A small thing I might have just missed that I think you didn't mention: if you want to select a group of identical units, you can ctrl-double lmb. It's faster than selecting them with shift. It selects all identical units to the one you clicked on. Pretty helpful if you for example want to get all lancers when you have an assisting army you can control, so they're not bunched together on the army tab.
I love videos like this they teach you so much. This game is massively complex and it's so easy to miss something or not realize a mistake. If you have any sort of combat tactic guides I'd love to watch them
Thanks for the help, my friend. This is a subject I have struggled with and I think this is going to help me out quite a bit. No one can pack every tip into one video without it becoming intimidating in terms of length and demanding in terms of time spent watching it. It is hard to retain much of it if it is too long anyway. This is short, basic, and very helpful. That is the idea. Thanks again!!! Cheers
I've been trying to find that alt command for ages sir thank you just earned yourself a sub and I'm now going to watch the rest of the video for more things I might not have none. Nice to hear another British accent if my ears done deceive me. All the best Morphling
A really useful and well explained tutorial. I was struggling with TW:W and I may now be able to control my armies on the BF without swearing and rage-quitting :)
Shock attacks with a faction that is for mobility is great so selecting your skirmish calvery at once sending them down each sides of the battlefield is use full when moving your forces forward towards the enemy
Nice little tutorial, Just started playing Total War: Warhammer, i have played some of the Total War games before, but i have never been fond of the battles before cause im bad and i have never wanted to get good at it so i auto resolved a lot. but now that i can enjoy some warhammer action up close i want to get good ^^ so thanks for this video i learned a lot.
Your first PC game was Attila? 😗 Damn, that's rough. I mean, Attila is hard enough as a Total War game, but as your very first PC game? Anyways, Attila is actually my first Total War game too. 😂😂 It's actually the ONLY Total War I've played. I'm new to the Series. Play as the Sassanids on Easy mode. It'll ease you into the game.
I know this video is from several years ago, but I really want to know how to advance army units in a curved line? (When you click to move they go forward in a straight line, I want them to go around and steer them in a crouch)
I am struggling with camera angles for Fall of Samurai. I like the opening camera angle. But I usually press a key I don't mean to and I end up zooming in. I don't know how to zoom back out. I would be very appreciate if someone could help me.
How do you rotate the camera like you were? Im using WASD to move it forward and back and side to side, but I cant figure out how to actually rotate the camera. And for some odd reason, the game sometimes rotates the camera without me doing anything
In Attila... hmmm. Maybe Q & E. I usually use the middle mouse button held down, kind of lets you look around. If you scroll your mouse to the edge of the screen it can move it also.
3:56 that does not work for me? Did you just right click or did you hold down anything else too? Whenever I do that the whole line just attacks the unit in the middle that I right clicked.
Can someone help me out? I accidentally hit a key (I don't know which) and now on the Campaign Map (not Battle Map) my units are running around like the Roadrunner! Does anyone know how to undo this?
Ok. so Newb question. I learned on Warhammer 1 and 2. You basically just demonstrated that I can play Attila by using all the controls I am familiar with. What I need to know is how are the controls in ROme 2? Are they like this? Cause I bought Shogun 2 recently and I freakin hate the controls and decided I just can't play it. It would take 100 hours of play before I get out of the habit of doing the stuff from the warhammer games that I am comfortable with and I dont have it in me. Rome 2 is still like $60 on steam. Can someone give me a heads up if the formation movement works in Rome 2 like this ^^^^^ or is it more like Shogun 2? Basically... all I really need is the hold ALT and CTRL to move my units without fucking up the formation and being able to rotate them. If it has that I am game.
It's similar but there are differences. For example you can move your entire army in Rome 2 with just holding the LMB and dragging your selected units. Which is the same as holding ALT and LMB drag in Warhammer. I don't think it's too different from Attila but, haven't properly played it in a while!
Its crazy, when I discovered this series my initial reaction was... I HAVE TO PLAY ALL OF THEM. Sadly I didn't consider that there would be this many drastic differences with the older ones. I figured it would be mostly graphical downgrades. Hell most people online talk as if each new title has less content than the last. No one ever mentions controls AT ALL. I would think it would be more important and a bigger topic of conversation.

thanks! this helped me not refund this game
+Schon Fazio haha!
I played the game for like 2 years without this. Thank you so much.

I'll be doing some for Warhammer but they'll apply to other Total Wars too.

Thanks bro. I try my best to make things clear and no nonsense. Appreciate your words!

Now I'm not sure about the British accent as I continue hmmm ur are a mystery
Good content ! Most of it already knew, but the way you explained strategy made this very helpful ;)
I just started playing Attila after playing around 40 hours of the Manor Lords demo.
I hope you're doing well :) Thanks for this

Excellent work, so simply and elagantly presented yet chocked full of usuable stuff, well done and ty!👍

Glad I can help man. I'll be dropping some other tutorials on Campaigns and Battles soon!
Excellent basics video. You should do one about hammer and anvil, basic flanking, y'know, Army 101 stuff.
Works for almost all Total War games, playing Warhammer and Three Kingdoms now.
this made me won alot more battlesXD
the best tutorial i have seen!!!!
Well shit! Thanks!
Wow thanks.. of course you could tell that the commands are in part or in great part based on the same windows functioning short cut logic.
you forgot to mention hold shift + rmb + drag to create way point or path for unit to move
+X Thao I knowww. It annoys me to this day haha. I'll have to add a note.
+Zerkovich I really want to know more of the controls though keep it up with the video!
I still like the left click+old drag method
A very nice & easy guide. Keep it up bro!!!

what about that one move where you can curve the yellow arrow? and it helps you flak better. I know I sucked at trying to explaining it
+skullshock96 CRAAAAAP, I knew I'd forget something. I believe it's CTRL + RMB to drag a custom route.
I really wish I watched this before I started playing and got obliterated and lost two cities. My first PC game too, what was I thinking! Hahaha
Live ya learn! Especially in Total War!

very useful thanks
Great Video! This is exactly I was searching for. Thanks! Another question. Do you have any bad experiences in using ultra large units?
Hmmm not personally.
And thanks! :D
I know this video is from several years ago, but I really want to know how to advance army units in a curved line? (When you click to move they go forward in a straight line, I want them to go around and steer them in a crouch)
THHAAAAAAANNNNK YOU!!!!

will these controls be the same in total war warhammer?
Yes they are!
Any way to make controlls like it was in total war rome 2 ?????????

Delta late reply but did you group them? It didn't work for me either until I noticed that
6:44 "gaping holes" the dark side of porn :(
Is there any mod than allow me to use "Ai Group Atack" in siege battles? They got the stupid idea of removing it.. :/
How does it work on Mac? Thanks bro
Can someone help me out? I accidentally hit a key (I don't know which) and now on the Campaign Map (not Battle Map) my units are running around like the Roadrunner! Does anyone know how to undo this?
Sounds like you changed the game speed.Try the speed buttons by the map. Or press T.
Where is the speed button for the campaign map? One of the bottom corners?
unit cards ? what mod are you using ?
+matt degroot Uhhhh none man! These were the original cards.
Is there really no guard mode?
Hey, can you pls tell me how to manually shoot artillery?
Press 'Insert'
Zerkovich Thank you! :)

Nope! Have fun with all your wandering units.
