Best video in my opinion to explain every step in backswing. You two formed a great team to put the mechanism and drills together. The video is professionally done with two different views, and Tiger’s swing is being used at appropriate times convincingly. Nicely done. I expect the “downswing “ part is even more exciting because that’s where DRIVING happens. Can’t wait to see that!!!
JT has a great swing and is very generous sharing the proper technique in using a driver. Does this swing technique apply to all clubs when shooting for distance?
I've watched a ton of golf videos, probably way too many. This one has by far made the biggest impact on my golf game and in particular my driving. Raising may arms higher and facing my back hand up on the back swing has added 10-20 mph swing speed, and 20-25 yards to my driver. Thanks so much for the great video!
the online golf community often mentions "holy grail" moves in golf, but THIS video is as much a holy grail as an tip or drill. Amazing and effective...this looks so much like not only Tiger, but Brooks, Rory, etc...great video - thanks!
Hands down one of the best golf coaches on the planet. By teaching me what it "feels" like as opposed to "try this" he completely changed the game for me. I went from a 19.2 index to a 13.5 after the first three months of lessons with JT. 2 years later and I'm in single digit territory with a 290 yard driver average and 48% FIR (Arccos data). Thanks for everything JT!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. This looks so promising to me. I've recently had success by shortening my backswing because I felt I was throwing my power away as I approached the top. Even saying 'top' tells me I was thinking high instead of back with my slinging trail arm. With this video I believe I can now continue to build that power all the way back. I kind of knew I had to do that but didn't know how. That I have a very stretched ribcage and arms now after working through this in my living room is a great sign. :) Eric, I loved how you focused on pausing to explain the pieces and the looks/feels. Very nicely done!
Really a great concept! I went to the range today and couple thia video with the recent video on the trailing shoulder. I hit some of the most crisp irons i have hit in the last few years! Great instruction from a fantastic instructor !
Just tried this. Great explanation. Added 20 yards and felt better. Need to dial it in but definitely helpful. The explanation between both of you is more helpful than one person explaining it 2:22
I stumbled over JT's swing concept at Bebettergolf, where he has 3 videos. Counterintuitive to the modern gospels, but working much better for me, a tall, lanky player. This clarifies it further. Many thanks.
Very key points/drills! This should help my driving be much more consistent and add power/length. And the drills can help even if you are not as flexible as the Pros are. 👍
Amazing video! I found this so helpful in decluttering my driver back swing. I'm curious how different (if at all) JT's backswing instructions would be for irons.
Great video. I'm going to start these drills in my backyard net and check my positions on video. I struggle to get width and depth with my driver and I think this drill process will help me. Thanks Eric and JT!
Great video, as always. When do you talk about the "slinging" part of the swing? This was mostly about backswing positions rather than slinging the release like Steve Pratt shows in his videos.

Hi Eric. Richard from Australia. You have a big following down here. It seems to me that this "full turn" backswing looks after the diwnswing?? Do you agree. Im about to watch the follow up downswing video with you and JT
Great stuff, I can't turn that far without lifting my left foot, as Jack did I'm 72 not very flexible lol. Can I use the left foot coming down as a downswing trigger?

Getting into the slot with the inner arms looking upwards is the magic sauce. For me, a flippy 9 goes approx. 115 yards. When I get into the slot, between 140 to 150. Getting into the slot eliminates over the top and steep swings. I wish I knew this when I first started playing.
While you want width with the right arm, and maybe people who have the club too far toward the target line at the top of the backswing might want to feel the trail arm moving around behind your ribcage, but do you really want the trail arm that far behind your vertical shirt seam or is it just a feeling?

My coach for distsnce is telling me to extend my trail arm to get the club as far from me as possible. My swing speed has increased however in you instruction you have a bending of the trail arm. Interested in you comments on this.

Likely you are talking about FEEL vs REAL.....of course the arm needs to bend....let's say 90* bent at top on average....I would assume you were bending TOO MUCH which is why your coach said feel farther (just to get to normal) We can OVERDO or UNDERDO anything.
