having watched literally thousands of videos on car restoration, on YT and discovery etc etc I have never seen any restoration company who go so far towards perfection as the guild. They are light years ahead of everything else. their attention to detail and perfection is second to none. Bravo to them.
You must mean light years behind. They don't restore future cars.
My friend Earl is pretty good.
What a beautiful car. I wonder if the original is in a barn somewhere
@@jmc5341 I think that was the original mate. only one of them was made, and that company restored it. And this is indeed it.
If i remember correctly
@@DAGATHire no this was a recreation, the original i guess no one knows what happened to it. They talk about that in the video
This may be the most beautiful car I have ever seen in my life, so far. The shape crafted from magnesium, the beautiful sea foam type color, the wood dash and even the engine bay that looks like a high end mechanical watch. Simply stunning automobile.
The most beautiful car ever made, in my opinion. And to have been able to re-make something that is effectively priceless is quite a privilege. Well done TGAR.
If I understood correctly, they had only serial numbers for several things and 11 photographs of the car. There are no more photos of the car at all! Only one car was build as prototype by Bugatti and after only a year it disappeared. And now these guys made it from scratch! Only from photos they had! Truly amazing!
The chassis is period correct and next in serial number to the lost car but yes the body was computer analyzed from photos and recreated beautifully!
They did a superhuman job of bringing it back to life. That dashboard is jaw-dropping beautiful.

I am the owner. No the car is NOT a restoration. It is a Re-Body using an authentic period chassis #57104 with its the original running gear. The lost original Aerolithe was built on chassis #57103. The new body is recreated as exactly as possible based on computer analysis of period photos and using Elektron alloy as original. The goal was to "recreate" as closely as possible the original using as much period fabric as we could coupled with scholarly, scientific research. We are not trying to fool anyone.
Chris Ohrstrom I know this is a late response...is this on display anywhere? it is a beautiful automobile.
The guy seems legit: www.usatoday.com/story/driveon/2013/08/31/show-us-your-car-bugatti/2750029/
Magnificent!
Great that you undertook the Chris - it’s a fabulous outcome.
Its a gem
No denim on Jay Leno? Must be laundry day.
NOW THAT HE STOPPED WEARING DENIM PEOPLE ARE WHINING "WHERE'S THE DENIM JAY"?
HE CAN'T WIN.
He's at a fancy car show cut him some slack
Mr. Leno, an ingenious CAR-GUY who also never wears his shirt over his pants. Bravo!
S
And when he was in Canada too.
Go figure.
These are my FAVORITE type of videos that Jay puts out. All of the pebble beach and classic/historic car walk throughs are wicked awesome! I wish he put out more of these type of videos on the channel. Not that I don't love the individual car walkthroughs but these are the best because you get to see many different cars of all different historic significance in one video. JAY! DO MORE OF THESE PUPPIES!
That's a beautiful car you guys did a great job on this 1935 Bugatti Aerolithe.
That is art on wheels.Great car.
Doug Moody sa dude
Doug Moody I say this is more like a pure master piece on wheels
There were literally thousand of unique art on wheels in the 20 & 30s in France. Most of them now forgotten as they were scrapped for their metal by the germans during WWII, like they did with the machine tools from french factories in WWI.
Dear lord that is without a doubt the most gorgeously beautiful automobile in existence today
These are artists in the purest sense of the word... Breathtaking.
Breathtakingly gorgeous! The dedication to it's restoration is truly impressive.
I love how David Grainger is explaining how he made sure every rivet is in the exact right spot, and that Jay doesn't really give a crap about that and asks more questions on the properties of Magnesium!
Love how interested Jay is about car technology. Lots of guys claim to be "car guys", but Jay takes the cake.
Wonderful car, and I agree with 1221muck. It's great to see a Canadian company doing this type of work. It's art.
This is a beautiful car. Years ago my son (5) and I was getting on a ferry in Washington. The car that parked behind us was this extraordinary car, much to this kind in this video, however the wind was blowing and my son had a hot coco. I was holding it until.we got back to the car and I handed it to him right as a huge gust of wind blew, blowing the foam all over the hood of this beautiful classic European car. In great dismay, I profusely apologized and went to wipe it off with my sweater, the guy screamed, shouting don't..... DONT!..... TOUCH IT. as I looked at him he didn't say another word. I offered to pay and he wouldn't even look at me with zero response. I drove off that day with my tail between my legs for the first time in a long time. Now he's 18 and when I see him with coco, I cringe a little.
Thank you david grainger for this perfect restoration. I know my thanks is not worth as much as jays but i too am an enthusiast and i really do appreciate your work. Without you car culture would die so i thank you very much.
Jay Leno your a riot you keep the show alive, they do to cars today what they did with art on canvas hundreds years a go, thanks again.
i watch the whole series with this car.. the guild is in wonderfull canada......magnesium body panels, restored from a picture all they had was a frame to start with.. all hand made i watch the unveiling as well.. this is stunning!!! best art in the world.. will allways be saught after.

i'm sorry .. i didn't know the spelling police were here.lol.
We're everywhere. We can't get on our wives, so we crawl around here.
Those videos give me goosebumps! Thanks Jay!
This isn't an "auto", it's a work of art.
This is amazing, just absoluetly amazing. Very thrilling!
Thanks for sharing. This amazing manufacturer continues to amaze.
What a stunningly beautiful car!
I followed that build on TV, amazing work
Me too. The show is fascinating, everyone who works there seems to be a gentleman, and there is far less "bleeping" than any other show of its type; a pleasure to watch.
