Much appreciated. I also opened my steel cupboard in the garage to find five red lights staring at me. Scary - until I viewed your excellent video. Thank you.
Thanks. I was flipping out and thought this thing was going to explode or something. I feel better because of this video. Thank you. Ego should really put this in front of the owners manual so everybody can see about it.
Good info man! I just got home and seen this and freaked out. I've had my battery for 3 years, but now I know that everything is going to be fine. Love my EGO!
Thank you very much for investigating the flashing red light situation and explaining it! I called the Ego help number and waited for over an hour and finally hung up. I guess I should have read the manual (when all else fails). I was worried about what if meant and also was afraid of a house fire. I will subscribe to your channel.
thank for the video, i got that red light today and was worried something was going wrong with my stored batteries. Im glad its nothing more then the battery tech protecting itself.
Thanks for the video. I was freaking out - I rotate and store off the charger but need a one day a month to charge. Yes red/warm fire because I keep them inside to avoid excessive heat and moisture.
Thank you sooo much for this. I have 6 of these batteries in the garage on a shelf and 1 of them just started to do the same thing after a month of storage or so. Would be all of them or at least two, but only one, I was worried. Like you, I freaked out because of the warm to the touch!!! They should also add in the user manual something about this red light lighting up for 10 seconds or so periodically, that would have helped to attribute the symptom to the root cause. God bless you for sharing this on youtube!
Indeed, great information! I've recently hired a lawn guy because work has been brutal so my batteries have sat awhile. Now, I know why the charge goes down so much after that time. Thanks! :)
THE BANG TRICK WORKED .SO glad I saw the comments about banging the battery from about a foot off the ground and dropping it. IT WORKED I had THREE bad batteries. ALL THREE have been working GREAT since May and I recharge and use the OFTEN. HOLY GUACAMOLE. Those three bad ones were here for over a year. I bought two news ones for 200 bucks a piece but something told me NOT to throw those bad ones out. THREE bad batteries now working PERFECTLY for five months with CONSTANT charging. I have the lawn mower, leaf blower and snow blower and I use the blower daily and the lawn mower once per week. HUGE area. SO glad I was the comments about BANGING the batteries. If you leave these batteries on the charger, they will also self-maintain themselves like this. If they have been on the charger and are showing fully charged and have been on the charger between uses, when you use them they will only last a short period of time before they need to be recharged. I started putting the chargers on a smart plug so that I could turn them on so they will charge and be ready to go when I was ready to use them.
Thanks so much for the info. Ours was flashing and hot last night and had us scared. My husband set it in the driveway overnight just in case. Guess it is headed to the charger now. Your pupper is adorable. I was going to give you a thumbs up anyhow but that sweet wagging tail sealed the deal. :)
Hey, thank you so much first of all and our dog passed away last July but we did end up getting a new one late. June this year she’s almost 5 months now her name is sunshine, but she’s a firecracker just so you’ll know. Anyway I’m glad the video helped you.
@@TechMadeEzy I'm sorry for the loss of your furry pal and hope that Sunshine is helping to heal your heart. Thanks again for the info in this video. After charging the battery, it seems back to normal.
happened to me today and I have had mine about 2 years freaked me out until I saw your video I was about to call them thankyou so mush for sharing this
Wow, thank you....I noticed this last Winter, I had my batteries fully charged, and had placed them in my closet. I opened the door to get something, and I saw one of the batteries doing this, and when I pushed the button, all of the bars lit up...I never thought anything about it. Then the other day, I noticed one of the batteries doing the same thing, sitting where I keep them. It felt warm when I touched it. I almost called EGO but didn't. I have two 5ah batteries, a 7.5ah, and a 2.5 ah.....I usually use the 7.5 the most, in all my EGO tools, so I guess the 5.9 that was red, hadn't been used for a while.....Great Tips on charging and maintenance. I guess sometimes it really pays to read the manuals that come with products, LOL
I had a NEW EGO 5Ahr battery give me the "red eye" when I woke up to fix my dinner prior to going to work for a mid work shift.Earlier that evening a VIOLENT thunder-lightening storm passed thru my area. The battery affected was not connected to anything and was full charge. So I put it in the Ego chrager and the battery "reset" itself. The end of the battery with the status light was warm.Figure that has the "bleeder" resistors that do the self maintenance.Guess the storm somehow tripped the battery to maintenance mode. The battery is less than a month old from Lowes.Came with my leafblower. After I reset it in the charger-it worked my Ego area lamp just fine-and even ran it at 6400Lm for about 2hrs!The Ego lamp is one of my "star" lights in my flashlight and portable battery light collection.Next is my Polarion light-this is like a handheld card HID headlight you can hold in your hand! I do store my batteries inside along with my other recharrgeable batteries. Now I have several Ego battery packs-4 for the ride mower and 1 each for the Ego hand mowers and one for the Ego leaf blower.
