Yep. Took me years and years to even grasp it living in a small town with no friends who cared to talk with , no one near me who even owned tables , no internet. People really just don’t know
Haha, I just turned 39 and I'm gonna learn to scratch now, despite having been playing vinyl for 19 years. I blame it on having a wobbly table for decades.
I JUST INVENTED A NEW SCRATCH,,ive never seen anyone use it before. for real!!!!! Omg i wanna share it with the world. Basically, on my 1200s, i use my left thumb and pointer to hit the target light while i scratch to get really sharp cuts! So happy i practiced today. It sounds soooo good!!
For the record if She is whom I think she is her part in the "Scratch" documentary always like the vibe between her and her man seemed a little intense. Glad to see her in a better place.
Yes, it's me. Same person in SCRATCH with my (now) husband, DJ Faust. For the record (pun intended), we were fine back then so no need to worry, lol, and we're still together now... almost 30 years together! The couple that scratches together stays together. ❤🥰🥰❤
Thanks so much for this workout I'm an over the road trucker practicing on a Stanton STX the 1200s and Rane 70 are home I've been on the turntables for years I consider myself OK but I really want to be clean having issues with crabs and flares but I'm determined to get it thanks Shortee
I really appreciate you taking your time to make this tutorial. I wish this was available back in the 90’s and trying to learn and guess how to do the scratches. Now I’m almost 50 and finally learning how to scratch properly. Thank you.
I got the 72 last year and it's by far one of the best battle mixers ever made; if you're on the fence about getting one I’d suggest going for it. It'll enhance your skills...also kindly remember for those starting out and possibly using Serato/Traktor and such to keep in mind DJ’N is an “auditory” medium so develop the art & skill through hearing and do not get “stuck” staring at waveforms.
@@mazusub8182 Both are amazing mixers but preference is completely relative to each individual's unique needs. @@djshortee you, grandmaster F, q-bert, d-styles, and Sid Wilson - are the reason why I even started to scratch at the first place! Thank you! I hope that one day I'll be able to pass the craft to at least the fraction of kids that you manage to inspire.
Glad you dig it! You should def stick to vinyl only then. Like you, I also prefer the sound of scratching with vinyl and also that there isn't any latency so it's much easier for me to scratch with analog in general. Unfortunely, starting out in 1995 and Djing with on vinyl for many years before DVS was even invented, these days I find vinyl-only sets very limiting in terms of what I'd like to be able to accomplish creatively so it's a catch 22 for me. Moral of this story: Do what works best for you! ❤

I have been using this video daily for months now to practice, learn and improve my scratching and I am definitely making progress (all be it slowly, scratching is hard to learn!). This video is great and I should have said so aaaages ago! Thankyou DJ Shortee you're an absolute legend and my favourite DJ for tutorials hands down!❤❤❤