I only made it to the Pebble Beach shows one time and was completely blown away at the unheard of exotic cars that were there. I see this continues with this incredible Bugatti. Jay, we can't thank you enough for your videos!!!
Pure poetry on wheels.
So impressive in any possible way.
true.
Infact When it comes to cars like this Jay's taste in cars is definatly spot on.
Fantastic recreation of a very handsome automobile. It's a rare jewel.
just finished watching the build of this on the guilds UA-cam channel , ,nice to see it all done and a nice walk around
This color fits the car perfectly! Simply beautiful.
Unreal level of craftsmanship. Just beautiful!
the craftsmanship is outstanding .. well a bit beyond that. I like to watch these videos in the same way as I saw my old man cut a new spar for a sailing ship .. mainly hand and eye and fettling .. he was an old school shipwright ..
This is beautiful car, love the color and love the work put in to it
Beautifull detailed and exquisite car. What a labor of love (and money of course).
Bravo Jay! Merci pour tes commentaires sur le sa voir faire de Panhard ,Citroen,Bugatti,Delage, etc,je te suis avec beaucoup d intéret,tu nous fais découvrir des merveilles!!!
Magnificent work of art 💓
Good to see true craftsmanship is not dead
Another beautiful example of kinetic art.👍
Astonishing ? I cant find the right Words! Unbelievable?
What an amazing restoration!
Absolutely stunning.....
Hello: Thanks Jay. I think Bugatti cars from the first ones to the new ones today are amazing cars. That one is a work of art. Take Care
Stunning restoration on a unique automobile.
Words cannot describe the beauty of that car.
FANTASTIC !!!!
thanks jay, what an incredible car
Fantastic work.
I saw this car driving today and I almost crashed when my heart skipped several beats. I've never seen such a beautiful car.
Thank you for the video!!!
Absolutely gorgeous. True craftsmanship on these cars. You don't get a lot of that these days.
The fact the guild decided to take this on using magnesium knowing full well the insane difficulty of welding and molding magnesium into the shape just shows how dedicated to absolute perfection they are. Amazing stuff.
Stunning beauty.
One car that they didn't let Jay drive.
@FlashzeeCat 15 Yep, and they're probably repairing the gearbox as we speak.
I can only imagine Jay Leno would love to have this in his garage !!
Keep up with the episodes love them they are good
That is a piece of art
Absolutely gorgeous.
'runs on wine', classic... Warm, interesting conversion, thanks Jay
Beautiful car awesome restoration
Amazing how much time and effort can someone spend at restoring a car. The attention to detail and not using any modern tools is really unbelievable :)
The car was so far ahead in it's own time in style and so much more there are few words that can do it the justice it certainly deserves.
Awesome! And done by our brothers to the North! Congrats to them...
NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL A LABOUR OF LOVE
I WONDER WHAT A CAR LIKE THAT IS WORTH
Most beautiful and gougers piece of automotive EVER built. Saw it live at Villa d'Este this year (Ralph Lauren one)... just mind-blowing
Fantastic job.
I paused and stared at that green Cobra at the beginning, one of the most beautiful I have ever seen wow!
Beautiful car. And working with magnesium oh my gosh..
That's an explosion waiting to happen in any car crash!
But well done sir. Superb work put in, and stunning vehicle to look at.
This is the first time that I got a really good look at this car and finally see just how great it is.
That is A stunning vehicle and I have not said that about very many others.
Maybe 2 others that I felt that way about and I’ve seen some amazing vehicles in person but this vehicle is completely stunning with its jaw dropping beauty.
Beautiful, beautiful car.
That car is a piece of art
good for you Jay, for saving these works of art. i m not going to guess how much it cost you, but you did great getting it at any price
That being said it is awesome!
Pure Art
My goodness! Stunning car!
about time the Guild got a little attention on your channel... And what a car that Bugatti is.
This car is truly special. Jay dressed for the occasion!
Stunning vehicle.
thank you very much
What a beauty...
That's gorgeous. It almost looks like a concept.
that is one beautiful car!!!
Magnificent accomplishment. Big Thanks to Chris Ohrstrom!
What a beautiful car.
awesome car this is very cool
I saw an Aerolithe in person at the NCMA exhibition some time ago, and the rivets are BEAUTIFUL in person.
Thank you.
amazing!
i think that this is the best looking car in the world !
Lost art. Amazing craft skills.
Speechless.
Magnesium?! I grew up watching VW magnesium blocks burn up on LA freeways while fire training in the Navy included the caveat not to use water on magnesium fires because it burned so hot the H and O2 would separate and explode and these guys actually create a car with this material?
Speechless.
Canadian company so proud. job well done
i Live 2 minutes from these guys. im assuming its the Guild in Ontario Canada
Listen to him say "about". Definitely the Guild in Ontario. He says Toronto at the end too.
Same. Live literally 30 minutes away
Bradford
If you check their site, well, they can redo anything.... even a vintage kid peddle car!
One of the most beautiful cars in the world
That 1935 Bugatti Aerolithe Coupe is awesome ....
Amazing car!
lovely!
Gorgeous car.
Still on display in the front widow of the Guild of Automotive Restorers, 44 Bridge Street, Bradford, Ontario. I get to look at it and touch it every day!!
You're the poor riveter? Wonderful job you guys did. Greetings from the Kawartha Lakes
wow, I never saw the end result. what an amazing effort, and the guys that poured their heart into it, and had to deal with that old lady...err David, bitching at them constantly, really must feel a sense of pride, and accomplishment to even be part of this project. It really is a jaw dropping beauty. David, even tho you look like an old lady hit with the ugly stick a few times, I think you are one hell of a man to take on this thing, and deliver such perfection in the end, brilliant!
