Huge thank you for checking out the video. This is now the longest solo one I’ve done for the channel and a massive thank you to our editors Steesh, Jon, Kobik, Laurence, Cade and Griffin for all their hard work. I think they had to edit down about 6 hours of me rambling but they absolutely killed it.

One detail I like (not sure if you weren't aware or if you were planning on bringing it up in a later video): In the Battle of Mount Doom, you called out the elves were gold compared to the dark colours of Sauron's army. Their armour is mostly in golds and greens, symbolzing spring/summer. Magic is plentiful, the elves are at their peak.
It's hard to tell when the elves reappear in the Battle of Helm's Deep, 'cause night time, but it's more obvious in RotK: elven armour in the "present" of the films is shown to be in more rust and copper tones. Magic is dying, the elves are diminishing. The Age of Man approaches, and the elves are leaving. It is symbolically their Autumn. (Also represented in Rivendell, as you mentioned -- it's not just the season of autumn in the world, it's where the elves are in their millennia-long life cycle.)
If you image search for "lord of the rings elf 2nd age armour" vs. "3rd age armour" you can see the differences more clearly.

Amazing video! One point is when you said that Galadriel’s hair was used to create the Silmarils, this actually wasn’t the case. She refused Feänor even a single strand of her hair, sensing a darkness in him. It makes her giving Gimli 3 strands of her hair all the more powerful

I don’t agree with all of Tolkien’s worldviews, but it’s so refreshing to revisit a story that actually praises clear heroism and has morally good main characters. The books and the movies will always be timeless because the theme that you should fight to protect what you love will always ring true. GRRM needs to stop fighting against this very idea if he ever hopes to finish ASOIAF. Great video man keep up the good work it’s clear that you’re actually a big fan and writing these scripts yourself.

If you’ve not had your fill of LOTR, I’d recommend the BBC Radio dramatisation which you reference Sir Ian Holme being in as Frodo. 1:44:53 Man, love your videos, but saying that Galadriel’s hairs were used to create the Silmarils is wrong in so many ways; yes, they act as an olive branch between elves and dwarves, but c’mon, the Silmarils were crafted by an elf before the First Age, all the way across the sea, and they had within them the light of the two trees. I know that, in the book, Galadriel’s hair is described to have the glow of the two trees, but the connection ends there 😅. Other than that, the video was great, as always.

What's interesting is the Tolkien Scholar (John Sierra) said Sauron's original Quenya name Mairon, which means “The Admirable” or “Admirable One” can also be translated as "Precious"! If so, this makes the Ring seem even more sinister when all the other characters call it "My Precious".

Slight correction concerning the rings of power. The elven rings were not uncontrollable by the one, as the one could hold dominance over all the rings of power, chiefly as it was still made with the same process Sauron as Annatar taught Celebrimbor. However he had no hand in their making so they were not corruptible, however, when Sauron made the one and put it on, they felt his presence and will, and took theirs off to avoid his control. They only out them back on after his defeat at the battle of Dagorlad.

So I got some tickets for me and my family and almost all the cast was there (No Viggo or Ian) It is one of my top moments in my life and seeing something I loved brought to the screen with a theater full of passionate fans and it is the #1 experience I ever had watching a movie. This movie is the ultimate fantasy movie... it is so incredibly well-made. It has no equal. Also the trilogy is the last of it's kind - with that I'm talking about the way almost everything is done the old way in camera. There's surprisingly little CGI in the trilogy and Fellowship has the least amount of CGI of the three movies. The best movie of the trilogy and the best of it's kind overall.
Nice job with this breakdown... I'm sure it could have been twice the lenght and there would still be stuff to cover, but the most important stuff is here.

42:40 It is a reference to tobacco, or a derivative likeness, and the books even describe how the Hobbits cultivate it and introduce it to Middle Earth at large through trade. They call it weed, just like they call Athilas a "weed," because it does not have a vegetable pourpose. Plus, Tolkien often smoked a tobacco pipe, like many in his day.
