    You’re a goddamn lifesaver ...had this problem since I got my 96 5.7l Silverado back when I was 15 three years ago and go through three-four cap and rotors a year and have only driven the truck maybe a year in Total out of three years of ownership ...no one has had an answer for this ...the best I got was that I could turn around and spray the distributor shaft vents with air and wd40 until today my dad put my truck in the shop about three days ago so I went to check up and tell them about the moisture problem and they told me as soon as I said moisture cap and rotor . Doug-“oh yea there’s no getting rid of that unless you keep it garage kept its just how it is because of the design of it and the best you can do is take of the cap and dry it out”. I was relieved because I didn have to say much and they knew already without even looking in there but your video is gonna save my life and bank ...this truck was bought in the town over from me for 1500$ in 08 after an older lady’s husband passed and it barely had I believe 34,000 miles but my dad bought it and it was the truck I grew up in and it was his work truck for years until he switched jobs and had a work truck that he had to always drive and he sold the truck to my uncle who put new headers and exhaust and made sure it ran until my uncle went to the same job as my dad and another work truck scenario in which he let the truck sit for months til I turn 15 and we bought it back from him and it’s been through so much and it’s such a big part of my childhood ...I’m 18 now and I’m leaving for the marines on September 9th but before I go I’m getting this truck back up and running for my little brother who’s bout to be old enough to drive and I want him to be able to hold it and use it for me ...this truck has saved my life more times over than I can explain the power from it and the body I’ve been able to maneuver it out of so many near misses and drunk drivers and people speeding in shitty cars the same truck I grew up in had served me right all my life so far and I’m ready to give back to it but I think it might be time for the engine to go when I finally save up the moeny before I leave for my enlistment as long as my brother takes care of it I will be coming back ...I don’t care about sports cars (except for 89 and older nissans) I just want this truck and I wanna make this truck to be all it can be when it came off the lot in Alvin TX back in 1996 the greens faded to a nice shamrock green and I’ve never been able to give up that spiritual connection that I’ve had with it I’ll never give up on this truck as long as I can keep it going without breaking my bank or causing me to have to sacrifice anything
    sincerely , Seth Altman Fan of his 1996 Chevy Silverado 5.7l 350 smallblock vortec with the 460le tranny (which I replaced ,pain in my ass) and the gambit exhaust my uncle put within it and the timing chain and spider injector and everything I’ve fixed on it I love this thing and I’ll fight for it because I’ll never have another vehicle quite like it

      Well I am glad you've found this useful. YES, these Chevy Car/Trucks are very reliable and my Dad still have it and he's the original owner 1996. Also, it's over 300K on it and it's doing great. It starts up right away and now the moisture issues is gone. First, I did the Oil Catch Can, it caught a lot of Green Liquid... That would lead me to Head Gasket. Second, once I found that out.... And determine that it was the Head Gasket Leak.... We went out and bought Bar's Leak (I have Video in my Channel) and after putting it in, IT WORKED in an hour! Third, I am happy to report that the Car/Truck is in working order still. So far, Bar's Leak saved the Truck and my Dad use it everyday.

    If you look in the distributor under the rotor cap there's vent holes if they are clogged up your Cap will keep moisture the vent holes have screen in them clean it out for condensed moisture 👍

    Great video thx. I think that’s my problem, too. My 2022 Doge Ram 1500 shakes at 70 mph on highway, has white smoke from tailpipe, hesitating, dies while driving, and the like. I replaced the idle air temp sensor, the crankshaft sensor, the pvc valve and the pvc valve elbow, the thermostat, and yet it still won’t start, has hard starting issues or it’ll start n run for a good while n then dies out. Or start n run for a few seconds or just a few minutes n dies again. Then when I try to start it, it won’t start at all! Thanks for this video. I bought the distributor cap n rotor, spark plugs n wires. I still need to change them all out. If it fixes the problem I’ll post a video. I also bought a new fuel pump that I have t put on yet because the fuel pressure gauge says it’s within range. I’ll keep y’alll posted.