Yup very true... "Depending on the battery charge, it will automatically perform a self-discharge operation after one month of storage. After this self-maintenance, the battery pack will enter sleep mode and maintain 30% of its charge capacity. If stored for a month or longer, fully recharge the battery before the next use." - EGO Power Plus
Now, what should you do @mboiko if after doing your steps- I will not use the battery yet, should I still charge it? or just wait for battery to self-discharge? thanks
I found my way to this video just now after finding my battery stored inside for the winter doing this, freaking out, and Googling it. Lol. I've owned Ego products for 6 years and knew about the self maintenance function - but never noticed the red lights and warmth. It would be nice if the manual mentioned to expect this behavior when it's doing self maintenance. I thought it was about to blow up!
Very good tips. BTW I also use the EGO battery on my diy ebike. (Just make sure you do your home work before putting it on a bike, and make sure it is secure from both vibration and theft.)
Excellent video. Thank you. Question: EGO was offering a deal when you purchase a self propelled mower. Mower came with a 7.5 AH battery and a 5.0 AH battery free. Can I store the 5.0 AH battery in my house and use down the road or do I need to charge it occasionally? Thanks.
Hi thanks buddy I would charge it 75% and then store it in your house but don't store it in the Box just keep an eye on it it'll actually discharge on its own it's pretty smart but don't let it go to zero
Great video. I rotate my batteries on the charger week to week. I also have my charger on a timer so it only comes on for a few hours each day. I haven't noticed a decrease in battery life from this practice. I recently upgraded to the new mower with 10ah battery and new charger which seems to have more smarts built in than the basic black charger I have been using. I may need to just cycle that charger on for a hour each day to keep the battery topped off if necessary. I probably need to practice the cool down for the 10ah battery since it will be under constant use longer than my string trimmer or blower on my small quarter acre yard.
Thanks for the information. Although I have never seen all red lights in a resting battery, it is good to know what it means. Good job on seeing the red light and following through with Ego about it. Many people would not notice and not bother to find the cause.
Just experienced this exact thing. It's just before bed and I went down to take something out to the garage, the battery was glowing red and warm to the touch. I was also freaked out by it. I thought "oh great ones gone bad, is short circuiting and might burn my house down"
@@TechMadeEzy it’s a 2021 battery… been over 2 years…. The self maintenance mode keeps flashing green every 2 secs to the point where it drains the battery dead.
I used to have 3 Ego mowers-2 Xcut hand mowers-Sp. Also a 42” ZTR ride mower liked them all---rhen my house suffered a total loss from a fire. The fire burned QUICKLY. My spare battery’s were stored in the kitchen since my garage has no door. As I was doing laundry was when the house caught fire. After the firemen put the fire out they asked about my battery’s. Told them they were not being charged. Thfire started in the kitchen area where I kept the battery’s. As this point DO NOT stow your battery’s in your house. Once these get ignited you cannot put them out. Insurance is covering the loss. Think I will go back to a gas mower or one that uses a different kind of battery. At the temp rental home I am in have a laun service cut the lawn. My neighbor has an Ego hand type mower-I warned him about the battery’s. Ryobi was using LA battery’s in their outdoor gear as mowers. The LA battery’s are safer.
