There is something special about just Jay spotlighting the cars solo, isn't there? When he is by himself, there is just an appreciation for the vehicles and a laid back atmosphere.
I also prefer this format. Watching Jay present one of his own cars is always more interesting to me because he knows every little detail about it. Keep this format.
I like both , Jay doing a solo presentation , but I also enjoy seeing guests who bring their own unique cars on the show, or some of the experts that he sometimes invites . PR people I can live without, though ...
This format is so much better than before. A car guy wants to see what you’re talking about when you’re talking about it just like you show. The panning shots are nice, but only frustrate those who want to see the actual engine and see what you are describing. Please don’t go back to the old style.
@Karl Bush I preferred when he had on guests as well. This pandemic broadcasting is just a band aid to appease the massive appetite for Jay Leno's garage. Great 👌 episode though, I'll be watching again!!! 👍💯
@Karl Bush it is kinda different, but so many of those people had no clue how to talk and were completely uninteresting. I think the most interesting person he had was the Admiral with that French Blue Ferrari.
I haven't seen that one yet, but another really interesting one, although he's a bit in the flaky side, was the one with Pist Off Pete and the tank thing that Jay got. Then there are the ones who just feel awkward in front of a camera, and it showed. Those ones, I found it tough to get through the episode.
Yeah I think BandAid was rude too. The guy is doing something that he enjoys doing, and that we enjoy seeing, regardless of how many people are involved. This can't possibly be easy for him to do alone either.
All the respect and appreciation in the world for Jay Leno - he has every excuse in the world right now to not make new videos, yet here's Jay with his phone doing all of the recording himself, for a video that he's in no way obligated to make under the current circumstances. It's one thing to have a passion for these cars - it's another thing entirely to have a passion for SHARING these cars, and Jay going above and beyond here for us with no obligation to do so, well, this is just another example of how extraordinary Jay is as a human being. As always, thank you for your generosity Jay, it's appreciated beyond words!
LOVE this new format, Jay. So much more personal. Thank you! "Bugatti is like golf. You either get it or you don't" Ha ha! That's how I feel about all my Ford Model A's
Jay never needs to apologize for the camera work or video quality - I'm thankful he's still producing interesting content while so many of us are stuck mostly at home, still.
How many Bugatti owners actually drive their cars and how many of them actually share the joy and experience of driving one. I know there isn't much profit generated from making these videos and I just want to thank you again, Mr.Leno, for sharing your wonderful cars with us.
I've lost count of the number of Bugattis I've seen at car concours events, but nothing comes close to seeing them being driven and enjoyed; thankfully, Jay is one of those rare collectors who are not afraid to put miles on these beautiful works of art.
Jay, you started off semi-apologetically saying "This is the new normal." I hope you're looking at the comments because this approach to the show with you single-o is just killing, man. People are loving it, me included. Don't apologize. This is good stuff! And this ain't no patty-pat from me to help you get through the COVID rough spot because this is *not* a rough spot. It's new and it is good. You can run this format forever and have an occasional guest, the reverse of the old format and it will suit us just fine. Your appreciation and love of cars shows through with everything you present, from Doble to Corvette to Panhard to Aston-Martin. Thanks for being you, man. This is great. All who agree say "Aye" or thumbs-up or whatever.
Jay, I love your obvious familiarity with the cars. You're reciting the history and pointing out the features of the car from memory, in a completely normal and natural way. When you reach for a latch, you're not fumbling or having to ask the guy who actually knows the car where the latch is, your movement is as natural as it would be for any of us reaching for the hood latch on our own cars in our own garage. It really is Jay Leno's Garage, not a museum. Thank you for sharing it all with us.
I was always a letterman man, but I will say this about Jay. This man has done more for preserving automotive history in his life time than most people can accomplish in a thousand life times. Genuinely one of my favorite UA-cam channels. Hands down. When he speaks about cars, he speaks not only as a academic but with a journalistic flair and a touch of prose. He genuinely cares about cars.
A true Master Curator with a beautiful living museum, Jay I think I speak for many when I say that we are all blessed by your passion and you willingness to pass on your love and knowledge to others. It is a gift which is truly priceless.
One thing Jay does that is underappreciated by many is thoroughly document the vehicles he purchases and restores, even if it isn't his team doing the work, the work done is always meticulously documented..
I find it amazing that you can lose track of how many Bugattis Jay has in his garage. Best part is that he drives all of them. A true caretaker who appreciates the soul of his collection
Jay, you have outdone yourself. This episode was SO CLOSE to being right there with you. Yes, so much value in experiencing these old cars on the road ... smells, sounds, vibrations, airflow, kinesthetics (seat of the pants feel). Also a great job of allowing us to share YOUR personal level of appreciation of the art of the automobile on so many levels. Kindred spirit here ... Well done!!!
