Again, as with the Soviet, credit to "JosephS1k" for uploading the first ever run of this "category", and setting a seriously, profoundly competent time for any challengers to beat - it stood for over 2 years. Some of the tactics/strats used here were discovered/created by him (I'm assuming) and can be found originally here: • Red Alert 2 (Allied) -...
Once again, he was quite thorough and usually managed to find the optimal macro-strat. No obvious opportunities were passed up, often leaving me only with micro/tactical optimisation over his original time. Some of the missions are "scripted" or sequential (very small improvement margins), but much less so than the Soviet - I had much more creative freedom with this one and utilised it quite extensively.
Credit also to "ROMaster2", who has also speedran the Allied campaign and retains the any difficulty world record here: • 38:27 - Command & Conq...
Although he plays on easy (far fewer run-ruining terror drones, for example), some of his original strats also have application on hard, and were successfully utilised in this hard run - his "Dark Night" route is a good example of a clear routing improvement.
Overall this was a good run. A couple of scary moments here and there, but overall a really tight, nicely-flowing run.

Been a while since my last video, a long while. I think the longest videoless period since I started uploading seriously several years ago. Not like I haven't been working hard, though - among other things, I've been working on this sporadically for the past couple of months, and had been running it quite hard over the past week. Really happy with this run which I just got, especially that chrono storm time. If my 9 year old self had known I would run that time on chrono storm one day, it would have absolutely blown his mind. I still remember being young enough that I would be scared to even fill up the bunkers.
As with the soviet campaign, the game is running in directdraw in 1080p, so the performance is much worse than it looks, which is why my mousing might not be as fast and precise as you are used to if you followed my strategy stuff back in the day. It does start to really pick up as I get closer to the finish line. Let me know if you would like to see runs of the expansion, which is also great. I don't think anyone has ever unified the records for both campaigns on both games. I'm halfway there.
Some interesting trivia, that route for mission 4 was the only way I knew how to complete that mission when I was younger. Never actually successfully built a base on that mission, I don't think. Always just rushed the beacon with the destroyers. More trivia, Tanya nearly gets herself crushed by a V3 rocket at 41:15.
Also, not long after my soviet run went up last year, this happened: thegameawards.com/westwood-studios-to-receive-industry-icon-award-at-the-game-awards-2015/
All hail Westwood studios!
Even though I have been quite inactive recently, others have been busy:
Stealth has been busy uploading lots, here is his latest one of Dishonored: ua-cam.com/video/5S_eP1d3bis/v-deo.html
Cosmic has been uploading a lot of Dishonored too, here is his video for today which should be up by now: ua-cam.com/video/ejX_PpEfoCA/v-deo.html
Clockner worked very hard to produce his best video yet a while ago, he can be very proud of this one and you definitely should have seen it by now: ua-cam.com/video/5w92XrDM_BE/v-deo.html
We are all very excited for and waiting on Dishonored 2 and things are heating up. Not long to go.
P.S. emmy-worthy performance from the henchman at 57:15
volound is what you ' ll see far cry primal buy?
So are you back
Excellent work with this video, I remember when RTS games were still good. Looking forward to seeing you kick ass in Dishonored 2.
yurie's rev now?
Please run the expansions! I love how you keep the cutscenes too, seeing the cutscenes brings back so many good memories and makes the run like a movie of sorts. Thank you for the upload Volound!
'No, comrade premier, it's only begun'
*the war lasts less than an hour*
How many medals of honor do you think the commander got for that?
All of them.
They had to replace citation bars with citation beads.
The bars wouldn't fit on his uniform.
Why is Volound not the Commander-in-Chief? Why isn't he a higher ranking than even that? You don't win a war in one hour and NOT get something better than the White House!
Michał Zajch How the fuck you lose the sea fight, Blyat?
Because... we...
YES?
We lost the sentry gun, then the mission consider we lost.
...
I forgot how corny and amazing these cutscenes were.
I have to admit, as much as the humour is cranked up they're actually surprisingly good cutscenes with a good balance of the whole "this is serious" tone, alongside the whole "Yeehaa let's blow this up!" vibe.
I really have to say RA2 got the balance right compared to RA1 (little too serious) and RA3 (way too ridiculous and unbelievable). Gotta love Barry Corbin's flexibility in his performance as Carville, he really sets the right tone for things.