Great vid thank you! Just purchased my 1st ego product the 18 in chainsaw. I got so sick of gas saws and the constant struggle cleaning carburetors, mixing fuel etc.
mine have done that, I thought the same thing about bumping the button, I've seen them all drop the charge but only those few times with the red lights, they should be green or yellow for next model to relieve this pang of fear
Nice informational vid, experience this myself (solid red and warm to the touch, not hot) with my 56V 7.5AH (BA4200T) included with my purchase with the Mower (Feb 2021). In general, lithium batteries perform better when constantly charge up verses the older nickel metal hydride battery (NiMH or Ni-MH). These were prone to "memory effect/voltage depression" when not discharged to 10-20% before being re-charged. But rechargeable lithium does benefit from exercising, meaning they tend to last longer/work better when discharged approx. 30% occasionally. In the case with EGO, it's safe to assume winter months it's just sitting so self-maintenance would kick in, won't be needing that in the warm months since it's being drained enough to not go through any self-maintenance checks, given all things are in working order. The problem is it really does not say that in the manual. 5-LED shining red = over temperature. Why is it over temperature sitting there, I'm not using it. Is this how it's discharging, makes sense and would explain why it's warm? The manual says it 5 LEDs shine solid for 10 seconds ang go out for 10 seconds (slow blink). Does not seem to do that or maybe I missed the slow blinking part and now it was solid red from being warm not hot, though. Anywho I pressed & held the center button, and it went back to normal and is indicating fully charged (all green), will check it in my mower (the only EGO equipment I own) just to give it a check.
I came here..because I just saw this exact same thing..I stood there and was watching after I came in the door I saw the all red lights flash..stay on...flash..I walked over..pushed the button and all green came on fully charged.. I got to thinking...my next step was to quietly round up all the batteries...when I thought they may not be listening or monitoring vibration or inertia.. and put them at the furthest corner of my garage and watch them via camera..because now I thought..I am being monitored by hackers through ...this battery I thought now has other nefarious purpose...I was thinking will it at a specific moment explode...or emit poison gas?...is it a tracker...or a recorder that send back video an voice info on a private network it's equipped with? Is it a government monitoring tool? Are little legs about to pop out and it start chasing me shooting poisonous darts at me and my pets??! I was going nuts..though I tried not to panic.. So I decided decided to come on you tube...I am glad you went further Because I was thinking you were an operative for this deadly plot to blow up or poison millions of homes! Well..now I can rest... I am still giving the batter the side eye though...I sm taking it and it's charger out NY living room to a undisclosed spot in my garage!😂😂
I wish there was a way to disable the power down mide. When there was a power outage i went to run my ego inverter and all th he batteries i had charged were down to 2 bars each and it sucked
You can fight the battle and just keep recharging them but I would leave at least one bar leave a little bit of room in the battery so it's not fully charged it does help the battery's life
Just noticed it doing that today. I plugged in the charger and then held the button after taking it off the charger and verifying it was charged and not dead. Thought maybe it had overheated. Hope I didn’t mess up the discharge cycle.
What is the protocol for long term storage (6 months or longer?) Once self-drained to 30-50%, is there a need to fully charge every month after the self-discharge is automatically performed??
@rickviramontes2317 no, not that I'm aware of. They will drain on their own, so I'd just let them. They protect themselves which is amazing. Good luck you'll be fine
I believe the manual mentions you should store it with a certain percentage (charged). I’ve been doing this for the last 2 years and have had no issues.
Glad I found this. Last night one of my two batteries started flashing red, and it was warm to the touch on the indicator side. I saw the same thing several months ago after use and a charge...I called EGO, I was on hold for 30 mins....hung up and just forgot about it, till last night... So, I'm good..
I thought it was safe to keep the battery connected to the charger because the charger has built-in "artificial intelligence" to manage the battery when connected. It will not overcharge it - it will not continually charge it - and it knows if the battery has not been used and will permit it to deplete for long term storage and battery health - all while connected to the charger.
You are correct, I recommend this in general for all batteries just a good practice and something to get used to. With EGO you are correct, their batteries and chargers are well made.
