When adjusting the valves on this type of engine. If you bring the piston up to tdc one valve is open and the other is closed. Is that how you adjust it ? I thought when you adjusted them they were suppose to be fully extended. I know the images in the manual shows the adjustment being made with the spring fully extended out ?
Starter generator is number 1 failure component on 13HP Kawasaki EZGO. it's too underpowered to crank this massive engine through the compression stroke. Telltale signs are it hanging on the compression stroke. The newest 2019+ models have sealed brushes. Have to replace entire starter generator. Ain't disposability grand?
More reinforcement for my hatred of EZGO. I was able to get my hands on a 2020 model with a 150cc....... yes, a 150cc engine. What a pile of useless trash this thing was. Even the old 2-stroke models from waaaaaay back were more powerful than this waste of space. This cart wouldn't get out of its own way. I was happy to give it back and never work on it again.
I want to get where I can fix my cart myself. LOL just want to make sure I am not being skunked. my cart is not pulling up hills. We were riding yesterday around the yard and it just stopped cranking. my dad looked at it and the ground wire on the battery was not crimped good but the brand new battery was dead?? I just spent 1500 dollars on it at the shop. right now we have the battery on the charger and hoping this will fix it with the crimping the ground wire good. My question is if the ground wire is corroded will it cause it to lose power on hills?
A bad battery connection will cause issues with cranking and charging. It has nothing to do with engine power. If the engine is losing power on hills, then you may have issues with fuel delivery, plugged up air filter, drive belt, clutches or compression. I would start with checking valve lash. They need to be adjusted to .004" between the rocker and cam lobe. Make sure the fuel filter is clean. Pull the carb and clean it internally. Replace the air filter and make sure the air box is clean. If the drive belt is out of spec, then it will cause the clutches to slip more and lose power. If the clutches are not opening and closing smoothly, this will have a negative effect on performance.
Thank you for the video Kevin. Stay safe out there
Low battery
Great information. Thanks.
Nice job as always! Thanks Kevin
