This is not going to be true to the Dune Lore. There were no Fremen on Arrakis 10,000years before Paul Atreides! Dune: Prophecy has Brian Herbert written all over it and you should just enjoy it as it will have Little to No effect on The Main Movies (A Cameo or Two at Best, Don’t expect any Dune 3 setups in Play).
Maybe the poison was on his knife. Notice how he did not touch it and rolled it to the kid. The kid picked it back up. Then when he was in his presence, maybe there is something he does to make him burn.
I read "The Battle of Corrin" book. I always thought the charge of cowardice was incorrect. It took much courage to make the decision Abulard Harkonnen made. He should have been charged with gross incompetence, or tactical stupidity. Also the Harkonnens are evil, because while Vorian Atriedes tried to end the fued on multiple occasion, the Harkonnens kept on with it. But that was in the books. We'll see what happens on this show.

I really enjoyed in the house of the sisters the vines and moss that grow from the stairs looks exactly like the blood that was shed the night she killed her own sister. Doubling down on the celebrated in light but won in darkness theme

I hope you will take the time to at least watch/read summaries of the Great Schools of Dune books, but a couple things you need to know: -The Harkonnens are VERY different in this part of the timeline than 10k yrs later -Valya was most definitely not sent to the Sisterhood, but she and her brother Griffin (RIP, hence the sigil, another reason she hates the Atreides) made big plans for the family, to restore their honor after the events she referenced at the start of the episode
I was very underwhelmed. Except Desmond, all character were either uninteresting or insufferable to me. I stopped the episode twice and only resumed just to be done with it, not because I was even remotely engaged.
I enjoyed reading all the "Dune" books, but there is no denying that Brian Herbert, and Kevin J. Anderson's books contradict Frank Herbert's. Still very entertaining though. Great video. Thanks.
I was thinking it was poison as well. But one thing made me question it. When Desmond stated he had a new power as the boy started burning. Not sure if he meant supernatural or positional, now that he has a place in the palace.
Could Kasha and Pruwet have fallen victim to old machine tech nanites/nanobots, since they both went the same way. The connection to that robot lizard toy as a potential delivery system. It disappeared from Pruwet's hands before Kasha started burning up as well. 🤔
Poison and ghola are not mutually exclusive options. Why would you think they are? One thing to keep in mind about Paul is that he has a very short attention span (squirrel!), so if you haven't watched it yet, YMMV.
This show does seem to present one 'problem' that also occurs in "Star Wars: The Old Republic': Technology seems rather stagnant. In both settings, tens of thousands of years separate the 'Old' setting from the 'New', and yet the technology seems pretty much the same, with no explanation for why. Funny thing is, in Futurama, of all things, they do explain why technology seems only slightly advanced, despite 1000 years having passed: Civilization on Earth got wiped out by an Alien Invasion.....TWICE 😂......but we quickly recovered from the second one 😅
Ominous wasn't part of Frank's cannon, and we don't know if Omnius is going to be featured in this show. You probably shouldn't bring him up and confuse audiences when you don't know if he's going to be part of this canon.
Im thinking the “poison” might actually be Bene Tleilax tech, deployed by another piece of Tleilaxu tech if that makes sense. Didn’t wanna be too blunt and spoilery for anyone unfamiliar. I can’t judge how this show will hit with those who aren’t already into Herbert’s Dune. I’m too biased and love the books and world. That said I’m having a blast with the show this early in and love that the vast majority of it is new and original.
Having only read Franks books, I have a real issue with how the Butlerian Jihad is presented. I know Frank never really goes into it, but it would seem more his style to have had it be more of a semi-religious philosophical struggle of ideas, ending with an all out ban on thinking machines, than an actual war. But hat might just be me.
I got three minutes in and was already bogged down by a stream-of-consciousness exposition. I love Dune. But wow. They really weren't trying to make this a gripping watch.
lower "c" catholic means universal. only the capital "c" Catholic Church refers to the roman catholic church. So, when used with a lower case C, it simply means universal.
yep i think its poison, but i wonder if the little lizard was infected when it was knifed in the wedding by Desmond! so the boy kept playing with it and got infected but i dont understand how the Bene Gesserit died when she was far away???
TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH YOUR CRITICISM THAT THE PREMIERE "Dragged" The show totally engrossed me with the layers of intrigue just like the movies, I was pleasantly surprised that the didn't feel like a watered down shadow of the movie. And since it is set 10k years before the movie, nothing that happens would have any impact on the canon of Denis' films.
Probably off here but even though I had a bit of a hard time sitting through this whole, slow moving and slightly boring first episode, I semi got the feeling that the boy's father may have sacrificed him in a sense. He was seen at the presentation of his son to the Mark Strong character, to have basically shoved him when presenting him, sort of like a lamb to the slaughter, since he obviously has plans on attempting to attain the throne. So I could see that his father allowing the "thinking toy" to be held onto by his son, as a possible mechanism for the death, as it seems to disappear after he is seen dead from burning. The boy also seems to grab his stomach as it starts to burn, perhaps indicating somehow, the machine has entered into his body? How the witch lady died was not shown to what led up to it, so no idea on that, but Travis Fimmel and his character seems not to be controlling the death of the boy, but perhaps being controlled himself in some way, but I am no Dune expert like Heavy Spoiler PAUL.... See ya punk...
The Sorceresses of Rossak could cook people alive (telekinetically), though they were focused on thinking machines during the Jihad. Also, Valya and Tula are aware of their Harkonnen lineage and consistently hunted Vorian Atreides for retribution in the books. In the book that took place before the show ("Navigators of Dune") they were convinced they finally killed him... Heavy Spoilers needs to research the lore better.
...if you guys wanna nerd out on Dune, learn about the Eleusian mysteries, and a particular mad man to seek out is Ammon Hillman for the translations this series originates from. Happy tripping

