@@danodden9783 not really.. I did darkness shots with the Mavic 2 and it's ways better than in the video. You can definitely see that the sun is going down or up at the inspire shots while there's complete darkness at the Mavic shot
It's a matter of perspective. High end drones for big budget filmmaking (Freefly, xFold, etc) are easily tens of thousands of dollars and carry full size cinema cameras. I wouldn't say the Inspire is prosumer, but it sure isn't top of the line either.
@@theanswer3574 I personally have an Inspire 1 Pro with the X5 camera and one of my colleagues has an Inspire 2 with an X5s. I haven't used the X7 and, while heard great things about it, I don't consider it a particularly high end option simply because I can't put a Red/Alexa Mini on it. They're absolutely usable in a pro environment but they're not the top of the line simply based on their payload capacity.
@@uda_media I picked up an inspire 1 used for $300. It's not the pro, and doesn't have the x5, but I love flying this drone. It should also be said that it is my first (non-toy) drone. just came from a video where a guy compared an 18000+camera and mount to the mavic pro 2. agree waste of time. at least this guy was sent the inspire not showing off his pro gear just filming a free commercial for dji
No no no. When you're comparing oranges to apples, the comparison is as bad as comparing a slice of baked bread to a glove, they're completely different. With this, they're both videography drones. You can compare them you "foo." It's just that the Inspire is worlds better than the Mavic.
6:37 - Denton, TX!! Not only that but my favorite resale shop on the planet. That was a nice trip back home, and a totally random one at that! I knew you were close when I saw the Texas Motor Speedway at the start of the video. I lived just up the road in Roanoke but had I remained in North Texas I would have moved to Denton. That town just had the right feel to it.
I own both and totally agree with your conclusions. I do filming for NATGEO and Discovery channels and use both drones. The company I own has 74 drones 50 inspire 2’s and 24 Mavic pro v2.0. Seems like we are constantly upgrading but we make a ton of money doing what we do so having the best equipment is as important to me as having the best pilots and camera crew. The one thing I’d add is with the inspire 2 you can have a slave remote for a separate camera operator and the pilot only has to worry about flying. That is very important in sport mode as the anti collision is not active in sport mode. Good work on your review. Where can I get one of those sweaters?
my question is... which settings did you shoot that mavic footage with? h265? dlog? hlg? what aperture? all these will have a noticeable impact on quality of footage also, for a more accurate comparison, you shoulda used the 24mm lens on the inspire to best match the focal length of the mavic no doubt the inspire will have better looking footage, but for a fair evaluation, these details are necessary
6:59 Went from a nice shot with a lot of colors to a flat grey apocalyptic world. The Red brick, the blue water, the blue bridge railings, the color of the leaves and the houses all gone with the Mavic.
Just a note - I am a self-proclaimed amateur drone pilot that's only been flying for a few months. So apologies if there is anything that I missed or glossed over that you were hoping to see in this video. Happy flying! -Robbie
don't worry about it, your doing fine. Your opinion is worth something regardless of what a few might say. the night time part is actually important though I doubt many will be debating between these two. if your 107 you probably will get both and if your just a hobbyist your not even looking at an inspire, unless you have a huge bank roll.
You did a good job, and nice to see Shutterstock content - I didn't know they were on it. I work for a retailer who sells DJI and have access to a Mavic Pro for some shots I need. You told me it will work for my project.
Keep in mind for the inspire 2: the Drone is 5000 dollars, then you have to buy the camera EXTRA for like 1500 dollars..AND it takes two batteries which cost like 250 dollars each! ...the Mavic only takes one battery (has around the same flight time) and its gimbal camera is included
I enjoyed this review. It's interesting to see what the extra $8k gets you for the Inspire 2 over the Mavic Pro. Of course these are wildly different machines, with different intended audiences and purposes. In some ways, it's like comparing a Ferrari to a Civic. We all know the Ferrari has many advantages over the Civic, but it's still fun to see them go head to head. Sometimes, the results are surprising. That said, I would have liked to have seen a comparison with the camera settings the same in each drone - you could tell the "cinematic" version from the Mavic footage had been color graded or had a color adjustment made in camera that the Inspire did not. When comparing head to head, I think it's best to make the playing field as equal as possible so people can get a true feel for the differences.
