We're of similar minds. The only players you had on your list that I don't have on mine are Petterson and Eichel. I also don't have Hedman or Miller, with Hellebuyck and Marner in their place
@@ImJustHereToWatch14 Very nice, Marner was definitely one of the first names outside 25 for me, Hellebuyck was bit more futher down. I don't know why people still have Hedman so high, he has had a couple of down years, especially on the defensive side
Luca pick that he doesn’t have on the list that should be there next year… well to me it’s obvious Elias Pettersson, Luca said it was because he disappeared in the end of the season and playoff well it’s not easy to play with a injury.. he had a knee injury since January… still went top 20 in points top 25 in goals and top 25 in assist.. and that is brutal when he wasn’t feeling well for basically half the season…
Its more insane he didn't have Jt miller who has been top 10 in points over the past 5 seasons and was insane defensively this year.. He only had 1 player from a team who went 7 games against a cup final team and were one of the best teams for a majority of last season.
Barkov is one of the reasons Kucherov had 0 goals in 5 games, Pastrnak had one goal in 6 games, Panarin had one goal in 6 games, and Mcdavid remained scoreless in games 1,2,6, and 7. Those are 4 of the top 5 scorers of the season. Let's not forget Marchand was held to 0 goals, Kreider/Zibanejed/Fox all together were held to one goal, and Draisatl/Hyman/RNH/Bouchard had less than 3 goals altogether in 7 games. Barkov is a 2x Selke winner that is on 5 separate lines. 1st line, power play 1 line, penalty kill 1 line, 4 on 4 1 line, and 3 on 3 line. He's capable of shutting down every team's top scores while being a ppg player. He should be in the top 5 in my opinion. Mcdavid, Draisatl, MacKinnon, Kucherov, and Barkov. I can see him being in a top 10 at least but anything past that is wild to me.
quinn hughes was a top 2 penalty killer for the canucks and arguably the most trusted defenseman under tocchet, people still see his defensive ability as when he was a rookie forgetting that with his offensive game developing so is his defensive
I love the number of comments sticking up for Barkov here. If people want to stop hearing about Barkov being underrated then stop fucking underrating him! He JUST won the Selke for the second time and was the best player and captain on a team that JUST won the Cup. Honestly, what more do you need??!!
Really appreciated the words at the end, both because of the support for the Gaudreau families, but also the strong message that this was preventable and to never drink and drive.
Made my own list. The biggest leftoff names here that I had were Hellebucyk at 11, Shesterkin at 19, Heiskanen at 14, and McAvoy at 21, all defensive players. Of my deviations where a player was listed on all four lists, my biggest underrateds were Barkov at 8, Fox at 9, and Josi at 15. Of my overrateds, I left off Nylander, Miller, Hedman, and Petterson. Of the ones I still included, I had Jack Hughes at 25, Kaprizov at 23, Rantanen at 18, and Matt Tkachuk at 16. Seems to me like I value the defensive side of the puck a little more than the BD crew. Reviewing my picks (which I did off the top of my head and re-ordered, for the most part) after the video, I would like to move Jack Hughes, Matt Tkachuk, and Rantanen up, while moving Hellebucyk and Point down. As for add-ons, I'd like to get Miller on, but I'm not particularly enthusiastic to drop anyone. Other than Jack Hughes, Aho and Kaprizov are last on my list, but the best I'd give Miller against them is a push.

I’m gonna sound like a canucks homer, maybe I am, but I got a few points. First about JT Miller, I’m fine with Marner being over him. I also think they are pretty equal, but if defense is your biggest decider I’m sorry. JT played a shutdown role against top lines the entire season and was arguably the canucks’ best defensive forward for that reason. Quinn Hughes can play on the pk. He did regularly for a long time a few seasons ago when the canucks had no other defenders. Now he is still playing over 24 min per game without playing pk, not because he’s bad now, because he is more valuable in other situations. That’s my piece. Great video
I’m not disagreeing that there are some bad takes here but I swear some of you don’t realize just how talented the NHL is right now. Like just the oilers and the Avs produce 5 top 25 players alone (McDavid, MacKinnon, Rantanen, Draisaitl, Makar), debatably 6 if you’re really high on Bouchard. That’s 1/5 of the entire list on two teams and the vast majority of teams have insane amounts of talent. Like you could make the argument as a stars fan that Miro and Robertson are top 25. Leafs fans will try and argue for Matthews, Marner and Nylander (hard disagree but that’s just me). Florida fans will push for Tkachuk, Barkov, heard some pushing for Rienhart.
I don't know why people still have Hedman so high, he has had a couple of down years, especially on the defensive side
you know ball (puck)
Everyone who has Barkov on their 25-16 is wrong already
Barkov at 25, when he’s a top 3 two-way player in the league, is wild
Top 1*
he's literally the best two-way player. won a selke for it AND a stanley cup
I’d argue he has been the best 2-way player for the last few seasons with only Bergeron contending when he was playing.
after the cup, he is just clearly the best two way imo
"Barkov isnt underrated anymore" these clowns put him outside top 20, just shows how little they know about hockey
When that question was asked i was waiting for the slaf shoutout haha 🙏💪
As a flames fan it is painful to see names like Adam Fox and Matthew Tkachuk in the top 15
Stutzle should be on this list
good to see the Canucks disrespect is still here : l
Sooo pumped for the podcast to be back!! Made my Monday
Next time you guys do these lists, you should average them all out, might be fun or interesting to see the overall top 50
No miller OR pettersson after the season the Canucks just had is crazy
RIP Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau.
Candidates for top 25 next season are Bedard, Stutzle, and Johnston.
I like Stutzle in that conversation more than Slafkovsky, that's for sure.
@@joshuatinney4712Slaf did look great last season. I think he could get there in 2 seasons.

