It took about 30 tries to get it, but the reason it took so many was because I was aiming for a 375 checkpoint. I bunch of the tries before were still awesome (366-370 range usually) so if I were to have done that on the console I wouldn't have retried. The second half took about 5-10 tries. Thanks the support dude :) This level is the biggest reason why I think 3000 hits isn't too far off for me, since Y only had 679 in his 3008 run

I might be wrong but I think anytime you get a large multi-hit like +7 or +8 one of the crewmates will say something to compliment you. It's easy to notice in Meteo when the warp circles start spawning
I have ppl on another video that couldn't believe I got 712 without TAS lolo they have a hard time understanding that there are real authentic ppl out there good on the sticks. lolol
KrohnIndustry get me on the 64 original sticks and I will show you I can get this with ease. I know every nook and cranny to this game. Lol I was a 64 freak and Star Fox was my fav game I have part 1 and 2 on SNES and when I got it on the 64 I went bananas! When I started achieving missions to get the medals, I wanted to get Star Fox with his Fathers Glasses so badly. Then I wanted to play on foot in multiplayer mode 4 players. So I played this game with extreme passion to the point I got impeccable at it. This is not a hard level. Especially with quick load of the A trigger.
+KrohnIndustry Perhaps you should look more closely. It's not that they can do an unguided charge shot. There is a bug that gives extra points when you kill enemies with an unguided charge shot. Kill 2 enemies get 3 points. Kill 3 enemies get 4 points. In fact you don't even need to kill enemies. If you hit a strong enemy with a charge shot a +1 appears and you get bonus points without killing anything. 0:40 He kills 8 enemies with 2 charge shots, and blasts a laser tower for a charge shot gaining 18 points instead of 12. 1:15 He repeatedly charge shots the missiles gaining +1 again and again and again without actually killing the missile. 1:45 You see him repeatedly get double points by charge shotting the enemies without lockon. Again at 2:35, 2:50, then he repeatedly shoots the battleships with charge shots to farm even more kills AFTER the turrets are dead. He abused the fuck out of that scoring bug, and for the record it was fixed in subsequent re-releases of the game.
I have to ask you though, did you use a modified controller? I don't think i can charge a shot up that fast with a regular controller. (Wait, nevermind. I get it now. Charging the shot is fast, it takes extra time to lock on.)
i know you said your post checkpoint could use work but jesus christ your movement and braking is so fucking clean. i end up using up all my brakes and panicking most of the time and i can't find enough time to take down the capital ships

Dude, holy shit. I don't think I ever hit past 600 since my game capped out at 511 for some reason. I did usually reach the max score around mid-way through the "Second Line" portion though so maybe I did break 600 a couple times.
I would've beaten hard mode through this route if one of my comrades didn't ram me and take out the hyper laser on venom. If i recall it was the teammate to the right that took off my right wing. I spend the remaining lives trying and failing to beat star wolf save for the very last life. Unfortunately andross finished me off. Now whenever i play the hard route the moment i reach venom i dive immediately to avoid that situation. It was utter crap to make it all the way to bvenom just for a teammate to ruin my hyper laser.
Somewhere out there, an asian kid is feverishly trying to beat this score, partly to uphold the reputation that asians are better at everything videogame related, and partly because his dad is standing over him with a bamboo stick threatening to beat him if he dare shames the family by not beating the score. And you think you have it hard.
I never tried highscoring this game after I learned that you can exploit charge shots to get extra points of enemies like missiles or enemies that require multiple hits. Without that, I recall my highscore on this stage was somewhere around 500 points? The bigger surprise to me, was learning that you can destroy the boss' energy balls with bombs... though I'm not sure if the bomb on the last phase was mistimed?
The scoring system in this game is by far my favorite out of any videogame I’ve ever played! Abusing the charge shot bonuses brings a whole other level of creativity and strategy to the game. you’re also right, the last bomb on the boss was mistimed. If you have extra bombs at that point in the level, it makes the boss fight much easier for the Hit+10
@@krohn7master yeah, I'd always just mashed the hell out of my A button for the last phase, and I learned the hard way about missing the last cycle that way. Area 6 definitely becomes a lot more exciting with this stuff in mind. I remember abusing the brakes to really maximize my points too

Unfortunately because of how Nintendo borked the controls of Star Fox Zero we will never get anything that comes close to this level of mastrery. You would need to hit the calibrate button more often than this guy shot lasers.

If you have 713 hits before beating the boss, then how do you have 724 at the end, when you get +10 for beating it, where does the extra hit come from? Whatever, it's a fucking amazing gameplay!
Ultra late reply, but killing the boss counts as a hit - same with every enemy;any extra hits are added to the already existing hit that you would normally get - so therefore, the boss kill is 1 + the additional speedy +10 hits.
BTW., I'm not being able to upload ANYTHING, and I receive a message saying that there's a "safety error", but I have really not changed anything in my PC since my Solar upload, so I think the problem might be with my youtube account... BTW., I did a 179 checkpoint on Sector X using level select!!! I think that would be enough to achieve 400 hits on Sector X (but it's difficult to combine two very good halves!!!
to be honest, I’m not tapping A fast at all. When you hold down A, you a shoot a quick “burst” before you begin the charged shot. You abuse this by holding A until the burst ends, releasing, then holding again, and repeat. It’s a rhythmic strategy if anything
@@kapone2k actually, no. I’m taking advantage of the “burst” of lasers when holding down A. You can get into a rhythm where you’re shortly holding down and releasing A quickly so you’re shooting bursts over and over

N64 controller, claw grip. Holding Z+R makes charge shots not lock onto anything

How did you manage a 724? I thought v1.0 subtracted from your score if you hit a 511 cap, and locked it at 511 on v1.1?
It substracts it from the Total Hits scene at the end of the game in 1.0. Everything appears normal until then
