    I've never had issues beat matching by just nudging and listening and or watching waveform... but that was cool how you did it ONLY using tempo fader. The concept of beatmatching immediately made sense to me before I even had my first dj gear. So I didnt think of all the ways it could be done. Always learn something new watching you. I forget how many djs start djing and never studied basic music production. I love how you are in tune with that reality. It makes you an exquisite teacher bro. I have plenty to learn, as we all do. My weird thing I struggle with is song selection. It's so dumb. I have a complex where I try to read the crowd, but still feel like the next song I drop is not gonna be the one they want. Its dumb af lol. I practice my technical skills every day. But mid gig I be like... "aw I just played this song and realized it's played out." Lol. And it messes with me. Then I decide to jump genres and question that too lol.

      Glad I can definitely provide a new outlook on things as you continue progressing in your DJ journey man! I’m literally the same way when I find new things.. I’m like wow, never would have thought to do it this or that way. Always humbling and cool! And yes, the music production background helped me tremendously!
      And ahah, mannnn. That’s some serious truth you’re speaking. I think we all go through that, even high level DJs. Maybe some never doubt themselves, but I think we all do at some point or another.
      I just tell myself that “every single song” can’t be a hit, because it’s just not possible aha. And even if so, people would eventually get tired of being on the dance floor. But I think at the end of the day, as long as our crowd reading skills are good, then we’re good! The doubt is a human trait, but hey, we still push through and way more often than not, the song does well!

    Or when you’re beat matching with the REV 7 or Rane One, you can use the pitch bend buttons to speed up or slow down the record.

    Been really getting to grips with mixing a lot of 70s Funk lately, that shizzle all over the place tempo wise but its awesome practice to mix that stuffs, pretty hard to blend beyond a couple of Bars but phrasing and dropping on the 1 ect really gets you to trust your ears and the feels not what the screen is telling you. Hard yes but Hella loads of fun man :)

      Couldn’t agree more man!! Def had to blend beyond a few bars. I always try to mix in September and ride the platter the entire time and usually have to restart it a few times ahah.
      Definitely fun though!! 💯

      playing 70s funk is the best, my fav... also as tempos aren't acccurate with real drummers and non quantized beats for practice, i would often pick two diff songs and just try to keep them in time (similar beat range) from start to finish like the example , then change the tempo and beatmatch them back in time again on the fly, then grab another song and do the same thing, ride the pitch.. when i was learning we would do this technique with on serato and turn laptop screen down, then change the pitch, and ya homie gotta getit back in time .... it will sound likea garbled mess but will train you ears.... its a great practice lil drill.... and yeah when u get songs like september you know the start is faster so you just allow for it... so much fun!!! enoy

      and then u can incorporate the two techniques together, if u start train wrecking a funk mix, just grab a snare on one of the songs and scratch it up a lil so you're back on beat! long life the funk bb

    Great video Bro…also a tip--half of 141 bpm is 70.5 and you should be able to beat match as well.

    Very helpful video thank you. I'm very Old Skool, So Vinyl has always been my thing. But I'm moving over to digital LOL 😆
    Whats decks would you recommend for scratching?

    • @DJLiftOFF
      @DJLiftOFF  2 роки тому +1

      I feel you mann ahah, there’s nothing like vinyl! I have nothing but respect for DJ culture!
      In terms of moving to digital, I honestly HIGHLY recommend the rane’s. They’re the closest thing to turntables that I’ve experienced.

    • @cantfindafeckinid
      @cantfindafeckinid 2 роки тому

      Could also use phase on your turntables instead man, that way you can play digital using them