Yea I thought these cutscenes were pretty good, unlike RA 3..
The acting is perfect for the overall 50s/60s B-movie tone of the game's setting.
My favorite is still Tim Curry escaping to the one place that hasn't been corrupted by capitalism.... SPAACE
The Soundtrack is amazing, too!
"Are you done eating lunch, Yuri?"
"No comrade, I have only begun"
3:10 When it says "Westwood Studios Proudly Presents" as the music is revving up you can tell they meant it.
To date Tanya, you only had to take out the entire USSR.
Worth it
What about the lieutenant?
She is hotter than this version of Tanya. Red Alert 1s Tanya is way hotter.
If I had to choose, I'd pick the lieutenant over Tanya any day!
Would do them both, but Lieutenant > Tanya because Tanya has a distutbing laugh.
After MINUTES of brutal fighting... allied forces has caught Premier Romanov
After the 3-nuclear silo mission, I thought the funeral was for the 20 seals that did the suicide mission
@generic generic the pun will not be sealed.
F
Well obviously if the enemy deploys mind controlled squids you deploy specially trained dolphins with sonic guns. I mean its the oldest rule in the book
I'm still waiting for frikin sharks with frikin lasers on their frikin heads
Honorable Mention why this is the PERFECT excecutioning time for Chrono Storm
The music (MainTheme) starts 58:39 with the mission and finishes with it, on Point! 1:02:13
BOOM Mission Accomplished.
Dich trifft man auch echt unter jedem Video. :D
Perfection
okay, this was just fantastic!
That's honestly beautiful.
These speedruns had me like "wtf thats all you needed to do?" These are so much against to what i did a.k.a build a shit ton of tanks
It's not like speedruns are there to have fun with the game for average players though, cheesing missions isn't more fun than doing it as intended in my opinion.
this is perfectly describe my childhood......
@@Nuuk_Nuke_Nook Not entirely, it's not completely a natural development that everyone would go through if they like the game enough. It's mostly for very competitive people who think grinding for more skill is fun. What I've meant in all comments here now is that speed running is not fun for everyone that likes a game, for some it absolutely kills it.
@@twanvanderdonk2504 Eh, you got a point. Ngl.
"is it done, Yuri?"
"give me about an hour"
"Soviet commanders are still analyzing your attack, trying to discover the secrets of your advanced covert strategies." Lmao, well maybe they shouldn't have placed those barrels near those walls in the first place would be a good start.
Pff... Look at the German military bases in Black Forrest. That is advanced barreling! We Germans are a little obsessed with fuel stocks for sure.
you should see some of the mental omega missions, they actually call out this barreling bulshite
@@pacman10182 Which mission number is this?
epsilon mission 19
"we did not anticipate this move. our coastal defenses are too weak and full of barrels"
ua-cam.com/video/O0HfGXZUgAg/v-deo.html
Not to mention Think Diffrent, that base at the beginning (Allied) is FULL of barrels!
A minute of silence to those brave SEALS who went on a suicide attack to disable nuclear missiles.
and didnt even try to run away after their mission was accomplished. Just stood there awaiting their death !

They knew it was no turning back

I feel myself an idiot. It took me more than two hours to complete the mission that starts at 42:58. The Soviets were constantly building those flak tracks so I had to gather 300 marines to cut through them. You should have seen that massacre that ensued! Lost everyone except for 7 marines and all 5 SEALs.
Congratulations mate, the new record!
thanks man :)
StealthGamerBR ™
OMG STEALTH I LOVE YOU BRO
Holy shit stealth gamer br..
The Hawaii mission is gold at 36:12 - the entire Soviet base is a lone turret. Also, great timing of the final mission with the soundtrack! Good run and many memories
Yeah, funny enough, if you beat that one building before they can build any more on the Hawaiian island then it's a fast win, but that mission is quite fun, so I prefer not to do that lol.
Takes out one turret "Beautiful job at Hawaii Commander" XD
It's a bug tho. The objective said "destroy the base" meaning destroy the enemy base exists.
@@dba6097 It's not really a bug, more like an inefficient solution to the problem of that misson.
