- CABOVER Rescue! GMC Astro gets a second chance.
Get your cup of coffee, easy chair and log books and watch
as we pull this 1973 GMC Astro 8V-71 13 speed from its 15 year old grave.
This one's in surprisingly great shape! Part 1 sees it towed home and getting a fresh bath for a great start in this series. - Авто та транспорт
I am really glad to see you save on this old rig. To many of them are being broke up for parts or scrapped these days. When they're gone, they're gone, and every one of them saved is a win for everyone that loves old trucks.
I agree ..... hey, trucks are people too! 😂
Hello Dane trucker lounge thanks for saving bluejay another piece of amercia history saved by dane trucker lounge🚛👈👍
I applaud your efforts to rescue these historical vehicles sir👏
Thanks Brad
YEZ ZIR ANOTHER ORPHAN SAVED BYE A HELLA GOOD DAD. THANKS DANE FOR OPENING UP YOUR HOME FOR ALL THESE LOST KIDS. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Lol, thanks Darrell. Hey! Perhaps you can babysit from time to time. 😂
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE any time any time
Dane you have a couple fine examples of the astro there! Looking forward to seeing and hearing bluejay come to life!
So glad you saved that Astro.
Blue jay cleaned up really nice. Something told me you were gonna end up with this beauty. If that truck could talk. It would be thanking you for saving her and giving her a bath
Excellent Save Dane, the paint still looks really good. Can’t wait to see the rest of the restoration process on “Blue Jay”. See ya on the next one.👍
Love to see this astro roll again and have a second chance to live again
That's the right name for the blue astrow good luck buddy
Good show sir. Had a new Astro in 1978 and also in 1982. Both Cummins. 290 and 300. Glad to see you save it. Drove last one till 1987. Great old truck. Good old days.
Hat tipped to you Driver!😬👍
That astro is a beauty for sure
Very nice job of saving another tractor can't wait to see it on the road again have a good week Dane
Thanks, you too!
Very good looking Jimmy. Very pretty paint scheme.
It reminds me of today's when my dad had one that had them stupid bus mirrors on the front of it but it's nice to see and old trucks back to life thank you very much
I think 69 was the only year they used them. I actually like those. Lol
That was definitely a must save project. Love the FWD.
Looks like a darn good "starter restoration project"
I love that shade of blue
Appears to have cleaned up nice, work your magic and will be a sweet ride for sure👍
Every time I open Chrome I go to UA-cam immediately to see if you uploaded any videos for this gem; this time I struck the jackpot!
So glad to assist your addiction Dwight! Lol😂thanks for watching
She cleaned up nice!
Someone needs to save that Brockway. That is a cool old truck.
Wow that cleaned up really nice , looking forward to this restoration
That paint scheme is AWESOME!!!
Can't wait to see it all spruced up! She's a nice one and all complete too!
Nice! After the wash, it looks real good. Looking forward to the restoration.
Dane, thank you for saving that old girl. When I saw that first video I was hoping it would be gone before I got there. To many projects now, LOL.
Man I’m starting to know that feeling lol!😂
A pretty cool GMC good to see you save it
My God she cleans up nice!!
Oh boy what a beauty you have there 😍 it's beautiful the way it is ❤
Just got to get it running and all dolled up lol.😬
I'm so glad you went back for that Astro! It's a great truck. Congrats! 🎉
Terrific save Dane, glad you were able to get this beauty
Breaks my heart t see nice old iron sitting and rotting away especially when there are guys like me that busted their ass's to get a truck but was never able to afford to get one. That Asto will make for great truck again.
These old gals are pretty reasonable in this condition usually. After the "spruce up" work it's a different story lol.
That cleaned up nice. Good save.
Congrats Dane , I knew you were going to get it.
Congrats, Dane, on your new purchase! Can not wait for the rehab.
Great save don't look in to bad of shape.
WOW! what a beauty!
What a beaut. I remember seeing this one before.
Let’s see this rebuild not just the before and after shots the whole thing. Dane your doing a great job saving this old gems.
I hope to make it a series so you’ll get it all. Thanks
Bluejay is looking good. I'll be watching to see how she turns out.
Nice coe truck. Thats some wrecker tow truck too.
