I always play the Owen Defense as black, so I was very happy to see this game! Some people consider it dubious, but it gets people out of book very quickly and is very hard to refute over the board. Cool to see Owen defeat no less than Paul Morphy with it, although I do think in this case that was largely because Morphy underestimated Owen's skill.
On 6:25, after ... O-O, should be Ng5! placing immediate Mate threat on Qxh7. After ... g6 to prevent Checkmate, then follows Qh3 with mate threat on h7. Black then defends with ... h5. This is superbly countered by White with g4!!
I would love to see the two games played between Morphy/Barnes and Staunton/Owens, it would be very interesting to see how well they are able to cooperate 🙂