@@kedarunzi9139 Following the objective XD.
I feel like the cutscenes are some sort of an intro to a porno
Deadpool Never watch Red Alert 3 then. ;)
nah the acting is worse and the women have more style..
I dont mind a scene with Kari Wuhrer
@@jurredevries8763 in a nutshell
Deadpool If only it was! Lol
How this production acquired a cast like this is still baffling. No doubt cheesy and for a game it's extraordinary. So many different fantastic actors. Made my younger days full of magical moments and meet so much interesting people, simply a brilliant experience.
"YOU ARE A COMMANDER"
*Moments after 1st mission a message appears*
"Your rank: Staff Seargeant"
Lol
Commander is a pretty broad term and not a rank. Commanders are just a way to refer to those commanding troops/regimens/battalions.
@@dracmeister and since youre the only commander of the allied forces left, youre basically the head commander of the army, air force, and navy. The only ones that are above you are the general of the defence department, thats carville, and the president himself
I never realized that General Carville says "the Commies and us want the same things. You know... female companionship, a good steak."
lol
Love how you finished that mission at 1:02:15 perfectly in time with the ending of the song, like almost to the millisecond.
the 'selling your MCV' tactic triggers me. XD
loling hard at 36:26. I don't think they thought about that trigger too much.
How did that happen? I played the game over a decade ago, how could the entire mission end from that? Is it because the Soviet didn't have a base yet?
@@Syngrafer Think there's a trigger for the victory script, where if you destroy a building you win. Think someone accidentally added that sentry gun to one of the buildings.
I think you are awarded victory if you destroy all soviet buildings. and seeing as that is the only soviet building at the start of the mission...
Correct with the building, Age of Empire games suffered the same issue during campaign except their bug was all units on map prevent defeat so for some triggers in those games, they would hide a single infantry in some corner of the map that could not be reached unless you harvested the entire forest or found a way behind a mountain.
@Shawn Cottrell Starcraft was the only game I know if that the developers actually put in correct triggers so you can have a situation with no units or buildings and defeat or victory isn't correct until that trigger is triggered.
45:00 amazing control!! It seems all the seals knew what they should do and automatically done perfectly in the mission! Excellent gameplay!!
Thanks for the shout-out and kind words and congratulations to your world record mate , gg wp .
Clockner is when your next video.
no probs, well earned. thanks.
Volound is what you'll buy you dishonored 2
I've enjoyed watchign both of your playthroughs immensely! Thanks for leaving the cutscenes in too. :)
36:29 You sneezed with such ferocity that the Soviets have abandoned all maritime activity. Your rank is: Literal God
"I've come to realise that us and commies want the same things, y'know, female companionship, good steak..."
Someone give general Carville a big hug, please! He desperately needs it!
Crazy Ivan gave him a hug, I think it proved to be too much for him...
This game is one of my favourites of all time. Spent countless hours playing it in the early 00´s. I hope they remaster it and release it with all new solo missions as well as the old ones.
39:05 I'd forgotten about McBurger Kong!
holy fudge, talk about balls, this guy sells his only construction yard midfight to use the soldiers
Cut scenes 9/10
Gameplay 20/10
Cut scenes bruh/10
Cut scenes abignumber/10
How you handle Deep sea is just glorious. Thank you for that and this whole video.
Last mission was timed perfect to the Hell March 2 soundtrack. Kudos!
The nostalgia is killing me !!! I love this !!!! EA WHAT HAVE YOU DONE !!!!! :'(
I remember not really liking this game much as a kid. But that intro... undeniably awesome. Seriously amazing.
That was absolutely insane. Bravo, sir!
"We are going to develop Red Alert 2"
"Is it going to have cut scene's"
"Yes"
"What is the budget?"
"Yes"
more like "here's a million, make your pick, you can keep the rest."
"$$$"
3:12 It's been many many years, but I still get goosebumps hearing this
Frank Klepacki is a freaking musical genius!
Hahah that Hawaii mission, are you serious. :D
*destroys one turret*
President: Beautiful job at the Hawaii commander
@@MrRys "Beautiful beach at the hawaii commander.." dat wudabeen funy :D
This game was miles ahead of its time, especially the cutscenes and story progressions
Gameplay was very simple but that made it amazingly beautiful
Thank you Westwood, sorry that RA3 was an absolute letdown :(
5:05 - "Enlisted man, woman, and child"
Wait, you have children enlisted in your army?!
