I agree on the campaign, it really was a let down compared to the rest of the C&C series, especially Ra2. I mean, I understand the cheesiness of Ra2, but EA really went way too far. Apart from that, there wasn't a lot of variety.

got this playing in another tab for the nostalgic sounds and stuff, and I hear the cutscene end and then a minute later I hear you beating the level and I'm just like 'what the fuck, no fucking way' so I replay it and jesus, you make things so simple
The last mission can be done much faster, the best time I got was 4:26, but that's only because I got bored of speedrunning it. Basically from the first base you only need the battle lab. 1. Garrison the buildings near the airfield with GIs, start building a base with 3 barracks. 2. Send the starting engineers into ifvs, send 4 ifvs including the engi ifvs south behind the base with the battle lab, send them past the sentry guns and use the IFVs to destroy the wall near the battle lab. 3. Capture the lab (Watch out for the dog), an apocalypse will come and attack it, distract it with an ifv and send it back to the garrisoned buildings. 4. Assuming you destroyed the corner of the wall, you should be able to go right past all the defenses and south towards the main base, make sure you hug the shore as to not alert the apocalypse tanks. 5. You should have 2 rocket IFVs and 1 engineer ifv, send the engineer ifv towards the barracks at the right edge of the main base and capture them, an apocalypse will come and try to destroy your ifv, send it back. 6. As soon as you cap the soviet barracks immediately crank out 3 Yuries, one should MC the apocalypse that destroyed the rocket ifv by now. 7. Use the remaining rocket ifvs to attack the elite apocs through the kremlin wall, mind control them and destroy the sentry gun, flak cannon and the tesla coil, only focus on the stationary defenses with the apocs, once they die to the still loyal ones mind control those and enjoy the ending.

I played this game at 13 and recently downloaded it. The speed you get through these missions is fucking terrifying! That DC one... I used to blow up the bridges, build an army then attack. 3 IFV's!!! I'm in awe.
+xMrGreeneJeansx I can't seem to answer your comments directly.. maybe you still see this response. As for mission 6, that's something I actually never thought about. I do build the rocketeers because there are usually some units spread around the map once the Soviets sell everything (it's RNG where the units are). I got lucky with the units in my run, but there was still 1 flak trooper at the top of the map, who was the last unit I killed. So even if I killed the other recruits faster, I wouldn't have finished the mission earlier. If all the units were running down that bridge, I guess it would be faster to run them over, however that wouldn't work for the dogs and the other miners I guess, it could be a slight time imrpovement if I had perfect luck with the units (I played the mission over 100 times and never had all units piled together running down the bridge though.)
JosephS1k I enjoy seeing your strategic mind at work. I never seen someone so willing to do anything that is needed to secure the goal. You knew how to take the advantage of the game to its fullest. I hate how they took Tesla's work and in this game gave the credit to that fraud Einstein, but that is my personal bias and has nothing to do with the my enjoyment of your quality videos.
yoshq6 I would say yes. Most speedruns use glitches to get faster times. A few games (like Pokemon) have glitchless categories though that are far more competitive than glitched ones. I knew about that glitch when I routed this, but I refused to do it. I don't want the speedrun to look like that: www.twitch.tv/thekotti/v/3699908 for example. And I'm afraid RA2 could end up like that too. What do you do different for sub 10? Engineering more building, or a tank strat?
Yeah, if you're quick enough getting over too the outskirts of the island at pearl harbor, the mission simply states destroy all soviet forces, so yeah at the time that is the only thing in play. so destroying it wins the mission for ya.
I'm a rather amateur RTS player, though I have played all of the C&C games (except the last one). I only ever played single player or skirmishes, and never tried to play online. The amount of micro in this video is insane, and I had no idea you could do so much off screen. o-o I fear I'll never be able to be this good at these sorts of games, lol. Guess I'll just stick with CCGs and MOBAs. >.
After watching the first few missions on this speedrun... the only thing I can say is HOLY SHIT!!! It's just amazing being able to win missions simply with the starting units, like in the third mission with 3 IFVs.
well that's not technically true, he was the one who discovered how to split an atom which lead people to understand that splitting an atom could lead to a massive surge in energy from a small amount of matter, and that lead to the development of the nuclear bomb.
What what? that's the quickest way to win this lap (at Pearl Harbor) or there are at least 2 more similar to that (like you can send all of your ships quickly waiting for the Soviets, or with the amphibious some Tanks at the place of the Allies, or some Rocketeers
cool run, i really like your strategy!^^ one thing that could be improved: at the mission 6 u will get a bit money problem, this can be solved fast if u build a lot engineers and load them in the transport ship. i think u can capture the important brown buildings by force with them in the ship and sell those captured buildings!

I don't know if you're aware but there is a guy on SpeedRunsLive and Twitch called Leonpowpow(or Leonpowwow). He speedruns LADX mainly, but he also has special weekends where he runs C&C games, this one included.

L-1011 Widebody I stretched it out in Sony Vegas, I recorded it with Bandicam and had to stretch it to be 1920*1080.. so bandicam made it smaller and that had to be reversed
Ah ha, I see. I figured that might have been the case, judging by the width of your 'build boxes' on the side bar and the number. When you set RA2 to run in wide screen with the HIRES code it adds more boxes, so I was curious. Thank you for answering.
L-1011 Widebody I believe that there's a CODE to be typed at the MAIN MENU to allow you to use higher resolutions using RA2.. it's "hires" no quotes.. after you hear a click or toot thing in the sounds.. there you go, adjust the settings in the resolution.. it might have UI fragments before-game.. but it's perfect in-game! :D

The problem was that the UI wasn't at the same resolution, so when I tried to record, it blew all up whenever it switched from one res to another, like at the score screen. So it works on a gamplay standpoint, but I can't get any useful captured video out of it. Thanks, though!

One thing I was wondering: Would it be possible to do Mission 6 even faster by using your harvesters to crush the last line of infantry as they are heading to your base? You didn't need anymore money at that point and I thought it might save a few seconds.
I just noticed.....Barry Corbin got his lines wrong. 21:19.....the audio says "the ability to deploy Tesla Coils" but when you slow it down and see how he moves his mouth, he says "The ability to deploy Prism Towers" hahahaha, they dubbed in the correct lines. Also, I noticed the voice for the Allied naval units is the voice of Gregg Berger, who did the voice of the Propaganda officer in Dishonored who reads announcements out to the city of Dunwall via the large tannoy speakers.

In last scenario, you just need 2 engineers and 2 IFVs. One for the lab near your own base, and another for the barrack near the Iron Curtain. Then you can set the barrack to prime and build more allies barracks here, that would enhance the speed for recruiting Yuri. Then you can control the black apocalypse tanks all. That would be faster, but it would be more challenging.

Same here. I remember the first day I got it, I was about 9, and after 5 hrs of play I was only 3 levels in.
We were kids man, we just wanted to build things and mess around. At least that's what my young self was doing. This dude is a beast though.

The victory condition is to destroy all enemy structures, so they had to place one structure on the map to keep the player from winning instantly.
