Nice review!!! I know the batteries are diff bet ver1 and ver2 lot thicker but what about the connections? Can I use my old charger to charge the new batteries. I want to keep my multi rapid charger. love that I can charge 3 batteries at the same time rapidly
Hey Tom. Great video. I would like to download the files you used in your video but I can't seem to find the links. Any chance you can re-post them? THANKS!
Tom, your reviews are rock solid and very much appreciated. Seems many can slam together a "review," but it's nice to be able to rely on a consistent, trusted source like you. So thank you.
im glad the zoom is cheaper cause i dont need all the fancy stuff of the hasselblad, but i want the cool dolly effect mode and the zoom option, win win situation for me ^^
@@thewindrises just because you in theory can fly "anywhere" you want, that doesn't mean you're allowed to. Also, if you're doing something like animal videography, this might not even be technically possible.
Press/ UA-camrs receive drones early to review. There is a press embargo on the drones which is why you see tens of videos on the drone being released at the same time
Tom is a trusted DJI reviewer. Like several other drone reviewers (Casey Neistat, iPhonedo, and iJustine), he most likely received his drones in advance from DJI with the strict stipulation not to release their reviews until the embargo was lifted by DJI after the Brooklyn announcement.
Wow. Of all the videos Ive seen...casey..Iphondo...Kai...Aldrin...this is the cleanest most comprehensive, complete and professional review out there. Hands down period
Tom, outstanding review and testing of the new Mavic 2 drone. You have covered a lot of information in a very short period of time. Just a shame that the 1" sensor doesn't have zoom capability as the regular MP Zoom. I'll be looking forward to your further reviews and testing on both drones, Thank You!
Not the mention the Pro image quality seems to be far worse - look at the sharpness, contrast, and saturation. And boosting Sharpness in post is Not the same as a sharp lens. Not impressed with this Hasselblad lens. What’s going on?
Great review from a European without the loooong bla bla that most north American youtubers tend to spice up their videos with. Straight through the review and through the individual points without hassling. Thanks Tom.
@@MrPashee yes you do if you want to keep your shutter at the 180 rule. Try shooting at f/3.5 at 24fps and 1/48. The picture would most likely be completely overexposed by the sun.
It is to bad DJI did not offer interchangeability between the two camera types. Allowing the consumer to buy one or the other camera. Therefor having two options in the photographers arsenal for image capture.
They actually mentioned in the release event that this will be possible, so you dont have to buy a whole new drone to upgrade. Sample images from our Mavic 2 Pro are available on our blog fyi :)
Great just in time! #thumbsup I saw the nd filters are not available right now... Did you get them to test them too? I'm looking forward for nice footage ;) Thanks for good review
Tom, nice job on this review. You really captured a lot of detail in this video (which I know isn't easy). Nicely done...I'm on the fence myself between the 'Mavic 2 Pro' (with 1" sensor) and "Mavic 2 Zoom" (with Dolly Zoom)...hmmm, will have to give it more thought. Again, great job...
Yea, and frankly, if DJI didn't own Hasselblad, there is no way the older Company would have put it's name on this camera system that has so many problems. The concept is good, but deployment of the idea has some major flaws. In some supposedly full sensor 4K modes, the full sensor is not being used, or there is some other problem, because the resolution simply isn't there. I thought I would get the PRO, but because of the flaws of the PRO I will get the zoom, which is not even much of a compromise with the exception of losing the wonderful 10 bit. The zoom has more consistently sharp 4K footage thruout the range of modes, AND it has the Zoom. Unfortunately it has a fixed aperature which means you will have to have a set of ND filters, which is a pita and cannot be changed in the air. Databyter
Great review. Loved the balloon scenes. Can we swap out the gimbal / camera? It sure sounded like that during the subtle comment of upgrading the gimbal later on during today's presentation.
DJI''s See the Bigger Picture video on their DJI youtube channel -- At 1:36:32 the most profound statement was made. This looks like more gimbal / lens options for the Mavic 2 - OUTSTANDING! I hope they add a Hasselblad with 50mm eqv lens and gimbal in the months to come.
Excellent review Tom..and many thanks for the links to the download images...that's what I really need to see! And I thought I'd have to wait a while for a review such as this!
Well, I’m really impressed how Dji upgraded mavic pro. This drone has everything except parachute... really I think dji should think about this feature, I had collision with bird and probably i lost 1 props, in consequence i was watching how my drone is falling down and crashing to pieces on tarmac road. Could you imagine how cool be if you have emergency parachute, in this situation drone will land safely and probably pair of props need to be replaced instead of full drone.
Fly safe. If you fligh in sight, this would normaly not happen. I know if you wanna get good shots, you have to be confident and a bit risky. But you have to take the responsibility!!
Awesome test! haha. Does the Mavic 2 work with Crystalsky? I want to know if I should buy the Crystalsky now or wait for the Mavic 2 controller with built in 5.5 inch screen.
Why put the Hassleblad name on it and jack up the price accordingly? Everyone know that the camera was made in the same Chinese factory as the drone. Hassleblad is not the dominate name in photography it once was.
thegalaxy Fanboy logic..., Hasselblad was used ONLY for the moon landings, that’s all. They wanted a medium format FILM, maybe 8 choices back then, much less today. nasa uses many other brands too. In digital was the original Dalsa that’s still a benchmark for 4K today.
Hi Tom. Fabulous review! So good that I've just ordered the Mavic 2 Zoom. I listened to you about the level of photography and although I'm keen to produce videos and photos of high quality, I do recognise that for UA-cam, quality is limited. Yours is the best review of a drone I've seen. Stunning location too. Thank you.
OK that's impressive. I know you had a clipped on mic, but still you recorded that with the drone hovering right next to you and it wasn't that noisy! Nice!

Hii
It sucks they make you chose between a better sensor and cool features like Optical Zoom and the Dolly Zoom effect. Why can't they combine the two?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ - its a business
Cant agree more
For output 1080 just use zoom version
Its enough
Even for pro users
im glad the zoom is cheaper cause i dont need all the fancy stuff of the hasselblad, but i want the cool dolly effect mode and the zoom option, win win situation for me ^^
to make u spend more money, they didn't even add 4k 60 , so u will have to buy a phantom 4 pro or the new 5 coming up ,
but I want the zoom and the 1inch in the one drone

Did you get a pre release unit from DJI?

Most detailed video.good job.well done.
Question: Is it tap screen to focus like original mavic pro or auto focus like mavic air?
Would like an answer too. On dji website the zoom model says an auto focus when zooming but doesn't explain further.
Mavic pro has manual AND auto focus, mavic air has fixed focus. Mavic 2 pro and zoom also has auto focus with possibility of manual override.

No zoom capability. 28 mm whereas the Zoom is 24 mm to 48 mm zoom and with that has the DollyZoom feature.
Yes it does.

DJI owns stakes in Hasselblad, so it makes perfect sense to have this joint development (and branding). But I bet the sensors are actually from Sony..