It's not a good practice to brake with the I2 so hard - there is a real risk of loosing a gimbal with a camera, DJI even gives a possibility to buy a special accessory against this. The I2 can be more responsible, aggressive if You change some setups in DJIGO4 like expo and sensitivity. And it's a good practice to grab with hands, pick up I2 when it's changing to or from travel mode, his legs are quite hardly on the surface, little by little does the trick and the trick is loosing a motor in the air because they are glued not so good. And one more thing - Your way to grab the copter like that doing a calibration of a compass, it's a very good way to loose a couple of nails from fingers. That is why there is a warning label about it on I2. I2 will move up his landing gear when he will detect that he is in the air when he is in a horizontal position. So there is many bad practice in Your video, which is dangerous to not experienced users for them and his gear.
I hated taking my inspire 1 around. I Would buckle it in to my seat, had to hold it sideways to walk in doors, could’ve t do tight spots etc. Mavic series kicks ass!
2 reasons for the I2. 1. I can put a lot of different glass on it. That pretty much seals the deal for anybody who does this for a living. 2. Showing up on a commercial job with a Mavic does not instill confidence that you are a professions (hey my kid has one of those!). Whether you like it or not perception is reality. And I love my Mavic and use it a lot when nobody is looking.
I've never used the Mavic 2, but was able to test the original Mavic Pro for a while. I found some helpful tutorials on camera setup which "de-tune" the picture to more of a cinema log look, which captures more image information and is way more amenable to post production grading, etc. Your average shooter would never be happy with the results from those settings, but a filmmaker would prefer them. Did you do anything like that or were you using the "baked in" picture profile?
So I recently purchased my first drone, a Mavic Mini to incorporate in my insurance agency for the purposes of property risk assessment and storm damage assessments however, as I have discovered so many more facets to owning one. I am really getting into photography and videography. While the MM serves my purposes for the most part I have an issue. I live in West Texas where the wind blows almost daily. I say blows not breezy. I want to move up so I am not as hampered by the wind. I am undecided between the Mavic 2 and Phantom 4, which would you recommend? Thank you for your advice and expertise.
I think they should come out with an inspire 3 with the addition of the following; 1. Hex configuration, this way it can even lose a motor and still return home. lets face it these guys are expensive and so is the camera they carry. 2. built in beacon strobe for dusk flights, so we don't have to stick a crappy lil one on it. 3. Ladar, so the craft can maintain perfect elevation above the ground. 4. a dedicated controller, I hate having to use a phone or tablet with my craft. Yuneec had this part right and so does XDynamics.
I’m actually looking to spend my savings and buy the X7 Zenmuse+ 50mm DL-MOUNT lens for my Inspire 2 . I just purchased the X5RRaw+Osmo Gimbal with the Sigma 56mm Art Lens to give life to my original inspire1 with the X3 about a week ago!!!! What DL mount lens do you recommend I get first for the X7?
This great review and i think owning the dji mini and fpv . You need many drone and it will really depend on what kind of job you do on a professional level . The inspire seem the go to for the next step when your pilot skill and technical are ready.
The Mavic footage in a couple shots are compromised because it is over exposed so it is very hard to compare. Also what settings are you using on each? Are you using the h.265 10 bit 4K D-Log on the Mavic??
The inspire is at a reasonable price. Cameras can cost you $1000-$15000. Movie cameras cost that much. But the mavic is better.. when you compared the night flight you did not install a after market lume light. I have 4 lume lights on my drone :mavic 2 pro zoom:. The lume light can spotlight to the ground from 70ft max. It's a great light to help enable your camera at night.
Sir, with the greatest respect, some individuals like to take time surveying said drones, therefore the out of the box factor is a plus regarding the inspire. You probably know that it was a Hasselblad camera that NASA used on the Moon. Excellent episode buddy. Peace
Wow a lot of haters...who cares if these drones are in different leagues. I liked that he compared the Magic 2 Pro to a high end drone like the Inspire. It shows how it compares to that level of technology. Definitely a big difference in footage. Yes it was expected. I’m glad to see how it compares. Thanks for the video!
who needs the comparison?? it's obvious they are different... a comparison it's meant to be between similar things to see which one is actually better and why... In my opinion this was a waste of time for whoever clicks on it.
