So happy with Slaf's deal! Especially showing the cap structure we are working with, Suzuki, Caufield and now Slaf are all around 7.4-7.6 mill for 8 years!!!
The only problem i got with Juraj Slafkovskỳ contract is i dont know if he will be still on Montréal first line in couple when Ivan Demidov became the First Line Right winger and replace Juraj Slafkovskỳ 7,6 is kind of rich for a second line winger. Love the Slaf deal , during his prime years he will be making an equivalent of 5 or 6 million dollars on todays cap. Has potential to be a top 5 contract in the entire league. Another note, even WORST CASE SCENARIO in a PLD esq situation. The buyout is very digestable. This is a huge win for us.
Homiest of homer takes on Max Domi...you're own basis was that the player should make the team better and fit what they are trying to do. Max Domi changes nothing for the Leafs, he was already a leaf, he does not move the needle in terms of their playoff scoring. I think the signing is ok, but it's not going to change their outlook nearly as much as tanev.
What about Reinhart re-signing with Florida for under $9m after a 50+ goal season and a Stanley Cup? If that was Toronto and he had that regular season and Leafs still lost first round, based on precedent he would get a long term extention at $12m AAV.
1. Juraj Slafkovský staying in Montreal; 8 years, 7.6M AAV 2. Max Domi staying in Toronto; 4 years, 3.75M AAV 3. Brett Pesce to New Jersey; 6 years, 5.5M AAV 4. Jake DeBrusk to Vancouver; 7 years, 5.5M AAV 5. Steven Stamkos to Nashville; 4 years, 8M AAV
I don't see the Stamkos contract as good. His best days are behind him. Age 35 to 38 what are you getting? Domi at almost 4 mil per for 4 years should not be on this list. Time will tell.
I mean he had 40 goals in his 34 year season? Not playing with a Kucherov type player, but forsberg, oreilly, nyquist, josi, i mean Jesus. That power play sounds a little scary. All 5 players can make someone look silly at any time. They added Marsch, they added a couple more depth players on top of evange, sissons and the bottom line. Still have one of the better d-man cores in the league. And a top 3 goalie at his best, top 10 at his worst ha
Hey Jesse , If Domi’s deal is great then what about the 1 player you forgot who had a better season than domi and was re-signed for a lot less 1year/ 2.5 million Drouin? If Doni is the 2nd best deal then the Drouin deal steps in between #1and #2 , a top 6 winger not a middle 6 for 2.5,,, the leafs signing was good but the Avs one was even better
I seem to recall Max Domi badmouthing the Leafs when he signed with Montréal, about how Montréal was better, how he hated the Leafs with all his heart. Like, I know being a Leafs-fan is all about self-inflicted pain, but is a player who was born to be a Leaf supposed to hate it so much?
Stamkos is a good player and great scorer. I wouldn’t have picked Nashville but maybe he wanted to stay in the warm, no state tax markets. If winning is number 1 he had better places to go. Still he is on a competitive team in a nice all around city, it’s warm and it’s to country music what Atlanta is to hip hop or Hollywood is to film
The only thing I like about the Stamkos deal is that it is only 4 years. I'm not sure he improves Nashville enough for 8 million per season. I hope I'm wrong.
I'm curious why you thought Montreal was trying to get Stamkos. Montreal is still years away from being a steady playoff team, there is no reason to go out of your way to bring an older guy into the young core they have. Maybe in a few years
That Reinhart deal is horrific. 9 milli9n for a dude rhat fkuked out for one season. He's a 30 goal man at best. It's a horrific deal, and when he doesn't break 35 goals ever again, it's going to be crippling. Never broke 100 points jn his career and is nowhere near a PPG player lol.
Oof I'm leery of Debrusk. He's 27 and his career high is 50 points. Hope it works out. Domi got $3.75 million for his 9 goals. Of course he wants to stick around. No one else is giving him $3.75 million. Goodness. Hope he scores 10 next year.
Avalanche is nowhere to be found, despite us losing Landeskog(?), Nichushkin (amongst others) and we need a really good goalie to compete with Georgiev.. Only signed AHL-players plus a decaying De Haan… Re-signed Drouin but will he deliver? Has a history of not giving a f-k before, just saying
Happy to see DeBrusk go. He is a player that needs elite players around him to flourish. He will be a drain, and a point of frustration for Canuck fans. Sorry guys.
@@zachhaist6426 Tocchet is not gonna be a fan of moody DeBrusk. I think DeBrusk lightened up is because the B's treated him with kid gloves. Tocchet is a different animal. This may turn into a slow project.
@@tor2886 DeBrusk is around more talent now? I don't think so. It may take him two years just to get comfortable. I cannot imagine him hitting the ice and lighting it up right away...or at all. Very streaky but he can't maintain. Again, I hope he proves me wrong. 7 years tho for him...yikes.

Montreal did what the leafs should’ve done with Mitch, Willie and Hyman (Matthews is a different beast). 8x8, 8x7 & 8x5 sure would’ve looked good.

He signed the contract before he was a free Agent so it didnt count. But it is a really good contract
Also worth stating that his contract is worth ~11million outside of Florida so he was paid at a fair market rate once you factor in taxes.
No track record of 50 goals, if he had done it once or twice before this season he'd be making over 10 million.
That was the most no state income tax contract in NHL history
@@khazraknotreal7224That’s why no tax states vs tax states need to be fixed…
It’s essentially “free” cap space
What? They didnt offer Slaf $11.5m/yr like certain other teams would?

Fun fact: Tennessee is a no tax State, same as Florida.

Stamkos.......I had Detroit, NYR and Utah as my destinations for Stammers.
Devils are looking good, just need to stay healthy.
Preds will find a way to become mid as they always do.
Totally agree with Slaf deal being amazing. I would have added the Reinhart contract in the top 5 tho.

Because st Louis is the coach

Reinhart for that contract is a huge discount , should be 1st .

Canucks need goal scorers though and he’s put up 27 twice with Good health Pettersen or Miller I could see him break 30 goals, 60 points