    If there is any liquid in your cap period,especially oil, your distributor shaft seal is bad. Change the whole distributor and yes make sure your crankcase is vented and works.

    recently my car is not being start in the rainy days so when i checked the distributor cap i thought that there was a moisture so i just light up the inside terminals lightly for a moment than start eventually it got started i discuss this with a near by mechanic so he advised me to check weather the oring/or seal of the distributor cap is present or not it will stop the moisture to enter but when i searched on internet i came to know that that particular seal/oring is for oil not moisture though my car is not causing problem because rainy days our over but i still want to know should i change the distributor cap or not and where is this oring/seal of distributor cap is intalled between the cap and the distributor because it does not seem so because cap is flat.Please advise

    So I have the whole rainy day no start problem thing to...
    Today I took the distributor off cleaned it up with the vinegar...
    Used carb cleaner with the straw to try and clean out the small vent holes underneath the cap rotor button..
    I didn't drill them out like some people say because it looked like I was able to clean it real good spraying from underneath and on top..
    And visually they looked pretty clean..
    I will try to come back and update this if it works good got to wait for some rain and it won't take long with the satanic cabal controlling the weather making it rain all the time now

    • @JodBronson
      @JodBronson  2 місяці тому +1

      After learning this..... It could be your Head Gasket has small Coolant Leaks. when it rains, too much moisture + leaks it create MORE moisture which creates hard starts. HOW TO KNOW... Go onto the Highway and drive over 60MPH and if the Car/Truck shakes a lot, it's more likely that is what happening. TEST this and then tell me what happens later, I may be able to assist you further!

      @JodBronson ok.if it still does it again.im going to also make sure my pvr is there and working correctly..
      Haven't checked it yet after 27 years 🤔
      Pretty sure I know it's that hose plugged into the valve cover but I unplugged mine and it just looks like a black hose that plugs in the hole but no valve is there maybe it broke off in the hole I don't know I'm going to check it out later 🤔

      @@JodBronsonbeen getting super insane hard rain and so far my truck cranks up every time like the rain is not a problem anymore...
      So cleaning it up really good and spraying those screens (two tiny vent holes under the roter button)with the brake cleaner or whatever it was underneath and above after taking off the distributor cap and rotor and making sure all the light green or yellowish film was cleaned off of everything..
      So it might have been a fix but it might come back soon🤔 maybe I do need the cheap PVR valve still have to investigate that.
      But all that cleaning including the air holes vents definitely 100% did something because I've never had my truck running so good with all this hard rain and starts every time for a long time.

    Also sir I’ve been reading that gm never let out a formal recall on the gaps for the spark plugs and it was just sent as notice on the plug wire boxes but these trucks spark plugs need to be gapped to 0.40 not 0.60 please correct me but that’s what I’ve been reading up on al night

    • @JodBronson
      @JodBronson  5 років тому +1

      The Spark Plugs Gap doesn't really matter as much... But as Standard or Factory will be fine. Here is what you need to do.... Go to the Auto Store and get yourself NEW Spark Plug Wires.... Make sure to spend a bit EXTRA for GOOD Quality! I promised you, it will be ALL worth the money for the Wires. *NOTE: PAY ATTENTION to the Wire that come out from your IGNITION COIL MODULE.... That would also the culprit of Power Loss during Highway or 75MPH+ ride SHAKING!*

      Ahh I see but that I don’t have a problem with it’s mostly that the cap and rotor foul out and then when I go to take it off it’s full of crusty corrosion and I replace it multiple times a year

      @@ezioac12359 - If you have " Rusty / Corrosion ".... Most likely, you have COOLANT Head Gasket Damaged, I mentioned that in the Video. Do you see WHITE SMOKE or LIQUID DRIPPING FROM TAIL PIPE? If YES, then you have small Coolant Gasket Leaks. Here is what I did and I mentioned that in the " Description ". I went to Walmart and bought Bar's Leak Head Gasket Repair. Oil catch can isn’t the issue, the issue is you removed your pcv valve, I recommend running fuel hose from pcv valve to inlet on oil can and the outlet to the plenum. And if distributor gets oil in it then yes you may need a new one, but in some cases the oil will run across the bottom and not come in contact with any electrical material, which in that case just replace the seals.