Alessandro Grilli so you must be the comparison regulator?? He is comparing one drone to another...how is this not a comparison?? You said “a comparison it’s meant to be between similar things to see which one is actually better and why...” These are both drones that can shoot video....which would make it a comparison by your definition lollllll
That's actually my mistake - I looked up the price around Cyber Monday, so all the prices were chopped down by a few hundred. The retail price is actually $1,499.
Anyone who owns both, and I do, knows there are many differences between the two, some things you didn't mention...like dual operators, full panning of camera without legs getting in the way, more range on the tilt, swapping batteries without turning off the drone, SDI out, superior image, 60 fps in 4k. They both are great and have their place. Some shots I simply will not risk the I2 and will use the M2P. But for filmmaking the Inspire easily wins on multiple levels.
I love my DJI gear and drone, but would question the branding on the Mavic's 'Hasselblad' camera - from this and other reviews, does it live up to the name ? Cheers for the review!

I don't understand how people even compare these drones. One is for hobbyists and amateurs that don't aim for stars... and the other one costs a lot more and delivers ever penny. Try the Inspire 2 with the Zenmuse X7 and the Cinema DNG license. Two completely different worlds. Like night and day!!!
I already had a look at the Inspire 2 for our company, but it's sice is huuge and may won't fit in the truck that is already loaded with gear. Since we don't need it for cinematic shots, but need a fast deployment, out of these two the Mavic 2 would be the better drone for us
The thing is the new Mavic for all purposes is a great drama do have an any situation. However my inspired just demand professionalism and can back it up with being able to change with multiple platforms. I really like the fact that I am not just stuck with one camera with my inspire that in itself is what wins me over just a overall better platform.
Is the intended use really that different? You’ll be doing photography and videography either way. The quality jump isn’t even that noticeable when you consider the price jump.

I do wonder though now that a competitor has shown up will the inspire be updated? great opinion however and I can't wait to see the evolve in professionals hands and my own.
This video's logic:
Should I get this 300K semi truck or a 30K cargo van?
SEMI TRUCKS ARE 150K NOT 300K
you can't compare two footages in different time bro!!!!
Lycores true
6:21 the horizon looks bent?
Mavic mini for the win!!!
Mavic air 2 for the win 👑
Not fair with the low light comparison!! The inspire was flewn at sunset and mavic 2 at totally darkness!!
No, the Mavic is just trash at lowlight when compared to the Inspire, and makes the Inspire's shot look like a sunset.
@@danodden9783 not really.. I did darkness shots with the Mavic 2 and it's ways better than in the video. You can definitely see that the sun is going down or up at the inspire shots while there's complete darkness at the Mavic shot
He keeps calling the 8000$ inspire "prosumer".
Is the 8000$ inspire a prosumer drone?
It's a matter of perspective. High end drones for big budget filmmaking (Freefly, xFold, etc) are easily tens of thousands of dollars and carry full size cinema cameras. I wouldn't say the Inspire is prosumer, but it sure isn't top of the line either.
nah, he's calling amateurs con artists. fakin it til they make it because affordability.
@@uda_media It is with the Zenmuse X7
I would never fork over 9k for a drone, but would upgrade the camera/gimbal.. Where would you rate the inspire 1 with x5 camera compared to mavic 2 pro, and even inspire 2? Is there really that much difference between the 2 inspire drones aside from the camera? Thanks.
i agree waste of my time , you cant compare oranges to apples you foo.
l
Still fun tho
It's like comparing a GOLDEN apple with a grape
just came from a video where a guy compared an 18000+camera and mount to the mavic pro 2. agree waste of time. at least this guy was sent the inspire not showing off his pro gear just filming a free commercial for dji
No no no. When you're comparing oranges to apples, the comparison is as bad as comparing a slice of baked bread to a glove, they're completely different. With this, they're both videography drones. You can compare them you "foo." It's just that the Inspire is worlds better than the Mavic.
How do you compare footage at different times, Mavic 2 after the sun has set and the inspire when there is still light peaking in.
Love that you can take the piss out of yourself at 0:50... shows intelligence and confidence.
my question is... which settings did you shoot that mavic footage with? h265? dlog? hlg? what aperture? all these will have a noticeable impact on quality of footage
also, for a more accurate comparison, you shoulda used the 24mm lens on the inspire to best match the focal length of the mavic
no doubt the inspire will have better looking footage, but for a fair evaluation, these details are necessary
Anthony Mazzara exacly he doing the comparison with all settings on mavic pro asfuck!!! Hhahhahahah
6:59 Went from a nice shot with a lot of colors to a flat grey apocalyptic world. The Red brick, the blue water, the blue bridge railings, the color of the leaves and the houses all gone with the Mavic.
