me Rob!!!
Damn. Are they not lumed now?

I think their watches scream German quality. I'm sure you'll be happy with the Flieger as much as you are with the Marine!

Did you get your Stowa? How is it?
How did you get the engraving option? I am looking at their website and I don't see an option for engraving.
How will this fit on a 16,25 wrist.. seems like there will be no holes over in the strap.. what do you think?
Think the box is a kinda sad downgrade.. think I lean more towards the Laco Pro, looking more authentic with the case as well as having 20 bar water resistance
I was just browsing Stowas website this morning.
I bought one of these instead of the IWC Mark 18. The IWC is a rip-off compared to this Stowa.
I like the engraving on the side of the case, it just makes sense.
Lovely watches Rob 👍
I agree, the numbers need to be there.
Beautiful field watch a little pricey, nice review Rob. Hey its German got to be good
Stunning
Swatch Eta embargo ripple effects in action. It used to bum me out but now I think it’s better because we re starting to see more competitors jump, making their own 2824.
Why, WHY can't they get rid of those rivets on the strap?!

Are you saying in 12 years you’ve never had the watch serviced?
80 EUR just for engraving?
So why didn't they use the eta 2801 & the sw210 no date movements? Hmmm. Strange.
If you like the watch-type and the heritage, but not the price. Take a look at the Laco Augsburg.
That Laco has an horrible Miyota movement though.
You can get the same watch from Laco with the ETA in it as well. The case is just a more traditional flieger case. They’re both really nice though.
I know I'm weird but I kinda want to have a Flieger Stowa as my dress watch (in 40mm diameter manual-wind of course).. Just to assert dominance and be different when the ballroom gets dark 💪
That is weird, who frequently attends a ballroom?

This may not match great as it’s not a true nato, but these are so comfy. www.crownandbuckle.com/chevron-adjustable-obsidian-bronze.html

Same here. In 36
Great Video, i really want a flieger
Is there a bracelet option that would fit this models
You can go straight end link and get any 20mm bracelet but sadly no bracelet with fitted end links.
Nice watches .
Laco's lugs were "malnutrition"
A nice watch but pretty pricey for a basic watch.
Yes there a lot of choices if you don't care about the name

Ghostdate?
Movement has crown position for date but dial doesn’t show a date. It’s “ghosted”
For me that's a deal breaker. It's like a foe patina or alligator strap it's just not quite right
First!
Love the watch btw😆😆
Too minimalistic for that price. I’d feel guilty buying such a boring watch.
ha, sounds like you don’t really know what it is
@@MrMadvillan sure I know what it is. It’s a boring watch. Like I said.
@@Panzerfaust9161 perhaps may i suggest an invicta or if youre a board rich guy, franck muller
@@Panzerfaust9161 - Your boring! But you are already aware of that fact.
Over priced and outclassed by the Timefactors Speedbird.
Yeah, but you can actually buy one of these.
You get what you pay 💰 for .
That kind of looks like a generic flieger/field watch though. Those hands are wrong for a flieger. The crown, the bracelet, it's a different watch.
The Stowa is better looking, and much higher quality. So how is it outclassed? You get what you pay for.
@@marcbrunengraber3507 I've owned both the Speedbird and the Stowa. You are incorrect on build quality. Looks are subjective.
