Still same idea on 2024? I thought S cinetone is supposed to be straight forward ? Probably you could have added your settings on your camera for viewers to see so they can judge the changes for themselves …
In the settings, if you go into metering>spot metering point and change it from center to focus point link, the exposure meters gives you a meter based on what’s in focus. Maybe still not accurate but way better than having it at center.
I believe exposing it around 103-106% with zebra levels adds more dynamic range for the footage while at the same time preseriving the highlight details. The only thing to consider is you have to adjust the exposure/highlights down at post to recover the highlights. This setting is not set for skintones but for the scene highlights.
Beginner question: When you say “lower exposure for skin to 65%”…. Are you lowering it by adjusting iso & apurture? & how are you able to know the exact percentage you are aiming for?
@@ch.off.vitaliytyshchenko9567 He's referring to the lines on a histogram- it's the zebra level- watch the sony fx6 demo by alistair chapman for more information, its on youtube too.
Thanks for posting the video. Does your skin tone settings recommended include darker skin tones? Please just wanted to know whether this applies to all skin tones regardless of shade.
I gave up on Scinetone… i tried but the highlights came through to high snd i had to under expose a lot. I switch to SLOG 3 with Phantom Luts snd so far so good
What do you when you say your skin tones are up at 85%? Where does the percent come from? It would be more helpful yo know what IRE skin tine levels are?
hi there great video very helpful. I shoot underwater with Sony A7 s3 scinetone wide angle. I want mu blue background to be correctly exposed. should I use zebras for that what percentage? any other suggestions to improve my videos underwater such as metering mode or -0.3 underexposing. thx again.
Hmm I’ve got zero experience with underwater video so I couldn’t advise as to a percentage for your zebras. However what you could do is a get a couple of test shots at different exposure levels and then check the ire of the background from the best exposed clip in editing, in theory you could match your zebras to that and bingo 😄👍🏻 btw i definitely would recommend against using the exposure meter, it’s so inaccurate/bad lol
unless I just happened to miss it it would have been much simpler and easier to understand if you just told us what numbers we should look out for on the multi metering thing. like in slog they say aim for 1.7 I'm honestly really confused on what you're talking about
I don't do that because that exposure meter is totally inaccurate and not at all designed for videography. Check out my video about it ua-cam.com/video/1xCzxlfZ5yQ/v-deo.html
No worries, you do you. But did you watch the video? I'd also recommend my video about zebras on the sony cameras as these are way more dependable than the exposure meter (plus I cover s-cinetone which may help you) ua-cam.com/video/5F0is5Ad_Hg/v-deo.html
@@HarvVideoAudioStuff did my research thank you, thank you. You said “the 2nd native iso is always 20x the first native iso” it just sound like someone heard that once and ran with it. But thank you lol. I’m now informed
I don’t understand what you mean, the higher native iso IS twenty times the base native iso. I said that because it applies to all modes in the a7s3 and happens to be true 🤷🏻♂️
Enjoy guys 👍🏻

Interesting!
Great video. I got Sony FX6. Had lots of problems grading sLog3. Going to try S-Cinetone
Totally agree with tweaking S-cinetone. Yes you can use it straight out of the camera, but the footage always looks better after a little work...
May I ask what does CRICA represent?? And what does it means by the %? and how do you adjust it? Thank you!
My exact same question. It's all very good saying 45%-55% but percent of what exactly?!
A 2022 UA-cam video with rock music in the background? There’s hope yet!!! 😀🥰
When you say 80% (or any %) are you using “Lower Limit”, “Standard Range”, or one of the preset Zebra levels?
bro i was so confused lmao glad to know im not the only one
Did you figure this out?

Is that an Axe-fx?🤩 great video!
Well spotted 😉
Skintone is number one 😎🤙
Agreed!

I wish I had seen this before my last video shoot, Lol. Great video ! Thank you so much ! Stay awesome!
Many thanks. Exactly what I wanted. Many thanks.👍🏻😊
hello harv in those kinda low light scenes like 5:16 minute, should I expose for the 18% middle gray ?
Does this apply to the a7iv s-cinetone?
Great tips!!
awesome bro
“Pasty Brit skin tones” 😂😂😂

My go to combo too 👍🏻
It’s not always 20%. A1 second base iso is 500.
Thanks,
I have 2 question
1. What Zebra setting for landscape and skin tones?
2. What Metering spot setting?
for Sony A6400 and A6500
Zebra Settings and metering mode? entire screen avg, multi, center, or highlight?
Hi, just to make sure I understood... Although S-cinetone only blows up at 109 (zebras), do you advise setting the zebras to +- 75? Thank you so much
What are the percentages referring to?
Exposure/luminance from 0-100 👍🏻
@@HarvVideoAudioStuff I noticed the scope after I commented lol. I thought maybe it was zebra levels
So if you put the sky at let's say 100% and then bring it down, is there no way to bring out the colors in the sky?
What codec did you use?
My a7iv s cinetone looks so green 😢

What do you mean by "exposed at 85%"? 85% of what? You put "Crica" onscreen but don't explain it and I can't find a definition from googling it.
Ah this is IRE, I did a video recently called videography terms which should explain 👍🏻
Is it cold in your studio? Does good content require a cap in England?
Yep, it’s cold and damp most of the time here! 🥶 I think this may have been partially a hair related headwear decision
55% of what?

Sony A7siii native iso is 640 and 12800. Not 100 and 2000
Check your facts, 640 and 12800 is for slog3. S-cinetone is 100 and 2000. The assumption that I wouldn’t know this is just 🤦🏻♂️
