0:00 Intro
0:05 The mechanics cleaned up the engine (took half the day), performed 2 engine flushes, and said afterward it ran a lot better! This happened almost 2 years ago and the car is still driven to this day without any issues. The engine in this vehicle is a diesel engine and is known for people using vegetable/cooking oil as a diesel fuel substitute, so maybe the customer thought they could use it in their engine as well.
0:25 Leaking coolant reservoir on a VW that the customer tried to fix. The coolant reservoir got replaced.
0:37 The mechanic said this is the weirdest thing he has ever come across, and just randomly saw the snake. Once the snake came out, he grabbed it and moved it somewhere safer. This was on a huge industrial size water pump.
0:48 No extra info was given.
0:57 The customer routed the brake hose right over the new exhaust. Luckily the mechanic caught this before it melted through the brake hose.
1:04 A very thing brake rotor that came off a customer's vehicle. They had a complaint of their brakes were noisy.
1:08 Cooper coat/copper anti-seize shouldn't be used on brakes, and definitely not over the brakes and caliper like this.
1:17 A fake brake rotor and caliper "kit" that was installed on a customer's car who also had 2 wheel spacers installed on each corner.
1:22 Whoever installed the head gasket put silicone on the head gasket. Head gaskets never require silicone on them and should be installed however the manufacturer recommends them to be installed.
1:29 The technician re-installed the ground cable to the appropriate spot (as the customer thought it was a ground issue). Then found the vehicle needed a new starter as it would only engage sometimes.
1:41 The technician said: "Holden VZ ute in Australia. Came in as they had trouble turning. The steering rack mount was snapped off the k-frame next to the steering column. The second mount was missing the rubber allowing the rack to slide. The steering column hitting the exhaust or engine block was the only thing keeping it together." The worn-out tires are due to the steering rack being broken as well as the alignment being off.
1:56 The mechanic said he removed all the cigarettes and put them in a plastic bag for the customer. The customer did not mention/say anything.
2:03 A vehicle that a technician had to work on.
2:09 The technician mentioned an EGR tube and fuel line broke as well when the transmission case cracked. None of it is covered under warranty since a new clutch was denied the last time it came in (even if it was by the previous owner).
2:33 Only need 1 air filter for an engine like this. The mechanic said he had a good laugh.
2:38 A piece of plastic got stuck in the throttle body so the engine kept revving which caused the catalytic converter to get very hot! The technician filmed this so they had proof of what the other shop did. The customer said he was going to take it back there, but never updated them if they did or not.
2:53 Not the best way to clean a car.

Between the hidden compartment, the snake in the radiator, and the cooking oil, this is one of the better episodes I've seen in a while. Never change.

Mechanics work with their hands. The good ones use their brains also. Most of the mechanics now just replace whatever the scan tool indicates. Not many actually diagnose the problem.

Sounds like the beginning to a dope boy anthem 😂😂😂
Back in the sixties we had a 57 Chevy 283 come in with good oil pressure when cold, but none when it warmed up. The customer recently had a mechanic friend completely rebuild the engine. We thought it might have a defective oil pump, but when we dropped the pan we found a paper bag. As the oil thinned the bag would get sucked into the pickup screen and drop the pressure to nil. We all wondered if they were still friends.
The level of confidence that comes with ignorance is amazing 😂
2:09 if they took the trade knowing the condition of the Jeep and as they were driving it away post trade it blew up, that has to be one of the best power plays ever by a customer knowing the piece of crap card that said customer originally had.
The alternative is “sorry you’re just over the 3 year 50,000 mile warranty, but the good news us we can do everything for $6,500 in about 3 weeks” Im glad she dumped that turd, no way that should be happening to a 3 year old car with 50k miles, especially how much $ they shaft people for jeeps
@@kingssuck06 If that was a manufacturing defect, I agree. Clutches are wear items, though, and it's possible that the driver just destroyed it.
@@j_taylor Yes a worn clutch causes a massive fissure in the casing
The clutch would have been replaced for free under the recall.
Those techs that found that compartment better keep their situational awareness on high alert for the next few yrs, if that was a powder in those bricks, that was millions of dollars.
Can you imagine the level of stupidity it takes to not have unloaded all that before you took a vehicle for repairs/ inspection work?? I feel bad for the mechanics that wasn't their fault for finding it as they were doing what they are paid to do. My guess is the owner of said vehicle probably got a healthy sentence over that.
Well as the person narrating said it was towed away by the police. The drugs were probably burned and the owner is in jail for a very very long time considering how much cocaine/heroin that was.
@@PCgamer923 You're assuming the police could prove the owner knew about it. The owner might have just bought the car. Perhaps form an impound lot.

I give a thumbs up to the owner @2:12 with the clutch issue recall who traded it in on something else. Very smart lol. I can tell you about a cousin of mine who is not with us any more, but many years back ago took his nice running and in fairly good condition chevy pick up truck into the dealer had them check it out for trade in, put it in writing what they give him for in trade. Then a few days later after he dam near total it and it was over heating really badly, manged to drive it back into the dealer and park it in the back lot, go see the original sales person and drive out with a sign contract on a new truck....lol. Older diesels are known for using vegetable oil and cooking oil with no issues, i'm not sure they meant as lubricant though
Exactly what I was thinking. Especially those cars. I wonder if the customer got confused with that.
Technically, Rodolph Diesel made his engines to run off of peanut oil, but petroleum based oils were cheaper and slightly better for performance. Mythbusters confirmed other previous tests, that most vegetable oils can be used as fuel in diesel engines with about 10% lower power and fuel economy at best. Now with higher state and federal diesel taxes, the economic part of the equation is more debatable than ever. However, the diesel fuel is still better on the airborne emissions front than the alternative.

What's scares me is the brakes worn to nothing. Makes you wonder how many people you travel on the roads with every day have brakes like that.
Makes me glad we have yearly checks here. Mechanic has to strap a thing to the brake pedal. Take it for a drive, get up to speed then hit the brake. The thing attached to the pedal measures the force applied to the pedal which has to be under some amount and the deceleration of the car which has to be over some value in order to pass the test. They also check tyres lights and wipers. Normally costs about $30 for the check.

The right one was new, but the left one was just painted with nothing else done to the friction surface. And the customer was furious that i didn't approve his vehicle for another 2 years, and stated that his brakes were new as he changed them himself. I just gave him a weird stare and said "Right, yea. Left, you have just painted left". We stood there for seconds in awkward silence before he stated there was only one brakedisc available in our city. My service advisor went to the computer and told him after one minute that there was several discs at the parts store in the same building. The customer then agreed to him buying the part and that I changed the disc. But extreme examples like those in these videos are rare in Norway.