"And listed" he says......not "enlisted." He's saying you are responsible for the security of the entire population of the eastern US.
Excellent work, Volound. Well deserved.
This game used to be THE shit! Happy to see it get some love, even in 2017
It's not even december of 2016 yet, slow down. ;D
Thunder Soul I was high as fuck I apologize
That is an impressive high....
it still is the shit!
Well I just saw this in 2018, and the nostalgia is hitting really really hard.
I just realised both red alert 2 and deus ex have the statue of liberty destroyed in them, seems like all genre defining games have that in them.
In a real life scenario, Putin might use it as a giant Tesla coil.
+manictiger "real life scenario"? Pfff, please, our pres is too soft and cooperarive to wage war against what's supposed to be civilized nations. Unlike scaredy paranoid 'muricans and europeans(that are still consuming their anti-soviet propaganda) that see only threat in us just because we control more dirt of this planet than each of them and seem to be, ironically, more united than "united" states of overreacting wealthy liberals.
I'm sorry I brought up politics, but you did mention Putin as well as real life, and this is just a straight call for it.
Thunder Soul
I made a joke and you went off on a big ass rant and not even an intelligent one at that.
manictiger This "joke" was pretty bad as well, so it's 1:1 I guess.
Thunder Soul Your rant was bad.
Tanya is still hot for me even now. xD
Le Furnizoru shes hotter in yuri's revenge
Lt. Eva's cute, too.
Eva I would go for in the shower so she could wash out all of the hair product and be her sexy self, Tanya I would take at any time.
Have you seen Zofia?
@@ethanswimmer1287 what. where
Great stuff. Oh the memories this brings back.
Wow You play a wide range of games, from RTS to FPS. And I will support you as a subscriber.
Genuine WTF moment with the Deep Sea mission. Oh, yeah, we have defeated the invading Soviet forces in the Pacific with a couple of rocketeers a Harrier. In under two minutes. Why do you ask? :))))
stillrockin27 imagine seeing that effectiveness irl.
Well, I managed to do something similar; build a couple dozen jumpjet infantry quickly, then strike at the enemy base before they build up too much. Without air defenses, they lose their Construction Yard, then everything else. Just under 10 minutes.
Of course, compared by the utter *masterstroke* here, it's nothing.
Yeah, but can he defeat the Allied fleet with a little rubber duck? :D
57:05 "I warned you that we will destroy you"
literally few seconds later when he find out that he got destroyed in seconds
*WHAT*
Where are my world record videos of the Yuri's Revenge campaigns?
Please Volound, play C&C Yuri Revenge
God this brings back so many memories. The cutscenes are nostalgic as hell.
One of my very first RTS game I've played along CnC: Generals, StarCraft and Warcraft: RoC. Those sweet memories!
Damn well played... I remember doing mission 7 on Pearl Harbor quite similar, I always went for their MCV with some rocketeers.
Yuri is so telepathic, he doesn't even need to put the phone to his ear. 1:43
54:07 6969 credits, nice!
Such a smooth gameplay with perfect timings :)
Never knew their were tanks in the first mission!
Took you 1 hour and 2 minutes to complete the whole missions with cutscenes?
God damn you did a best speedrun
Me as a kid:
Yeah! Tanya is hot!
Me 15 years later:
Dang, Lt. Eva lee looks dang fine!!!
Me, 15 years later:
holy shit romanov is the hot stuff
I met Ray Wise (the actor who plays the president) at a film festival last year. Great, hilarious guy. I asked him about Red Alert and he absolutely remembered the filming of it. He even remembered some of the lines from the script. He was able to tell me some interesting info about the filming of the live action cut scenes.
He said to me, "You played that!?", and I said, "of course!". He was surprised that it was so popular - and even more surprised when I told him that many consider it the best in the series.
Thank you so so much Volound for posting this.
I love your videos and I will continue to support them.
I'm curious as to what are you planning to do now with your channel? Any possibility of going back and playing some old rts's?