@tech made easy can you confirm that this is a ok method. I’ve been doing it this way for a month now thinking that the battery and charger will work in conjunction to keep battery health 100 percent. If not then I will remove them from the charger.
Hi Daniel, From what I've learned this is correct but I simply keep my charger unplugged. Also keep in mind if your battery sits around with a full charge the battery technology will automatically start to discharge and you'll see a flashing red light that's normal don't worry about it.
Mine did same thing. I saw all bars lit up red, I put on the charger and the green lights came on indicating about 75% charge, so I fully charged it. I made a big mistake with my first battery and left it in my storage shed over the winter, and the cold killed it.
I've done a video on this, only the gen 2 batteries with 5 led bars blink while going into discharge mode, gen 1 does not blink the top just gets warm. the 7.5 takes about 2.5 days to fully discharge while the 5.0 takes like a full 24 hours or longer.
After writing my comment/question up above I saw this but its 2yrs old. Has anyone seen this info anywhere else. Mine was flashing for 3 hrs and I finally pushed center button and flashing stopped and it was fully charged which its suppose to discharge. Blinking stopped and I mite have stopped the discharge in maintenance mode. You think the manual would have given heads up on this info. Sounds like I stopped it.
I've always taken all of my batteries for various tools off of the chargers when they are fully charged. I know better than to leave them charging. But does leaving them connected to the charger have any affect on the battery if the charger is not powered on? I've often wondered if I could leave them on the charger with the charger powered off to save storage space.
I had this maintenance mode for 1 battery but not the other, used together, stored together, charged together, came from same bundle model A and B in serial number. Rep told me maintenance mode, i said why is the other one not doing so, he said that is normal as well. So ego makes all the rules broken or not.
Those batteries have been like that for sometime. If you don't use them for a month they go into hibernation. 30% is the ideal sleep mode. As far as I know it is the only battery that does that.
I’m a landscaper and have to use electric blowers in the Bay Area the battery’s don’t last long and it’s sucks because some homeowners dont want us to charge at their house so I have to buy a inverter just to be able to do my job
Ggenerally..... Lithium Ion "smart" batteries will not start charging if they are too hot. Once the battery has cooled down it well start charging automatically. It is a built in function of the battery itself. This may not apply to all Lith Ion batteries,
Dropped it one foot from floor pushed the reset button and it worked. Crazy. Had red circle and both lights blinking on charger now it’s charging just fine. Twilight zone
Hey how can I get one of those Tech Made Easy mugs!? I was really hoping to win that drawing! 😎 I think my coffee will taste 10% better from one of those ☝️😌🤙🏻🏄♂️😆
I have been using mine weekly - my EGO is 2 years old and I have only used it about 20 times. Mine flashed all red while I was using it. Then the next time it went from 3 bars to 1 bar within a minute. Then when I charged it , it didn't charge all the way - it stopped at 4 bars. Now this time it won't charge at all. I store it in my house so it is not subject to temp changes. I don't store it empty, I don't charge it when it is hot. I follow all of the suggestions and my battery went kaput :(
@@TechMadeEzy I do - I treat that little sucker like a baby. I do half my lawn and let it cool while I weed whack and then continue. I don't leave it on the charger after it is charged, I store it in the house so there are no large temp swings. I called EGO today - they are sending a new battery but it is only under warranty for 3 years from original purchase which stinks. I saw another UA-cam video that said the connectors are bad and sometimes banging it fixes it but I'm not banging it LOL! Too bad there is no one around here who would want to tinker with it - maybe they could get it to work since it is useless to me.
My manual says the red lights was 1st sequence then second sequence is green light flashing . Ok but mine was flashing for 3 hrs and I finally pressed center button and it was all green bars full. After I pressed it it didnt start maintenance again. Here is where I am confused. I thought it was suppose to bring it down to 30 percent in maintenance mode. And why after 3 hrs was it still doing maintenance. And why did I have to stop it. After 3 hrs it should have been depleting charge as its suppose to do. Anyone else have this happen.
