    The thing that people don’t understand about conversions is that it only takes it at face value and of the distance changes. It doesn’t equate the tiring of the muscles nor does it take into account that you can swim faster underwater and more of a yards swim is done underwater than above the surface

    There’re so many kids engaging in competitive swimming nowadays in China, many public schools built swimming pools and added swim lesson for students, usually those swimming pools are open to public during summer break, and passing the swim test is a must for graduating for some schools. Many swimmers retired from national team become coach and founded swim clubs to train young swimmers. Swimming has been so popular among kids and youth for about 20 years.

    Swimming all of sudden illustrates how actual evolution works. If you think about it - just about 30-40 years ago humans just barely started to learn about techniques and speed in swimming. Now after just few generations we see how everyone out of nowhere are breaking the records.
    Similar can be said about motoracing - where kids of professional drivers are demonstrating skill and technique that sometimes are just incomprehensible.

    • @liamp1
      @liamp1 7 місяців тому +1

      Humans are also getting stronger in the case of swimming and smarter (to build faster cars and have better techniques) in the case of motor sports.

    • @vgfjr505
      @vgfjr505 Місяць тому

      40 years ago I remember watching videos of swimming techniques.I think you have to go further than that, perhaps to the 1960s since a lot of the drag concepts were known by the 1950s.
      A lot of what has changed are the rules, especially what is allowed after flip turns. The rules are more permissive today, and make for faster times. Also, you have to take into account that pools today are much faster than 40 years ago. There were no empty lane 1 and 10, and water drainage systems weren’t as efficient as the ones in today’s pools to reduce choppy water during the race. I would say the ideas of trailing swimmers to reduce drag is a relatively more modern technique.

    Expensive, high-tech, and infinitely low-resistance artificial skins not only prevent players from backward and poor countries from obtaining equal competitive rights, but also lose the natural meaning of the human body to challenge the limits. So it is right that swimsuits such as shark skin are banned, and records created using those artificial objects will not be recognized.

      Last time someone lower the WR by 0.4 seconds or more was in the 1970s. One would expect that with time the amount by which records fall is exponentially decaying. Indeed that’s what the WR data shows, except this last record. So, yes, it makes some wonder.
