Thank you! My 10, 13, and 17 year old changed their bedroom ceiling fan for the first time and they did it (I helped and their dad helped a little). They are tremendously proud as am I and it’s all due to this video.
Hey bro just wanted to say thank you all the way from spanaway Washington.. thank you for walking me through the process of installing my ceiling fan video was simple easy to understand.. at first blu and black wire scared me but you explain it very well now jobs is done.... thank you both my 13yr old and 6yr old learned how to install our own ceiling fan together as a family project
Watched your video while I was on hold for tech support. They couldn’t tell me how to put on the extension rod. I thought the original rod had to connect to the extension, not replace it. I ended up telling tech-support how to do it based on your video. Thanks a lot.
The Excellent Laborer you definitely made it so much easier to follow than the box directions. I appreciate the time you took to help a novice out like me!
I have a project ahead of me to replace a stock light/fan and install a Harbor Breeze fan...your video just gave me hope after watching some other ones. Day later now: done job. Hardest part was taking down the old builders original. Thanks again for your help!
Hello Josh. I might have already left a comment in the past, but let me just say. I have used this video on multiple occasions installing this brand of a ceiling fan. You did an awesome job. And even though there are other videos out there, it's just something about yours. Again... Awesome job~!
Thanks a lot Mark for taking time out of your day to let me know! Viewers like yourself is what keeps me pressing that record button every week. I want to wish you luck with all of your future projects! Take care!!
Neat house! I like the cathedral look to it too! That ceiling fan looks perfect for the space! Although I'm not a fan of modern houses, i think this one looks amazing
After 6 useless video yours helped me because you assume the viewer doesn't know how to do this. I mistakenly took off the screws on the downrod without noting which screws went where. Dumbest thing was to put all screws in one place then could not remember which one went where. Thanx for showing the rod as it was before removing the screws.
Looks great, and with a brighter bulb installed that’s all the light you need. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxWF88GpljEn-0o34vtLFazEQ5h5Q33SjU As far as ease of installation- this was my first ceiling fan and it took about 3 hours because I had no idea what I was doing and also it’s helpful to have a second set of hands and a magnetic drill bit. Works great.
Thanks for your video and detailed instructions as I was unfamiliar with the new types of hanging celling fans ,especially with down rods, and it's what I thought that the bulb shape at top of rod must fit in socket so it's safely secure and your hands are free to do the wiring.
I have never installed a ceiling fan and after watching your video it seems pretty easy, kinda, lol. I also have to take down my old one and I hope I can use the down rod from it on my new one? Thank you!
What to check in a downrod if Harbor breeze downrod(72 inch,or 60 inch) is not available and a generic brand is available. Aside from outside diameter of holes. Would a difference in the threads matter?
I’ve got a similar fan but because of the angle of my ceiling the canopy wouldn’t attach. So I had to get a canopy adapter kit which has a larger opening for the downrod to accommodate the angle. The problem is that neither the bracket nor the plastic ball that come with the canopy adapter kit have a place to screw in a ground wire. The directions say to screw the ground wire into the small hole in the downrod, but my downroad only had the two big holes for the metal peg to go through it.
Hey Jeffrey! This rod came threaded but does not serve a purpose for this installation. It’s a universal Rod. So maybe some fans require the threads. Thanks for watching!
My big question: how do you determine how long the downrod & fan width needs to be to make sure the blades don’t hit the ceiling? My cathedral ceiling is roughed in for a light and I know it’ll need a downrod. Just need help with the length. Thanks!
How long is that rod? My builder told me that my fan is going to wobble and knock because he put in a 36 inch rod. I call lies, but what is your thought?
Quick question Was the house pre wired like that where you had a 12-2 from the 3 way system for the light and a 12-2 for the fan or did you wire it like that
I have a down rod extension but it's mounted to a flat ceiling, so the fan moves like a pendulum when on. Do I need to buy another part to replace the down rod?
More than likely you need to get the balancing weights that attach the fan blades. I don’t have too much experience with the balancing weights but I have seen it done in the past
Coastal Creek by Harbor Breeze: The glass globe has two holes drilled in it about 1 inch apart. The larger hole is for slipping the the mounting post. The smaller hole is for the pull chain activating the fan switch. The slightest pressure as the chain pulls through the globe activating the fan will cause the globe to crack and become useless. Mine cracked the first day after I installed the fan. This is a design flaw and anyone should know when you put holes in thin glass that close together a crack is likely to develop.
I don’t know why my FAN chain is not able to pull from the chain. It’s like sticky and jammed. I always have to turn the fan off and pull it from the base of the string
When I snug up the screws it makes the down rod slightly out of center and leaning at an angle because it has the threads on the one end. With the short OEM rod there are no threads. I feel like that is bad design by the company…

Thank you for an excellent explanation of how to install this down rod extension!
Thanks! I purchased this fan and your video helped tremendously.
Daaammmmmnnn I wish I had found this video first. The only videos I was finding was how to install this fixture. But not the rod extension
I watched a couple of other videos and I'm so happy I found your channel..this was so much better detailed and thank you for showing everything

nice video! I wonder how to install downrod fan on a sloped ceiling, do we need a particular bracket?
The ceiling fan will come with the bracket. You do not need a special mounting bracket. Thanks for watching!
excellent video. Cut down a lot of time
Thanks! I’m glad I could help!

Make sure to attach your fan blade screws tightly because they will come lose and stop the fan motor from working.
How long is that rod?
My builder told me that my fan is going to wobble and knock because he put in a 36 inch rod. I call lies, but what is your thought?
What is the fix for an old remote controlled fan works but only at a very slow speed?
I’m not sure to be honest
I see the user manual shows hanging ball cover, it was missing from the box and I don't see you installing it. What's the story??
Quick question Was the house pre wired like that where you had a 12-2 from the 3 way system for the light and a 12-2 for the fan or did you wire it like that
Yes, I did the wiring with the 12/3
I have a down rod extension but it's mounted to a flat ceiling, so the fan moves like a pendulum when on. Do I need to buy another part to replace the down rod?

I see what you are saying. The chain could potentially crack the globe if pulled hard on the wrong angle.
I noticed the downrod is threaded, why is that if you didn't use the threading?
I don’t know why my FAN chain is not able to pull from the chain. It’s like sticky and jammed. I always have to turn the fan off and pull it from the base of the string
It looks like a Hampton bay rothley
Why a pull chain fan... How you gonna reach the chains?
Why are the rod ends threaded? You don't need it.
Why can’t my down rod connect to my fan?
When I snug up the screws it makes the down rod slightly out of center and leaning at an angle because it has the threads on the one end. With the short OEM rod there are no threads. I feel like that is bad design by the company…
Why the hell is the longer down rod threaded?
This guy looks like he has the big eyes snapchat filter on the reg
Bro skipped the part about reassembling the rod
Just put it back together in the reverse order you took the other one apart.
should have shown how you mounted fan box. video worthless
10:37 put the blades brackets on before putting the blades on its easier