Looks like Ego are following the principles for care of lithium ion batteries outlined by the Battery University website. I practice these principles with my mobile phone and the battery in it is still has about 96% of its original capacity after more than two years. I'm about to get an Ego line trimmer and will continue these practices for the best longevity.
lipo battery from DJI Drone will self discharge to 50/% just after 10 days in storage . Tech made Easy . can you share your experience about ego battery life pan . thank you
Just having them in your home it’s fine unless you have an insulated garage. If you don’t want to store the batteries in extremely hot areas or extremely cold areas.
I saw this video before but had to watch it again. The wife freaked out yesterday and asked me what the heck my 7.5ah batteries were doing (well, she just asked "Why are the batteries doing that?!"). I thought for a moment and then remember Oh yeah, they're supposed to do something like this after they're not used. I did hit the power level and it stopped. I hope I didn't stop the discharge. I'll check them later and charge them up again tomorrow.
lol the same thing happened to me today,i noticed my 2 newest batteries blinking or showing red,i knew they were fully charged, then i though something had pushed the button in or something, then i noticed they were warm,i was about to get upset, because i thought they were bad lol, this video calmed me down lol
Yup this happens to me all the time. It only happens if I move , talk or look at it. Self maintenance yah right. Take one apart and you will notice all the components
So, does it also decide to stop and do maintenance when in use? I'm mowing, and then the mower stops, and the light is blinking red. It was fully charged when I started, and now it's dead. Also, sometimes it comes off the charger red and nonfunctional. I can wait a whole day and it makes no difference. This was a replacement for a battery that failed under warranty. Since the failed battery had only six months left, the warranty for this replacement was...yes, you guessed it. Six months. Now MOST of the time when I pick it up it blinks red and will not work. I've warned neighbors who ask about my electric mower that the weak area in EGO products is the battery. This makes two out of four that I've had that are bad. I could spend more on batteries than if I had the grass cut by the local illegal alien yard people! And that's what I'm thinking about right now. So I may shortly have EGO mower, string trimmer, edger, and three iffy batteries for sale...cheap.
My DJI drone batteries have a very similar feature, very smart indeed. I drained all my batteries to 2/5 level on the meters before storing, then charged them to use in the snowblower
the problem people have with these batteries is that people full charge their batteries and leave them which damages the batteries. after a period of time the battery discharges to stop further damage. Never full charge your battery if you don't plan to use them soon. they say to charge them cause the BMS consumes power and you don't want to over discharge them which causes damage.
@@TechMadeEzy Holding color very well. Now covered in 8 inches of snow. Going to be an exciting year with the Bluebank KBG. Getting a battery powered Allett Liberty 43 reel mower this season. Stoked
my battery stopped charging although the charger said it was fully charged i got it last spring they said it was a bad battery this was 4 weeks ago i am still waiting for my new one
Ok, so I am complete moron!@@ I did everyone of those battery life savers things wrong! Fully discharge the battery each & everytime, plugged it into a faster charger right after using it and draining it, sits in cold(winter) hot(summer) garage, leave it plugged in charging for days
Solid red light explanation doesn't make sense. For one thing the previous gen battery will discharge over time without lighting up or getting warm. And secondly, if the red light meant it was discharging than the battery should be discharging but it hasn't. It still has 5 bars and read full on the charger. I believe the solid red means that its unable to discharge properly.
Much appreciated. I also opened my steel cupboard in the garage to find five red lights staring at me. Scary - until I viewed your excellent video. Thank you.

thanks! Just happened to me. Moved the batteries on the ceramic floor, just in case, far from wood or anything. lol
Glad it helped, honestly it doesn’t get hot enough to damage wood floors.
My ego 2.5ah battery is stuck in self-maintenance mode. How do I take it out of that mode?
Just let it go it might take a few days just let it go
@@TechMadeEzy it’s a 2021 battery… been over 2 years…. The self maintenance mode keeps flashing green every 2 secs to the point where it drains the battery dead.