07:48 inspire ... no words!!!!
What about Hyperlight mode in the Mavic Pro 2 for the night time shots? Was it used?
They are not shot at the same moments. The sky in inspire 2 is still bright.
I think it was shot at the same time...the inspire's better camera picked up light better...
@@sumithsuresh4099 yea you are right
Just a note - I am a self-proclaimed amateur drone pilot that's only been flying for a few months. So apologies if there is anything that I missed or glossed over that you were hoping to see in this video. Happy flying! -Robbie
Just a note, you really shouldn't be flying either of these at night as an amateur
In the US, you need a waiver from the FAA to fly at night.
@@victorm7601 easy to get too especially if your not 107.
don't worry about it, your doing fine.
I'm getting both. Mavic for jobs that don't really matter and Inspire for bigger jobs
Keep in mind for the inspire 2: the Drone is 5000 dollars, then you have to buy the camera EXTRA for like 1500 dollars..AND it takes two batteries which cost like 250 dollars each! ...the Mavic only takes one battery (has around the same flight time) and its gimbal camera is included
solid video! Cheers and thank you for the video
Loved all the footage of the Square in Denton!
Cool video ! What settings do you use ?
This guys cool , keep up the good reviews !
That sweater was the best I've ever seen..... The review was ok too. 😂
"The specs for the Inspire will be a little bit better" lol... "The cinematic look that you'll achieve no matter what because of the lens." Y I K E S
Are you in Denton? I thought I recognized downtown Denton in a few shots
Do you have a video on Mavic pro vs Mavic air?
2 reasons for the I2. 1. I can put a lot of different glass on it. That pretty much seals the deal for anybody who does this for a living. 2. Showing up on a commercial job with a Mavic does not instill confidence that you are a professions (hey my kid has one of those!). Whether you like it or not perception is reality. And I love my Mavic and use it a lot when nobody is looking.
The Pro looked very good. Love the night video. Thank you
I thought so too.
Didn't like that the night time comparison for the Inspire 2 had a differently lighted sky.
Nice comparison but calling the propellers fan blades is kind of cringey!
Is there a I3 on the horizon that you know of? I have heard 2020...
How long do the batteries last how long.
Thank you for your advice and expertise.
get your 107 if you havent already
I think they should come out with an inspire 3 with the addition of the following;
I enjoyed the presentation. Great insight. Thank You.
Great job and a good reference for a future buy.
Now for my next video I'm going to compare the picture quality of a RED vs the picture quality of a box camera from the 1800s.
Dji is the best love this video
I have both! Is that bad ?
I’m actually looking to spend my savings and buy the X7 Zenmuse+ 50mm DL-MOUNT lens for my Inspire 2 . I just purchased the X5RRaw+Osmo Gimbal with the Sigma 56mm Art Lens to give life to my original inspire1 with the X3 about a week ago!!!! What DL mount lens do you recommend I get first for the X7?
7:16 Inspire 2: what the... oh it's you
when will mavic 3 launch ?
This great review and i think owning the dji mini and fpv . You need many drone and it will really depend on what kind of job you do on a professional level . The inspire seem the go to for the next step when your pilot skill and technical are ready.
Great video! Cheers from denton!
The Mavic footage in a couple shots are compromised because it is over exposed so it is very hard to compare. Also what settings are you using on each? Are you using the h.265 10 bit 4K D-Log on the Mavic??
You should of included the Phantom 4pro to this comparison...
Peace
Which drone would perform best at search and rescue?
That night shot in inspire is just dope😍
I got both and honestly I’ll take my inspire to any day of the week.
Thanks for your video!
So which version of the Inspire 2 is that?
They just sent u the drone to review , or u keep it?
Well done!
Just one question.
Where are you getting a Mavic two pro for $1300?
That's actually my mistake - I looked up the price around Cyber Monday, so all the prices were chopped down by a few hundred. The retail price is actually $1,499.
1300 dollars? Where?
Here in switzerland!