Great Find. Cleaned Up Like a Brand New Penny. Good Luck with the Restoration. Looking forward to seeing the Progress. 👍🇺🇸😎
Love that astrow buddy hope you get it good luck have a great week end an your family buddy
Love to see this Astro roll again. These GMC Astro/ Chevy Bison trucks are becoming an endangered species on the highway.
They became that long ago unfortunately 😔. Thanks for watching
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE you're welcome!
Them daytons gonna be fun to take off
But so stinkin retro cool looking.... it’s worth it. Lol
Nice trucks always thought they were ahead of their time inside looks similar to GMC palm beach my behind the wheel nice taste in rigs I must say cheers Dane to the new acquisition
Oh man I knew you couldn't pass up that ASTRO , can't wait to see how nice it's gonna be when you're done with it
I knew you were going to buy this one. It looks a lot better already with just getting pressure washed. Will definitely be watching the progress.
Great purchase
Outside is cleaning up really good.
Fantastic work I just love american trucks thay are the best we have quite a lot of them over here 👍from the uk
Thanks John, Glad you guys can enjoy them as well.
Nice brother this truck looks really nice too!!! Amazing video!
I just realized it has a wet line on it. I drove a dump with a Mack attached to it for a O/O. 13 speed with a cummins. I don't know how he set it up but 80 with 32 tons in the trailer was no problem. Love those Astros. Thanks for the shot of that Brockway👍👍
Awesome Russ, yes I may remove and sell the wet line. I thought you’d get a jolt outta that triaxle Wolverine. 😜👍
I like what you’re doing Dane. I’d love to find a General in the worst way, 8V92 of course.
Astro’s are cool. I remember years ago when I was a kid our neighbor drove a gold one
Hey Dane, starting your own all Astro museum lol. Nice looking paint scheme on bluejay, and alcoa's on the front with a few chrome goodies, good deal. Taker easy bud.....
Looks to be in excellent condition for sitting so long. No rust that I can see from the video. Great score Dane!!
Really nice.
The first truck I drove over the road
I had a 72 Astro I use as a rock truck in Florida I see that it has a wet line on it to be a money maker now if it has a Detroit and a 13 speed that would be outstanding
Oh ya!
Beautiful. Go going.
I love the old cracker box jimmys
I knew that was an FWD straight away and I'm from Australia. They were a bit like Oshkosh in a way making ugly looking trucks that do very important tasks.
Great effort Dane, It's such a feel good channel this one. I reckon he might save that Brockway as well.
Thanks for watching from “down under” my friend. Ya he was trying to save them all lol. Comes a time when you have to do something or lose it all.
Nice👍😎👍 I'm in Pennsylvania as well over in the Poconos.
The Astro is fine for sure. But I was diggin' on the FWD. I want to drive THAT!
It’s a beast!!!
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE I drove an Osh Kosh dump once. Really fun.
Looks good can't wait to see what you do to it
Love the color. Bet the Astro was a beauty in its heyday going down the road. Saw a many myself way back then.
Where it was parked I would have been concerned wondering if there were copperhead snakes slumbered in there!!
Glad another piece of Americana is saved.
The wrecker sounds old school itself as engines from new stuff don't whistle like that anymore.
I know, we were watching carefully but thankfully no snakes or even bugs. Yes that hook is an 83.
Awesome to see you got it home now the work begins oh and you might need a bigger barn lol
I know right?
Awesome 👍
Well that is absolutely exciting! The paint on that truck really looks good. I wonder if they just painted the truck and parked it.
Very cool............. 👍👍
I was hoping you was gonna take that astro home. 👌
See how ya are!😂
Awesome content, from a old western Pa guy , been living in Florida for the last 20 years
Nice save nice on the new Astro, did not get to watch it until today cause I was at Geneva Truck show, got my coffee mug, and got to meet you, keep it between the ditches
Thanks John, Nice to meet you and I appreciate the support. Cerni Motors is next Aug 20. 😬👍
Awesome find buddy...looks nice cleaned up....definitely a keeper...I used pinesol and dawn liquid soap in my soap blaster when I cleaned up my general from out of the barn..couldn't believe how well it worked....keep going can't wait till the new batteries go in her for the start up...and free up the racks....be safe and take care
Hopefully it’ll be a runner, we will do all the proper prep first though. This truck just looks proportionally perfect and has all the right features. Can’t wait to get her going . Thanks Ed
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE awesome yes its better to overprep one that's been sitting than to have a run away Detroit on your hands...great find and good luck..