If you’re concerned, your best bet is calling EGO. You have a three-year warranty. Just make sure you have proof of purchase.(855) 346-5656
Congrats Bobo I hope you are happy with it, I hope you stay with us on the channel. Any questions let me know we love to help when we can
mine have done that, I thought the same thing about bumping the button, I've seen them all drop the charge but only those few times with the red lights, they should be green or yellow for next model to relieve this pang of fear
Thank you
I came here..because I just saw this exact same thing..I stood there and was watching after I came in the door I saw the all red lights flash..stay on...flash..I walked over..pushed the button and all green came on fully charged..
So I decided decided to come on you tube...I am glad you went further
Because I was thinking you were an operative for this deadly plot to blow up or poison millions of homes!
Your fine 👍🏻
@@TechMadeEzy Yeah I imagine it will restart the discharge cycle again soon. I’ll keep an eye on it 👍🏻
Thanks!
FYI they also auto discharge to 30% if not used for a month
What is the protocol for long term storage (6 months or longer?)
Once self-drained to 30-50%, is there a need to fully charge every month after the self-discharge is automatically performed??
I keep my batteries around 50% that's all that's what I do and I've been using ego batteries since 2019
@@TechMadeEzy Thank you! Is there any way to quickly drain the batteries to desired charge percentage, without using them in a tool?
@rickviramontes2317 no, not that I'm aware of. They will drain on their own, so I'd just let them. They protect themselves which is amazing. Good luck you'll be fine
@@TechMadeEzy Yup, I plan to. Thanks for the info!
You can leave it stored for as long as you want at 30-50%, and just charge it up when you are ready to use it again.
I believe the manual mentions you should store it with a certain percentage (charged). I’ve been doing this for the last 2 years and have had no issues.
Hi Paul Yes I believe around 50%
Glad I found this.
Last night one of my two batteries started flashing red, and it was warm to the touch on the indicator side.
I saw the same thing several months ago after use and a charge...I called EGO, I was on hold for 30 mins....hung up and just forgot about it, till last night...
So, I'm good..
Hi Arlie glad this helped, definitely very smart batteries
Hold the power button for 6 seconds, then place into the charger and let go of the power button. Repeat this a few times, should work.
WOW, that's amazing, thanks, good to know
Artificial intelligence
Mine did same thing. I saw all bars lit up red, I put on the charger and the green lights came on indicating about 75% charge, so I fully charged it. I made a big mistake with my first battery and left it in my storage shed over the winter, and the cold killed it.
Expense, definitely keep them inside
The instructions dont mention the red light coming on though. Big oversight.
thank you for the information!
Thank you
I've always taken all of my batteries for various tools off of the chargers when they are fully charged. I know better than to leave them charging. But does leaving them connected to the charger have any affect on the battery if the charger is not powered on? I've often wondered if I could leave them on the charger with the charger powered off to save storage space.
It's no issue honestly
I have some RC batteries that do this as well. It’s a awesome feature!
AJ! How are you?
@@TechMadeEzy doing pretty good my friend!

That just worked for me!
Lmao why did this work? 😂
I don’t recommend dropping your battery
Reset button?
Yes the owners manual says it will discharge to around 30% after non use because it’s bad to store at 100%
100% thanks Brian
Hey how can I get one of those Tech Made Easy mugs!? I was really hoping to win that drawing! 😎 I think my coffee will taste 10% better from one of those ☝️😌🤙🏻🏄♂️😆
I’ll think if something. I don’t have a store yet, channel is too small but I’ll think of something thanks Brian
I read that it will do that?
👍🏼
I have been using mine weekly - my EGO is 2 years old and I have only used it about 20 times. Mine flashed all red while I was using it. Then the next time it went from 3 bars to 1 bar within a minute. Then when I charged it , it didn't charge all the way - it stopped at 4 bars. Now this time it won't charge at all. I store it in my house so it is not subject to temp changes. I don't store it empty, I don't charge it when it is hot. I follow all of the suggestions and my battery went kaput :(
Maybe it was over heated? Do you bring your batteries inside your house when not in use?
I wish you the best. I hope your replacement unit last you a long time.