I bought my Mavic 2 Pro plus the fly more kit for 1500 used with only 4 fly’s!!! works amazingly perfect!! absolutely recommend it!!
$1055 in China
How far It can go from your control ?
If anyone know that please tell me ?
Anyone who owns both, and I do, knows there are many differences between the two, some things you didn't mention...like dual operators, full panning of camera without legs getting in the way, more range on the tilt, swapping batteries without turning off the drone, SDI out, superior image, 60 fps in 4k. They both are great and have their place. Some shots I simply will not risk the I2 and will use the M2P. But for filmmaking the Inspire easily wins on multiple levels.
My dream drone - sits on top of my Jeep, can take off at 70+ mph, and pace me with GPS, while avoiding power lines. Sooner or later I suppose...
he : 0:13 says the afordable version
me: I must be able to aford that
he : 1300 dollars
me: ...
I just ordered a Mavic Pro 2. Is it possible that it physically limits your altitude to 500 feet and you have to "hack" it to go higher?
Okay…where are y’all located?? Texas Motor Speedway? Denton Square? Love seeing seeing North Texas getting represented
Hmmm... Which one can I pack on my motorcycle for a 203 week ride. Along with the rest of the stuff that I need to pack.
I love my DJI gear and drone, but would question the branding on the Mavic's 'Hasselblad' camera - from this and other reviews, does it live up to the name ? Cheers for the review!
I had a Mavic Pro 2 and shot in different situations like daylight and darker environments. I also use my Sony Ar7 II for videos and photos. You can't compare the quality of the Mavic to the Sony. Sony is waaaaay better in VERY SINGLE SITUATION. photo, video, daylight, darkness.... Then Compare the videos on the Sony 4k to the videos on the Inspire 2 6k and it's HUGE.
Compared to the Inspire 2, the Mavic IS A TOY!!!!! WORD!
Great Video 👍🏿 Loved it
I don't understand how people even compare these drones.
Since we don't need it for cinematic shots, but need a fast deployment, out of these two the Mavic 2 would be the better drone for us
I own the mavic 2 pro amd air 2s. I ner thought the Inspire 2 was so affordable. Think its on my shopping list
can u do all the mavic drones or some of them?
This guy reminds me of wolf of wall street
LOL! Rugrat...
You mean jonah hill
Good review.
Great info..... but now I want both!!
The thing is the new Mavic for all purposes is a great drama do have an any situation. However my inspired just demand professionalism and can back it up with being able to change with multiple platforms. I really like the fact that I am not just stuck with one camera with my inspire that in itself is what wins me over just a overall better platform.
I'll take a number to stand in the line of "These drones are so different in cost and intended use that comparing them doesn't make sense".
Is the intended use really that different? You’ll be doing photography and videography either way. The quality jump isn’t even that noticeable when you consider the price jump.
Anyone remember the Dji Inspire in one episode of Punisher? Which was used by Microchip.
thank you very much,! 🙏
that was exactly what i wanted to know! Great! 🙏🙏🙏👌
Isn't that restricted airspace? Texas Motor Speedway.
No, Class A Airspace is 18,000 feet to 60,000 feet. Learn your airspace classifications before you post
beer man thanks for looking it up for me. It was a question. It is restricted as it’s right next to a major airport.
beer man Texas motor speedway is literally right next door to alliance airport
"learn your airspace classifications before you post" lmao. What a clown. If you're within 5 miles of an airport you can't operate a UAS without permission from the ATC tower. He probably just called and got permission. Don't be so quick to talk shit when you don't know what you're talking about beer man
Here is my question, with the fpv cam and pro cam, can you fly this as a single operator?
Excellent review!!!
"Affordable" is relative I guess!
Great video and in-depth on the values and the extraordinary’s they both have to offer, so because of this video my money is going to the inspire 2, it’s more then just a video camera it’s a mans personal toy, which we want a good video yes, but it’s in my option that we as a guy want quality, but more a guys toy then anything out there! Just my personal option , quality, videos, largeness, guy showing off it’s not the small one (in size) ans showing I got the biggest one out there on the market, and over all shopping for the price to, but yes it’s the inspire for me. But again great video!!
I flew the Mavic Pro recently and it was super fun and zippy as like a WRX is, but then I flew the Inspire and it was like hopping into a Lambo. So refined, smooth and fasttt. Didn't compare the cameras or anything
