When I was in college, I taught swimming, and the professor told me she was adopted by the Old Mission Lighthouse keepers - Ferris was the only college in the nation that required students to be able to swim before graduating. 🙂

I just wanted to say as someone who was born and raised in Grand Traverse and Leelanau county. I recognized almost everything. We moved to North Carolina 11 years ago so it’s been a while since we have been there.
The winters there can get real rough and I told my husband that I suddenly am allergic to snow and we have to move. So we did.
But the area is so stunning. I do miss the fresh water lakes and the natural beauty up there. Thank you for capturing it.
Traverse City is my home town. This is a great video of the area. We have spent many summers sailing these waters. We can’t wait to get back up there! Summer of ‘25.

Really enjoyed watching this video. I was there 2 years ago at all these places. What a beautiful sunset in Sleeping Bear Dunes!!! I hope you and Michelle went to the 'Cove" in FIshtown. They had an awesome Cherry Pie to die for!!! Hoping Michelle didn't miss this one!

If you get back to the area there is a beautiful little Michigan State Park just north of Manistee called Orchard Beach State Park with stunning sunsets over Lake Michigan.

Great reminder for us through your visit to the area. We couldn't remember where the beach was until you walked to it at the lighthouse. We both said at the same time, that is the beach with the rocks in it! We were there when our kids were small. We are now inspired to go back to experience it all over again. Hope you stopped in Onekama and Portage Lake on your way south, one of our favorite places. Last time we were up there, we stayed at Little River Casino for a couple of nights. Nice RV park.

We were just at all the spots you were! Not the jolly pumpkin tho. And the fish town was packed, we couldn't get our Beyond in anywhere. Next time! We went to a great winery, owned by the oak island people, and a wonderful cheese shop.

5 years ago today my Michelle and I were married down the street from the Jolly pumpkin at a different restaurant on the beach.
We had our pictures taken at the Old Mission light house and one of the wineries.
I droned the lighthouse before they banned such fun things.
Lots of awesome memories of the area.
LOL, it is not "trah-Verse", like traverse a mountain path. As a Michigander, its TRAAAAAAAAAA (like travel) Traverse. Different emphasis on the A. Same A as Travel, but verse at the end. Cmon now... Hope you tried Walleye while up there. Best fish imo. Nothing like the U P in Mich. In summer and fall anyways.
😂 The funny thing is, we know but I keep saying it incorrectly. The funnier part is how much it bothers a few. 🤣
Walleye is a delicious freshwater fish. Lake whitefish is very fishy tasting.

I’m 100% ok with how you pronounce Traverse. Some of us Michiganders forget that our Charlotte MI is pronounced very differently from Charlotte NC and they’re both correct

I don’t know how many times I’ve said that before but we absolutely love your videos. This video put tears in my eyes as we visit the exact places every time we are in Traverse City. Hubby loves Michigan and would love to go back again but I’d say let’s go somewhere else. After seeing your video which brought back some beautiful memories we decided to put Traverse back on our list.
I know you can’t cover everything in a short video but there is a beautiful winery and inn Chateau Chantal located on the Mission Peninsula with beautiful views and great wine.
We’ve been around Lake Michigan about 4 or 5 times already and every time we go we find something new. Greenfield Village is a must if you didn’t go. One town we always miss is Frankenmuth so next time we venture out we need to include it in our itinerary. Our neighbors are going there in December and that’s probably the best time to go. Maybe we can plan something for that time too.

You can walk the shoreline to a spot , Glen Haven Beach,where you can be picked up but it is then a far walk back to your car so leave a driver on top just in case.

This was so beautiful. In the first 7-8 minutes, was there a different camera, lens, or person doing the videography? It seemed like a different style. I enjoyed it either way. There was some breathtaking beauty, for sure. That ice cream looked yummy. That must have been one big kid they named the "kid-sized" dish after.

Yes. We’ve been very happy with the length mainly to gain the closet and extra storage.
Probably too late, but MI City IN has a gluten free restaurant w/fried fish & chicken. Delicious! Fiddlehead Restaurant.

We do pretty well with parking. It depends on where you are. As mentioned in many of our videos, we can park in a normal spot as long as the back end can hang over the curb. In Florida, they love to put shrubs right behind the curb which makes it more difficult. However, we usually find another spot or take up a double spot. They are very well built and have not had any major issues. We have 2 1/2 years of videos living in the Grech Strada-ion that you can go back and watch that may help you feel more confident in your purchase.
Pronounce the "S" as a "Z" and you have it. Tra'verze City, That's how the Michiganders say it.
Like others said, please learn to say Traverse City correctly.