Smokey DaBear ... Yep, just to get to spend time with Jay, learn the idiosyncrasies of each car, & appreciate the level of craftsmanship within, is a joy to behold. I'm thankful for Jay's passion.
This new format is far superior to the old. I know you can't make everyone happy all the time, but this show has made me very happy. I enjoy the low key side of Jay. What I like best is learning about the truly odd details of very old automobiles. This is a soothing break to the bs going on in the idiotic world around us.
John All most people can never learn that skill. That’s why heavy trucks are going automated. Luckily my boss gets it and still buys sticks for the guys who want them, which is most of us.
Mr. Leno, I found myself going back again and again to look at the details that you were able to capture when filming this beautiful car. You keep mentioning that you're filming alone, but if it was up to me this is how you would always film. Over the past weeks your pandemic episodes have shown not only your love for these beautiful cars, but your innate ability to capture that beauty fro. The proper point of view. I have truly enjoyed these episodes and today's was amazing.
Your comment about how this show is basically an effort to give us a chance to get a look at and a ride in classic vehicles like you were able to do is EXACTLY what it has done for me since 2006!! I'm 40 now and I think I've seen every one. It's a Monday morning ritual to watch while I get ready for work. All of the 60-70 somethings at work always wonder how I know so much about older cars... it's you! So thank you!
As a lover of the Automobile, I count myself as lucky to have you amongst our kind, albeit, one with a little more play money than most of us. Your generosity with your time and knowledge, your passion, these are things that most do not give freely and yet, you always seem to be grateful just to have our audience. But what I appreciate the most about you is your steadfastness to share the kinds of treasures that most lock away. So many collectors leave their cars behind closed doors, leaving the rest of us to just imagine what they are like. You choose to drive cars, some, worth more than many of us will ever earn. And not to brag, but because you care that we might otherwise never have a chance to see them. And you have just as much fun driving and sharing something with a much more modest budget. Jay is THE car guy! Did you notice that his coveralls are clean, his work shoes are polished but the toes are scuffed? That's honest wear and a sure sign he is actually working on his cars. And the man is 70 years old!
I love the underbody shots I had no idea getting to see and compare different unbody designs through history would almost be as intresting as the engines. I didn't even know about when disk brake were invented, or that mechanical brakes were a thing, or even that cars had wooden wheels.
Bugatti: Where what's underneath is as lovely as what's on top. That front suspension, such purpose and delicacy at the same time. Just tickles the brain.
Great! At last, Jay does a video of one of his Bugattis. Now, let's have one of the T57 SC Atlantic... One thing - at 16:51, Jay says 'notice the solid front axle'. Well, it's solid front axle if you mean that the two front wheels are directly linked, but that round axle bar is actually hollow. It's forged hollow, in one piece. As he said, the springs pass through the axle. Truly a remarkable piece of workshop art. It must be REALLY difficult to make replicas of these Bugatti axles.
I always thought this new fancy jumpsuit must've been custom tailored and made in some French factory or something, but no, I saw the dickies logo and laughed out loud!
Jay's generosity reminds me of a day when I was stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga in Mayport, Florida. I stopped (in uniform) by a classic car dealer one afternoon and in the garage out back was a gorgeous red 365GTB4 Ferrari Daytona waiting for an oil change. The owner saw my Navy uniform and said "go ahead and sit in it if you want", and then wandered off, leaving me alone to sit and daydream in his priceless Ferrari. What a gentleman. Thank you, Jay and all others who share your wonderful cars with the rest of us!

The smoothness completely translates through the video. Wow. I can really feel it like I'm there. So damn cool seeing pix BEFORE restoration!!! The side view proportions look a bit clunky to me, but the front view is pure "classic" in the true automotive usage of the word. Did other Bugattis have those Royale type wheels? *Thanks Jay!!!!!*
Jay, thank you for another instructive & enjoyable video. Also, to be historically accurate, Ettore Bugatti founded his company in 1909 in Molsheim, Alsace, which at the time was under German control. In 1919 Alsace came under French control. In 1940 it again came under German control. In 1945 it again came under French control. Hence, depending on the year, Bugatti autos were built both in France & Germany. I don't know if that makes a difference in design or collector value but it is a historical curiosity.
I learn more watch Jay Lenos garage than I ever did in school ... Lol. These webisodes are fantastic. I don't miss a single one. And my appreciation for the automotive world has grown emensely just because of Jay. He's a comedy legend, but now even more an automotive legend. Keep him alive forever!