Regardless thanks for all the content!
dishonored 2 is the focus. anything between now and then is just filling the gap. these kinds of speedruns will be the only RTS on my channel for the foreseeable future.
"Is it done, Yuri?"
"A little C4 knockin' at your door!"
"WHA-"
"You are victorious!"
Really enjoyed both Allied and Soviet speed runs, specially since you kept all the cut scenes. Please make a Yuri's Revenge ones too!
19:20 The French commander casually having a confidential war discussion with global leaders.. just near the Eiffel Tower. LOL
NICE STRATEGY AT LAST MISSION
haha. in the scene with the European council, I used to think that the British prime minister was in orbit and the background was the UK.
because the French prime minister apparently try only goes on live TV when the Eiffel Tower is behind him
Why of course. Why would a commander know where they were from without those obvious landmarks or backgrounds that look like they are taken from Google Earth?
It's not like there are news or anything like that.
I was 12 when i played red alert 2 and was sold.It was so good, the gamplay, cutscenes and the overall units and buildings.I had my own pride back then but it would have probably been destroyed if this guy showed me this then.
Finishing Chrono Storm the same time Hell March 2 finishes - that should be a separate achievement on its own. Good job!
I find it funny that Yuri would know exactly what nuclear silo was being used to retaliate, and what it's phone number was not to mention that no other silos were used considering the US have thousand of them.
I think if since the Allies never found the Yuri-led Psychic Corps and their mind control project which was active in red alert 1&,Yuri was able to construct 3 psychic dominator's across the world that he had plenty of time to use his mind powers to track them down.
I guess the phone call connected to all the silos at once? As for the number: he's psychic!
*2 minutes into the american campaign*
First person to die is a black guy
well technically it was a suicide so everyone died at the same time
Actually that was the intro to the game itself. But I see your point.
Also they have a *White* man too....Soo it can't be racist...
Kotz racism(
But that white guy mind controlled by a Russian
I dont know how you did this, but the nice gods have blessed us.
54:05
Look at gold count at top right! XD
54:20 that money amount! excelent timing haha
Very nice indeed!!!
All those stages are passed without music, but the last stage is accompanied by Hell March.
I can't think of better music than that.
And plus, that final stage ended together with the end of the song!!!
So epic!!!
36:23 my whole life is a lie.
Sir, this is not looking good. If we don't get relief soon, we're finished
Hold my rocketeer
thanks for the walk through on how to beat every mission:D my times still pales in comparison to your though
You did Greatest play..! I impressed ;)
Well done General 👍
OMFG the pearl habor one got me good i didn't know you could do that
A mistake in the game near the beginning there: the Statue of Liberty IRL is hollow and copper (corroded to the turquoise colour it now has), but the one in RA2 crumbled like it was made of stone. Ghostbusters II got it right.
Increible juego! De los mejores juegos de estrategia de toda la historia
About time you uploaded
I love when speedrunners keep ingame video. Like
Love how the British primeminister has a map of the UK behind here lmao
Thx bro because of you I finished
Awesome videos mate! So freakin' nostalgic... But, I am wondering, how are you quickly raising your production queue in a few clicks or so?
I enjoyed my quarantine period by watching this marvel.
When Hells March 2 starts.... Goosebumps every time.
Gratz man!
cheers.
This is why you are the DON AND GOD OF RED ALERT 2 Sir. Take years of experience and strategy and yet I turtle up behind defenses and amass armies to destroy each unit against me. But then I see this. The total time you played the game I.E 1 hour I take to finish 1 mission. You have made me rethink what this is really about. All things done in a flash and no waste of resources and efficient management of time as well. LEGEND SIR !! KUDOS !!
THE HELL MARCH ENDING IS THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG. PRECISION AND ACCURATE TIMING SIR !!
فخامة 👍🧡
Sssoooooo, did the commander managed to score with Tanya and Eva or no?
Because if yes, good job commander! 👍
Wow great play.
Golden age of video games :)
Loved it!
I recently tried doing the USSR campaign with only conscript and got stuck at the kremlin mission lol
Every time I watch the intro to this game as the music spins up it gets me hyped as fuck. This game was my childhood.
Man the actress playing Tanya is so well fit. They've really picked a proper person to play the character. Her acting ittself is on point too.
welcome back
Amazing video.
