@@Tempo_Gigantewhat’s worth covering about silo? the show runners mastered the art of cliff hanging their cliff hangers with extra cliff hangers. Now second season splits it between 2 locations, which means their first cliff hanger is a 2 week hang. Couple that with lazy flash back writing and you got 1 supremely bird fed cliff hung shit show.

The guy's head could be shaking because if he had been exposed to spice In high AmountsHe could be going through withdrawals, And in the Dune universe we'd never actually seen anyone go through withdrawals from spice, Were led to believe that not having spice in your system once you're addicted causes death but maybe that wasn't true

Just a reminder that the Bene Gesserit were breeding humans to produce the Kwisatz Haderach, which would be a being with the full potential to access both male and female ancestral memories, unlike the Bene Gesserit women who primarily access their female lineage memories. My theory is the assassinations were due to both victims being regular spice users. My theory is Desmond has somehow been granted the power to manipulate spice & it was then simple for him (even across time & space) to burn their spice-infused bodies from the inside out.
I think there’s clearcut evidence Kasha had been taking spice. Basically, she’s implausibly young! We first see Kasha as one of the young sisters allied to Valya's & Tula's faction. Accordingly, she belongs to their generation. But when we jump forward 30 years, the grown-up Kashs clearly looks like she’s from a younger generation than Valya & Tula. If you don’t buy this, consider the actors’ ages: Emily Watson (Valya) = age 57 ; Olivia Williams (Tula) = age 56 ; Jihae Kim (Kasha) = age 35. There’s no way a prestige production like this would make such a basic casting error! It is well established in the Dune universe that regular spice use improves health and can radically extend life expectancy.
There’s also several more circumstantial arguments supporting Kasha taking spice:
    * Kasha is by far the most important of all the Truthsayers - both in her role as adviser to the Emperor & in persuading the sole heir to join the sisterhood. Strategically, it makes sense for Kasha to be given first call (ahead of even Valya) to whatever spice the sisterhood held to improve her powers & so make her even more indispensable to House Corrino.
    * We saw an early (maybe the first) use of the Voice by a proto-Bene Gesserit. In the later Dune sagas, many Bene Gesserit are regular spice users. It would make sense for us to be also shown one of the first examples of a proto-Bene Gesserit taking spice.
    * The episode slyly suggests the sisterhood were linked to the spice thefts on Arrakis.
    * Kasha’s prescient dream is consistent with someone regularly taking spice.
I admit the case for Pruitt taking spice is much weaker - but isn't non-existant. For a start, we can assume it would be his ruthless, risk-taking father illicitly giving Pruitt spice. Pruitt looks to be the sole heir to House Richese and, as noted above, regular spice use improves health. House Richese appear to be the wealthiest of all the houses & procuring a regular supply of spice would be nothing to them in the context of potentially protecting their heir.
We could also view Pruitt illegal AI robot toy - undoubtedly given to him by his father - as evidence of his father’s risky (and wildly inappropriate) attitude of giving his son access to anything that might tactically augment his upbringing.
Lastly, when Desmond fatefully meets Pruitt alone in a corridor, Pruitt explains he is there because he has had a bad dream. This could well be inferred he had - in parallel with Kasha - a spice-induced prescient dream. However, as an untrained young child, he was much less well equipped than Kasha to appreciate the significance of the dream.

There’s a list of theories you can surmise imo but nothing to solidify any just yet. For instance, there’s a lot of plausible theories for how the child was burned, but for kasha to be burned simultaneously, I think throws them out the window of reasonable logic. Such as poisoning, an injection while controlling with the reptile machine, etc etc. It’s a very interesting path to go down imo.

Loved the details and the background you provide, as for the take on this premiere episode, I kinda did not mind that it has yet to have blewn the roof off.
For me I took the series about the newly formed bene geserit story to be mysterious , and being 10k years apart from the DUNE movies / book events not much to tie into that story, except for the visions that we keep guessing are for AI or Paul.
I am hyped and looking forward to the future episodes, and hoping they will unravel the story at a steady pace, and surprise us at some turns, that would be a joy to see.
The lore , the costumes, the world building, the desing, the visuals all look stunning, the cast seems spot on for the main characters, so I am full of optimism!

The Sorceresses of Rossak could cook people alive (telekinetically), though they were focused on thinking machines during the Jihad. Also, Valya and Tula are aware of their Harkonnen lineage and consistently hunted Vorian Atreides for retribution in the books. In the book that took place before the show ("Navigators of Dune") they were convinced they finally killed him... Heavy Spoilers needs to research the lore better.

A lot of youtubers that talk about Dune haven't read enough of the books. I think I heard somewhere in this video that the Harkonnens ran during the Butlerian Jihad?? No the Harkonnens(Tercero Xavier Harkonnen) were the heroes of the Jihad. Vorian Atreides, the son of Titan Agamemnon was on the side of the machines, and that is why the feud between the houses started. Harkonnens were the good guys.

@@Junglist619000 To be fair, Vorian Atreides switched sides and became a hero for mankind. Xavier Harkonnen sacrificed his reputation as a war hero by assassinating Iblis Ginjo, who switched sides like Vorian Atreides but became an corrupt politician. This was a while before the conflict ended, however. What really tanked the Harkonnen's reputation is when Xavier's grandson, Abulurd Harkonnen, defied Vorian Atreides at The Battle of Corrin. The situation was complex since the machines had hostages. That's why Abulurd was reluctant to attack. As a result he was branded a coward and a traitor and exiled.

Travis Fimmel is one of my favorite actors. He was incredible on the History Channel's drama series "Vikings."
He took his character, "Ragnar Lothbrok," and hit the ground running with it. I mean, to go from a pretty boy look, modeling for Calvin Klein to this bad a** warrior & king in Vikings, he literally flipped the script to a whole different level.
Then his next big drama series on HBO's "Raised By Wolves" had me thinking what he would do next?
    And he didn't disappoint ...
    Travis Fimmel stars in
    "DUNE: Prophecy" as
Desmond Hart, and after seeing the 1st episode, it most definitely has me wanting more, and the 2nd episode can't get here fast enough!

It would imply that ynez or her womb are "rotten" in some way. whether this be because ynez herself will become a problem or her actions will ultimately betray her goals (seemingly to control the universe with the BG). Enjoyed this much more on second viewing. I think I'd foolishly gone into it hoping for hour long episodes of a Denis Villeneuve film, which was obviously never going to happen. Those films have arguably the best director, director of photography, composer, VFX artists, production designers, sound department etc. working in cinema today. As well as, of course, a healthy serving of some of the most charismatic and good looking Hollywood stars of recent years, not to mention they're shot in IMAX format for BIG screens. Prophecy is a TV show with a fraction of the time and budget and while HBO have a really solid track record of producing some of the greatest shows of all time, they were never going to be able to match the films in terms of spectacle.
Gave my head a shake before watching a second time and got a lot more out of it. Scenes with the younger characters definitely do feel like Children of Dune or Stargate Atlantis or something though... But I think I can get past that. Looking forward to Mark Addy popping up. I'm just happy to have a weekly HBO show to watch because my life is very empty.