@@TechMadeEzy thank you! I hope so because I love my mower! Thanks to you for the video of it that helped me choose :)
Thank you as well
My manual says the red lights was 1st sequence then second sequence is green light flashing .
Definitely solid batteries
lipo battery from DJI Drone will self discharge to 50/% just after 10 days in storage . Tech made Easy . can you share your experience about ego battery life pan . thank you
Good idea , thank you
When I press the battery it says 2 bars and then goes solid red and I can't charge mine. It's going in the trash.
Sorry to hear this, Are you under warranty?
How to make balanced room between hot and cold?
Balanced Room?
@@TechMadeEzy Well yess, I just want to make sure if I could keep them in my room, and like you said it has to be balanced something like that
Just having them in your home it’s fine unless you have an insulated garage. If you don’t want to store the batteries in extremely hot areas or extremely cold areas.
@@TechMadeEzy Thanks I just wanted to know that, I am thinking to get ego trimmer for myself, and is it worth it?
I enjoy them, remind me and I will send you the one I recommend
I saw this video before but had to watch it again.
The wife freaked out yesterday and asked me what the heck my 7.5ah batteries were doing (well, she just asked "Why are the batteries doing that?!").
I thought for a moment and then remember Oh yeah, they're supposed to do something like this after they're not used.
I did hit the power level and it stopped. I hope I didn't stop the discharge. I'll check them later and charge them up again tomorrow.
Lol yup wives do freak out for sure, yeah I’ve seen mine do it for a day sometimes more.

Cool, just some battery tech 👍🏻
Yup this happens to me all the time. It only happens if I move , talk or look at it. Self maintenance yah right. Take one apart and you will notice all the components
We have so many issues with those batteries and the customer service is so limited to help us....
Sorry to hear
I freaked out, too, when it happened to two of my 7.5s...they were pretty warm. EGO got a call, lol
Definitely lol I was worried about a fire starting myself Shiny
Great info...ty.

Temperature can affect it, also if it's an older battery I've seen it happen
My DJI drone batteries have a very similar feature, very smart indeed. I drained all my batteries to 2/5 level on the meters before storing, then charged them to use in the snowblower
I had to sell my DJi when I lived by an airport, was never able to use it... they make solid drones
@@TechMadeEzy oh that’s a tough one. In my opinion..the best in the business. I’ve owned a lot of them and always have great luck
Agree, definitely a solid feel. Good luck
the problem people have with these batteries is that people full charge their batteries and leave them which damages the batteries. after a period of time the battery discharges to stop further damage. Never full charge your battery if you don't plan to use them soon. they say to charge them cause the BMS consumes power and you don't want to over discharge them which causes damage.
Very good info. Thank you

Autel drone batteries self-discharge after a settable period.
if any battery got some issue with it will lose it its power by itself but it is a good story for beginners to cover ego ass
As expensive as these batteries are I don't fully charge the battery until I plan on using it.
That’s fine it’s good to leave the batteries at around 50% but no matter what they self discharge to protect themselves
Dude DJI phantom batteries have been doing this for 8 plus years
Stay tuned?
Nice intro
Thank you
The batteries should be recharged if not used for 6 months as well.
Good advice, definitely don’t want to let them sit dead for a long time.
Or even worse, it catches fire when you are home and don't notice it
Now you know why you should read the owners manual. Clearly stated in manual……. Lol
Ok, so I am complete moron!@@ I did everyone of those battery life savers things wrong! Fully discharge the battery each & everytime, plugged it into a faster charger right after using it and draining it, sits in cold(winter) hot(summer) garage, leave it plugged in charging for days

@@TechMadeEzy how much does it cost total for new model and all battery and slim solar penal with extranet charger ?
The 2 stage snow blower?
Solid red light explanation doesn't make sense. For one thing the previous gen battery will discharge over time without lighting up or getting warm. And secondly, if the red light meant it was discharging than the battery should be discharging but it hasn't. It still has 5 bars and read full on the charger. I believe the solid red means that its unable to discharge properly.
