    You know, it's not too often you come across a video channel that's worth watching. Have learned quite a bit from your videos. You're the real deal and would bring my carts to you every day of the week and twice on Sunday. One request that I would suggest and would probably speak for several ppl (troubleshooters) that watch your videos is doing a video of a complete diagnosis of an electric cart. In other words, when you get a cart in that doesn't move and no sound from a solenoid, what do you start with first? Check batteries first?...if good, then move onto solenoid for power? What readings should you be looking for to tell if it's good or bad? If that's good, then what would you move onto and what readings would be looking for? When you go through you diagnosis and it comes down to say....a forward/ reverse switch, how did you come to that conclusion? Thank you for the videos...they really are helpful.... at least for me. BTW, condolences and prayers about your father.

    Great video Kevin. You have risen to the top of my UA-cam celeb list, alongside Doug Demuro, Tyler Hoover, and his friend Car Wizard.
    I have an ‘89 Marathon with 2 stroke. Oil is adds to the gasoline (doesn’t have the automatic oil reservoir). I understand the ratio is 100:1 which i believe is 1oz per gallon. It’s a bit fumey and noisy, otherwise runs well. Am I correct?
    (Think the clutch is contributing to the noisy operation- especially at high speed.)
    You helped me the other day with a fuel issue (can’t run gas below 1/2 tank). The cap is not venting. I cannot find a replacement dip-tube anywhere. These are threaded into the tank - not grommeted.
    Should I check compression?
    Do the old 2-cycles have valves to adjust?
    I should probably clean the carb.
    Air filter and spark plug clean, new solenoid in.
    Am I missing anything else?

    I had read that some cheap Chinese spark plugs can damage coils on chainsaws. I wonder if the cheap plug, installed by the owner, damaged the coil. The initial problem might have been something simple like the fuel pump. By throwing parts at it, without actually diagnosing the actual problem, the owner may have done more damage than good. We’ll never know, but something owners should consider, before throwing parts at a problem.
    Good video showing how to diagnose the problem.

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  2 роки тому +1

      I think the original problem was a blocked carb. The customer told me that it wouldn't start so he did this and that. I probably could have cleaned the carb and it would be fine. By using cheapy chinese parts on Amazon or ebay, its now going to cost significantly more. The real kicker with these engines, there's a special clip that holds the throttle linkage to the carb. Aftermarket carbs don't come with it since its supposed to be transferred from the oem carb. Its only available from EZGO and its not cheap.

  • @jayf2487
    @jayf2487 2 роки тому +1

    arnt these motors pretty much identical to the fe350 that's in my club car? Also does that ground that you connected to the igniter run to the rev limiter? I've had issues with mine popping off before then I lost spark.

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  2 роки тому +2

      These are FJ400 engines. They aren't equipped with rev limiters, to my knowledge. The ground wire is tied into the stop relay. If it comes off, you won't be able to turn off spark since this shorts the coil to ground.

    I’m having issues with air in my fuel line between the carb and the fuel pump. I replaced both the fuel pump and carb but still have issues. It will run fine then will start being hesitant when accelerator is pressed to eventually getting air lock and turning over with no fire.

  • @steveharutunian5440
    @steveharutunian5440 Рік тому

    Kevin, any chance we could talk on the phone. Ive got an ezgo with a fj400d and it loses power under load when climbing a hill. I"ve changed all tune up parts and carburetor along with fuel pump and still loses power when under load. If i don't push the gas pedal to the floor it will continue to run seemingly normal at low rpm. I've ordered a coil and it should be here in the next three or four days. My question is will a coil sometimes fail under load and emit enough spark when not under load to run the engine up to proper RPM when not in gear? Look forward to hearing from you and that for the vid and consideration,,,Steve.

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  Рік тому

      Unfortunately, I don't offer any phone support. I just don't have the time for it. Ignition coils typcally work or don't. It sounds like you have a drivetrain issue. Without any information on the cart, I can't really offer any help. Is it lifted, oem belt, what year is it, 4 or 6 passenger, are you using ethanol free gas or just plain 87-93, are you on a lot of hills, flat, or mixed? There are too many variables to give a solid answer.

    • @steveharutunian5440
      @steveharutunian5440 Рік тому

      @@Kevinsgolfcarts Thanks for getting back to me Kevin. It’s a 2005, lifted, and the belt and clutch were replaced 4-5 yrs ago with a ezgo heavy duty “truck” clutch. I use regular ethanol gas and it’s a four seater. I’ve also checked the valves and they are within spec. Terrain is mostly flat with occasional hills and it always occurs on a steep incline. If it is a drive train issue then what part could it be. Hope to hear back and thanks again for your consideration

    I have a 2006 ezgo txt with the robins 295cc it won't keep the oil pump primed any advice

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  2 роки тому

      That's normal for the oil to drain back down to the sump. If its not building oil pressure, then the pump will need to be replaced. The pump is located behind an access cover behind the fan.

    With all your complaining about the ezgo cart ,you don't have to pull the motor or drill holes or even remove the filter to get to the coil,ezgo made the cover plastic ,so it bends ,all you have to do is take off carb ,undo the cover bolts at the top remove the large carb linkage cover bolt ,bend the cover back ,and now you have plenty of room to get to coil. Any mechanic knows that you install the coil over the magnet . And you did not think you installed the coil over the magnet ,as you stated you wanted the magnet away from the coil . But at least you admitted you made a mistake , a little tip for you ... Maybe think before you speak or complain ,it may make you look like an actual mechanic. .

    However, I watch most of your videos and for the most part you complain about something on every brand of cart! It is just who you are.

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  Рік тому

      None of them. They all break. Seriously though, its really hard to answer that question with a simple answer. I'd say the older stuff, regardless of brand, are all decent. Most of the new stuff has issues that are just dumb and are all made down to the lowest cost. Anything before 2008 and newer than 1996 is usually solid and easy to find parts for. As long as any of them are well maintained, don't have excessive rust, smoky engines, sloppy steering, weak brakes or any unusual sounds while driving should be easy to work on.