Amazing
Lmao I knew you wouldn't let that ASTRO get away from you 🤣 . I don't blame you one bit for getting BlueJay it looks like a pretty nice find. Can't wait to see the progress
Dane your out of control lol but i love it keep up the good work
I need therapy lol! StickArounTown :)
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE You've got classic GMC fever. I'm not sure if there is a cure...! or if you would even want it if it does exist!
I'm guessing that Brockway is a late 60s early 70s rig.... Hopefully she'll get saved one day.... Would look great at the annual Brockway show in the Homer-Cortland NY area!!
Congrats on the "" NEW BUCKET "" DANE , that's an Awesome piece to the collection , I wonder if the stripes are factory or added later , looks like a KW paint design with some vareation for the Astro cab lines , regardless NICE LOOKING RIG , as always Thanks for bringing us along ,👍👍👍👍
Yep, definitely not factory scheme. Very custom to that truck.
I thought the same thing on the paint scheme. Very distinct. Great Save Dane jus WOW!!!
Man.... you gotta get that Brock and put you an old bathtub Clement behind it
Ok, that ones beyond my capabilities lol.
Love your show!
Those brockways were heavy built like autocars
Looks great already!
Amazing what a power washer can do lol.
That two tone factory paint along with the sun visor and front wheels are nice. Likely someone's baby once. Check the kingpins after that tow.
You bet!👍
She was beautiful all dirty, she Stunning all cleaned up.
Dane for all of us that would to save 1 of these cool old trucks, but are unable Thanks. "Blue Jay" looks to be a great find.
Speaking of Brockways. There is a video on my channel of the Brockway display at the Syracuse Nationals this past weekend . Feel free to check it out as well as my other videos when you get a chance. Thanks and enjoy!!
I will Tom thanks.
I liked
Thankyou for watching 😊👍
She looks great considering how old she is and how long she has been sitting. The paint looks great. It is the one thing that I have always loved about cabover paint designs and, she looks much better than just about anything on the road today. With the exception of a KW 900 or Peterbilt 379 paint design. Everything else just looks plain. Can't wait to see what she looks and sounds like after the restoration is done.
Me too!😬
You really have chosen a smart looking truck, all the better for being an earlier Astro and just a bit different from your green/white one . I like it that you guys can tell the difference between restore and customise. Will you go back for the blue white? You seemed to be well keen on it.
I didn't care for it at first because it's not a factory scheme, however its grown on me so I'll leave it and freshen it up. My son already named it because it's blue and says "Jays" on it thus the "BlueJay" name. So there you have it....it's decided. lol
Hey Dane I’ve have figured the new bucket would’ve been the single axle white the way you talked about it
I’m a sucker for these Jimmies lol.
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE I’m a gmc man myself
Now you need a general to complete your collection.
Sweet! When was she last on the road?
It was drivin to that spot and not started since 15 years ago! lol.
If the Brockway triaxle you slower has a Cummins or detroit under the hood and the owner would consider selling it please let me know, we’ve already got two steel bed tandem Brock’s and me and my buddy would very interested in that truck!! Those old PA coal haulers with big aluminum beds make great asphalt trucks because usually the beds are in really good shape having hauled just coal at 73.280 gross most of their life.
PM me on Facebook.
Dane to the rescue! Love that Brockway...please tell me it's not for sale!
Ohhhhh but it is ... it is...😜
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE you’re killing me Dane, killing me! 😀
I'd like to have one of the original Astros with the Turban engine from theģ70s
Keep the stack that are there just little tall
Learned on a 78 astro in driving school many years ago no power steering or ac
Hat tipped buddy, you lived it for real.👍
Thanks love your show
Blue Jay looks great. I really liked the single axel white also. Any idea what they are asking fir it?
No but they’re motivated to sell it all.
Restauración original please!!!