Unless its a Top 25 in Olympic diving Stutzle's name should never come up. Bedard's almost a lock... be cool to see how quickly Celebrini comes on.... Seider's on my list already maybe.
@@KS-xk2so Stutzle is really good. I think he could be top 25 soon if last season was just a down year, and not what we're going to see from now on. He is a diver though.

It’s bizarre to me that people rate Matthew’s ahead of Draisaitl. Matthew’s greatest generational ability right now is his ability to consistently choke in playoffs. Draisaitl is a playoff beast.
Panarin getting respect kinda crazy
So classy putting the Gaudreaus at #13. 💙 Nicely done BarDown crew
As a canucks fan the fact i listen to Luca's spotify NHL playlists now disgusts me
Robert Thomas over barkov?!? I honestly don’t know what to say other than that being blatantly wrong. It’s not even subjective
Kucherov is a future hall of famer that has broken records for wingers in back to back years having him anywhere but second behind Mcdavid is criminal. He is on pace to be the highest scoring winger of all time but sure 6th best in the league smh
he literally stated, its not only about point production, his defensive skills and implication are very questionable, i wouldnt even have him in my top 5.
Taking Kuch over anyone else personally. Go Bolts!
@@WiTTeNxI love this myth that he can't defend just because he's on the ice for empty net goals against. 😂🫵

That slaf prediction is insanely bold but if he’s right and he has rantanen trajectory then he’ll look like a genius
slafkovsky has everything to be a top 30 player in the league in the future. but i strongly believe Nick Suzuki shouldve been in the wild card discussion, he does everything right on the ice, plays every PP, PK, has yet to miss a single NHL game, his hockey IQ is off the chart hes such a smart player.
I like the Slaf pick for the possible upcomer to 25 next year. Hot take Alexis LaFreniere top 25 shortly. " Some guys just flip a switch and figure it out" what he did in the playoffs was incredible.
Quinn is legit one of the best d-man on the PK for Canucks and Cale is amazing. We are lucky they are both in his league at the same time.
Jesus, WTF, Barkov 25th??? Should be at least top 6
10 RNH 9 . Connor Hellebuyck 8 Stuart Skinner 7. Darnell Nurse 6. Crosby 5. Ovechkin 4. Nathan McKinnon 3. Leon Draisaitl 2. McDavid 1. Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau

Also, I know Luca is a wrestling fan, and I'm sure he would've liked to bring up the way WWE mentioning Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau on their live tv programming when they were at the saddledome and Jackie Redmond walking outside the tributes on the steps. Just an absolutely devasting tragic event, We love Johnny and Matthew, Rest in Peace.
Everybody clowning Jesse for name-dropping. If I worked at a job where I got to meet and work with NHL players I'd be a name-droppin' machine gun
Just need to say this, no one calls him Alex Barkov. It's either Aleksander, or Sasha. Period.
Get used to it, they've been calling Ovechkin the same for years. Sad.
With everyone's #13 taken, should have done Top 26 players.
That would literally defeat the purpose of honoring them on the list.

@Hockey99. Thats his own opinion
@@patriksodin9349 do you think it’s a good list
I swear, there are at least 50 top 25 players in the NHL
Met Matty a few times in his echl debut and subsequent seasons, he wore #8 originally, and his sophomore season he changed to #21, the number he used in BC, he showed genuine flashes of brilliance. I have his jersey hanging up (along with a Johnny G flames shirt) hanging up in remembrance for them
Love the final thoughts on the Gaudreau's. Don't drink and drive. It's never worth it.
Great video
Lol idc what anyone says Barkov is absolutely a top 10 play in the NHL

TLDR: there’s like 50 guys you could debate belong on this list rn
Just to check.... you'd have Matthews in your Top 25, right? Just wanted to ensure you aren't that ridiculous lol
@@KS-xk2so Matthews is for sure top 25, he’s top 10 and probably even top 5. Marner and nylander shouldn’t be in those lists though. I can see the argument for marner but his playoff accomplishments (or lack there of) keeps him off my personal list
@@MWNolan I'd maybe have Mitch in my 20-25 area... but Nylander isn't close. He'd crack my Top 40 maybe
@@KS-xk2so Marner produces like a top 25 player but he’s so one dimensional and his play style doesn’t mesh well with the playoffs. If Matthews was taken off the maple leafs and put on, say San Jose, he’d still be a top 10 player in the league putting up damn near 100 points. If marner was on the sharks I’m not confident he’d be above a PPG, he’s just not the type of player to elevate those around him, he’s not built to be “the guy” and he’s not good enough in the playoffs
@@MWNolan You either don't watch much Leafs hockey, or you just know shit about the sport. Calling Marner one dimensional is absurd. The guy is great going both ways and is one of the Leafs top penalty killers. His edge work makes him an excellent defender. He literally runs the Leafs PP and is one of the premiere play makers in the game. You put him with any halfway decents snipers, those snipers will score 35 minimum. The one year Marner played full time with Tavares was his highest scoring year BY FAR, with 47 goals. I agree his game doesn't translate well to post season, but most of what you said was just flat out incorrect.
