You don't mention what number the jig is set at ,or which hole is used , thinking you should have explained more

Those numbers and sets are all dependent on the length of the tool and the angle you wish to get. That's why the angle master from Tormek is one of the most handy setters out there. www.woodworkingshop.com/product/TM02200/

I sharpen my tools with a used bench grinder that cost $16.. (and converted it for belt sanding) tormec is nice but why spend sooooo much money to get the same results as you can for $20

Because of all the jigs. Tormek offers jigs for precise, repeatable sharpening. Also, you can never lose the temper on tool steel with water-cooled slow speed sharpening.
