I've been trying to recreate sand dunes for a long time, looking up for different resources to see how others achieve the dunes' shape, and yours is the best and most realistic and better looking approach. Awesome tutorial, thank you!
Very cool tutorial! I took the idea of a procedural desert landscape creation a little further and created a whole generator with which the user can create a desert in just a few clicks. Thanks for your inspiring videos!👏
Yes 3D Bossman!! Always so excited to see new tuts from you. Awesome set up here & Thanks for the discount code :)) I'd be miles behind where I am now without your courses. The SOM community has really helped me create a network of friends and colleagues. Thanks so much for all the knowledge you share with the motion design community. Procedural puggo for the next tut pls lol ;)
Logan thanks so much for kind words as always!!!! Appreciate you trusting me with your learning journey and its crazy how far youve gotten from zero 3d to rocking it in the world of Unreal! Proud of you, bruv!!!
EJ you have made such vast contributions to VFX artists' understanding of Cinema 4D that if the company has any merit and empathy, they should totally MJ Hassenfratz you into their hall of fame. Thanks a bunch for all your tuts across the years!
Great stuff as usual! I use both Redshift and Octane and the wavy lines part would have been so much easier in Octane. It has its own native pattern generator so there's no need to mess with those old C4D surface shaders and all that. Cheers, M.
That means a ton!!!! Hey maybe I'll finally learn Blender someday and you'll see me on the dark side of the force hehehe. AND MY TUTORIALS WILL BE FREE! :)
Alternatively you could use a plain effector on point mode? I like that method and use fields to alter the landscape. Is one method easier to use than the other?
You could use the Plain + Shader Field and load up the shader in point mode but you’d have to make sure you use a high poly mesh. Using a Bump Map allows you to make the waves without worrying about geometry density!
A Reference Node allows you to use the new node system and the C4D Shader. Also, a keyboard shortcut for Solo Node (I use Command+Return) can be really handy. Thank you! This is full of great techniques.
Reference Nodes are HUGE! I just hope that they port over the C4D Shader - otherwise you have to keep digging into multiple materials vs just the one with the old shader system which is why I opted to not use the Reference node route! And I agree with the short cut keys - another awesome benefit of the new node system is the easy solo buttons! Thanks for watching, Don!
EJ: Can you do the same scene without Redshift? Been using C4D since V6 and I have never needed any outside renderer. I only do product renderings for retail buyers. (Besides, I now have free Redshift with R26 but it confuses the heck out of me) PS: Your heat shrink cellophane video and your Object/Mesh Builder video are my go to reference for packaging.
Thanks Bruce glad my tutorials have been helpful! So for this you can use the native renderer since most of the work I did was with the C4D Tile shader. It’ll just be a lot slower to render in physical/ standard
@@eyedesyn I was told (by Maxon) that R26 Redshift is CPU only. So, it is inherently slow without its normal use of the GPU. I cannot afford to buy Redshift and really have never needed it for product renders. Just good enough for Walmart buyers to see what the product might look like.
Hey this might be delayed, but I found out that there is a Distorer node in redshift, which you can drive a tile texture into it and then in the distorter port pipe in a maxon texture then play with the amount!
As others mentioned, it’s free use the promo code! Unfortunately Gumroad makes me charge a price due to the files being over 200MB so this is my sneaky way around it!

Oh nice that's super awesome to hear thanks for watching and glad you found this helpful!!
Ahh yes, the perfect tutorial at the perfect time! Needed this, thanks homie.
Very welcome, brother!!!
I'm maya Redshift user. There aren't many tutorials with Redshift but I got a lot of ideas from your c4d tutorial.
That's awesome to hear that this can also apply to your Maya workflow!!
Looking great EJ!
Thanks Sam!! Much appreciated!
Fantastic tutorial! As always, I left with more knowledge than was promised in the title!
Glad you liked it! It's a bit beefy so thanks for sticking through it to the end hehe
you rock Ej , see you in c4a this session
Heck yeah can’t wait to see you in the Square!!!!
Very cool tutorial!

Oh super cool!!!
I love you. And I would've loved you more if you made octane tutorials as well. Please do them! 😭😭😭
I don’t use octane unfortunately! Maybe someday I’ll get back into it 😄

This tutorial is great, hope to see one created using C4D + Octane
I second this. Really want to see this as a Octane tutorial
If you check out the Mars Landscape tutorial in Octane on my channel you may find similar techniques that you may be able to use for this!
I just want to say one thing: Oh My God!!!!!
🙏🙏🙏🙏
Excellent techniques
Glad you enjoyed this one, thanks for watching!
THANK YOU EJ! Also, the C4D shader is full of magic so I really do hope they can optimize it for redshift. Imagine real time layer shaders 😲
I hope they port everything over! Thanks for watching!
@@eyedesyn did they port everything over?
VERY helpful for me as I'm just learning Redshift. Thank you for this!
Awesome Ben! Def reach out if you have any questions!!!

Wow thanks for such an amazing comment!!! Really appreciate your super kind comment! Appreciate your support!
I second you comment! EJ you are a gem of the 3d/motion community!
EJ JUST AMAZING🥰🥰
Helped greatly. Thank you!
Glad to hear it thanks!!!
missed u my guy.
Missed you to brother, youll be seeing more of me!
Thank you!

Oh nice thanks i didn’t know that Octane has it’s own pattern generator! What is the node called? I’d love to check it out!
@@eyedesyn It’s called Custom Pattern, it’s very well implemented and has great presets to have fun with. Cheers, M.
thank you!!!)
Thanks for watching!!!
nice tut! Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Even after have transitioned to Blender, I miss EJ videos. They are such easy to watch.
That means a ton!!!! Hey maybe I'll finally learn Blender someday and you'll see me on the dark side of the force hehehe. AND MY TUTORIALS WILL BE FREE! :)
That's why I didn't transitioned to Blender! C4D is perfect!
Thank you, I learned so much! And I hope they get the C4D material into the s26 material editor soon too!
Amazing tutorial.....thanks heaps mate!
Ur the best
You’re awesome! Thanks for watching!

nice work is in c4d
Can you please make a tutorial about water animation in cinema 4d
is it possible to have the same tuto for octane ? :)
you can also use one displacer with a layer shader to get stack noises, right?
Totally!

desperately looking for how to do this with native render or Arnold render, without using Redshift or other fancy plugins. ;(
arnold needs a maxon shader!
Its been a year, has Maxon ported the c4d shader node over yet? Could I create the material for the sand using the new redshift node system?

jesus that viewport render is so fast! what kind of GPUs are you running?
wow
Me gustaría con octaner 👍👍🥺
Check out our Mars Lanscape in Octane tutorial on this channel!
Hey EJ,
Is Octane faster now than Redshift for rendering?
-Nvidia GPU user here
Depends on how you use it but overall redshift is faster
did you undo the 1500 height? Im so confused.
No?
How can we do that with ARNOLD ????
I'm not sure if Arnold allows you to use C4D Shaders
@@eyedesyn Thank you for your reply ! please give us more tutorials with Arnold :)

intro music is a little loud in the mix, homie
Better designer than editor lol
Yeah those ai robots are getting scary...
Every image I see Midjourney make is nightmare fuel lol
The music is too loud, I can't hear you.
Buddy, there's no music in the video, must've been your own system
Sorry about that - I’ll try to mix the music better in the intro!
Omg how delicous this tutorial is
I wish to be rich in the future and gives you a lot of money for these cool tutos . U r just amazing 💪🤍