-The Harkonnens are VERY different in this part of the timeline than 10k yrs later
-Valya was most definitely not sent to the Sisterhood, but she and her brother Griffin (RIP, hence the sigil, another reason she hates the Atreides) made big plans for the family, to restore their honor after the events she referenced at the start of the episode
This was a hard watch. I didnt care about any of it at all , lol. I love Dune universe so i probably try and give a chance to another episode. 5/10
I was very underwhelmed. Except Desmond, all character were either uninteresting or insufferable to me. I stopped the episode twice and only resumed just to be done with it, not because I was even remotely engaged.
Tit tok attention span Dune is not for
everyone buddy
Hi Pauly
Sheit I knew the series was coming but didn't realize it started tonight. 😮 I had to go and watch the episode before this video. Woot
I enjoyed reading all the "Dune" books, but there is no denying that Brian Herbert, and Kevin J. Anderson's books contradict Frank Herbert's. Still very entertaining though. Great video. Thanks.
I can’t wait for your HeavySpoiler PROPHECY on DUNE PROPHECY
2:02 copious amounts... like the one drop Paul ingested 😀
I was thinking it was poison as well. But one thing made me question it. When Desmond stated he had a new power as the boy started burning. Not sure if he meant supernatural or positional, now that he has a place in the palace.
Yes it was Desmond's new power... didn't u notice him touching his forehead and straining? He burned the boy using his mind
Could Kasha and Pruwet have fallen victim to old machine tech nanites/nanobots, since they both went the same way. The connection to that robot lizard toy as a potential delivery system. It disappeared from Pruwet's hands before Kasha started burning up as well. 🤔
She was on another planet
No it was Desmond using psychic powers
This feels more like the sci-fi Chanel one 🤷♂️
Poison and ghola are not mutually exclusive options. Why would you think they are?
One thing to keep in mind about Paul is that he has a very short attention span (squirrel!), so if you haven't watched it yet, YMMV.
Gurney and Paul, not Duncan. 😊. Though normally that would be true.
I believe the blue eyes actually belong to Leto II. He hurt Bene Gesserit much more severely than Paul 🤔
But it may be just me.
Mentats are also a drug in the Fallout Universe they give you an increase to "intelligence"
I really liked this one. I could tell by the cast it has a real budget and was taken seriously
I wish Dune PT 2 kept the book ending man. It felt like they took from Jessica in the story to give more to Chani.
It could be that Desmond is using some form Ixian technology.
I got three minutes in and was already bogged down by a stream-of-consciousness exposition. I love Dune. But wow. They really weren't trying to make this a gripping watch.
Song? See, now I want a "Theory Time" music video.
lower "c" catholic means universal. only the capital "c" Catholic Church refers to the roman catholic church. So, when used with a lower case C, it simply means universal.
yep i think its poison, but i wonder if the little lizard was infected when it was knifed in the wedding by Desmond! so the boy kept playing with it and got infected but i dont understand how the Bene Gesserit died when she was far away???
Great first episode, photography was almost better than the Villenueve films 🙊
TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH YOUR CRITICISM THAT THE PREMIERE "Dragged" The show totally engrossed me with the layers of intrigue just like the movies, I was pleasantly surprised that the didn't feel like a watered down shadow of the movie. And since it is set 10k years before the movie, nothing that happens would have any impact on the canon of Denis' films.
Fair enough, glad you’re enjoying it
You said they’re training with shields like when Duncan and Paul practiced but I think you mean Gurney not Duncan
I'm glad I'm not the only one that heard that 😅
Ragnar Lothbrok!!!!
No. Desmond sacrificed him
The Sorceresses of Rossak could cook people alive (telekinetically), though they were focused on thinking machines during the Jihad. Also, Valya and Tula are aware of their Harkonnen lineage and consistently hunted Vorian Atreides for retribution in the books. In the book that took place before the show ("Navigators of Dune") they were convinced they finally killed him... Heavy Spoilers needs to research the lore better.
Thank you. Yeah that makes more sense.
@heavyspoilers No problem. Also, check out the story of Tula Harkonnen and Orry Atreides. It's crazy.
...if you guys wanna nerd out on Dune, learn about the Eleusian mysteries, and a particular mad man to seek out is Ammon Hillman for the translations this series originates from. Happy tripping