I am tremendously appreciative that Mr.Leno shares his immense collection, as well as his wealth of knowledge and information, with us here completely free of charge and without ads. He is a wonderful person.
And they're also the *brake drums!* Not hidden behind the wheel, fighting to stay cool with whatever air is moving behind the wheel, they're right out there in contact with the airflow and the rain. How freakin' cool is that?
Still loving the Pandemic specials and not in any hurry for it to go back to the "normal" format, Jay your passion for your personal collection is what makes these so good.
Thanks for sharing. This Bugatti is truly sensational, but what is even more shocking is the extent of work and revision carried out by Hjeltness Restoration. Judging from the photos, the car elements were there and then they were brought back to life by Hjeltness Restoration.
Oh my God! That is the most beautiful car you have ever shown. I really didn't think anything could top the jaguar XK120, but this has done it! Absolutely stunning.
You know when you meet someone and they've got everything and you can feel envious?! I don't feel like that about Jay, not only does he deserve what he's got due to his talent and life long hard work but his passion for these cars are unmatchable! I know I could never achieve this much passion and dedication to so many cars, I struggle with the two I own 😅
I love this "not normal" format! Don't go back to "normal"

I know I'm only reconfirming what everyone else has been saying, but i truly love the format of your show and i love your content. I could watch it all day, buddy. Drive safe
I can deal with this kind of “new normal” Jay. Love these personal offerings. Keep them coming please, and THANK YOU
Thanks Jay. Love your videos. Some normalcy in crazy times. You're a public mental health service now as well as a great show. Keep up the great work.
If the break drum wears out, there goes the wheel! Neat design and a beautiful automobile. Thanks Jay
Nothing is perfect.
What a sublime work of art. A masterpiece one can drive in the hood.
I am tremendously appreciative that Mr.Leno shares his immense collection, as well as his wealth of knowledge and information, with us here completely free of charge and without ads. He is a wonderful person.
Love those 'turbine' wheels looks like a wheel from the vette of 80's they really are quite modern looking
And they're also the *brake drums!* Not hidden behind the wheel, fighting to stay cool with whatever air is moving behind the wheel, they're right out there in contact with the airflow and the rain. How freakin' cool is that?
In a word, WOW. Thanks Jay.
It's great to see such treasures of history kept alive, restored, and at times modified.
Thank you,Mr.Leno for continuing to share all you knowledge, and you vehicles. That group did a very good job.
I have a _Bugatti section_ in my garage too... There just aren’t any cars in it.
You have a garage? :)
I have a Bugatti section too. It has a Hot Wheels car in it.....
@@CamaroAmx Wait! What, no Matchbox cars?! 🤣
Lexacocca too pricey for me...
@@CamaroAmx Completely understandable.
Still loving the Pandemic specials and not in any hurry for it to go back to the "normal" format, Jay your passion for your personal collection is what makes these so good.
Gorgeous car, thanks for sharing!
Cars are made to be driven. Thank you for doing so. Cheers.
THIS WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE JAY LENO'S VIDEOS. ☺👍🚦🚗⛽
A rolling piece of art. I look forward to these videos every week... Thanks, Jay!
Solid Axel with the Leaf Springs must feel like you are on rails going around corners.
Thanks for sharing. This Bugatti is truly sensational, but what is even more shocking is the extent of work and revision carried out by Hjeltness Restoration. Judging from the photos, the car elements were there and then they were brought back to life by Hjeltness Restoration.
Those wheels look amazing on that car and very contemporary looking at the same time.
Oh my God! That is the most beautiful car you have ever shown. I really didn't think anything could top the jaguar XK120, but this has done it! Absolutely stunning.
"lucky for me this is my normal life..."
@ 2 45 "I wasn't really looking for one of these, but" I have more money than God, so ...
@@adamnoman4658 more money than brains, please get it right. 😇
The quality of the design and workmanship is amazing. Thanks for making these Jay!
Someone broke Jay, this doesn't look like a Citroen Traction Avant
Thanks for putting the car on the lift! I really enjoy seeing the entire car.
Lovely car Jay, love the wheels but surprised to see them on a 32 car.
You know when you meet someone and they've got everything and you can feel envious?! I don't feel like that about Jay, not only does he deserve what he's got due to his talent and life long hard work but his passion for these cars are unmatchable! I know I could never achieve this much passion and dedication to so many cars, I struggle with the two I own 😅
Wondering how long lockdown can last to see the complete collection of Jay being shown on this show
When i'm not watching Jay, i'm out coughing on everyone. That'll keep it going for a while 😁
If it goes on for another six months we’re all gonna be pants crapping insane.
I somehow doubt that even if the lockdown lasted another 3 years we'd get to the last car in Jay's collection.
