I love what you do. It's so exciting watching you and your partner getting things done. Can't wait to see the house get done. Now this truck and engine. You have so much experience and knowledge of everything you do. I'm from Vancouver BC Canada. Keep up the good work......
I had a 280 Cummins on the early 90s . They erected very fuel sensitive if the system has an air leak or the fuel filter starts to clod with s++t they will either loose power or stop altogether I know from experience! The fuel gauge was reading 1/4 fuel but was empty, ran out of fuel on a motorway (UK) called out tow truck and the driver was useless and didn’t know anything about Cummins. All he wanted to do was tow me off the motorway to a garage 20 miles away . No way was I doing that ! So , I taught him how to bleed the system and left him scratching his head , disappointed he didn’t get the towing charge . These engines are pretty bulletproof if you take care of them.
Subbed. I really liked that you did both the recovery of the International, the engine assessment, the take out and a good part of the swap in one video. I would have saved that INTL cab and put it on top of the storage box. Looks like no corrosion, and it's classic.
I wonder if a pile of old tires might have given the cab a softer landing, or some kind of rope restraint. I would sell the cab or part it out to help other COE's get or stay on the road. Same for the engine. If I could have removed the oil pan and replaced rod bearing in the frame, I would have done so, but now that it's out, it can be sold to someone else who wants to do it, and sold intact with no rod smashed through the side of the block
That unit has a ton of good parts. Putting it back on the road is very doable. I don’t believe it will cost much as you think. I’ve done a lot of restorations and this is a good unit to do so. I do love the Louisville’s. The LTS as a dump truck is my all time fav. I would take a Louisville any day over a Pete or Kenny.
It depends how much money is worth to a person, and if THEY even want the truck. Because yes they restore it, and they just don't like the truck. Too expensive and not worth it

Johnhanson4795 your bringing back lots of memories. I’m 65 so I’ve worked on and driven lots of Cornbinders. My brother in law had an Eagle with a 400 Big Cam and 13 speed. I always liked that truck. Specially those chrome air cleaner covers
I enjoyed watching this. Getting the engine is quite the accomplishment. You making it look so easy. I know nothing about engines period. Look forward to part two.
Definitely a 350 (855) Big Cam Cummins. The box on the left side of the engine indicates it's a Big Cam right off the bat. Definitely worth saving this 4070, but you have a lot of work cut out for you. Didn't help that someone smashed the drivers side glass allowing rodents to make a home in the cab. Also, don't throw an empty filter on the fuel system. Fill them up first. You're just inducing air into the fuel system.
@@timothyhill9146 Do you have any idea how much it would cost to restore that thing? By the time you get done you would have more than twice what it's worth in it. A Kenworth, or Pete would be a better choice. And a truck in better condition to start with.
My dad was a mechanic with Akers Motor Lines in Charlotte, NC from 1950 to 1972 - i remember when these Transtars(tandem axle, OTR) first came into service with the company, in either Akers gloss white or fire engine red. Beautiful trucks.

Well, I think the International COE would be better with a roll on/roll off trash container bracket on the chassis in case for using the vehicle on certain jobs. It just needs an extra tandem axle, the chassis stretched to fit the roll on/roll off bracket, and a good paint job.
We have a single axle at work and still run 30 yard boxes with it. The cabover would shorten the wheelbase to the absolute minimum. If the frame is long enough, it would be perfect

Entertaining video. But some observations: 6:40 NEVER jerk on a chain like that to pull a stubborn object, especially if the chain looks way too small for the job like that one was. 26:50 You need to pull an engine forward, not up, enough to get the trans shaft out of the clutch. Which led to chain-break #2. 31:20 Standing on a sloped muddy surface, standing on the chain, wrestling that radiator, was a great way to lose balance and fall backward due to the back wall of the bucket. Especially if that radiator had slid down toward your feet. 32:46 As you want to reuse this engine, you should've removed the fan and clutch so they didn't get damaged during the less-than-graceful engine removal. Fans should be respected so they don't fail later on from being bent, etc. 33:50 Making multiple legs of chain doesn't increase the capacity when multiple legs of chain have slack and are carrying no load. 36:07 Don't beat on a socket/extension with a mini-sledge, use a piece of steel pipe or large nut or something. Hand tools like that can shatter from impact, so at least wear some safety glasses? 42:18 Should've greased that pilot bushing while it was right in front of you. And the throwout bearing, too. glad i hooked on mate im very keen to hear her fire up in the new body
My thought also was that the cab would go great on top of the container; make a great observation post. It would also make a first class ice shack. just sayin'...
Dude, the ice shack idea would be freakin awesome!
@@99Projects Or a deer stand
Great job!! 🎉
You are brave walking through that thick growth around this truck! Watch for ticks!
I started driving in 88 with Schneider with one of their 84 barnyard Cadillacs without power steering that was a treat you sure didn’t over steer backing that huzzie up lol
Just wow! Cool video👍🏾
Thank you
9:02 Texting and bulldozer clutching!!! Feeling cute, might call OSHA later 😂
😂😂😂😂😄
Whatched the whole video brother and subbed great stuff man👍
Awesome thanks man
Better get ready to change rearends too. You wont have enough road speed. Maybe 45 mph tops. Also youll no doubt be cutting the firewall in the cab. Because that cummins wont fit properly with clearance for radiator, fan. It can be done. But youll be doing alot of modifications. To cab and running gear
Yes I think they are cool too my late father drove a 1981 international transtar 2 cab over it was new at the time I was 17 years old when he got it new he drove for Seward motor fright
That’s cool man, I’d love to see photos of that. And if you’re interested I’ll put the pictures in the next video. send me a picture to my email if you’d like.
Said thing though cause the international still had potential, and what did you think would happen with truck in the woods? Sad!
It is wild the redemption of these diesel motors
Really Cool looking cab over.
You could take that cabin, put it on a dodge mega cab, Dooley frame with some stacks and pull your RV around
Awesome been waiting on the engine swap since the short clip.
It’s getting closer
Awesome vid. That truck was done, but the engine will live on!
Good channel sweet project 👍
Thank you
you need a alignment tool to put that clutches on or they will not lineup with the input shaft but while you have it off chang the pilot bearing!
If anything has to be scrapped let’s just all be thankful it’s an IH!!!! 😊
I’d love to see this back on the road
Clutch dust has asbestos fibers FYI.
That’s good to know. I’ll wear a mask in the future
Ha ha I remember the day when we used to blow the brake shoes out in the shop with an air gun and then get out of the truck and pull the clutches with no masks over our face. How dumb where we.
Maybe try to sell frame and cab for someone to restore .it's a truck that will never be around to see anymore in history .maybe Mr will gentry on his channel mite be interested.
Someone else’s suggest him too, I’ll have to see if I can get ahold of the guy
@@99Projects that would be awesome bro keep up the great work .I just came across your channel today.
You are....ummmm.....very resourceful. I gotta admit I mostly stayed tuned in because I thought you were going to do something cool with the Transtar. Bummer.
Thanks, itll still be cool when its done
This is a good truck
