      @JJM2222 6 років тому +4

      @@williambosch4090 the third shot is what prevented the deer from suffering. Its not a shot you'd take first, but its a great spot to ensure lethality. You're going to let a deer thats potentially non-fatally wounded walk off to really suffer and die from infection never to be recovered?
      @beastmode cowboy
      I cant help but notice you didn't say you wouldn't want to do this to a deer, "you wouldn't want a video published of it". Shows you got something tied up in hiding the truth about yourself. From my experience, if they don't see you, hear you, or smell you they will stay until they can identify what the "threat" was/ where it came from. I'm not afraid to admit, I actually missed all three times (not a bad shot, I just had terrible buck fever) and never ended up shooting the deer. Happens to all of us.

    • @MateoEnFuego
      @MateoEnFuego 6 років тому

      Ants Atlas a gut shot is an arrow that penetrates the abdomen of the deer. Hunters aim just behind the front shoulder so that the arrow goes through the lungs/and or the heart. A professional hunter at thirty yards has no business missing, and then two gut shots! He had two arrows penetrate that deer in the wrong place making it an unpleasant death! Hope I helped explain it for ya. That third arrow nearly ran straight up that Bucks rear end! He totally ran away with an arrow logged completely inside the length of his insides!

    Really big deer! But you deliberately aimed at the bottom edge of the deer's chest on the first shot? So if the arrow went where you wanted it to, and the deer didn't drop, you'd miss? Aim a bit low if you really think the deer is going to drop, but never so low that it is a miss if the deer doesn't drop or just flinches. Seems like you might be experienced enough to know that. So did the first arrow really go where you were aiming? Or did you just miss low?

    Unbelievable that he was able to get 3 shots off. He also mentioned checking deercast. Is it the same deercast you guys have out now, and if so was it being used in early development stage? Awesome story and vid!

      Im wondering why you (drury outdoors) dont answer other questions or comments that are asked,let me guess cause question is about something your promoting or plugging.
      So heres a ? If you could take 3rd shot back would you still take same shot like you did knowing your gut shotting him and remember experience and knowledge knows that deer 1/4ing away not good shot to take and add in shooting in between 2trees cmon man

    • @raccoontrapper
      @raccoontrapper 6 років тому

      boltaktion34 Why would he want to take the third shot back? He clearly hit the deer on the second shot, the third shot was just to make sure the deer died. It definitely wasn’t a good shot but it was the best shot he had under the circumstances. If you ever make a bad shot on an animal the best thing you can do is get another shot in it as soon as you can so it dies as quickly as possible. As long as a deer is still standing and within range I’m going to keep shooting it even if I think my first shot was perfect. Why? So that I make sure I harvest the deer as ethically as possible. What’s ethical about shooting a deer and then letting it run off when you could have put a second shot into but you didn’t because you didn’t want to damage your ego?

    Two shots..............Three shots.................good things those private/tame deer will stand still for Pete's bows with plots and locked in land so your cameraman can get his bonus bucks. Seriously. Since when does the camera man tell the hunter when to shoot? Absurd on so many levels.

    Some of y’all have never even chased a deer for 3-4+ years. So what do you know about shooting a deer you’ve chased so long and is your biggest deer of your lifetime. Shooting something like that after all those years you overthink you get overwhelmed and shaky! I’ll give him respect where respect is due!

    Anybody that says the third shot was unethical is just flat out wrong. You're going to let a wounded animal suffer because you cant hit its lungs? Put an arrow where-ever you can. Simple as that, it may not be pretty, but its the best thing for the animal. More blood loss the better. And anybody that says they haven't missed is either a liar or not much of a bow-hunter!
    Bunch of armchair critics. Most people cant even get a trail cam pic of a buck this big, much less hunt it successfully. There are those that have missed and those that will!

  • @dtones520
    @dtones520 6 років тому +18

    I’m glad you are happy but that was some seriously unethical shooting. Number one, why would you assume he is going to duck the string? He wasn’t skiddish and had no clue you were there. They duck the string when they are on alert that something isn’t right. Number 2, you seriously felt okay only having a tiny gut shot window to kill this deer? That is straight up messed up. Your chances of wounding that deer were WAY more than killing it. So disappointing...
