Amazing tutorial Roots are set to Spline Vertex and Hair>Interpolation is set to Linear and "from guides" is set to 1. At least that worked well for me!
Hi Elizabeth, I revisited your awesome Abstract Flowers tut this a.m. and discovered a reliable workaround to the Hair Root count update problem, that does not involving scrubbing, randomly, until it chooses to cooperate ;) - If you bring the Guides / Root /Count down to 1 and then move back up to 170 or whatever, if refreshes in the viewport, in real time. FYI. Keep up the great work.
Me too ❤ her tutorials feel like about that she is taking ornament on her lovely dishes, it is cute and warm, I can taste that she is enjoying in it too
Cool tutorial per usual 🌟, I think the bug is related to auto-update and order of operations that's why apparently if you try enough it works, I'm not 100% sure but I came across something similar with the old dynamics system
@@TheFriendsOfMotion Awesome tutorial! Can you tell us if there is a specific reason why you switched from Octane to Redshift? still a little overwhelmed with which render engine to learn. Went with octane demo for now
@@normalrender I loved octane but since c4d bought redshift there are way more support, constant updates and it get’s better and better with each release. I feel octane you can get instant cool renders but to get it to the next level of realism redshift nodes are better- and now that I’m use to it I actually find nodes therapeutic like layers of paint on a canvas. Still think octane is way easier and quicker for a beginners but once you put in some hours with redshift , you can learn the basics in a few days and you will see how much it improve your looks …just my humble opinion but people might disagree
Your bucket size is 128 which is not good for this video card. You need 512 Then the render will be faster. And the task and performance manager will not show the load of the video core. Thank you for the lesson! Beautiful work
Hi henmi great question and I probably should have mention it😬. Use the feather object instead of hair(just under the hair icon in simulate tab). Move the helix underneath the feather as a child. To change the length of those hair go to feather tag object /spacing/barb length. Let me know if it works. I couldn’t figure out how to add the turbulence with feathers though. (Edit) I’ve made a video of this in my shorts
Thank you for the short video!! At present I couldn't find how to add the turbulence with feathers either. The way to do that seems to use xparticles. I'll try again some time. Temporary fix I've made is to add a sweep to the spline. Use surfaces as the base for the hair.
Really good question. I tried but it’s hard since the shape is not straight. There was a radius around the hair input that I think made a difference but unfortunately it’s not like soft body colliders…or at least I couldn’t figure it out, it might be possible.
@@TheFriendsOfMotion Thanks for quick reply! I thought i can't do it because of my lack of skills in C4D but seems like there is no way for it using just C4D. Probably, the only way is to use Houdini for this task ))
The checkbox "hair to hair" in forces tab seems to work pretty well tho Don't forget to put the same radius as the thickness you put on the hair basic texture :)
Great videos, really appreciate what you do. Just a tip you might wanna isolate your microphone a bit better. It’s a bit annoying to hear the vibrations of the keyboard coming in in the bass frequencies.
Thanks Mark, yes Im a total recording noob and had issues with setup. Got a new mic with my latest Pyro tutorial, would love to know if it sounds better. Always nice to get constructive criticism 👍😊
@@TheFriendsOfMotion yeah, that was the first video I watched of yours this morning, it does have a big boom sound every time you type on your keyboard or bump your desk. You need a shock mount or an arm to isolate vibrations for your microphone. Love the tutorials, you have an amazing talent!
is it posible to make hair growing by lenght by vertex map in redshift. It works for me in standart c4d render but i dont know how to make in in other rendeer...
Mmm , good question, since the length is dictated by the c4d hair tag I think you need to do it in that c4d tag but I don’t see a way to ad a vertex node anywhere. I’ll let you know if I figure it out or perhaps someone else can comment here if they know.
@@TheFriendsOfMotion thank you it will be very usefull, I was try to create this effect also with force gravity fall of. Ad it looks realy good in standart render. I know ho to create it in houdini, but C4d will be so much easier :) it is works in redshift or etc.. Maybe it need to create some nodes:) I gues
All the info you need is in the tutorial. I had the same problem but figured it out. Re watch the "Adding Hair" section. Copy their settings and make sure you have root set to "Spline Vertex".
I dont know why but when I open Redshift and start the render i cant see anything, if I start up octane instead, I cans see the hair, but changing the root and tip does not really change the size
Its a Redshift node, I'm not sure if you can get individual hair color data in physical render ...I had a quick a look and don't see an option but I'm not that familiar with Physical renderer , perhaps have you use the Mograph Color shader?
@@TheFriendsOfMotion hy, thanks for this amazing tutorial :) , im using r26 but no redshift , i think maybe that´s the problem , there´s no way to achieve the geometry with native render
i would pay good money for a pack of clips made from this, love the way those flowers look but i use blender to animate. if you have clips you are willing to sell please let me know
Both the project and the tutorial do not have normal and bump. In the promo video there are petals with roughness, how to put them on the hair material card?
Thanks for asking , i didn’t use normals or bump , the roughness was created in the hair shader it self, I think it’s the melanin / but I’ll have to go in again to refresh my memory. Can you send me an email please and I’ll help there 😊
Try to add more segments in the hair object . Then also click on the hair material and tweak the shape in the Thickness of the hair material. To add points in the shape control click and then play around with the curves to get a less tube-y shape. Let me know if its works and if you find a different solution
amazing thanks! In your first clip the thickest part of the hair looks very thin and whispy like a petal. How did you acheive this? @@TheFriendsOfMotion
@@CocoMonkeyTV I think that’s also in the hair material thickness shape. Add points to give you more control and start super flat for a few units before you taper it up. Let me know if it works. If not perhaps email me a screengrab what you would like to achieve
There is a way to create geometry from the hair but I don't think you can individually color the hair like with that redshift node. Unfortunately I do everything in Redshift and haven't explored much outside
