    Done!!! 4.5hrs for completion. I want to thank you guys for this great instructional video. For the most part all you need is basic tool. Before you start however make sure you have a 6mm and 8mm Allen wrench socket for the crank pulley and the tensioner pulley.

    You should make a troubleshooting video, so if someone's car is out of time and happened to skip a tooth before doing the repair, they can put everything back in correct timing. :)

    I'm fixing to get into a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta, 1.8 T. I'm down to the crank pulley and it not a 6mm allen head. It's a torx bit, and 6mms is definitely not the right size... Can anyone help me with this? Cause I tried to break it loose with the closest torx I had to fit it. I've not rounded out anything, but could someone tell me what size it's supposed to be?

    What if, during your installation with the belt off, you move a sprocket by accident? eg. you are trying to put the belt on from the bottom, but it's so tight at the top that you accidentally move the crank sprocket left a bit. What then? Is it ok to just take the belt off and rotate the crank sprocket right until the markings at the crank align?

    • @Canal8888x

      if you change position1 teeth that will be a problem. dont take risks, remove belt and align again to the marks before apply the new belt

    Wish you showed video of actual belt being dressed over idler, water pump and crank. Thats the tricky part, dressing the belt while maintaining TDC marks on cam and crank. Otherwise great video, and you noted its a 4 crank engine so if belt on correctly then easily hand turn crank 4 times and if no resistance felt (valve hitting head) then your good. If resistance is felt, that means valve is touching piston dome.

      @jamesschulte5278 6 років тому +1

      I realize this was 5 months ago, but if you watch the video, and I've watched a lot, there a little stub on the bottom pulley that should point or line up with the bolt hole, if that makes any sense. Pause it at 16:23, and look at the bottom right of the gear, you'll see the little stub I'm talking about, that lines up with the bolt hole over to the right of it.

    • @jamesschulte5278
      @jamesschulte5278 6 років тому

      As long as your cam gear is at TDC at the top, and that is lined up on the bottom, you should be pretty set. Otherwise you'd need to put the cover back on, as well as the second cover, and make sure they're aligned together as well. Which they should be if these parts are lined up, it'll only really fit one way, then re mark your mark on the bottom.

  • @BIGGLENNGODSSOULJA
    @BIGGLENNGODSSOULJA 6 років тому

    If u got over when lining up at the top can u spin it for a second time to line correctly at the top

    Les lettres sur la courroie doivent en principe être lues à l'endroit. Et il vaut mieux prendre des repères sur la courroie à changer, et les reporter sur la courroie neuve, car parfois on se trompe de une dent en faisant tendre la courroie.
    Même distribution que sur le moteur AUQ des Audi TT 1.8.
    Bien nettoyer avant de monter la pompe à eau neuve.
